drawing shapes to specific dimensions

I am very new to Photoshop (CS4) and use it to create illustrations for web design. Can someone tell me how to score forms? For example, I want to quote a graphic banner - consists of rounded rectangle - and then know the size I want it in Dreamweaver, but can't see a way to set it up in Photoshop. I have experience using CAD, so I'm used to be able to draw shapes very easily to an exact size (this knowledge is probably inhibit me indeed - think that my brain is always in the mode CAD!).

I am a beginner on Photoshop and Dreamweaver! Any help much appreciated!

Its easily done, but its hidden in a submenu.

In the toolbar on the left, navigate to the shape tool

Click it

At the top of your screen is a bar with all the different shapes (square, circle, Star etc.)

At the end of this is a blue arrow

Click on that and enter in the boxes "fixed size", specifying your units

Took me forever to learn about it

(PS I'm only on CS3 so I hope that this still applies in CS4)

  • Drawing shapes in layers with CS3

    I work with Photoshop Extended v10.0.1 on Mac OS 10.5.8

    I went to PS v10.0.1 v5.5. Great leap forward.

    In version 5.5, I could use the on-line tool, the tool Rectangle or any other shape to draw on different layers tool. I could control the line width and color. You would be able to see all the different forms on different layers all at once, unless of course you have hidden a layer. Now in 10.0.1 if I pull a single shape on a layer, then another on a second layer, the second layer makes the first disappear. In fact I can't draw several shapes on any single layer, the PS is always automatically a new layer for the new form. I tried the manual for this search and can not find the solution. I know that a lot changed between these two versions, but is there something I need to do to be able to draw shapes on different layers (and multiple shapes on a layer), and make them all visible as if it were on v5.5?

    See this post on the shape with a stroke and no fill layers.

  • Illustrator draw shape Snap

    Nice day

    I use the application Illustrator draw for Ipad.

    I put in place a rectangular grid with the form slam the feature turned on. However, my shapes and lines do not seem to automatically align the grid.

    Is there something I am doing wrong? Or I understand the concept of Snap form function?

    Hello

    It's a good question, and I try to answer in kind of the same way, that I was when I got the same Q.

    If you choose say a 90 ° on the shape and then click Create a form, what happens with the snap of the form, is that if you rotate your shape very slowly, you will notice a point during the rotation that when you get to 90 °, an orange outline and a 'click' appear for a blink of an eye. This means that your straight line is at 90 °

    So try to use it again and never drop the view of your Board of Directors during the rotation of the shape, you will see the hanging and therefore explain to you if she is there for the use that you need or if it is not your piece of cake

    I hope this helps!

  • change the draw shapes to paths?

    How can I change the I ve of complex shapes imported drawing into simple paths?

    It works more like the shape of task of Illustrator.

    If you want to shoot and take advantage of each stroke as a path, see (uhhhh...) Sketch of Photoshop?

    You can align on Adobe Illustrator, then all the individual strokes convert to paths (you will lose all custom in conversions brush definitions)

  • How to add text/solid/shape at specific index?

    Hello, is it possible to add shape/text/solid to a specific index in a publication? As for example a publication has 5 layers and I want to add a solid to index 3 rather than at the beginning layers as it does by default. The definition of solid ID after I added it does not work, because as its readOnly.

    As much as I know there is no way to change the index while creating a layer.

    Look in >. Page.87, there are a 4 methods to meet your need once the layer is created.

    App.Project.Item (index). Layer (index) .moveToBeginning ();

    App.Project.Item (index). Layer (index) .moveToEnd ();

    App.Project.Item (index). Layer (index). MoveBefore (targetLayer); targetLayer is an AVLayer object, then you should try this way: targetLayer = app.project.activeItem.layer (index);

    App.Project.Item (index). Layer (index). MoveAfter (targetLayer);

    I almost forgot that the script can use app.executeCommand (app.findMenuCommandId ("shape layer")); to add a shape layer just above your selectedLayers. I don't remember, but maybe that this feature is supported after AE CS6

  • I want to crop a photo to specific dimensions of px

    I can draw a box on the photo with the marquee tool, and it would be perfect if I could size the box in pixels, but I don't see a way to do.  Did I miss something?  Or I have to use another tool?  Looks like the marquee selection tool would be perfect if I could size.

    Enter the width in pixels / height in your crop tool at the top of your screen.  Or click on unconstrained > size & resolution custom preset that you can re - use.  Click on the screenshot.

  • Export of the LR5 to specific dimensions

    Export in LR5 for a photo contest.  Indicated Requiremnts are "high resolution JPEG at 300 dpi, not larger than 8 x 12 inches.  Just do not know what settings to use in the LR5/cc to meet these specifications.  There is no "dpi".

    I reason to assume that if I have put 300 ppi, which who will set the resolution and also to 'fix' the size of the magnification of the picture so he used get expanded beyond what would look good / be printable?  I imagine that images are 'judged' in JPEG format on a monitor and selections will then will be printed in a book Blurb in final print sizes.

    Of course, I don't want no degradation of image quality and don't want images automatically enlarged to 8 x 12 inches.  Some of my pictures are square and do not change to 8 x 12.  A peak is also a small area of the original image and don't know if she's going to explode well at 8 x 12, so don't want that it is automatically expanded to 8 x 12 inches.  Shooting a D300 in raw if that matters.

    This new and pretty clueless so apologize if I ask an obvious question.  Any help appreciated, but looking for recommendations made by the exact LR5 export settings I have to enter.  Thank you.

    I guess you need to send to the digital photo contest and not a print.

    In this case, I would say the problem is that the rules of the competition really don't make sense if they talk about DPI. DPI applies only to copies, not digital photos.

    So, we could also assume that they will really you should produce a JPG file which is not bigger than 8 x 12 at 300PPI, in which case you would be:

    (a) if the cropped picture is greater than 2400 x 3600, export the photo by clicking "Resize to fit" and then selecting the height and width as the ppi, 2400 x 3600 pixels and 300.

    (b) if the cropped photo is less than 2400 x 3600, export the photo to uncheck "resize to fit.

    I wonder about how someone has launched a photo contest would not know the difference between the PPP and the PPI. You can check with the administrator of the contest they were really talking ppi, just so that we can confirm that the assumptions that I use here are correct.

  • Crop tool: specific dimensions?

    Hello

    Does anyone know if we can fix an image size (for example, 5 x 7 in.) when cropping in LT?

    Thank you!

    You harvest for a report. You export a size. RAW files have no pixel of a few inches. inches of importance than printing when you need a certain number of pixels per inch (DPI) often (wrongly) refereed to as dpi. Set your ppi in export, then the size of the output image. So to print 5 X 7 inches at 300 dpi (normal resolution for printing) crop you according to a fixed ratio of 5 X 7 the ppi to 300 and set the dimensions 1500 x 2100 pixels (or just more long side 2100). You can do all this in the print module by putting the ppi that you want and LR will migrate or down in size according to the needs and then send directly to a printer connected to the computer, or in jpg format to send to a printing service. The print module has many other options, if you make an impression and is better than just using export, especially if you want to print a picture on a paper with borders rather than cropping size.

    This is not possible if you are talking about the planning of an Application. The user must have admin access to change any member property.

  • Scaling to fit the specific dimensions of the .swf files

    Does it matter what size a flash file is defined as once the .swf is exported and placed on a web page (for example)? I just did a test and it worked fine-scale to fit in a smaller area, but I was wondering if it is a good practice or if the .swf files are always scalable (which is great!).

    (It was 800 x 600 and put across 500 x 300ish)

    Thank you!

    OK, that makes sense - as long as it's all vectors, it's ok, but if I have an image, and then make sure I know the dimensions in the front?

    Thank you!

  • Resize to specific dimension

    Hello

    My client wants me to reproduce the 12 images for a web slide show of HUGE (I have the original raw files) up to 760 x 300 pixels.  I hit a brick wall. How to evolve these images.

    PS CS5

    Thank you...

    The crop tool by 300 px 760 px value (you need to write in "px"). Then choose your crop.

    You will need to throw of Visual information (e.g. harvest things), or seriously alter images. Another option would be to have a very small image with a color (such as black) or a model at left and right.

    With the original on top, you can see the options available for harvest.

  • Designjet T120: Can't trace file size D (T120)-specific PDF drawing

    Hi all

    Having problems trying to draw a PDF specific drawing D-size (SolidWorks saves) on our plotter T120.  It plots just fine in the sizes A, B and C, but when I try D, it just hangs, then times out with an error.  I tried to update drivers, run the HP diagnostic utility, run the utility from Microsoft, etc. but nothing seems to work.  I traced several other designs in the past in D format without any problem (tried a while ago with a different design of PDF and it worked fine).  Looking for ideas...

    In which case it is important:

    * Wireless printing

    * The PDF file size is 1.30 MB (spools up quickly to 13.4MB/15.7MB then crashes)
