DV7t-7000 / A5F92AV: updated SATA drive question

Hello

I'm looking to replace this original SATA3 drive in my DV7t-7000 with 2 new drives.  I am interested in Samsung 850 EVO 250 GB SSD for the boot drive and a digital Western WD10JPLX (1 TB/7200 RPM/min/SATA3/4096 block).  I need some advice on if these components will work with my older HP laptop.

I did some research and I'm not sure a 1 TB/7200 RPM would be recognized by the system.  I read where I might need to go with a drive 5400 RPM instead (again, not sure).  I am also concerned by the 4096 AF (Advanced Format) specs on the new drive compared to my old drive.  I read some of the latest discs may work in 512th (emulation) to be compatible with older systems.  I have looked for the specs SATA on my laptop and can't find if it would support the AF 4 k format.

If someone with more familiarity with the Player upgrades could let me know if these discs would work for my upgrade (or suggest other specifications that would be better), I'd be happy.  I can always buy a new version of the original disk of 1 TB for less money, but the new WD Black drive has a warranty vs 5 years the 2 years on the OEM Seagate drive.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Dean

Because it's just going to be storage, everything you need to do is put the 1 TB drive in and use the disk management console to initialize it, partition, format, and assign drive letters (Mount). Windows 7 or a works perfectly with the advanced format drives.

    Hi all

This problem is a BIOS problem more precisely with the memory reference Code (MRC) version 1.4.0.0 or more. Contact the manufacturer of your system or the card mother for an update system for your system BIOS or the motherboard that includes the MRC 1.5.0.0 or newer.
If you have a system with 2 or more memory modules and are comfortable with the removal of all but one of them so that your memory is in single channel mode, try and remove all but one of them and the problem will disappear. This can be used as a workaround until you are able to update your BIOS from the manufacturer of your system or motherboard that includes the MRC 1.5.0.0 or newer.

    Hello

My problem is that I opened my computer broke a zif connector.  The power button connector to be exact.

I was wondering if there was a part number or a place I could find the right connector and just replace.

Without that part, the computer is basically a paperweight.

    Thank you

What do you mean that seized? You have lost the piece of plastic "closer"? Or what? The zif connector is not a separate part with a part number. There is a site that specializes in zif connectors. http://www.Mouser.com/search/refine.aspx?keyword=ZIF+connector

  • Can I add a second drive to an edition four dv7t-7000?

The HP parts store said on a drive has been supported, but configuration options have shown

I had hoped that I could add a caddy and power/bus connector from the parts store.

Only, I have configured the machine with a drive and add a second drive (from my dv7 dead 3085 dx).

The machine is supposed to arrive June 18

    Thanks for the ideas...

The answer is a qualified Yes.

The kit suitable for the dv7t-7000 is ' 681976-001.  This kit comes with the

Caddy and a power/bus short and long cable. It also has some screws

the disk drive on the caddy.

It contains also the 2 screws M2.5xL4 which will be attached the main drive caddy to the

the computer chassis, but there is no screws to attach the second drive caddy to

    the framework.

    the recommended screws are 2.5 M x 9 L.

I picked up two 2.5 M x 8L live in ACE hardware work fine.

  • XPS 8500 additional SATA Drive add...cable/power questions

Nothing on sites Web of Dell (after two hours of seraching, including a chat with a Dell representative session) on how to add a hard drive from a dell computer. I'm simply confused (this happens regularly) it is difficult to find, or you really need to add a simple video on how to add an extra SATA (how many times people do that?).

No info on cables, power supplies, how many readers you can add, etc.

So this is the kind of thing I need... Thank you! How do I add a SATA, which cable does, esp if the slots for the cables are already taken by the BluRay player... can get a cable SATA outputs multiple?

    Thanks for your help.

    Rick Bauer

    Colorado_RBauer

Thanks, Bev... screw seems to be the only parts I have.

I am therefore reason to believe that I can put only two disks sata in this 8500, right? and we're already here, so I can really only add one, correct?

Where are you going to get the good SATA cable?

the manual referenced does not something specific on SATA wiring part I looked. Should not be too much of a pest, but do you have a specific reference.

    Rick

    Colorado_RBauer

    Rick,

Yes, you can add an additional hard disk, the disk hard primary exsisting. to add several internal hard drives, you need an open 3.5"/5.25" bay and to install more than four SATA drives, SATA PCIe x 1 expansion card would be necessary.

You should be able to buy a SATA data cable in a store of the local computer, or www.newegg.com for more details, go here,

Better to use a local store to save the S & H

Sorry to say, that the manual is the only reference that Dell has released, as most newer Dell manuals, missing many details.

Install the secondary hard drive is usually relatively in line forward, you must connect the data cable to a SATA connector on the motherboard, and after installation checking the installation process, to see if the drive is recognized.

If the drive is recognized in the installation program for Windows to recognize the second hard drive, it must be patitioned, formatted and received a drive letter using disk Windows 7 Manager.

  • dv7t 7000 ssd upgrade

I have two HDD of 750 GB (7200 RPM) HARD drive on my HP Dv7t 7000 and want to update the primary drive to a Samsung 850 Pro 512 GB SSD. When I checked my maintenance and Service of Guide, I noticed it says that my computer supports a 160 GB SSD.

This means that what I think it means? Can I have no bigger than a 160 GB SSD? Thanks in advance for the advice.

Not even. This simply means that HP offered only this option with the original purchase. Your selected SSD works perfectly. Don't forget to put it in the main drive HDD - 0 because only this Bay is bootable.

  • HP Pavilion dv7t-7000 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC - Upgrade processor

    Hello

    Any help would be appreciated.

I have a HP Pavilion dv7t-7000 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC.  Due to a new job, I need to update my processor of the current 2.30 GHz (see exact specifications below, please) of at least 3.0 GHz.

Is there a processor 3.0 GHz there that is compatible with this particular computer? I called tech support and they told me they don't know. I don't know who else to ask.

This computer was purchased just a few months ago (before I got the new job). I really don't buy a new computer, if possible, if I can upgrade the processor in it.

Here are the current processor specifications:

    Intel Core i7 3610QM
    Codename Ivy Bridge
    RPGA Socket 988 B package
    The 22nm technology
Specification Intel Core i7-3610QM CPU @ 2.30 GHz

    Thanks in advance.

Well, it seems that one (that I found) 3.0 GHz processor that Intel made for my chipset (HM77 Express Chipset) and it's the Extreme edition i7-3940XM (http://ark.intel.com/products/71096/)

Priced at $1,000 +, it looks like I'll be shopping for a new computer.

Don't know if anyone from HP read the peer forums, however, I won't buy another HP product.

This machine had problems outside of me needing to upgrade the processor for my own personal reasons. Your support is grossly lack in all areas even pull your techscannot model with the serial number.

  • SATA drives works only with Yosemite

It's really a more of a question for the Apple forums, but I do not any progress on this, so I thought I'd throw it to the crowd here. Basically, I'm on Mac OS 10.8 and I wanted to go to CC2015. Can't do that, of course, unless I'm to 10.9. So I decided to jump straight to Yosemite, 10.10.

Only problem, is that Yosemite does not see my searched external SATA drives! Someone else, by chance, met this problem? (BTW, if anyone has any suggestions on how to get 10.9 instead, I'd buy some... of course Apple there is no longer in the Apple store).

    Thanks, Geoff

I think you can go to Detroit to 10.10.

I had a similar problem with my Highpoint Raid card which doesn't see that my external hard drives after upgrade to Yosemite. A driver updated for the card did all this.

So, probably, you will need to send an e-mail to the company of Raid and ask for help.

    All the best

  • Migrating to SATA drive to iMac

Four days ago my MacPro (2010) died. I have four 3 "SATA drives from 1 to 2 to each of Mac Pro. The computer was for business and personal use. Absolutely everything (including financial information) I have is on these four discs, including redundant copies of some files, but also my Time Machine backup.

I will have an envelope coming tomorrow which is a RAID box but will be executed in the independent drive with four drives Mode. My 'new' computer is an iMac (2013), that was given to me.  The iMac and the main SATA drive running the same version of the operating system. I need to resolve this issue quickly so I can return to work. In the immediate future, I intend to operate out of the primary SATA drive to catch up, and then transfer when I'll have a good time to transfer.

My question is the best way to get the entire contents of the primary SATA drive on the iMac's hard drive. I want everything that is on the main SATA drive to put to be on the iMac (including the prefs and hidden folders) of Mac Pro and it would be the same when I booted the Mac Pro.

Can I use migration utility, clone the drive SATA main to the iMac or even use the Time Machine backup?

If I clone the drive, I know that I would have to boot from one disk other than the iMac drive to clone to the iMac. When the primary SATA drive is attached, I need to boot from it by holding down the option key at startup key to select the startup disk.

If I use the Migration utility, it seems I start the iMac, and then run the utility to the iMac of the SATA drive range, which would be connected to the iMac. This would replace all the information on the iMac even though it was the boot drive?

I printed the information on the Migration of Apple Mac help when transferring to another storage device, but it's not quite clear to me.

    Finished migration

  • HP envy 750: attempt to add to new PC SATA drive

You want new 750-150xt to which I want to add my old Pavilion 6380 640 GB SATA drive.  6380 road was only the disk and the disk to boot under Windows 7 64-bit.  Envy has a 256GB SSD as boot drive and a data HD 1 TB drive.

Pulled out of 6380 and added to the Bay, third player hooked up a new "SATA3" on MB black SATA cable and power cable to the drive then gave.  Noticed in passing that my SATA cable did not have a ground wire wrapped with her which was attached to the chassis of the new PC.

By turning on the PC, it would not go beyond the HP splash screen.   Disconnected former player and removed, and the envy of 150 started very well except the logon screen "grated" for 1-2 seconds, then stabilized.  Seems to work normally.

FYI - SATA3 socket on MB was a red taken versus black and only available SATA labeled sockets.  Others were all occupied.

    Any thoughts?

So what is the connected CD drive? Must be the SATA 2. If she jumps from the 1 SATA to SATA 3 something should be available here. The question is not only the availability of a place to connect, it is that the software has progressed where you were with this player and Windows 8/10 uses a completely different approach to find and boot from hard drives.

  • There is an option in the bios to set the sata drive * IDE *-mode?

There is an option in the bios to set the sata drive * IDE *-mode?

    Grobi

    Hi dude

    That s a funny question.
No, there is no option in the BIOS!

Please understand that there are various interfaces to drive HARD. IDE and SATA.

There is a big difference between the two interfaces and the function of the HARD disk on the motherboard controller, you could use a HDD IDE or SATA HDD.

But you cannot connect a SATA HDD to IDE or IDE HDD controller for the SATA controller. This is not possible due to different hardware.
This is not possible and that's why these BIOS settings are not available or don t exist!

    Good bye

Hello, I hope someone here can answer a question for me. I have a 4 year old HP Pavilion dv6-1260se artist edition Entertainment Notebook PC and the hard drive died on me. I have been trading for the replacement of the hard disk and found a 1 TB disk toshiba sata hard I like, the original drive was a 500 GB. I'm a graphic designer in order to available disk space is important in a replacement player. The page of product for my laptop specification does not say if the original hard drive was a sata drive. Did anyone here know if a 1 TB sata drive will work in my laptop? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Your hard drive is SATA. Service and maintenance Guide lists the largest available in 500 GB hard drive. This isn't a definitive answer that your laptop can not use a 1 TB retail hard drive. However, if you use recovery disks Vista to install Windows on it, the more great concern will use a hard drive Advanced Format (AF). Most recent hard drives are AF and Vista will probably not be able to install.
