  • After the update of DVD driver from Dell, my PC does not recognize the drive at all the

Hi, I've updated my DVD burner on the Dell Web site (he said it was important), but since then, my computer does not recognize my dvd player at all. I click on "drivers" and the system finds it online. A halfway through the installation, I get an error code, and it says "Roxio pxhelp is missing" I don't have any Roxio software on my computer! Need help with getting my dvd drive working properly! Thanks in advance =)

  • I bought a laptop mini dell who doesn't have a cd/dvd drive and would like to get my photos from my camera on it.

    Computer: Dell Inspiron mini 910

Camera: Vivitar ViviCam X 024 digital camera

Program: Vivitar experience Image Manager software

I've tried connecting the camera to the computer, downloading the software directly from vivitar.com (invalid email supposedly), control panel addition and the removal of the cameras (not on the list of cameras), ect... I am now at a loss what to try next so if someone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

The camera uses media that can be deleted?  If so, download a USB drive for this type of media nd it allows to read the media when you remove it from the camera.

Regarding the "no CD/DVD drive" - If you really think you want - buy one - USB external.

If you have a ViviCam X 024 and looking at technical specifications and web Vivitar support page you can see the Manual of the camera that shows what you can / should use a SD memory card.  With a decent USB drive for the type of card, you should be able to remove it and read it as any external USB drive.

Well, to tell you the truth, however, the manual (page 48) makes it sound like the camera is - somehow - just a SD card reader.

Transfer media from my camera to my computer manually (using Windows)

    1. use the USB cable that came with your camera to connect your device to your computer.
    2. a window appears with a list of options, select open folder to view files, and click OK.
    3. open the DCIM folder and the folder to view multimedia files.
    4. Select support and copy the files in this folder to your computer. Optionally, select the files and choose copy from the Edit menu. Select a folder, then choose Paste from the Edit menu.
    5. We recommend that you copy the images in the photos / folder my pictures and videos in the videos / folder my videos.
    6. do not disconnect the cable during transfer. This will cancel the file transfer on their way to your computer.

You are keen on the CD/DVD drive for installation of some software?  You could make the CD in ISO image and install a program that would go the ISO image on your mini.  Or better yet, ise some external USB device connected to another computer to copy the contents of the CD to a folder on the said device and then transfer it to the mini.

    Hello

You have disk problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD burning and)
Playback of CD and DVD). So it is not unusual for parts from 1 or 2 to not work so that others do

  • CD/DVD drive on Dell Latitude D510

My laptop was hit with an overload of spyware, and he has been allowed only recently, although there may be some remaining traces. Now my computer does not recognize my CD/DVD drive - he knows that this is where, it seems, but by the icon, there is a little "!" This means of course that 'it does not work." When I tried to play a game, the program said that it was unable to find a CD drive on the computer.

I bought a new CD player, thinking that the problem could be solved, but I get the same error, so I think the problem is with the computer. The operating system is Windows XP, we had to reinstall (so now I have two users of computers - my old name and a new ID). Does anyone have an idea on how to fix this?

  • Is it possible to boot from usb on Qosmio G20 dvd-drive

I have a QOSMIO G20. I would like to boot from the dvd-drive usb, but in the bios, I can use only floppy drive external:(est_il possible de débloquer le bios ou peut-être mettre à niveau que j'ai peut démarrer à partir dele de dvd externe?)

    N ° it s is not possible;

You can start only form HDD, ODD, UDB FDD (floppy), LAN

  • Satellite Pro A120 - cannot boot from CD/DVD drive

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro A120 of friends, he was running very slow so I said I'd do the usual for him.
Back up all his documents, and then reinstall windows. not so easy!

First of all, try to boot from the CD so I can boot into Ubuntu or reinstall windows.
Me has taken long enough to work, I had to press DEL/ESC to enter in the BIOS, but once I put to boot from the CD (and was a bootable CD in the drive), it kept just boot from the HARD drive.

From time to time I get an error saying + "Media test failure - check cable" + or something similar, theres a lot on internet on this subject.
I think its something to do if the boot order has CD first, then it has LAN as 2nd.

Able to boot Ubuntu from a USB key.
Try to copy its documents on my external drive but really copying REALLY slow (like 1 MB/s) and kept getting IO errors on some files.
I can't run diagnostic software for HARD drive that I can not boot from the CD (could get the Ultimate Boot CD on a USB but if anyone thinks it would help?).

In windows, the CD player only reads real CD (audio similar DVD, not CDR and DVDR).
    This means a failing drive?
What intrigues me most, however, is that I changed the portable CD player with a CD of work of another computer and windows recognize today this new CD player at all!

By putting a bootable CD in this new CD player, it always starts from the HARD drive (do not recognize CD player in all).
The BIOS is a bit unnecessary and does not show the detected disks...

Also, boot Ubuntu from a USB key, with the original CD player, he reads real CD and DVD copied of all zeros are considered blank discs and replace the CD drive with a known working in Ubuntu means its not recognized at all (if this isn't windows driver problems).

When I started messing around with it I remember windows say the time had been reset, so I set the time properly, then he did the same thing again I think. A flat CMOS battery could not be responsible for this?

Is the motherboard and specifically the IDE controller or a broken ports, or am I doing something stupid? I'm tempted to just install Ubuntu by USB and tell him not to bother with CD more ;^)

Any suggestions or comments would be much appreciated!

    Thank you
    Dan Gent

    > Me has taken long enough to work, I had to press DEL/ESC to enter in the BIOS, but once I put to boot from the CD (and was a bootable CD in the drive), it kept just boot from the HARD drive.
You see the CD/DVD drive in BIOS? I mean all the details like the name WEIRD etc.
If this isn't the case, then it means that your CD/DVD drive is not recognized by the BIOS due to a hardware problem.

If you can see the STRANGE in the BIOS but are still not able to boot from any disk, then I suppose that the CD/DVD drive cannot read the disk for different reasons.
One of the reasons could be a defective or damage the laser lens

    > Every so often, I would get an error saying "Media test failure - check cable" or something similar, theres a lot on internet on this subject. I think its something to do if the boot order has CD first, then it has LAN as 2nd.

Yes, this error means that your laptop tried to boot from LAN

    > In windows, the CD player only reads real CD (audio similar DVD, not CDR and DVDR). This means a failing drive?

As I said above, it would be possible that the reader s laser lens malfunctions and, therefore, the ODD can't handle the media. It seems that the laser lens can not calibrate properly and can not move in the correct position. This question is not repairable and the drive needs to be replaced.

    > What intrigues me most, however, is that I changed the CD drive with a CD of work of another laptop and windows don't recognize this new CD player at all!

The fact is that not all CD/DVD drives are compatible due to different master/slave/C-salt settings. You must use the supported players! In most cases, you can find a list in your user manual what CD/DVD readers are compatible.
