Dynamic database of PDF/Word documents

I need to create a simple Priory Church documents database archives to be stored on a local computer, so security is not a prime consideration. First, the documents are not confidential and secondly, there is limited access to the computer, but they are not intended for the public domain. More great constraint is my skill level! On a scale of 1 to 10 I may be 2 or 3 at best. I can handle basic dynamic sites.

My plan is to use a local web site - either one on the local PC.

I would scan all the documents, although I am able to get my hands on the original documents of the word.

Front-end of the web site would have a simple menu - view, add and remove

View would lead to a second index page - which would be divided into sections, Minutes, reports, events, whatever. Each section would lead to a third clue where all documents would belong, each of which is a link to the PDF or Word (?) document.

Indexing is perhaps a bit laborious, but it should make it easy to continue to add documents.

What is a reasonable way to deal with? Is there a better way?

There are several ways to reach your goal, namely

  • a database where document titles, description, and the location of the files are stored.
  • a folder structure where the documents are kept and a side server script that lists the documents in the relevant directories.

I would use the first method, because it is easier to maintain. However, the second method should not be overlooked for a solution if a database is not used.

Of course, it's an option as well. You can attach files to the main PDF file, or you can merge all files into a single PDF portfolio.

  • Create PDFs from MS Word documents with DWG files embedded

Using Adobe Acrobat Pro XI, I regularly create PDF documents from MS Word documents with AutoCAD DWG files embedded.  If I print to PDF it is well with integrated designs but if I use the plugin Acrobat text in the drawings would then become too light to see in the created PDF file.  I need to be able to convert to PDF format rather than print them in PDF format in order to have the bookmarks and links created automatically.  What parameters control the darkness of drawings ACAD contained in MS Word files when they are converted to PDF files?

Here are some screenshots from the built-in drawings prints/changed:

    Printed to PDF.JPG

    Convert:

    Converted to PDF.JPG

This problem was caused by the use of dynamic blocks with several line colors and thicknesses in the original DWG files.  They were used to allow the quick creation of drawings in AutoCAD for several different components that share similar attributes.  Unfortunately when these drawings are incorporated in MS Word or PDF files is created directly from these drawings, items in the drawing would randomly disappear when a PDF file created from them.  The solution is to open each offending in AutoCAD DWG file, move everything to layer zero and set the thickness of the text elements.

  • Send the word document as a pdf

I have a word document that I need to send a pdf document: How can I do this

I use a PDF Converter driver found on the internet. Install it and it becomes a selectable converter option. Then you can convert PDF files to many forms in any program at all, including Adobe Acrobat. Just to open a PDF file, select convert and one shape you want, then you can make the pdf in word, conversion, and vice versa, the task will be finished in a few seconds. If you have not found a good choice, you can have a try. Best wishes.

    This is Microsofts official response...

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/word-help/convert-documents-between-pdf-and-word-HA001168333.aspx - this applies to office 2007 and office 2010 so

To sum up... it is not possible to convert unless you install another piece of software (which can be purchased in MS market place)

However, there are many alternative solutions (those that are free) avalible online this is a case of taste until you find one, you want to bring them all with different characteristics

  • HP deskjet 1015: My Hp deskjet 1015 prints word documents, but not of PDF files

Hi @AmalTalaat and welcome to the Forums of HP!

I see you are having problems printing of PDF files.  I would like to help!

I suggest you perform a power reset.  Unplug the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug back in the printer. Make sure that you connect the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any surge protector or power bar.

I recommend also to download and run the HP print and Scan doctor.

Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting operations. Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!

How to convert this file in word doc format, can anyone help please, step by step because I'm not an expert in this area...

    Concerning

Adobe Acrobat (not Reader) will save PDFs in word files. It will cost however.

If you type convert pdf in word in Google you will find a lot of small applications that will do this for you - some are free.

  • PDF to word - pdf now converts to a Word document for editing of pop up

    Original title: pdf in word

Hello! I just converted a Word document to a PDF using Novapdf. However, when I try to open the original pdf a pop-up shows saying that my pdf now converted a Word document to change. I don't want to convert my doc' for editing, because I already edited in Word. More than that, I noticed when a pdf file is converted to an editable Word doc ' doc of all ' will distort puff, it's in every way. I want to just OPEN THE DOC ORIGINAL"WITHOUT GETTING THE pop-up.

    Thank you!!!

    Consider uninstalling Novapdf.

  • Why does my PDF files appear as word documents?

My PDF files are displayed as icons in word document and I don't know why. I can still open them as a PDF file just right click and then go to 'Open with' but I prefer them rather to open as a PDF immediately.

I did some research and most popular answers seems to be to change the association of file by the following steps:
    1. Click Startand then click Control Panel.
    2. Click on Folder Options.
    3. Click the File Types tab in the Folder Options window and complete file types and their association is listed.
    4. Click new and type the file Extension in the box and then click Advanced.
    5. Choose a file type association.
    6. Click OK and then click close.
    7. Open the file again.
But when I go in the "Folder Options" I can't find the 'File Types' tab anywhere! The only options are "General", "view"and"search".
If someone could help me with this problem that would be much appreciated.

The File Types tab exists in Windows XP and earlier and removed from Windows Vista.

You can use the option 'Open with' to change program file associations as Entegy said in addition, you can find this useful link.
  • Conversion and print a PDF file which is exactly the same as the Word document.

When I convert a Word 2007 document as a PDF and then print both, the PDF has a much larger margin and declined on each page of the document. How to make PDF file printed with the same margins and the size of the font as the Word document?

I used (free) cutepdf and Nitro PDF Pro in both Office 2007 and Office 2010 and you haven't noticed the problem you mention, but I didn't have the need to compare the results of Word with the pdf regarding my purposes the output pdf has been fine.

  • When you save a Word document to PDF format, how can I do NOT to incorporate fonts (essentially save as image only)?

When I 'print' a Word document to PDF fonts are included.  I guess that in doing so, it is then possible to make the file editable.  If I take a picture of my document and save it as a PDF, then obviously, the fonts are not included.  I want to have one PDF file like the other, but the document is hundreds of pages long I don't really want to take a picture of each page.  Y at - he made another way saved PDF and take the embed fonts?

    Thank you!

If you don't have Acrobat, but the free player. You can't do it with this application.

  • Icons PDF into a word document

    Hello

We insert the PDFs to our Word documents as icons.  However, when downloading the document to eSign, the ability to open this icon to see the full PDF is lost.  Is this something we can work around?

    Beth

    Hi bethl64501093 ,

I wish to inform you that once the document is downloaded in Adobe sign, it is treated as image file. The Word file gets flattened like image and I fear that there is no solution available for this workaround.

    Thank you
