No CD/DVD drive detected in Device Manager

I have a hp pavilion dv9925nr portable laptop, running windows vista Home premium, service Pack2.  cd/dvd driver is missing, its not even appears in the Device Manager to all, I tried to scan for it and no luck.   I know it works, I tried the fix it install and I've been in the registry and remove filters superiors, he showed no low filters.  I even put the computer back to factory settings and the dvd player worked fine.  the only thing that worked for a while was to uninstall the game fast and install the latest version and it was working fine but now after a few updates his party once again and now reinstall quick play does not work either.  Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hello

Do you remember the updates that caused the problem?

You can check for them in the update history.

a. open Windows Update by clicking on the button start. In the search box, type Update, and then in the list of results, click Windows Update.
(b) in the left pane, click view update history.
c. to display more information about an update, double-click it.

Check if it is detected in the BIOS.

Warning of the BIOS:

BIOS change / semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

In the meantime, I suggest that you follow the steps below and check if the problem is resolved.

Step 1:

Do the System Restore point that your CD/DVD drive was working normally.

Step 2:

Now, when installing updates, install one by one to determine which update is causing the problem to occur.

.. .i reinstalled the operating system and the drive of dvd/cd rom works for the installation of the operating system, but once it has fully installed the cd/dvd rom drive isn't even appear in Device Manager and it wont even open after the OS is completely booted!

I also tried the regedit solution, but I have no upper or lower filters...

    I use a hp dv6815nr! Help, please!

    Very respectfully,.

    GK07

I thought I had posted the solution.  The upper and lower filters need to be refreshed.  Here is a solution I found on the Adobe forums. http://kb2.Adobe.com/CPS/402/kb402306.html

Refresh the CD and DVD drivers list in the Windows registry.

Warning: The registry contains information on the system that are critical to your computer and applications. Before editing the registry, be sure to make a backup of it. Adobe does not provide support for problems that result from incorrectly modifying the registry. Adobe strongly recommends that you have experience editing system files before you modify the registry. For more information on the Windows Registry Editor, see the Windows documentation or contact Microsoft Technical Support.

To refresh the CD and DVD drivers list in the Windows registry:

Important: After you refresh the list of drivers in the Windows registry, you may need to reinstall any other CD or DVD on your computer to write applications. If you restart Windows after this procedure and other burning CD or DVD applications do not recognize the CD or DVD drive, and then reinstall those applications.

    1. Uninstall your Adobe application.
    2. Open the Registry Editor:
      • On Windows 2000 and XP: click Start > run. Type regedit in the box text open, and then click OK.
      • On Windows Vista: Click Start. Type regedit in the search text box, and then press ENTER.
    3. In the left pane of the registry editor, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class and select the {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} key, which appears as a folder.
    4. Select file > export (Windows XP and Vista) or registry > export a file from the registry (Windows 2000).
    5. In the export registry file dialog box, select the branch selected under export range, name the file (for example, CDDVDkey.reg) and click Save to save the file to the desktop.
    6. In the Panel to the right of the registry editor, select the LowerFilters line, and then choose the editing command > delete. Click Yes in the dialog box confirm deleting key.
    7. Select the UpperFilters line, and then choose the editing command > delete. Click Yes in the dialog box confirm deleting key.
    8. Close the registry editor.
    9. Open the Device Manager:
      • On Windows 2000 and XP: click Start > Control Panel. Double-click the system icon, click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.
      • On Windows Vista: Click Start > Control Panel, double-click System, and then click Device Manager in the task pane.
    10. Click on the symbol more then to CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drives.
    11. For each listed DVD-ROM or CD-ROM drive, select the icon then choose Action > uninstall.
    12. Restart Windows.
    13. Windows will automatically detect and reinstall your CD-ROM or DVD - ROM drives. You can check that the drives are installed in the device (see step 9) Manager. If the drives are not present, open Device Manager and choose Actions > Scan for hardware changes.
    14. Reinstall your Adobe application.
    15. Restart Windows.

Important: If this solution doesn't solve the problem with the application you reinstalled, then you must restore the CD and DVD drivers list in the Windows registry.

To restore the exported CD and DVD drivers list:

    1. Double-click the registry key that you exported.
    2. Close the registry editor.
    3. Restart Windows.

  • Satellite A300 PSAG4A: Webcam not detected in Device Manager

    I have a Toshiba Satellite A300 PSAG4A 02L00M with Vista Home Premium 64-bit.
The webcam is not working and it is not detected in Device Manager.
When I install the Chicony camera drivers, I get the "Webcam driver open fail. Error message.

The fact that I can't see the Webcam in Device Manager tells me that there may be a hardware failure.
However, I hope that this is a setting that I can fix myself.

I had restored the laptop to factory also and I've updated the bios.
I tried to uninstall all the USB controllers and reboot the PC.

Is there something I can do?
    It's maybe a software problem?
    There may be a setting?

Best way to test the operation of the equipment is to check with the factory settings installation operating system with the Toshiba recovery image. As I see that you have done this already.

So if cam still doesn't work properly, I fear that there is a problem with the hardware.
It cannot be matter of software because the recovery image contains the driver for the cam.

  • HP Probook 430 G2: HP Probook 430 G2 - HW Bluetooth not detected on Device Manager

    Hello team HP,

I just bought HP Probook 430 G2 and using the Windows 7 Entriprise 64-bit SP1 operating system.

Why bluetooth HW is not detected in Device Manager, I know that this laptop has built-in bluetooth.

    Please kindly help.

    Thank you

    You are the very welcome.

You are right.  This wireless card has built in bluetooth.

See if this driver installation get the bluetooth to work.

    http://h20564.www2.HP.com/hpsc/SWD/public/detail?swItemId=ob_149791_1

If this is not the case, check the BIOS to see if there is a setting to turn bluetooth on or off.

If this isn't the case, install it and see if it detects the bluetooth radio and turn it on using the software.

Once you turn on the BT, you can either go to the use of the software or uninstall.

    http://h20565.www2.HP.com/hpsc/SWD/public/detail?swItemId=ob_154636_1

If none of the works above, I suggest that you contact HP technical support and submit a case under the guarantee pension, because I think that there is something wrong with the wireless card.

  • T400 no wireless device not detected in Device Manager.

    Hello

I have a problem. I bought a new T400. As for specification - it has WLAN (EAN: nm322us).

    Dealer information:

    Wireless network Yes

    Standards wireless a/g/n

Type of wireless card Intel WiFi Link 5300AGN

But no wireless network card detected (in Device Manager), when the computer starts.  No in the bios for the WLAN mac address. So, where is a problem? A dealer cheated me and there is no WLAN in this computer? Or are there problems with the detection of devices of MS Windows Vista Business? Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

Solved. The problem was that activate WLAN in BIOS was 2 places -strange. Update BIOS maybe after. Before the upgrade - as usual-, I looked in the network section (to activate WLAN). There was no option, besides, to activate the wired network. I don't know if it was in the other section (System i/o ports) before the BIOS update, but in my opinion - in any case, it's strange to Wired and wireless in separate sections network devices. Thank you very much for the help.

    What I have
Xbox 360 Wireless Controller (with the cable that allows you to connect it to the photo that is wired)

    This my problem
I connected the Xbox 360 controller to my pc via the cable, it is detected in Device Manager as 'wireless controller xbox 360 Via play & charge kit.
In respect of game controller does not appear even when you click advance to selected the device it does not always show upward.
I tried to use it TI a game it does not at all.
The rings on the Xbox 360 controller lights when I plug the controller in my pc (even though Device Manager detects a problem with)
When I press the button the controller guide, it just keeps blinking as if it must be syc (but it connect through a wire that shouldn't happen)

I tired using different drivers the same problems, I was installed the drivers off Windows 7 support site exactly the same problem...

I also tried unplugging all the USB devices on my computer and plug the controller Xbox 360 on USB port which are directly mounted on the mother exactly the same problem.

    Up to now NO solution.
Please help me because I think I got tired of everything I can

Unfortunately, this won't work.  The Play and Charge kit connects only up to the actual battery.  Still, the controller connects more wireless.

You would need a wired Xbox 360 controller or Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming receiver that connects to your wireless controller existing.

I jumped on my computer today, to copy a disc in iTunes and found that Windows is for some reason, do not recognize my DVD/CD drive.  Now, the drive is very good; This works.  I put in a disc and it runs.  But that's all.  I go to Device Manager to see what is the problem and I find that the knot of READERS of CD-ROM/DVD-ROM is missing altogether.  -What happened?  If anyone can help (not you, Rob;) I already tried everything in your list of suggestions), please.  I would appreciate.

    DT

    Hi Dtorres,

    • What exactly do you mean by it works when I insert the disk?

If the device is missing in the Device Manager, it may be due to hardware failure or if the drive cables are not connected properly. This can also happen if there is a damage in the drive cable, windows will not be able to detect the drive.

However, you can contact the computer manufacturer to verify if there is any firmware that you can install for the CD / DVD player and if you can run a diagnostic tool for the material.

You can also start the BIOS of your laptop and check if the drive is detected in the BIOS and post back the result.

I hope this helps. Let us know the result.

  • CD ROM drive not in Device Manager

Suddenly, my CD-ROM drive doesn't work after I plugged a flash drive. It does not recognize a disc (tells me to insert a disc after that I already have). The drive is not listed in Device Manager. I followed the instructions of regedit and led nothing to delete the location. I tried the following without success website: http://support.microsoft.com/mats/hardware_device_problems/ The Fix - It ran and gave me: material changes may not be detected - checked. Y at - it sort of screwup driver or is my cd rom bread?

    Hello

If the drive is viable that these can help:

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
    below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD
Burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational so that other parts
    do it right.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are
the entries in registry that the troubleshooter does not solve and those who "might" be the cause.

Check with your Maker system and a device for the two possible firmware updates and

Here are the keys that I of course are those in question - for the subkeys of the CD/DVD drive

    the parameters.

  • dv9500 - No. DVD drive detected

    Hi all:

Last night my HP dv9500 laptop stopped detecting my DVD player.

This drive worked perfectly until yesterday.

In the operative part of eating there isn't even a section to view the DVD/CD ROM drives drivers

I deleted the upper and lower of the reg filters.

I also took the drive from the laptop and inserted object.

    NON OF THE ABOVE HELPED.

The drive has power, but won't read or appear in the control panal.

Another thing to note is next to updates Vista I have installed a new software or hardware.

    Thank you for your time...

    Resolved to myself...

After reading the regedit, remove the upper and lower of information filter file (which, if you have this problem you've read 1000 times now), nothing worked!  I was about to break!

Then I tripped apone certain information that has saved my DVD player.

It seems that sometimes deleting upper and lower filter file is not enough.  I read that uninstall all applications 3rd party such as Nero, Roxie, itunes, etc. must be completed so that it works.  I had all three of the above programs.  After you have uninstalled them, deleting files from upper and lower filters in regedit and restart my system as my DVD player has been detected and returned to its place legitimate in Device Manager.  All is now good, burning a movie that I'm writing this...

Hope this helps someone with this problem.  Believe me I feel your pain.  Two days in a bad mood and talking to myself ha ha.  Good luck to all...

  • Graphics cards GTX - 770M not detected in Device Manager

    Salvation;

My AW-18 does not correctly detect my GTX - 770 M (x 2) cards and display them in the Device Manager. What I see is that in the other devices section, there are two unknown devices listed, one of which I already know (not related). Any GTX cards appear in graphics cards.

Also, when I try to install GeForce experience, I get an error saying that I don't have cards chart for this program. It allows to launch fine until today (December 15, 2014).

This PC has a hard drive erasure and system reinstall in its history. It is possible that this point has been like that for this event.

The Hardware Id info on the elements of the mystery are as follows:

    ACPI\VEN_SMO & DEV_8810
    ACPI\SMO8810
    * SMO8810

    So I guess I have two questions;

    (1) can you tell me what is this mystery device?

    (2) why can I not see my graphics card in Device Manager, despite all the usual activities like the search of new hardware, drivers, etc..

    Thank you

    Graham

Also note that I had already run the troubleshooter from Dell and it detected no problems.

    I found a solution myself.

I looked at the BIOS settings by the F2 key at startup, and the only thing I could see I could try was to restore the default settings, so I did. My PC booted then up normally but for low resolution. Device Manager now showed two graphics cards, so I ran the installer of the latest GeForce drivers and the PC works now perfectly once more.

  • DVD bluray missing in Device Manager

I installed windows 7 pro from CD-Rom. I have barely use cd CD-Rom so I did not notice that all of a sudden my DVD drive has disappeared in the Device Manager. When you insert a disc, it rotates but does not start. BIOS sees the optical drive. BIOS has been also updated. All drivers have been updated. Googeled solutions and delete some keys but that did not work. Also restored the laptop to the previous state, but the disc has not been and cannot be restored later. There is a problem on the HP site but also no results.

Can't believe that the drive is dead, I installed windows from it.

Do not want to reinstall windows, as I have to be perfect.

Any who know this problem and have a solution?

I have a HP 8760W (not "ban" me at the business forum. I bought the laptop not for or on behalf of a company)

    It works. New DVD's ok.

Not happy at first when I received the replacement however. I ordered exactly the same model. When I received the new dvd player, it turns out that the front was different (higher) and a metal strip which is screwed on the disk and is used for mounting the drive in the laptop was different. So the new reader did not. Took do some MacGuyvering to get the new drive to adapt.

But it worked, dvd drive is showing in Device Manager now, so happy .
