  When I close the lid of the machine goes into mode 'sleep'. When I open it back it does not. This happened 2 days ago, and before that everything worked very well. I can hear the fans/hdd from when I open the cover, but the statys display dark and the power button flashes. No matter what I press it does not appear from the mode "Eve". I have to press and hold the power button to force the reboot the machine lose all my currently open applications and documents. Any suggestions on what could be the problem and a fix?

  Thanks for your reply. I solved the problem, but I'm not exactly sure how. I think that it started after I used it on battery until what drain you completely. It was working fine before that. I have lots of update on the system since the Lenovo Update Manager, shut down the computer, took battery and AC and pressed the power button. All assembled again and booted up normally. Now everything works. I can close the lid causing the laptop to go to sleep and he took over when I open it. No more problems at startup.

  I have a Toshiba Satellite l300d with an OS Vista Home premium. It worked fine for 3 years, but last week, I can't find the cd drive in 'my computer' and am unable to read DVDs, games, etc.

  The Toshiba MK1652GSK ATA device appears in Device Manager and I've updated the driver as well as to try to uninstall and reinstall. However, in disk management that only the c drive and e drive (data) are listed with another disk without a name I can't access, when I right click above just said 'help '.
  I tried to delete upper and lower filters with regedit and similar solutions with registry entries. Mr Fixit shows that the problem is that the driver is not detected, but does not bring a solution.
  I have idea about what to do next really, any help?

  3. you get any error message?

  I suggest you to assign the drive letter for the drive using CommandLink and check if it helps:

  I have this laptop for only 1 week, he did various updates. I guess that's from Windows 8 to 8.1. He also completed an update of the BIOS with HP Support Assistant.

  Question: When the awakening of my laptop mode 'sleep', my trackpad and keyboard do not work, I have unlock my PC using HP Simple pass, then press the power button to restart the machine.

  Troubleshooting: I followed some advice for troubleshooting on the support page which lead me to uninstall the keyboard driver then restart my machine. I have all the latest drivers aswell.

  Someone has an idea what might be causing the problem? Ideally, I'd like to do a restore or upgrade of Windows 10 immediately.

  Looks like this has been caused some my driver problem with Windows 8.1 and I guess that's with HP SimplePass such that it would not recognize the keyboard and the trackpad after waking up to use it.

  I have upgraded to Windows 10 that looks like a solved the problem.

  I have a strange problem today. The 2 USB inputs on the right side of the laptop (idk who is 2.0 or 3.0) does not work with the reason I can not perceive.   In this case, it could be really a hardware problem
  But before talking about hardware problems, I recommend to recover the laptop using Toshiba recovery.

  Defining the notebook back to factory settings will help you identify the problem: If the USB ports wouldn't work, this s hardware problem.

  My Logitech bluetooth mouse Mouse loses communication after coming out of sleep mode.  The mouse does not appear in the devices Panel and will not resync.  To retrieve it, I have to restart, and then remove the bluetooth devices control panel mouse and then add the device again.

  For the mouse in the right mouse click Device Manager, select properties then power management and disable the setting allow turns off to save power.

  For other devices, check the equivalent power management settings.

  Try this:
  (a) press the Windows key + X, select Device Manager.
  (b) right click on network adapters.
  (c) click on properties and select the power management tab.
  (d) uncheck the box allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.

  Finally restart the system

  A little late on the answer, but he had nothing to do with food. I was able to solve the problem by turning off the computer, unplug and burst the battery from the motherboard, let it rest a bit, then put it back together and bam, I'm back in business. I think it's a problem between the motherboard BIOS and Hibernate commands put off by * Vista and the only way to stop the loop is the above afformentioned. Everyone always wants to blame the food for these issues... Now PS can cause really strange but common problems...

  If your hardware is not detected to upgrade to Windows 7 is not a resolution. This issue may be caused if the DVD drive is faulty or connections loose on the mother board. You may need to check the connections. I suggest you check if the DVD drive works on another computer. You can contact the manufacturer of your computer to help you with this problem.

  I'm having serious problems here. My CD/DVD-ROM drive is not detected and will not answer. I can ONLY open the drawer at the beginning of my computer laptop startup.   I upgraded my Macbook Air Sierra this morning. Since then, whenever I plug in my external Seagate HDD, it is not detected in the Finder, or see a shortcut on the desktop. However, it is visible in disk utility.
