Downlaod speed fater beyond Wi - Fi or Ethernet.

I download something that will take some time, it would download faster if I plugged my Ethernet Cable into my laptop and it does.

Hello

WiFi is much more limited than Ethernet speed, so it depends on how quickly your driving speed
is and what type of WiFi is used. If the driving speed exceeds the speed of the WiFi so the
Ethernet connection is faster. If the driving speed is slower than WiFi speed then
the WiFI and Ethernet would be essentially the same.

So, if you had a 1.5 MB pipe and use G or WiFi N, then they would be as fast as the
Ethernet (there may be a reduction in head too small for WiFi).

If you had a 3.4 + MB or more fast pipe then using Wifi G wouldn't catch an Ethernet
connection.

WiFi vs actual throughput speeds
http://www.wifihowto.NET/WiFi-speeds-vs-real-world-throughput

G = 54 Mbps or 6.8 MB and real world 3.4 MB

N = 300 Mbit turbofan 150 Mbps single stream or 37.5/18.7 MB and real world 18.5/9.3 MB.

Interference, the distance and other environmental conditions may further reduce the speed WiFi.

I hope this helps.

  • Download speed very slow on the wired Ethernet connection

I am currently getting 200 Mbps down and 0.3 MB/s on my desk wired Ethernet connection. I should get 200 down and 20 upwards.

    • On my wireless adapter on the same router, I have ~ 18 Mbit/s to the top and about 15 Mbit/s down, which seems that the wireless adapter works fine.
    • I plugged in another computer with the same cable on the same router port and got the full speed (200/20), then the problem lies within my computer.
    • I made a transfer of files to and from my computer to another computer connected to the same router and I got the full speed Gigabit times come and go.

I searched high and wide on the internet and forums, and that many people have had the same problem I have, nothing of the multitude of solutions worked for me.

That's what I tried without success:

    • Uninstalled the Ethernet card, deleted the drivers, forcing the new drivers to install again. No change of speed.
    • Carefully checked for Virus and malware programs (crossed the registry as well), but found nothing, and nothing has been installed recently other than windows updates.
    • The only antivirus I have is Windows Defender. I turned off and turned off the Windows Firewall, but speed did not improve.
    • I tried with IE, Chrome and Firefox, speed with different services and all tests show similar speeds. I also used FTP to a server I have, and the speeds were the same.
    • There is no other traffic devours bandwidth.

So what I have gathered so far, it's that my Ethernet card works very slow only when downloading from the internet. Within my network, it works fine.

What is a service that does not work well? If so who? I am not knowledgeable on the use of all services. I checked IPv4 and IPv6 and they both seem to be configured correctly, but I can't say that I am certain of what "correctly configured" is.

    These are my specs:

    HP Desktop H9 - 1215t

    Windows 7 Ultimate SP1

    64 bit

    Chip Intel i7-3770

Controller Atheros AR8161/8165 PCI - E Gigabit Ethernet (NDIS 6.20)

I would really appreciate some help here because this problem I'm paralyzed.

    Thank you for your time,

    Tom

    By George, you got it!

For someone who thinks he's good at Googling, I could sure use some improvements!

The key has been the link to explanation. While I had been close to my tests, this for shows that even when you sort-of-one little-peut-be-think you know what you're doing to keep your legs unless you know EXACTLY what you are doing.

The answer was definitely Large Send Offload, but it was a little more complicated, at least to understand what really happened. Neutralization of him gave the tour, but now I work with an active v2 and it works like a charm.

I will detail what, in my opinion, happened here for those who may have similar problems so that they (you) may be able to figure out, as all cards are different and may require slightly different settings.

I live in an area where so far the download speed over fast, I was able to get is 2 Mbps, on a good day, it's usually on average 1 ~ 1.5 Mbps. download speed is between 5 ~ 20 Mbit/s.

I do a lot of video work and I constantly have to download large files on my servers. I got the computer described above about 8 months ago, and my Age (2 years) one remained on my home network.

For a week or two, I was cursing my ISP because the internet was slower than usual and very glitch. I tested my speed and got 20 down and 0.2, repeatedly. So I went through the long and technology-challenged call representative to 'help' me, I was paying for 20/2. Only option was to wait a week for a technician to come out of my house, he stressed have shot my injurybut not before you ask me, that there are faster speeds to internet available in my place. 200/20 which is 10 times what I had, so of course I went with her. In doing so the representative asked me to Exchange my modem/router for a new handle faster speeds.

When I replaced the modem/router, I found that the download speed went from 50/0.2 (after the new request speed but still with the old router) to 200/0.3~0.5 with the new router. I also had a Cisco E2000 router that I turned into a switch, which was also bogged down internet high speed (now that they have been much faster). But still the download speed has not really improved.

This long and winding history is so that you (read this with a similar problem) might find the answer to your particular problem.

Looking back when I said that the issue was in my computer because that became high speed was not quite accurate. The 'problem' was beyond my router, if the solution was in my settings with the LSO parameter. The 'problem' was not really a problem since what I see (guess) that's happened is that my ISP has been updated with equipment, and the settings on my new pc has become a problem while paradoxically not so in my old pc.

My old pc equipped with a "Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller" and the IPv4 LSO parameter turned on, that she was no problem under the new set of circumstances ISP. 200 / 20 Mbit/s.

Then when I compared the setting on my new computer, it never crossed my mind that the neutralization of him would solve the problem.

My new pc has a Atheros AR8161/8165 controller PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet (NDIS 6.20). This adapter has a setting "IPv4 LSO" more setting "IPv4 LSO v2" and "IPv6 LSO v2" décor. I don't think that my ISP uses IPv6.

In my quest to solve the problem, I placed all of the above settings to "Enabled", without success and in my fog don't reverse these settings.

With the 3 off, it worked fine, but I got a 5 ~ 10% improvement on the download speed with the LSO IPv4 v2 enabled and the other disabled.

There is no way representing the service provider on the phone could know this, so calling them would not / has not solved the problem. Even waiting a week for the technician most likely would not have solved the problem as it would be measured using a laptop full download and the download speeds.

I'm sure this will become a problem most current internet speeds that House are starting to soar (thanks Google!), so I hope this helps those who have similar problems.

    To summarize:

Click on start->Control Panel->Device Manager->network adapters-> your adapter name (mine is Atheros AR8152/8158 PCI - E Fast Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.20), right click and select Properties. On the advance tab, find good Large Send Offload (IPv4) and change its value to disabled , and then click on OK.

If you have a Large Send Offload (IPv4) v2 try to set that to enable (with either a handicapped of course).

    I hope this helps!

    And thank you George.

  • How to extract all the drives SAS/SATA and Ethernet port speed of the link command line?

    Hello

Do you know if supports Windows OS built in order to extract all the SAS/SATA drives and ports Ethernet link speed?

i.e. for SATA3 drive it show 6 Gbps, for DIS3 drive it will show 12 Gbps, to present the current link speed.

i.e. for Ethernet 10 G, it will show 10 Gbit/s while the current connection speed is at 10 Gbps.

I need the command to create a batch file to run bike test to check all connection speeds are correct in each cycle the system power runs, if the Windows operating system does not support built in order to achieve this, please send us any tool of 3rd - party with the support of the command line to do this.

  • Lower E1000 on Wifi Ethernet

Hi, my linksys e1000 router compares pretty well to my modem when the Ethernet cable is plugged.  I get fast DL speeds above 50Mbps be when the Ethernet cable is plugged into my computer.  However, when I connect wireless, regardless of the range I can't DL any faster than 20Mbps.  I have advanced and restored my settings by default so that I could use Cicsco Connect and update the firmware, but beyond that I don't know what parameters to change.  Any help would be gladly appreciated.

What is your connection speed, such as reported by the operating system?  Try to disable WMM or hierarchy of the media.

  • Unable to connect to the internet using Ethernet

I have a Mac mini as I try to connect via Ethernet cable to a modem Comcast Arris TG862. I was connected via Wifi without problem (with the exception of the slower speeds). I know that the Ethernet ports on the back of the modem seem to work, since I can listen to my TV, etc. In settings > network Ethernet shows as green and connected and gives me an IP address, but as soon as I turn off Wifi no web page doesn't load.
What I am doing wrong? I thought that it would just connect. On the Ethernet port lights, which I think means data transfer. Otherwise, I need to tell Firefox or Chrome to turn to the Ethernet connection?
    Thank you!

The default configuration is to have the WiFi over Ethernet in the Service order.

The order must be set such that the (desired) primary service is at the top of the list and the backup service is below.

If you look at the order of service when it is connected to the network, the higher is the provision of access Internet one (or at least, he thinks Yes).

To set the order, click on the menu of the machine and choose the order of Service. Move Ethernet to the top of the list. This should make it primary unless he loses the connection.

However, it must move up Ethernet and provide a connection when you have turned off the WiFi. When you disable WiFi on the Mac, the Ethernet connection move to the top of the list and show a green connection?

  • Can I check my speed of network (not the internet) on tv4 from apple?

    Hello

I have problems streaming an HD movie to my pc windows to apple tv4, I use the plex app server and media. that works very well on all SD movies, but I get a lot of buffering on HD (10.9 Gig) movies, I tried wireless and ethernet, but both have buffering of questions then I would only test network speed I'm getting with wifi, ethernet via Powerline or direct ethernet so I know not to invest in a better wireless modem or if it's the software or other problems.

    Thnaks in advance

    Chris

think I saw and app for him but he could have been another internet speed measured only application

But if you have tried ethernet then unless your router is older then the wheel, then it would execute is 100Mbit which should be more then enough to stream hd you tried with hd movies less 10.9 GB seems a little heavy

Another thing you should consider is what format

    Video formats

Video H.264 up to 1080 p, 60 fps, high level or hand Profile 4.2 or lower

Formats H.264 Baseline profile level 3.0 or lower with AAC - LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48 kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file

MPEG-4 video up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 x 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, basic profile with AAC - LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48 kHz, audio stereo in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats

    of https://www.apple.com/tv/specs/

If your movies are in no! Another plex format could be all software decoding instead of leaving the appletv chip do material which means a better performance of the 1000 mkv or tastes would be in this category

You can try to convert them using the free converter called Handbrake program and see if you get better performance with h.264 codec

and your network could be innocent to 100% if the problems you are having

I had a Satellite A300-1mc for Christmas and everything is ok with him except speed downlaod are very slow grace wireless, I removed mcafee, downloaded the latest drivers and speeds are still slow I even reinstalled the Intel (R) Wifi link 5100 AGN
My laptop is downlaod speed about 10 maybe 20 kb/s while your desktop running through the same router gets speeds of 100 KB/sand, the laptop connected via lan gets 250 kb / s

If anyone has any ideas help would be much apreciated

  • Message from Ethernet to the boot-up

Just need help with an error message that I get when I start my Satellite 2450-201. All is as follows:

I'm trying to set up a connection high speed to my modem with the Ethernet port, but it does not work. I think the problem is to do with the message above.

    Can anyone help?

    Hello

As far as I know this message occurs if the LAN is set as a first start-up frequent.
Please enter the BIOS settings and change it. You can set the HARD drive first. On this way, the boot process will be much faster.

    Good bye

  • The speeds are horrible!  need help with the best settings.

I can't not significant with my internet speed (less than 1 Mbps in the speed test).

These speeds are intermittent.  Sometimes - but rarely - I get much higher speeds I have pay for.

My provider is Time Warner.  I have a time capsule tall which is 1 year old.  I also have an old flat capsule which is a wireless extension, as well as a newer airport express (flat type) and an airport express that plugs on the (old) wall as extensors as well.

I called Time Warner repeatedly.  They have sent people twice and messed around, but the problem persists.

I started think maybe it's time Capsule.  (I tried my old mac into the router directly - wiring because it has an ethernet port - but it would not connect).

I don't know a lot about what do all the settings, so I have not messed with a lot (even if I tried to change the renew the DHCP lease for 1 hour instead of 1 day).

Could give me an idea on the best settings for a time used as wireless with extensions Capsule?

Is it possible that my older Extenders slow down things?

    Thank you.

It is usually best to start from scratch.

This modem do you have? Brand and model please.

Simply run the TC... measure speeds... by wireless and ethernet and report.

Run the TC and the new express... (much better than GEN 1 or 2... TC equal but gen3 gen4 TC is greater than the express new).

In airport utility watch connection speeds. It shows the speed of connection, if you place your mouse over it.

Slow links will cause worse problems on the line... Make sure that all the repeaters (wireless extensions) get at least good signal...

Please give numbers and the screenshots as it helps no end.

  • Ethernet driver

    I have a laptop Compaq 610 [Energy Star] product # FM950UT

I want to upgrade XP Pro to Windows 7. The compatibility test said that the "Ethernet adapter" will be not compatible.

Won't have a chance by using the HP site to find what I need and where to find.

    Thanks for your help.

Fati network controller is an ethernet card.

Go to Device Manager, expand the category network adapters and you will see the name of the NICs listed there.

If there is a marvell ethernet card listed, it's one that needs an updated driver.

  • Wireless, Ethernet normal slowdown!

I run broadcom 1350 (also tried to 1370) on a dell inspiron 1150. In the last few weeks my Wireless has slowed down (.5 Mbps to 5 Mbps download), even if my upload speed on wireless and all about ethernet normal rest. Any ideas on what to check?

    Hello

    1. don't you make changes to your computer before the problem?

I wish that you follow these steps and check if the problem persists.

    Step 1:

Update your wireless network cards and see if the problem still occurs.

    Step 2:

Uninstall and reinstall the wireless network adapters and see if the problem still occurs.

  • WAG160Nv2 wireless speed is pathetic!

So, after I've had my WAG160N router for 2 years now... I finally got a problem with it and just, I tried everything and did not solve. So my solution is to buy another and I saw in the store, it was the same router but version 2. So my router now (WHICH I BOUGHT today) is WAG160Nv2.

So today I set up and everything was fine and I plugged my laptop on it and I was happy that I got internet again, as my old router was dead. Anyway the problem is that the wireless speed never went more than 250 kb/s. The fun is that when I connect my speed reached 1.9 MB/s ethernet cable. So, how pathetic can be?

My old wag160n worked very well on wireless and cable internet (always with ethernet). So no problems at all... but this WAG160Nv2 is completely bad. Don't know what the problem with it, but I can't believe that. It's the same router but just version 2 and this one has completely slow wireless? Really?

So, after I spent a lot of time on threads of community support and cisco home I discovered that many people have the same problem with model WAG160N.

I tried to change my MTU size and my beacon interval, Fragmetation threshold, RTS threshold numbers as I read on another thread, but it's always the same.

I made a new thread because I have the same router and everything was fine and that is the version 2 If WAG160Nv2 means version 2 (v2) and my wireless is bad, really really bad.

I'm running firmware V2.00.20 and my VCI and VPI are correct. I have no change to anything on my router I have only used my ISP username and password also, I changed my wireless security key.

I'm afraid that if I turn my router to the store and take another one that he will always have the problem that people said that they returned that and they still had the problem. So am really doomed?

So the solution to my problem was to downgrade firmware 2.00.20 to 2.00.17!

If you have the same router with 2.00.20, you certainly need to downgrade to 2.00.17!

  • Should I buy the time Capsule

    Hi all!

I currently have an Asus router ac68u from T Mobile. It worked well this year I got it, but with one problem. USB 3 external HARD disk configuration and the service is terrible. The firmware is crippled by T-Mobile and does not have some built-in functions that it should have. I really want to be able to use it with time machine for my MacBook pro and my IMac 27 at the same time. The problem is the speed of backups and fear to use it to view files on the internet. After days of reading and research, my first thought was to replace it with a time Capsule. I would tend to think that the installer would be much less of a headache and it would be much safer way for Mac on the normal FTP or Samba which offer other routers.

After reading so many comments, I'm wondering 3 things:

    1. the age of the technology of the time Capsule.

    2. the speed and the autonomy of the time Capsule.

    3. Wifi calling under a load.

The peak use, there will be 14 devices share the router. But the most common are scenarios, four 802.11ac devices using Skype, youtube and Netflix at the same time with a wired broadcast LAN 4 k video peripheral. And 2 readers of streaming HD video over 802.11n.

It strained my Asus router, but it keeps her on. My service is cable 150mg and I get full 150mg less than 30 feet with a single connected device. The T Mobile router does a good job at wifi under full load calls. I guess it's because the QoS configuration they use.

Then the time Capsule stand or perform at least as good as my AC68U using my home or should I be looking for a monster like the 3200 AC or an AC-5300 router and buy an external hard drive. I fear that the program installation and safety, but I don't want to lose money on the Time Capsule if it cannot follow.

You can find the specifications at support.apple.com/specs/. Then select the time Capsule to find the specs on all models from the beginning. They were initially released in 2009.

My preference would be an Airport Extreme Base Station with a connected backup USB drive. Probably just as good as the time Capsule but more reliable. Backup speed will be slightly faster than Ethernet.

I don't have experience with the help of so many features at the same time, so I can't comment on this issue.

The time Capsule and are all two AEBS Gigabit capable. Typical range is clearly brought 150 feet. Walls, windows, walls, ceilings and floors will reduce this range according to the material and the distances.

  • Four express airport Wireless extends through the other, instead of directly through my airport extreme

    Hello

I have a small question which I hope someone can help me with.

I have an airport extreme that I use as base station, and since I live in a big house, I extended wireless network with four Airport express devices. I put express devices from the airport in mode "expand the network."

The question I have is that two of the expresses correctly connects directly to the Airport extreme, but the two other go via the two expresses first and not directly to the airport extreme base station.

I am worried that I have will lose speed because of this and wondered if I can implement all the features four Airport express way so they all connect directly to the base station and not by the other?

Any advice would be appreciated - thanks.

I am worried that I have will lose speed because of this and wondered if I can implement all the features four Airport express way so they all connect directly to the base station and not by the other?

Apple "extend a wireless network" feature works on the strength of the signal, so the ideal situation would be to have AirPort Extreme, located within your home with each Airport Express located approximately the same distance from the AirPort Extreme around the perimeter of the House.

Think of a 4-spoke wheel. AirPort Extreme would be the "hub" in the center of the wheel and located at the end of a ray separated from each AirPort Express Terminal. In this way, each AirPort Express connects directly to the 'hub' and expand properly.

The question I have is that two of the expresses correctly connects directly to the Airport extreme, but the two other go via the two expresses first and not directly to the airport extreme base station.

The two airport expresses which connect to other expresses 'extension' of the network are not all. They 'join' the network... so they could be used for AirPlay or a printer USB remote... but the Express do not 'extends' the network when he "joined".

You will need to experiment with different places until you see all four expresses connect directly to the main AirPort Extreme.

As loss of speed in the network is... whenever you try to extend wireless network, nearly half of the potential speed on the network will be lost in the process. It's just a character of the beast to the extension of a wireless network.

You can avoid the loss of speed in the network by configuring each AirPort Express Terminal to connect to the main router using a wired Ethernet cable connection. There is no loss of speed at all through the connection Ethernet cable up to 300 + feet, so full power is stored on the network when you do it this way.

  • R6300 get 100/100 but I have gigabit connection

I have a R6300 and I have a gigabit connection. If I bypass the router I get a very fast speed, but if I connect via Ethernet through the router I get 100 MB up and down. What should I do to get the gigabit on the router?

Make sure the Ethernet cables are Cat5e or better. In addition, Gigabit Ethernet uses all 8 wires in the cable. If even 1 wire is damaged, the interface will drop up to 100 Mbit/s, using 4-wire.
