dv4t-5100 (A9Q30AV): HP DV4t-1500 recovery

1A the question: How can I use the Image on a recovery partition (D to repair the Image of the Win7 OS (C without having to start first in Image OS Win7?))  I was able to create a system repair disc, while the system has been started in Win7 temporarily.

Question 1(b): can I first try to fix just the Win 7 OS image (C vs did a new install (destroys all the data for the current user and installed SW)?)  I guess I boot the system by using the system repair disc/DVD (boot change to have the DVD to boot before the start of the HARD drive).

Question 2: Is there a way to create a set of Win 7 OS install disc (DVD - Windows 7 64B Recovery Kit/3 DVD) using the Image to install on the recovery Partition (D without boot in Win 7 OS and running the Recovery Manager (rebecca.exe) on my system dv4t (for example copy/replace the Recovery Partion on my g6 Pavillion) with the data of my Partition Recovery dv4t (D.))  See bleow options to copy the recovery Partition (file copying or using Copy Utility, then the HARD disk partition)?  I already created the for the g6 Pavilion recovery disk, but not the dv4t).

Background

-Blue system projected with a Kernel error and would not reboot (Normal Mode and Safe Mode) again.  Ran offline SMART test drive HARD fast/short, stopped with error 303 (Toshiba 2.5 HDD 500 MB).  Indicates that the HARD drive is dying.

-Deletion of dv4t HDD and mounted on my Elitebook 8460p using a USB 2.0 to SATA adapter.

-J' have managed to copy all files from the user, I was interested on a 1 TB portable HARD drive (~ 320GB).  Now able to painfully deliver my whole system (new install, reinstall all the SW, then put data into the required location/directories).  Not as desirable that repair Win 7 OS image and then make a System Image backup, replace the HARD drive and restore the System Image backup.

-Ran chkdsk on the drive HARD dv4t (read-only).  No problem with step 1 (checking files).  Step 2 (checking index) were 4 errors (all the same index/130$, 2 files 94467 and 270145 impacted).

-Ran chkdsk/f, to correct the errors.  Index corrected $ 130, both files 94467 and 270145 adjusted.  In stage 2, after

SD/SIDs checked and checked the USN Journal, he has spent a lot of time correcting errors in the Volume Bitmap.  I left the program before he completed the correction of the Volume bitmap (took more than one night).

-After the chkdsk /f.  I put the HARD drive in the dv4t and he was able to start completely new in Win 7 (normal start-up).

-C' is when I created the system repair disc)

-system was very slow.  responds very slowly.  I did not start the Recovery Manager (rebecca.exe).

-After a while, the system crashed again, I was not able to completely reboot in Win 7.

((- for restart, see you file loading, logo Win 7, then finally will get message that Windows did start no successuflly the last time, then option 1) repair BONE or 2) normal start.

-made him remove the disk HARD again, ran chkdsk in read-only, view errors, error correction.  Now, I have been through a few iterations of it.  I have failed to launch the Recovery Manager to start the creation of the recovery for the dv4t diskette.

-knowledge I can order the Kit for $25 HP recovery disk (you can assume that I used to work for HP for a long time).

-I would first try to repair the image of Win 7 OS first before giving up and do a fresh install and destroy all the data on the C: partition (I'll also have to replace the HARD drive, when the time comes).

Thank you

-

I have 2 laptops: Pavillion dv4t and g6.

I have a set of recovery disks (5 DVD) created the G6 on for the g6.

My dv4t does not start in Windows 7.  I don't have to create the recovery disk (3 installation DVD with the operating system disc) before their start dv4t.   I was able to create a system for the dv4t repair disc, but did not create set of recovery disks (3 DVDs, including the OS image and peripheral dv4t installable drivers).  The recovery Partition (D of the dv4t HDD doesn't have a problem (chkdsk passes).)

Why can't I fly over the recovery Partition dv4t to Pavillion g6 HARD drive using Disk Imaging software like Acronis to off the shelf and then start the g6 Pavillion and run Recovery Manager (rebecca.exe) and create the dv4t Recovery Disc Set (3 DVD)?

Thank you

I have 2 laptop computers HP (dv4t and Pavilion g6) that both have Win 7 Home Premimum 64-bit installed.  I used the Recovery Manager (rebecca.exe) on the g6 Pavillion to created a set of recovery disc for Paviliion G6 (finished with 5 DVDs).

    Hello

Yes, absolutely, you have all the right points, before moving on to another I rather suggest you test the HARD drive on the computer. You can check the below mentioned steps.

    • Switch off the appliance.
    • To turn back press the power button and as soon as you release, keep pressing the "ESC" key, unless a screen comes up, you might want to wait a minute while tapping the button.
    • In the start menu, choose F2 - System Diagnostics.
    • Under the component Test it would be HARD drive test (generally, it is recommended that you perform a Quick Test and extended).
    • After you choose the Quick Test, click on run once.

If it passes you can proceed with the trial extended, if he fails to give a call to customer support at the number mentioned below, to check the repair options, which should be covered by the guarantee, to check the status of security here is the link -

    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/weInput?cc=us & lc = in.

If the Extended test passes so you can spend with the recovery process.

Although I work for HP, but I am personally.

  • Fan of D4T - 1500 HP continuous switching speed between hi and lo

My laptop is switching speed between lo and hi when the battery and the AC adapter / CC are connected.  If disconnected the unit is operating normally.  It does not matter if I have a window open, 3, 6...   I replaced the original battery (2009) with a battery 8800mAh to increase time between charges about 6 months ago.  The battery has a bump to raise the notebook off the surface, it's on and improve the flow of air.  Everything was fine until a few days ago.  The Unit feels not hot when the bike fan starts but stops immediately after disconnecting the adapter or pulling on the battery.  Any thoughts?  Thank you.

Thank you for visiting the Forums HP's Support and welcome. I read your thread on your HP Pavilion dv4t-1500 Notebook and having issues with the fan switch to salvation and weak. Try perform a reset. When you perform a hard reset note remove all USB devices and remove cards memory card reader location. Disconnect all non-essential devices. If that doesn't help try to turn on the computer, on which you begin to press F11 repeatedly until the menu opens. You can do a System Restore. System Restore will return the computer before this fan problem began.

Here is a link to test and calibrate the battery. Here is a link to test the ac adapter.

If everything fails, you can try to restore the default BIOS. This would force the machine to look at what the material is on the laptop.

    Hope it will be useful.

    Thank you.

  • Hard drive crashed, the new SSD and faded COA

    Hi all

My laptop HP pavilion dv4t-1500 with a 500 GB hard drive is dead.  I bought a new 256 GB SSD to replace.  If I order the HP recovery discs, they will work as the new hard drive size is different?  I read in the forums that it may not work.

I also read in the forums that I can use the product key from COA to install a new copy of windows 7.  However the 6 characters of the product key is faded

If the recovery disks will not work, HP will give me the original COA product key so that I can do a fresh install?

I bought a cheap SSD and I really don't want to face the prospect of having to buy a new windows license!

Yesterday I received the HP recovery discs.  Installed perfectly on the 250 GB SSD.

It seems that there are no restrictions with the recovery process, even after using a hard/SSD with a capacity different from the original OEM hard drive.

  • Loose hinges.

I'm a big fan of HP and have owned 3 laptops to date. Unfortunately Pavilion dv4t 1500, I've owned in 3 years has broken/loose its hinges. My screen is very loose and the display flashes. Y at - it no manual for dv4t 1500 for the display changes where I can my phone dissamble and tighten the hinges? Any other suggestions

    Thank you

At this point, it seems that the video cable has developed a break in it _ I think it was sent on the edge of the repair. It was probably marginal to lie first with your hinge problem.

For now, you can perform a hard reset _ unplug the adapter and all _ the battery.

Press and hold the power button for 1 minute _ only the adapter plug back in and start _ the next time, he stopped just install the battery. (who can solve your problem again, but unlikely)

Another common problem that people face is that the cable was not inserted until the bottom of the motherboard and/or not squarely in the cap of the MoBo _ this must be checked before assuming the cable is broken.

Also look for things twisted on the MoBo _ test pins before fully assembling the machine.

Do you need help to find a new cable (assuming that the old man is pulled)?

Good for you on the repair BTW _ not many people can fix a lptop.

  • Optical drive fails to read most DVD

Product: HP Pavilion dv4t-1500, Windows 7 64 bit OEM.

A few weeks ago, my DVD drive stopped reading DVDs. I put a DVD and close the door and turns upward, then worms down, turns up, then down. And most of the time it never load the video content. Often, it is rather a dialog box asking if I want to burn a CD/DVD.

I first thought that I had a defective CD/DVD drive. So, I bought one on eBay for $23 (taking care to get exactly the same drive). The same behavior persisted. So, I put the original disk in.

I found an article online that said something about the upper filters, and I followed these instructions. Still no change.

I then did a manual removal of the optical drive drivers by using Device Manager. After the restart and Windows loads, I tried again, and there was still no change.

Then I did a system restore to the restore backup hard disk. Still no change.

I'm at a loss to know what to do now. I can't do a clean install of an OEM installation. I have to buy a Windows 7 upgrade for $119 do a clean install. But before that I have to do a clean install of XP Pro, but I can't do it because I have not the SATA drivers are needed.

Any ideas on how to get the Windows 7 system and its optical driver play together? Thank you!

    You are the very welcome.

I can't update the firmware of any kind (HARD drive, optical drive) on the support page and the driver of your laptop.

    Enjoy your PC.

I always found that they seem to go much more vivid when you make your own custom installation of a simple BONE and just add the necessary drivers and software you need.

    Best regards

    Paul

  • Is DV4T 5100 supports 1600 mhz RAM?

    I'm about to buy the DV4T 5100 (i7Q, 650 m) with 4 GB of DDR3 RAM.

I was talking with a representative of the sales on the speed of the RAM, and she told me that it is only of 1333 mhz.

Is the 5100 DV4T supports 1600 mhz RAM?

Run to run this utility from Crucial and it will tell you for sure.

    http://www.crucial.com/systemscanner/

In General although he will not use the RAM at 1600 Mhz, you can install it, but it cannot make the laptop all run faster.

  • Recovery partition (drive D) disappeared. (HP DV4T-1600)

    Hello..

I just formatted to make original by default using 4 recovery disks (burned with recovery run, of course)

If I kind of got hurt, it's now successfully on setting EXCEPT initial changes to the default recovery partition.

Before it is formatted D drive or partition D is designated as HP Recovery, but NOW it is called as HP tools.

Space recovery (OR course, TOOLS HP) is only 99.9 MB (this was 60 GB or something BEFORE the factory setting)

because I remember that the C drive space has 210 or something (TOTAL 298 GB) but now it's just together 297 GB.

Also, when I access the Recovery Manager, it says that I don't have any recovery partition.

Sorry, this might seem confusing, but

Does anyone know how 'set' or 'reappear' recovery partition D so that I can use for recovery?

It is a part of the specification of my lap top

    HP DV4T-1600

    T4300 2.10 GHz

    Product #: VP181AV

    HARD drive: 298 GB (total)

    A response would be appreciated.

    Thank you.

I think that your system came with 320 GB hard drive. Doing the recovery using the recovery kit, the recovery partition was not created. The HP Tools partition is a partition that will help you diagnoze the system hardware without having to start Windows.

If you want to retrieve the recovery partition, you must re-run the recovery process by using the disks again. However, I would say you ignore the recovery parition and start using the system.

  • Envy dv4t Notebook: SmartPlacement on hard drive?

    Hello people,

My younger son helps people bring their computers from the dead and lonely people gave envy dv4t Notebook in question here having decided to upgrade to a newer version. He has in turn gave it to me.

I preferred App Defrag and after install and opening it, I see that the harddrve is not configured for SmartPlacement. Which is, of course, a major requirement for this application to function properly.

I open the BIOS (which has a date of 2013 of origin) and see Nothing on SmartPlacement anywhere.

Am I right in thinking, I might as well uninstall my Defrag app and just use the good old Windows Defrag?

    Thanks in advance... Mark

    God bless... Mark

    Hello new SDF15,

Do you already have an application with a unique built-in function/feature the feature simply NEED becomes (for you) is just a function which all THE systems have?

Well, even before receiving response from Raxco my dilemma and after watching again the problem, the answer has jumped off the screen of the laptop. 1, the hard drive is (logically) configured with the D:\Recovery of patitioned in car first on the disk. Then, of course, SmartPlacement, which is first reading the first partition is said that there is a problem here.

The real C:\ drive shows SmartPlacement works very well!

Once again, thank you for your patience... Mark

  • Want to downgrade to genuine Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows Server 2003 on my HP Pavilion DV4t-1600

    Hello

IM struggling to downgrade my factory installed windows 7 to windows server 2003 on my HP Pavilion DV4t-1600

Pls help me to do that and also provide me with changes to the BIOS (if any)

    Hi Virginia,

If you have the full support for Windows Server 2003 (not an upgrade), your only option is to install clean (full). You can not downgrade Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows Server 2003. You must do a clean install. Back up your important files, start the Windows Server 2003 DVD and proceed with the installation as usual.

Don't forget to mark this reply as useful if it helped you, and let me know what happens.

  • How do I know what hardware I have in my dv4t?

I have a Pavilion dv4t-4100 and the hard drive crashed. I installed a new hard drive and the OS, but I don't know what drivers I need to download for my network adapter, and other hardware components where there are several choices of drivers and components on download drivers support page.

I hope that there is a way to determine what material I disassemble my laptop.

Or maybe I could just download all the drivers and Windows will choose the good ones for the various hardware components?

    Thanks for any help!

We would need your specific model number to provide you with information about your hardware, unless you can give us a little more information. Do you have what version of Windows installed? 64 or 32-bit? You can try Windows Update and it will usually provide achievable drivers for the majority of the components or you can simply open the Device Manager and find all devices with errors (unmanned) and view the ID of the hardware for each and we will connect you to the drivers. It shows how to find the hardware ID in Windows 7 Device Manager:

    http://www.technize.info/3-ways-to-find-unknown-device-drivers-in-Windows/

Post back with the device ID and we'll find you drivers.

  • removing the disc HARD dv4t-5300

Oops someone showed me where the maintenance manual is on this.  Thank you!

I just bought a laptop HP dv4t-5300 series.  I removed the small bottom plate to find that there are no screws to remove the disk hard so that I can put in my drive SSD OCZ Vector (w00t).  Dv6t-7300 there is two screws and disc hard this spell.

I can't find any on HDD removal textbooks and when I called technical support HP says the hard drive can't get out and it is a particular size for a SSD will not fit.  The hard drive is a standard 2.5 "and I think that the tech knew what he was talking about.

Anyone would be able to seat me with where to find a manual or something on this computer?  Usually youtube or some forum or Internet HP site it would, but I can't find anywhere, anything on this computer again.  Sometimes, you have to remove the keyboard in order to install things but I don't want to start taking everything as part of discover that it's just a hidden screw or something.

    Thank you!

    Hello:

I agree that you have received incorrect information.

Here is the link to the service manual for your PC.

  • Possible to connect an external monitor for laptop HP Pavilion dv4t-4200 CTO

I have a HP Pavilion dv4t-4200 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC model # A1M02AV and it has a VGA, one port that resembles a cable port phone/broadband and one that looks like a USB port, but indented on each side down. I can even connect an external monitor? How will I know if I have more than 1 video card? In addition to the usual USB/headphone ports, I have not all ports. He says that my drivers are up to date... but I don't know even what I'm looking for. Do I need to install something or buy some kind of adapter?

I'm trying to connect an external Dell montitor via the VGA port with a VGA cable. The monitor has power, but my laptop does not detect recognize them / it. However, when I plugged in the first time in, my laptop screen has shrunk in a square (vs the entire screen) so he acknowledged something... but nothing happened on the external monitor.

I tried to detect through my display settings, but I have accidentally changed some display setting until the reception desk shows only 1 monitor, but not selected my real laptop screen or something or changed to be Monitor 2 (even if there is no monitor 1), so when I plug the cable into my laptop suddenly my desktop disappears and it's just a white background screen - and I cannot access the screen of the computer settings or whatever whatever... when the cable is disconnected this setting seems to be normal, so I can not understand how to fix it.

Sorry, I don't know what I'm doing here - please help!

    Hello

All Dell monitors are equipped with CD for the drivers. Your laptop may not know the monitor without its driver, it will not install automatically. Please check:

Ringht click an empty space on the desktop,

    Click Customize

    Click on display

    Click on change display settings

You can see the TWO laptop screen and external monitor in there, as shown in the following image:

For the test, I put my Dell monitor is my main screen. If I can't see 2 monitors, you need its driver first and then check the cable.

    Kind regards.
