dvd burner Inspiron 1300 won't write

Hi can anyone help dvd writer stopped writing Thursday it was fine today kaput it will be

write a CD but not dvd thanks for any help

When you mentioned "so old", something else came to mind.  There are DVD + R and DVD-R discs.  New readers can write on either the + or - type but before about 2003 discs only write to one of these types of discs.  Make sure you use a DVD disc type that corresponds to your DVD drive.

  • CD/dvd burner writes correctly, but displays the error message ' medium not present-tray closed. - 0X023A01'.

    Hello

I have a unique problem where my cd/dvd burner burn my data to a recordable cd (not verified with recordable dvd yet) correctly, but after the burning process I get an error message "(devMediumNotPresent_TrayClosed) closing session error (Session: 4 medium not present-tray closed. - 0X023A01'.)"

I tried roxio and nero, cdburnerxp, but I get this error on the whole. However, the burn is successful. I can open the data burned in my laptop or other computers and use the same drive to burn more data in the other computer. I tired to reduce speed, but it is of no use. I have also reinstalled the drivers but no use at the end I also did a clean uninstall of Roxio-> then installed Nero-> Nero clean uninstall-> then install Cdburnerxp 4.3.2.2140.

Use the same media brand in my desktop LG cd/dvd combo drive, and things are absolutely perfect.

    Hello

I got my ODD back to normal. The simple solution was to clean the lens of the drive. I called a Dell technician. He inspected the car and found that the problem was due to an unclean lens. In fact, I have never cleaned the lens since I bought the laptop in February 2008. I used a lens cleaner with 6 brushes Writex.

I also checked the drive by
    1. create a Live CD: Ubuntu
    2. a burned DVD
3 burn a different brand CD

Above all 3 tasks are normally carried out with any error. The player read / written correctly.

    Good bye.

    Hello

You have disk problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD burning and)
Playback of CD and DVD). So it is not unusual for parts from 1 or 2 to not work so that others do
    correctly.

Burning at low speed, or by using the master could help. A CD/DVD cleaner might help.

Brand of the CD or DVD drive can also be the problem. Low quality (cheap brands) are always problematic.

CD/DVDs have a tolerance + - and your can read/write on the edge outside these discs
tolerances. They may be delivered, but it is generally more economical to replace the disk.

    Hello

I bought a DVD burner - Slimline - PLEXTOR-PX-608AL > to replace the original CARPET * A-> UJDA750 DVD/CDRW. After exchanging the drive, I had a "Select by mistake" - message during start-up and the drive was not recognized by Windows XP. Can you all please give me some advice on

a.) compatible (means without necessary changes as the firmware update or bridging of contacts) 3rd party DVD Burner for these M4 Tablet PC readers

    or (much better)

    (b) talk to me about his experiences with the bridge the relevant contacts (as mentioned in several other messages) to convert to the first drive not compatible a compatible.

Because I like PLEXTOR and I really want to use it in my pretty M4...

    Thanks in advance-

    Andrew +.

    Hello

In my opinion the new CD/DVD drive doesn t work because it s is not compatible due to bad settings master/slave/C-salt.

The point is that these parameters can be changed using a jumper. The firmware controls these parameters and therefore not all CD/DVD players are compatible.

My user's manual contains all compatible with my laptop CD/DVD players.
Maybe you should take a look in you user manual for details on compatible players.

If you don't get any what s information on supported CD/DVD players then contact ASP in your country and guys should be able to tell what drive s are compatible.

    Good bye

  • Not found DVD Maker "DVD burner" message when DVD writer works well with other programs

    Hello

I just created a DVD with AVS Video Converter and burned a DVD with no problems and created later a film with Windown Movie Maker, which worked well, it has exported to Windows DVD Maker, again not a problem, but when I click on burn, I get a not found message "DVD burner". How can I fix, I know the burner works very well because it works with other programs... And Windows DVD Maker was working fine until recently and outside a updated Windows Vista, I did not further updated or changes to the computer.

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi Froggie_UK,

Since this problem you encounter began after that windows update, you can use the System Restore tool to return your computer to an earlier point in time. The tool using System Restore may not necessarily help you determine the problem. When you use system restore to restore the computer to a previous state, the programs and updates that you have installed are removed.

Before you start Please back up your data

To restore the operating system to an earlier point in time, follow these steps:

    ·         Click Start, type System Restore in the search box, and then click System Restore in the list programs. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

    ·         In the System Restore dialog box, click choose a different restore point, and then click on Next.

    ·         In the list of restore points, click a restore point created before you started having the problem, and then click Next.

    ·         Click Finish.

    ·         The computer restarts and system files and settings are back to the State they were in when the restore point was created.

If it is an update, the best way to solve this problem is to apply only updates one at a time to determine which updates is causing this problem.

Click on start-> all programs-> Windows Update, click on change settings in the left menu. Select download updates but let me choose whether to install them, click OK. When you are alerted to install a new update, in this window, click updates see, uncheck all updates and select one at a time, install it, restart your computer, test and update. Once you find the update either continue to ignore it, or look for it at http://support.microsoft.com/.

We hope this resolves the issue and look forward to hearing back from you on your results.

  • Equium M-50-216. CD/DVD burning problems

    Hello.

I recently bought the Equium M50. Now, I can't for the life of burn me to CD / DVD.

Initially, I put this the fact that the service IMAPI CD Burning Com has been disabled. I started and put in place tp start automatically then rebooted the machine.

However, I can not YET write with this drive. It reads and plays CD and DVD very well, but WILL not write.

If I slip and fall explore it tells me that the disk is not accessible, and iTunes launches just the disc from the drive.

I tried several types of CD DVD would be too much...

Now, like many of you guys I HATE when computers try to tell me I can't do something!

Is this a problem that someone met before? I tried to browse the forum but you can't really see too that helps.

    Thank you.

    ADIE

    Hello help

Believe me, I won't tell you that you can't do something, but I really do not understand that you have this kind of problems with the new unit. When you start the machine for the first time that the unit of factory settings and hardware configuration is optimized.

Toshiba recovery image include SONIC record now software that allows you to create CDs and DVDs. You can remove and install the clean burning as NERO software and it works well. I have gift? t know what you do with your unit and why you do experiments with IMAPI-Service.

I just recommend you to check the data of the value. There must be C:\WINDOWS\System32\imapi.exe

If this does not please recover unit with supplied recovery media and enjoy life.

  • "Stop error" suspected to cause driver corrupted for user installed DVD burner.

I get a "BSOD" (blue screen of death) everytime I go out with my Philips DVD burner. Under XP Home on a Dell Dimension 2400. Installed this writer a couple of years ago and have used it without any problems, however started getting this error about 6 months ago. MS produced a report when I rebooted after the last incident - "you received this message because a device installed on your Windows computer driver stop unexpectedly." This type of error is referred to as a "stop error" that requires you to restart your computer. "I followed all the steps described in this report to address the cause of the erroor. However, one of the steps refers to "Uninstalling the driver", but it is a step of manned by menu windows which seems to me that it's not really uninstall the driver - it's just a procedure they wrote such fact, it (start - control panel - display categories - Perf. & Maint - system - hardware - device Mgr - disabling/uninstalling). After you follow these steps, you get a message from re - install the device by clicking on a box. In my view, the same driver is used. It is corrupt nothing has changed and I will continue to get this error. I would like to know where the real driver is located so I can delete it and then go online to download a new driver. However, because my o/s came pre-installed by Dell, MS isn't going to help (unless I pay for the help) and Dell won't help because they didn't install the unit and the Philips site is useless in trying to get technical information as to where their driver is on my hard drive. I checked Event Viewer - System Log and found 'Source = system error category' and the real codes of 4 parameters (addresses memory I think) [that MS would only be able to interpret] for this date and time. I might have to go the route of 'pay' people with MS, but before doing that I would try to fix it myself. Dell site will not download the driver that already exists on my HD and is the latest version. Tools Dell system does not include this unit in its analysis of material either. So - I hope that someone will be quite kind to give me any suggestions where to find this particular driver - I can't find anything that looks like a pilot in the Philips records. Go to your computer manufacturer's support web site and search for Windows 7 drivers for your specific model number. Dell: http://www.Dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/product/Inspiron-1545

If there is no driver, your PC may not work correctly (No. LAN or WiFi, Audio, USB, etc.) after the installation of Windows 7.

  • -DVD burn does not work in the DVD player sometimes

I have a Mac Pro from the beginning of 2008, and it came with a DVD drive (OPTIARC DVD RW AD - 7170A).  I was able to burn DVDs with using toast in the past.

But lately, the half of the DVD burn won't play in my DVD consumer player.  I get a "Disk error" message when I try to play them, and they do not load.  It's a strange problem, because some of them work and some do not.  I can't tell where the problem is.

Is there a way to test the DVD player?  Should I just replace it?

Many brands of blank DVDs gives very inconsistent results when burning. If you use a brand store or generic blanks, that may be the problem.

  • Portege R700 - slow DVD burning

all of a sudden for some reason any CD/DVD burn on my new Portege R700 has almost ground to stop. It worked fine initially, but now won't have high peaks of 1 MB/sec... it is a REAL pain...

The problem occurs with both the DVD player built-in and a USB connected drive that has worked well for years, so there must be a problem with o/s or H/S any. am about to update the BIOS but with no real hope

I did some research on Google and things seem to point to the IDE controller issues. I took some advice and remove / reinstall the controller, but to no avail...

someone else has the same problem - or, more importantly, a solution please?

    in some desparation

    Tim
