  I have an IdeaPad p580 and I noticed that a few basic functionality of windows are not available. I use Windows 7 Home premium SP1 and everything else is usually straight out of the box. I guess these are the basic features of windows because I learn about them in an intro to the class of Windows operating system.

  When I try to use secpol.msc in the start menu, windows cannot find it, and also when I try to encrypt a file or a file this option is grayed out. I think Veriface is the encrypt function creep, or another software that is preinstalled is to play with things.

  So, I built a computer in 2012. This worked well at the time, but I have recently moved house and have had the computer implementation in the study for a while and only put in place the other day. I started and activated windows, I installed DirectX 11 and updated all my drivers. But when I run dxdiag it says that acceleration DirectDraw, Direct3D acceleration and AGP Texture acceleration are not available. I have a Standard VGA graphics adapter and a card Intel(r) HD Graphics 4000 charged, both drivers are fully updated and the VGA is the main driver.

  So I was wondering if there is anyway to solve this problem.

  I solved the problem, that it turns out that I had some drivers AMD requiring an update, now my computer works fine and all the features of DirectX work.

  Thank you James. This procedure has helped and I can see the option to backup again to 8/7 of window control center. What I did wrong in the first place was canceled the backup on an external disk, formatted the disc one plugged a new drive. Then, I was not able to click on the link "Backup." Its now fixed.   You'll probably notice that the problem reappears when you connect a USB drive in the PC. Subsequent removal of this drive will cause the PC to crash. To resolve this problem, the simplest method is to "clean" the disc. A cleaning will destroy all data on the disk, so backup first.

  1. Open diskpart.exe
  2. Type "list disk" to determine the number of disk to the USB drive.
  3. Type "select disk #", where # is the number of disk you determined.
  4. Type "own."
  5. Type "exit".

  Restart your PC. You can use diskmgmt.msc and diskpart.exe to repartition your drive USB to use it normally.

  I suggest you to check if the "Windows Management Instrumentation" service is running as set as Automatic.

  Please follow these steps:

  a. press Windows + R key, type services.msc in the immediate window and press ENTER.
  b. right click on "Windows Management Instrumentation" and click Properties.
  c. make sure that the service status is running and Startup type is automatic.
  d. If not, select the Startup type to Automatic and click on 'Start'.
  e. click apply and ok.
