  This morning (July 30), I've updated by computer for the operating system Windows 10.  Since then, however, my CD/DVD drive is not detected or recognized.

  I use a M30x since 2004 with its CD/DVD drive * a S mat. DVD-RAM UJ-831
  When I was with Windows XP, I have never had problems to read or write on CD, CD - R, DVD, DVD - R or DVD - RW. But recently I installed windows seven, and since that day the drive won't recognize the DVD. I can still read and burn CDs and CD - R. I'm burning the same Virgin DVD-+ R/RW as before, but the drive won't detect them. Those I have already burn are not detected or the other.
  My computer says that the CD/DVD drive work properly and drivers are up to date.
  I tried to clean the lens, but nothing has changed. And I tried to reinstall the drivers, but I could not found for windows seven.

  I opened my laptop to clean-up and it was the first time that I never opened a laptop. Messed up at the opening of the cd/dvd drive.
  Instead of just pulling out, I started its opening screw but quickly realized that this is not the right way. So I took it out. Rest of the disassembly procedure went well and I assembled it back but he little silver r 2 bands and a small source, which I'm sure that belongs to the CD player and I couldn't adapt it.
  And I don't know how it fits.

  I discovered why the player start out with reinstalling windows DVD.
  According to the manual, so that the operating system Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 work, Secure Boot function must be activated. Similarly, restarting the OS Optimized Defaults menu must be activated and when this setting is changed, some BIOS settings are changed automatically including the UEFI / Legacy Boot happening to UEFI.   I had this problem before and I managed to fix it by unplugging and reconnecting the Cd/dvd drive (nothing to lose, no more warranty), but after doing a system restore, the problem resurfaced again.

  Well I have not tried to play anything or anything either burning on my laptop in a while and all of a sudden is not working more I followed suggestions on the microsoft site, but when I went into Device Manager to check on my drive anywhere it lists same CD-ROM/dvd-rom I'm so confused, I don't know what I tried to use microsoft not fixed and it's just as stuck as I am all he tells me it is than its disconnected or missing and cannot be found.

  Oh and while I'm asking questions my sound stopped working a few months back the small volume in the lower right corner icon has an 'x' next to him now and he says: no audio output device is installed, I tried following the suggestions online for this with no luck either. • The CD/DVD drive in my laptop is missing or not detected by my Acer Aspire 4520?

  A while ago my laptop Acer fell and the CD/DVD drive pulled after its fall. I thought for sure that it was broken and my laptop. Fortunately it seems not that this was the case and after that put in does what it normally would, the green light would flash and it seemed to work again. However, I never thought not to test with a DVD or CD to see if it actually worked. Is that recently that I started to use CD for games and other and I found the driver to read the discs, but nothing happened thereafter.

  Well for some time now, I tried to find a solution to my problem. The driver seems to work, but when it comes to playing the discs it do anything more. Some of my other programs such as Windows Media Player saying that my laptop is missing the driver CD/DVD. I also went to the menu of F2 from the laptop to the startup and after looking around, I find that there is no entry for the CD/DVD drive and that the entry is empty. I'm not sure why my laptop can't detect the drive. I tried many things such as the Microsoft Fix It, but ends up giving me an error saying that some components are not well read or something similar to that.
  Any help is greatly appreciated and if there is anything that I can provide for any further help I will do it gladly.
  I should also mention that the CD/DVD does not appear in Device Manager.

  It's a hardware problem, your CD/DVD drive is not detected by your computer. I suggest you to follow the steps and check if it helps.
