OfficeJet 6500 a Plus: impossible to activate the Web services; roadblocks at all stages

This printer is connected to my network by Ethernet. I want to activate Web services, so I can use ePrint.

When I try to enable Web services from the printer control panel, I said that I might need to enter a proxy address. I'm not running a proxy server, but it is not possible around this prompt.

There are posts on this Board indicating that Web services can be activated with a Wi - Fi connection. I unplugged the Ethernet cable and wireless enabled, but I was always invited address proxy information when I tried to activate the Web services. I disabled wireless and returned to Ethernet.

A response to another post suggested updating the firmware to bypass the proxy server error. HP recommendation is to do it from the control panel of the printer. In the Panel menu control, firmware upgrade is the title of the Web services, which I can't because of the mistake of the proxy. So I downloaded the firmware and tried to install the update from my computer. The update found my printer on the network, but it is gray, saying 'Not applicable', under the State. I couldn't select it.

In another post, someone suggested THAT DNS has been configured. I saw, through Server Web shipped by the printer, there is no configured DNS server (the printer is configured for manual IPv4). So via the integrated Web server, I tried to enter addresses (my domain controller, OpenDNS, Google) DNS server. With each of them, the SAP replied: "an error has occurred. (ipv4Page-400). Click 'OK' to go back. "There is no place to enter the DNS settings on the printer control panel.

Web services require a Wi - Fi connection?

Why the printer think there need a proxy address?

The firmware update will solve the proxy error?

I have to update the firmware, if the update statement indicates does not apply?

What is another method for updating the firmware out of the control panel or from my computer?

How to enter the DNS of the EWS information without getting an error?

Charles:

Thank you for taking the time to provide a complete response to my questions.

I finally got the Web services enabled on the printer. What I had to do was enter the DNS settings in SAP to bypass the prompt for proxy information. Step I missed yesterday, when I got page not found error in the SAP, was that I had to do the secure version of the SAP ("https", not "http"), and then the EWS would accept my DNS entries. Once this is done, I went to the printer and could enable Web services without having to provide proxy information.

The printer is now registered to hpconnect.com, and I can start letting my library to print patterns on my wireless network, that was my goal all along.

Thanks again for your help.

    (3) turn off the printer and unplug the power cable to the rear. Wait 5 min

    (4) plug the power cable and turn on the printer

    (5) run the Wireless Setup Wizard in the printer menu.

    (6) check if you are able to print and scan

    (7) ' delete Web Services"from the menu of the printer and wait for 2 minutes

    (8) "activate Web Services" in the menu and waiting.

This should display a page automatically.

    Hello

Download and install the latest firmware for your printer, it is essential to maintain a Web Services connection:

It can be installed from any Windows on the following link:

Any help would be appriated on this: I tried Google trawling without result!

I'm trying to enable Web services on my printer to use apps, ePrint Airprint, e.t.c. When I press the setup of Web Services, I agree to the terms and instantly taking me to a product update checking. The display shows then 'no product updates available for this printer' with only 'OK' button to press, when I do I picked the terms and conditions. I am stuck in a permanent loop! All other services (printing, scanning) work very well and the printer is certainly connected to the internet.

    I tried:

    -Restore default settings

-Turn off the router and the printer.

-Modification of the DNS settings for the printer.

Any other suggestions - I'm getting really frustrated now so would appreciate any ideas!

    Hello

First of all, thanks for all the help when trying to get Web services facing up and running, it is appreciated. I tried partial reset without success, then decided to have another look at the firmware.

It turns out that I had an older version of the firmware, but I couldn't access the Web services to upgrade, and when I tried to do it via the USB port, he told me that the new firmware will not apply. After a little searching around, I found this thread:

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/printer-all-in-one-install-Setup/can-t-upgrade-firmware-OfficeJet-6500a-plus/TD-p/874523/page/4

After a bit of change the .ini settings, I managed to upgrade and, after a week of trying, finally managed to activate Web services! I can now access all the applications and use AirPrint, which is what I had originally set out to do!

There is a big problem with the firmware of this particular printer as a lot of people have commented on the difficulty and had to basically 'hack' the firmware update to make it work. It is pretty poor on behalf of HP, as of course has been a recurring problem for some time. However, your help has been fantastic and despite considering myself to be pretty computer, I am kicking some of the stupid mistakes I did!

In any case, Bravo to you and thank you for your help!

  • OfficeJet 7310 all-in-One: activate the Web Services and printing of Tablet

I can't find a way to enable Web Services on my 7310 all-in-One.  It is connected by wire to my internet router, and I use the built-in print server.  ePrint online information, says this printer is supported.  When I go into the ePrintCenter registration page, or when I go into the app on my Android tablet, it won't give me an option to manually enter the printer and can't find the printer on my home network.  All this suggests that I should update the firmware of the print server, but I can't find a way to do it.  Any help would be welcome.

Ok. I found my own solution, but the documentation is really bad.

The answer is: If you select document, it gives you the choice of the printer on the wireless network, even when not compatible eprint. But who knows? I would have thought to implement a printer first.

  • I can't activate the web services, printer asking proxy address, ISP says no proxy

I want to print from the ipad, iphone etc. with wireless turned on and connected. Try to activate the printer asking proxy that my ISP says that there is no proxy, web services, help with what I can do. I bought it only so that I can print from my ipad, the retailer does not know how to put in place, help please if you can

There is another option to put in a custom DNS server. The integrated Web server for this model may be slightly different, but the following steps apply for all HP printers.

What you want to do is to collect the IP address of the printer, you can do this by pressing the icon on the screen wireless and you will have to go to display settings after. Take this ip address and put it in the address bar of your web browser as a Web page. From there, go to the tab network along the top of this page, then you should have an option of ipv4 on the left side under wireless (or wired) If you are using ethernet. Here, you can set a manual IP address and a DNS Server Manual. Configure the DNS server to manual and put as a main 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 as secondary.

These measures will have the printer through the servers DNS googles, which does not seem to solve this problem, most of the time. The main cause is that your ISP DNS servers may not have servers of web services in their system, so when it goes to connect it times out and gives you the message from proxy.

If you have not done for awhile, you may download and install a new copy of the software full functionality.  Reference: install the full features software - printer

If the printer is located where you can do so, you could try a wired connection to the router.

You could try the printer of the assign a static IP address.

Make sure that there is at least 1 meter / 3 feet between the printer and all wireless devices you want to connect.  Too much is as bad as too far away...

Paw through all ideas / suggestions / information in the exceptional User Guide of this printer - network setup Section starting on Page 222.

Try to use as not only a static IP address, but also a hard to connect to your ISP DNS information.

  • HP printer Officejet 6500 a Plus

I bought a new printer and want to get rid of my old printer (HP Officejet 6500 a Plus).  My question is: is there any reader of memory in the printer I'm tossing or is it just just to throw it away?

    Hello

Thank you for using the HP forum.

You can restore the default printer.

Theres no hard drive on the PC but if you don't save any number of fax on this subject, you may want to delete that.

Usually, we cut the strip of coding, break the glass of the scanner and cut other visible wires before disposing of it so that the printer is "beyond economic repair" for anyone who can pick it up.

    Hope that helps.
