  There are no drivers available at HP, except the pre-installed Windows drivers.

  There are 3 generic drivers, that you can try.
  The Deskjet 990c, Deskjet 9800 and the Deskjet 970Cse.

  I don't know if they will work but for Windows 2000.

  1. click on the start menu.
  2. click on Control Panel.

  3. open the Printers folder.

  4. Select Add a printer.

  Follow the steps, select the HP name and the printer in the list.

  You can try using a different driver for printing, other features will not be available however:

  5. Follow the steps on the screen to complete the wizard.

  I don't know how this is required, but it works now

  I had to fix on the printer through the actual IP address
