Drive mapping shared with VPN access

I'm the only person in our company (small) with a Mac and I work remotely. I consulted my company using Network Connect VPN successfully.

I'm now trying to map the shared drive.

Under "OK" > "Connect to Server" I entered the address of the server ("smb: / /...") (' etc.) because it has been given to me. When I click on connect I get an error "there was a problem connecting to the server '[server address]'. The server may not exist or it is not available at this time. Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection and then try again. »

I tried a number of variations of the server address - none worked.

In the Finder, under the heading "Shared Disks", all I can see is an empty folder "servers".

When I'm on wifi office internal society, we were able to map the drive. But nothing has worked so far not remotely, remotely.

Can anyone suggest a solution?

I solved my problem. I needed to use the IP address of the server, not the full smb: / / URL etc.

    Hello

Make sure that the mapped drive is configured to share and works on part.

Auto-mappage will not work if there is a problem with sharing.

    Maybe this can help.

Make sure that the software firewall on each computer allows free local traffic. If you use 3rd party Firewall on, Vista/XP Firewall Native should be disabled, and the active firewall has adjusted to your network numbers IP on what is sometimes called the Zone of confidence (see part 3 firewall instructions

Please note that some 3rd party software firewall continue to block the same aspects it traffic Local, they are turned Off (disabled). • I can't use windows Explorer or the network drive mapping to access my NAS drive more.

    original title: strange NAS problem

Hi everyone I can't seem to fix this strange problem.

I can't use windows Explorer or the network drive mapping to access my NAS drive more.
I am running windows 7 Professional 32-bit on my PC, and until about a week ago she accessed from my PC very well.

The location could not be reached and have not been able to run since said today that I went to update it and the drive mapped. I'm at my wits end.

    Here is some info.

I can access to other computers and devices on my network.

    I can access the internet.
I have a windows XP PC in the House who can always connect to my fine NAS drive (even if it's not mine).
    I PING the NAS drive.
The NAS drive will do the same if connected via cable or by wireless.

UPDATE: after the implementation of a shared folder on a Windows XP computer on the same network I am also unable to acsess the part of my PC. So I can assume that I can't browse all share folders or NAS drives on my local network.

    Help, please.

Thanks for the help, but I fixed my problem

Here's what I did in case anyone wants to know.

I went into Device Manager and went to network adapters.
I then expanded this section and under view changed to display hidden items.
Several hundred elements appears (for most 6to4 adapters) and I deleted all the.
Then click scan for new hardware.
    And... everything works again! YAY!

  • Only 200 NAS with 2 drives - maps

    Hello

I have the 200 NAS with 2 separate drives and turned on for a while now. I recently formatted one of my computers (Windows XP) and built a new machine (WIN7). For some reason when I run the utility on a system drive mapping, that a single player maps. I can log into the NAS and browse through 'my files', and I don't get any errors or messages on this second disc being out of sorts.

Let me know if you need additional information and any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi amcop4591,

    1. How is - that Mount you the drive on the computer?

2 Di you use any third-party tool to mount the drive?

I suggest that you remove the external drive using the disk management and check back later if you can change the permissions on the drive.

If you change the permissions, make changes to the permissions on the drive and then mount the drive.

  • VPN site-to-site between two PIX 501 with Client VPN access

Site A and site B are connected with VPN Site to Site between two PIX 501.

Also, site A is configured for remote access VPN client. If a remote client connects to Site A, it can only get access to the LAN of Site A, it cannot access anything whatsoever behind PIX on Site B.

How is that possible for a VPN client connected to Site A to Site B?

    Thank you very much.

    Alex

    Bad and worse news:

Bad: Not running the 7.0 series PIX cannot route traffic on the same interface, the traffic is recived. Version 7.0 solves this ipsec traffic.

Even worse: PIX 501 can not be upgraded to 7.0...

A couple of things to think about would be the upgrade to hardware that can run the new IOS or allowing a VPN R.A. on site B.

HTH Please assess whether this is the case.

    Thank you

  • Access PIX using SSH when connected remotely with VPN client

    Hello

I think that this should be a fairly simple for someone to sort for me - I'm new to PIX configuration If Yes please excuse my stupidity!

I changed the config on our PIX to allow only access via SSH (rather than via telnet as it was previously configured)

Now, everything works fine when I'm in the office - I can connect to the PIX using SSH without any problem.

However, if I work from home and connect to the office using my VPN client (IPSEC tunnel ends on the PIX firewall itself) I find that I can not connect to the PIX.

I have configured the PIX to access ssh on the office LAN subnet and the client pool of IP addresses used for VPN connections by using the following commands:

    SSH 172.64.10.0 255.255.255.0 inside

    SSH 192.28.161.0 255.255.255.0 inside

where the 1st line is reference to the office's LAN, which works very well, and the 2nd line denotes the IP address pool configured on the PIX for VPN access.

Can someone tell me how to fix this? I have the feeling that its something pressing!

    Thank you

    Neil

  • Mapped network drive letter conflict with external storage / USB key

I have traced a number of network drives in Windows 7 (:) drive F: to J. Whenever I insert a USB key, it receives a drive letter of one of the network drives mapped, making the network itself inaccessible drive (actually, the reader is always displayed as a mapped network drive, it only contain data from USB).

I think that this is a known issue at least since Windows XP. I even found a fix for Windows XP, but it seems that he has not yet fixed in Windows 7.

    Any ideas?

I would like to find a solution that I don't have to assign V: to Z: my readers to network to make room for USB keys.

    Thank you very much!

    Hello

We have had this problem also and use USBDLM to solve. It's a service that you install and it 'redirects' usb mailbox available if the one they want to use is already taken by a network drive or another usb. See the link below

  • A drive mapped on the XP computer to reconnect to a Windows 7 computer

I have a XP Home Edition on a peer-to-peer network computer.  I drives mapped to a new Windows 7 computer, but they are now disconnected and will not remap.  I had disabled the XP computer over the weekend and now I can remap the readers, I need to access.  Any suggestions?

    Try to establish basic connectivity...
    Start-> Run-> '\\Win7Computer '.
Or you override the network name of your machine Windows 7 for "Win7Computer."

I also find that sometimes, errors in a command prompt window are more descriptive of a problem...  Try to bring up a command window (start-> Run-> "cmd" "") and enter the command:
    NET use * \\Win7Computer\sharename
Where you replace your network name of machine Windows 7 for "Win7Computer" and replace it with a "share name" network shared folder name  You can also replace a drive letter (for example "G:" for the *)

  • Windows logon fails when network drive mapping

I can no longer map a network drive of my laptop Vista business to my PC (XP).   I enter a username/password valid name, but I still not unsuccessful logon.   I read a gazillion discussions and have made the change to the recommended without result SECPOL tool.

What makes me mad, it's this used to work!   I recently had to physically move the PC (renovation of the kitchen) and perhaps its something stupid like a missed connection.  Yet, I have access to the internet very well.  I can ping 192.168.0.3 192.168.0. * I'm confused comment.3 is affected. My tivo est.4 and I tested this connection and that's fine.

I even had a network printer set up works very well: Photosmart \\192.168.0.3\HP...

The only area involved is WORKGROUP.   I created an account "lapguest" on the PC specifically for this purpose

I forget some syntax?   The GUI said essentially the same thing.

    C:\Users\Wendy>net use w: \\192.168.0.3\pcc * / USER: WORKGROUP\lapguest
    Type the password for \\192.168.0.3\pcc:
    86 the system error occurred.

The specified network password is not correct.

    C:\Users\Wendy>net use w: \\192.168.0.3\pcc * /USER:\\192.168.0.3\lapguest
    Type the password for \\192.168.0.3\pcc:
The context of the user provided is not valid.

More help is available by typing NET HELPMSG 3775.

I think its something stupid, I forgot, but he is elusive.     I also put the name of the computer in the 192.168.0.3 place, but it does not help.  There is no involved DNS.

Using the graphical interface, I can browse the network to find the folder to add, but there is nothing under the computer name of the computer.  "pcname" is not a valid host name.   Otherwise download "logon unsuccessful".   I tested the connection on the PC and it is certainly true.

In addition, I traced \\192.168.0.3\C$ successfully, but I got my LOCAL drive (portable) C.   ????  that should be a big clue, but call me clueless...

I even uninstalled mcafee (completely) just in case.  did ' t like it anyway so no biggie.

I know that there is a big DUH when this has been resolved.

Thanks Aaron, but I think I did it to her.

In the meantime, I decided to try sharing in the opposite direction.   Which made me respond finally that est.1 which est.2 whos.3.   A lot of listening to ipconfig.     What etait.3.2 is the last time.  (the est.2 PC and computer laptop est.3)  I still want to understand how these numbers are assigned.

I found the option - rr in my earlier review, but do not know if he had an impact.   Also reluctantly, I created an account with the same name on both systems to try.   First of all, I shared with who.    Later, I could share by using the account name that exists on the PC (lapguest).

I don't really know how the problem etait.2 et.3 mixup questions and/or syntax (file specification must be \\192.168.0.2\share-name) spec not \\PCNAME\share-name and the user must be PCNAME\username) and/or services and windows XP/VISTA problems.  Maybe my new sequence got something instantiated later.   Hope it sticks, whatever it is.   I wrote my orders exactly.  I hope that when I reboot or whether, I not have this problem again.

Ah-ah... before you sign this note, I went to test the laptop via the network printer I had previously put in place of a printed page.  It did not work.  I can't see why.  the specifications of the printer is Photosmart \\192.168.0.3\HP... which was fine before, but now it faudrait.2.  I'll have to add another printer network for the new address.  I hope I remember how to do this.

Now, I can clearly see the benefits of DNS.  Is there a simple way to create a name "servername" instead of having to depend on 192.168.0.n?

  • Remote VPN access - add new internal IP address

    Hello

I have an existing configuration of Cisco VPN client in ASA 5510 for remote access.

    Group password: xxxx

    IP pool: lot10ippool, 172.27.17.240 - 172.27.17.245

    enycrption: 3DES
    authentication: SHA
    ------------------------------------
the connection was successful, and I was able to ping to the internal server 172.47.1.10.
Now, there is demand for remote access VPN even can do a ping to access a new server within LAN, 172.57.1.10 & 172.57.1.20
But with the same VPN access, I was unable to ping the two new IP.
How can I add both IP in order to make a ping by using the same configuration of remote access VPN?
I have attached below existing config (edited version)

    =====

Remote VPN access must allow the connection, but I'm guessing that your ASA does not know how to get to the two new destinations.

You have a name and a static route to the job to 172.47.1.10 Server:

name 172.47.1.10 NarayaServer description Naraya Server

    route inside NarayaServer 255.255.255.255 172.27.17.100 1

.. but no equivalent for the two new hosts. As a result, all traffic of ASA destiny for them will attempt to use the default route (via the external interface).

    If you add:

    route inside 172.57.1.10 255.255.255.255 172.27.17.100

    route inside 172.57.1.20 255.255.255.255 172.27.17.100

(assuming this is your correct entry), it should work.

  • ASA 5505: VPN access to different subnets

    Hi All-

I'm trying to understand how to configure our ASA so that remote users can have VPN access to two different subnets (Office LAN and LAN phone).  Currently I have 3 VLAN configuration - VLAN 1 (inside), VLAN 2 (outside), VLAN 13 (phone LAN).  Essentially, remote users must be able to access their PC (192.168.1.0/24) and also have access to the office phone system (192.168.254.0/24).  Is it still possible?  Here are the configurations on our ASA,

    Hello

Loss of connectivity to the LAN is not really supposed all remove this command UNLESS your network is using another device as their gateway to the Internet. In this case configuration dynamic PAT or political dynamics PAT (as you) would make sense because the LAN hosts would see your VPN connection from the same directly connected network users and would be know to traffic before the ASA rather than their default gateway.

So is this just for VPN usage and NOT the gateway on the LAN?

If it is just the VPN device I'd adding this

    global interface (phones) 10

He would do the same translation for 'phones' as he does on 'inside' (of course with different PAT IP)

  • Satellite A300-1OM - Media sharing with XBox 360

I'll have some real problems share my media with my Xbox 360 using my home wireless network.

I used to connect my 360 to the internet via internet sharing with my laptop connected via Ethernet. I now borrow a wireless adapter for the 360 that still lets connect me to the internet on the 360, but I can no longer access my portable music library or find a PC Windows Media Centre when searching for the network on my 360.

My laptop is running Windows 7 64 bit. When I display 'network' appears from my own laptop, my second laptop computer connected to the network is also shown, and the 360 is also indicated in the devices section of media. Under 'Options of Streaming Media' my 360 is also listed and given full access to my portable media.

When my laptop is connected directly to my 360 via Ethernet the music library and video library works great, like Windows Media Center.

Anyone know of any solution to this problem? I guess it will just be a problem with some settings on my laptop as opposed to a problem with my Xbox. Any advice much appreciated!

    Hey bradleyheap,

To be honest it is very difficult to answer your question. In my opinion, you should ask question biotechnology in Xbox forum o somewhere else. I think that it is not related to Toshiba

Anyway, if everything works with the LAN cable, you should check the firewall options. Try turning off the Windows Firewall and update the driver WLAN from your laptop.

Sorry, but everything that s what I can say at the moment.

  • Wireless Internet with 'limited access '.

I tried to connect my new laptop Dell Vista to our network wireless at home. After many unsuccessful attempts (due to an unknown "logon doamin") I was finally able to connect to our server, however, with "limited access". Despite having "limited access" internet still does not work. Is anyway to solve this? We currently have two other laptops that work well on the wireless network.

    Hello

Your router could be suspicious here, you have successfully updated its firmware as a possible solution? And I would like to
Update your WiFi drivers on computers. How you are positioned in the router? Are there
obstacles in the path? Make sure that the computer is trying to connect to the correct router as there may be
    another strong signal near her.

Other Vista computers? You use the WPA/WPA2 security?

Actually try updating your driver and disabling the network logon. Use a wired connection or download
pilots on another machine and transfer on removable media.

Control Panel - network - write down of the brand and the model of the Wifi - double click top - tab of the driver - write
version - click the driver update (cannot do something that MS is far behind the pilots of certification). Then
Right click on the Wifi device and UNINSTALL - Reboot - it will refresh the driver stack.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

How to install a device driver in Vista Device Manager
    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/193584-Device-Manager-install-driver.html

Download - SAVE - go where you put it - right click – RUN AS ADMIN.

You can download several at once however restart after the installation of each of them.

After watching the system manufacturer, you can check the manufacturer of the device an even newer version. (The
manufacturer of system become your backup policies).

Repeat for card (NIC) network and is a good time to get the other updated drivers as Vista like
    updated drivers.

I would also turn off auto update for the drivers. If the updates Windows suggests a just HIDE as they
are almost always old, and you can search drivers manually as needed.

Make sure you know the details of connection to your wireless router - SSID and password.

You lose connection when you do and have to redo your logon.

Control Panel - Network & Sharing Center - right, click Customize - page set of network locations.
lower left click on merge or delete network locations - REMOVE all instances of your network (and the
others you don't use anymore) - REBOOT. Start - Connect To log on to the network.
