My computer have Windows reloaded and now I can't access my e-mail stored previously in Windows Mail. How can I get back them?

You can try to search for *.eml, but if the disk has been formatted first, they will not be there.  The files are also hidden, so make sure that you enable the display of hidden files and folders under control panel | Folder options | View.  You can also check with those who 'reloaded' of Windows to see if they have backed up your data first.

  • my files are no longer displayed. How can I display them so I can access mail stored in them?

I have been using Thunderbird as e-mail longer than 10 years. Just a month or two ago, my files appear lower on the side of the program. I save and mail saved in these files but have no way to access that saved mail. I can see the folder using Windows Explorer but cannot see the mail saved in these folders. Is there a way to view folders again?

Is the part where they live always there? Here, it's empty.

Or is the went completely too? In this case, in the menu, view | Page layout | The folders pane must be verified. If it is already checked, uncheck it and check again.

No menu? Press and hold the < alt > key on your keyboard.

  • E-mail accounts changed in IMAP on El capitan

Hi, I have an old Macbook (2009), and recently I upgraded the operating system of Cougar to El Capitan. Most of the things are works well but Mail causes me problems. I read many others Mail doubts in El Capitan, but my problem seems to be different.

I have several accounts of my ISP more than one Gmail account, accessible from Mail. The Gmail account is still OK, but none of my ISP accounts will now receive mail, if all will always send. I think that's what happened (even though it sounds crazy).

Mail seems to have created new IMAP accounts, corresponding to the old POP accounts and transferred all the e-mails stored in these new accounts. But as my ISP uses a POP server, these accounts cannot receive if they can still send. Former POP accounts are still there, empty and inactivated (so I have two of each account, one IMAP, POP). When I've reactivated a that I was able to send and receive from it, provided that incoming mail was responding to an e-mail sent from this POP account. But otherwise, when I just send an email to this address, it is not received, probably because it goes to the new IMAP account.

Thus, the upgrade of the El Capitan has really drunk much upwards and I don't know why, and I don't know how to fix it. I don't know how to change IMAP accounts toward POP, but I fear that if I close the IMAP accounts I can lose all emails in the reception and sent items box and still not be able to receive emails in pop account.

Can someone help me understand what's happening please, and how can I get Mail back to how it was before? Thank you.

Are you sure that your ISP does not offer IMAP service. El Capitan is trying to determine what the most appropriate service and configures Mail accordingly. He "asks" the ISP what to configure. It can offer IMAP, but your accounts are set up for the pop.

If she didn't really need IMAP, you can then change back to pop. With IMAP, messages remain on the server, so all you have in your Inbox would remain on the server. However, to be sure, create a new mailbox store in the section on my Mac. Move all messages to these mailboxes before removing IMAP accounts.

When you have reconfigured everything, you can move messages in the mailboxes, you have created and put them in their appropriate accounts pop folders

  • How can I save only mail sent on the server and do not have thunderbird download everytime I open the program?

IMAP and everytime I open Thunderbird is so slow because it's downloading my mail sent to server. I want that my sent mail stored on the server and no hard disk.

you have your mail on your computer or you do not. I guess that you I don't camp.

Right-click on the account in the folders pane, select settings.
Synchronization and storage deselect messages to store for this account on this computer.

  • I want to use Thunderbird without saving e-mails on PC. How is that possible?

I want to use Thunderbird without saving any email to a local folder in my PC.
Can you help me please on this?
    Thank you.

There are two types - POP and IMAP
You will need to login to your webmail account using a browser and select the option to use the IMAP forwarding Protocol - assuming that the option is available.

E-mail POP accounts can only access the server Inbox.
Emails are downloaded to your computer and stored in your Thunderbird profiles folder. So this guy can't according to your needs.

IMAP e-mail accounts provide a remote view of files and emails stored on the server.

You subscribe to view these folders. Then the headers are downloaded and when you opt for the display of an email, the email is downloaded in a temporary cache.

Subscribed folders that are synchronized, download a copy of the file and store it in your Thunderbird profile. But these files are constantly updated to reflect what is stored on the server.

Your best option would be to create an IMAP e-mail account, you sign up to see the folders on the server, but do not select to synchronize subscribed folders.

E-mails stored in your Thunderbird profile on your computer load faster than those that must be retrieved from the server each time.

Info on the synchronization, so you can see how to turn on or off.

  • IMAP Mail and local storage of vs iCloud

    Mail application

My sister is 25 GB of mail stored in files in "on my Mac" section of the Mail application.

its 128 GB MacBook Air has only 2 GB of free space.

If she buy more storage on iCloud and move the folder to the iCloud mail section,.

She will win free space on the Mac,

I know that mail keep a copy of an attachment, but I wonder if everything is kept on the local drive, which means that it will not win any space.

    I'm not sure.

She won't win any computer disk space. Store it on an external drive.

  • El Capitan Sever problem Mail

I'm upgrading to Lion Server to Server 10.11 El Capitan.  The server is running on a Mac Pro 3.1 with several readers.  The OS is on its own disk, data on another.  I built a new server 10.11, then used Migration Assistant to bring in the previous settings of the old Lion Server.  The upgrade went well with the following exception.

My old Lion Server was created to store messaging data not on the drive of the BONE, rather on the separate data reader.  It was a fairly simple framework in the Server Admin application.   When I connect you to the new server client machines 10.11, no mail stored appears in email clients.  If I turn the old Lion Server instead of the new server 10.11, client machines see. At first, I thought that the 10.11 server was not established to look for mail on the data reader.  I changed the location of service for the 10.11 Server data point to the data reader.  (There seems not to be a setting for e-mail in particular data, so I put all the data the service to use the replacement data reader. Stored mail still does not appear in e-mail clients after this change.

I think I have the mail setting exactly the same on both servers.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

Did you enter the users from scratch on the new server or upload them via.app? If you have created new users, then chances are that they have a new GUID and so the mailbox is there but not seen.

  • "Could not perform this operation because the default mail client is not properly installed" when you use Windows Mail

Original title: loss of entrance of Protocol in the list of saved files

I use an old Toshiba laptop of two year with Vista as an operating system. It came with a trial version of Microsoft Office already installed. I had no use for it then after the trial expires I uninstalled. This seems to have created a minor problem with the e-mail program. When I visit a Web site and click on 'Contact us' I get an error message as follows "cannot perform this operation because the default mail client is not properly installed." I suspect strongly as during the uninstallation of office he removed a protocol in the list entry, similarly, the bottom of the list of the saved files. A check with other similar computers with Vista installed seems to confirm this. If someone at - it a quick fix to this problem? I don't want to resort to installing a whole new email software to fix this minor problem if I can avoid it.

Hello Karena R, yesterday, I downloaded and installed Windows Live Mail, and I must say that I prefer Windows Mail Live Mail program. After making sure that Live Mail is the deafult for all messaging functions and that the entry "Mail Protocol" was now back to the list of saved files, I checked the problem mentioned in my original post. He is not fixed! Another small problem is fixed now if. In my "drafts" mailbox I have some e-mails stored there and when I click on one of them upwards now comes an email with the appropriate address inserted in the address line. Who could not before. I used to get this error message, which is now the new title of my post. So why the difference when I click on email address that I find on Web sites? Now, I also find that by Michael following the instructions (below), I do not see an entry "mailto" but his suggestion to step d. type in "URL Protocol" is not appropriate because it is already there. The installation of an entirely new email software should have my computer all the necessary entries for the new program to function properly in all respects. So what's happening? It begins to look as if uninstalling the program Office has pulled something real Vista operating system.

It's a good thing, I thought of the research on other boards for my missing post.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\mailto

    c. in the Edit menu, select new, then clickstring goodwill.

    d. type of Protocol of URL as the name of the new string value

    e. exit the registry editor
