DVD +/-Rw toshiba SD-R6372 non_bootable
My dvd - rom (toshiba SD-R6372 dvd +/-Rw) is not recognized by the bios (I own a Mitac 8170 A laptop); any cd/dvd startup disc is useless. Only Windows xp use this unit. I think that the dvd drive is slave atapi Assembly. Any solution for this?
the best way to get detailed information on your laptop and installed equipment, is to contact the manufacturer directly.
You may need to attend something special in the bios settings for example.
I bought a Toshiba RDX47KTB VCR/DVD recorder drive.
On page 34 of the manual under 'Media Types', it tells me that I am able to "Edit recorded content" on a DVD + RW disc.
Can someone explain how I can remove ads from a movie recorded please.
Unfortunately, it is a Toshiba laptop computer and a laptop computer forum options.
I doubt that anyone would be able to help you here in the forum
However, I hope you get some help
I have a problem with my Satellite P200-1: can not read HD DVD. There is a message that says that the video may not be in an external device.
The problem is the same if I try on the screen of the laptop or on the TV (Sony Bravia Full HD) with HDMI. I have the latest driver and software for vista sp1 installed...
Some have an idea?
Sorry to talk so badly...

I think I know what's wrong;
Check this Toshiba TB document;
[HD DVD title does not play ("unable to output the video to an external device"): http://askiris.toshiba.com/ToshibaSupportSite/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=1664 788xml & sliceId = & dialogid = 41741513 & stateId = 0% 200% 20 41739828]
To resolve this problem, you will need to update the Audio driver Realtek for Windows Vista.
I'm having some problems with my Toshiba Satellite M40, and I decided to reinstall the OS with the recovery of the dvd disk, but the disk does not start.
When I'm on windows, the cd/dvd driver works perfectly, and I don't think that the recovery of the dvd disk are damaged.
I have already tried:
1. by pressing the "C" key to start the computer
2 - press "F12".
3 - Enter the BIOS Setup and select cd-rom to start first
But the computer starts up normally and no error message appears
Can someone help me? I don't know what to do
Can you please test it with some other bootable CD or DVD? It will be interesting to know if this happens with the recovery media only or even with other bootable media.

I think I can help and I found a solution.
I recalled to this topic and searched a bit here in the forum and found this thread:
Jack Black has posted a link to the document from Toshiba which describes exactly this problem and offers a solution.
The problem can be solved by updating the Realtek Audio driver.
You can download the driver from his most recent on the Realtek site and may reinstall it.
If I try to play a normal DVD (not a HD-DVD) with the Toshiba HD-DVD player software, I get the message next to the HD-DVD player:
"This player has no DVD Playbackfunction. Please try an appropriate for the DVD playback application.

Laptop is a Qosmio G30 - E10, with Vista Ultimate (factory standard).
Thanks in advance.
Did you ever ask yourself why Toshiba install two players on this laptop HD-DVD? Probably not.
With short words: HD-DVD player is designed for playback of HD-DVD only movies. To watch regular DVD movies with a DVD player. For this application use WinDVD player.
Goodbye and enjoy your great laptop Qosmio.

My DVD player portable Toshiba Satellite M300 no longer recognizes discs. When a disc is inserted, the player turns on but does not recognize that a disk has been inserted. I have read that it is a problem with the installation of the Vista SP2 but unable to find a solution. Can anyone help?
It is unlikely to be caused by the software (Windows), but is much more likely to be an optical drive down (hardware). Try to start with a bootable CD/DVD, your installation of Vista/recovery DVD for example (do not run recovery!) or a Linux Live CD. If the reader does not recognize the drive outside of Windows you will know for sure that the material is bad. Contact Toshiba technical support for replacement in this case. My DVD Drive Does not read the DVD + R and therefore does not write on them. I wonder if there is no frameware or something, or maybe my drive supports DVD + R. It supports DVD-R only.
Hi Hossam Aldin,
Sorry, I have to tell you that your DVD burner only supports the following features
CD-ROM, CD - R 24xMax
CD - RW 12xMax
DVD - R, DVD - RW 8xMax
CD - R 16xMax
CD - RW 4xMax
DVD - RW 1xMax
If you could see there is no /AR DVD + R support to read and write!
I prefer records of builders on the recovery discs I already did.
You can get only the Toshiba recovery disks but you must pay for it. Can order a new one here:
You will not get the Microsoft of Toshiba installation diskettes.
(Sorry, but I'm not very good in English)
I have a TOSHIBA SD - R6372 DVDRAM in my laptop, but windows (XP) recognizes him as a CARPET * has DVD-RAM UJ830S. So I can't write DVD-R and DVD + RW. And when I wan't updtae firmware with SDR6372 - 1732.exe there returns the following error: "the target drive is not found.
I guess is a driver's fault, but I can't find the driver anywhere.
Please help me.
As far as I know, there is no special driver for any player and it will be used standard Microsoft driver. Player must be installed only for DVD-RAM DVD tool. Understand your problem a bit better it will be useful to know what model of laptop you have.

I have a Toshiba DVD - ROM SD-R6112 with firmware 1515
It is not a big problem, but if it can be solved, that would be great!
I use windows XP PRO I also tried a system restore but I stil have the same problem with the DVD - ROM Toshiba SD - R6112
In my opinion, the only thing you can try is to clean the lens. This has happened with any DVD or CD?
Please help as its now beyond me. The DVD player has suddenly just stopped. I can hear it and control it but can't see it. I checked the button display but its all ok.
Sorry, but your applicant is very confusing
I have no idea what you changed in the settings of the DVD from Toshiba player in the past, but I think the simplest solution would be the new installation of a utility DVD Toshiba drive.
Usually you can download page of the Toshiba UE driver Toshiba DVD player
Before installing this software, I recommend to uninstall the installed Toshiba DVD player.
Reboot the laptop.
Download the tool on the Toshiba site and start the installation.
Finally, restart the laptop and test functionality.
