EliteBook 755 g3: elitebook HDD

Hello, I have installed on my Elitebook 755 g3 SSD and I want to update install a HARD drive for photos and movies (keeping all programs on the ssd).
It is, I don't know what type of HARD drive I can install it on the laptop. 7mm or 9.5 mm? I think that 7mm because the laptop is very thin, but I couldn't find anything on the specifications.

You're welcome, mate!

No, a 9.5 mm disk fails in a small Bay. You can adapt a 7.0 mm in a Bay of 9.5, but the reverse is not possible.

  • update from HDD to SSD on elitebook 8460p

    Hello

    I own the elitebook 8460p.

I want to upgarde it and replace with a new SSD HARD drive.

A new SSD SATA3 would work?

What features should I put my mind in the purchase the SSD?

    Thank you!

    Hello

SASA3 is backwards compatible so would work. In fact they are standard now, but I would go for Intel, Samsung, SanDisk, Crucial. I have not had luck with Kingston and OCZ.

    Hello

Thanks for posting in the HP Support forum!

What is your availability/capacity of the HDD/SSD? May be mean you gigabytes by writing that "my current storage is 220 MB and only have 8.5 MB remaining for the updates." - could you elaborate? Is this HP Elitebook 850 and Win 7?

  • HP EliteBook 8730w: replacement of SSD for the boot drive not recognized

I'm trying to install a Samsung SSD 840 EVO 500 GB instead of the original 500 GB HDD in my Elitebook 8730w (product no. VF889PA #ABG). The 8730w has the latest BIOS (F.20) installed and that is running Windows 7 Professional 32-bit (fully patched).

When it is connected to the laptop through a USB adapter, to clone the HARD disk image. the SSDS works correctly. Cloning through data Migration Samsung is reported as a success, and the image of the C:\ drive occupies approximately 153 GB. The image of the disc does not include the partition of 1 GB dedicated to HP_TOOLS, due to a known limit of the Samsung software supplied.

When it is installed in the HARD drive Bay. the SSD is not recognized as a drive and does not appear in the list of startup options. The available boot options only shown are the DVD or a network boot.

would be very grateful for any advice on the steps required to successfully install the Samsung SSD as boot drive.

    Hmmm.
Honestly no, I'm not happy with this one. If it was my machine, I'd be a little concerned about whats the corner of the street. In view of the age, is not surprising really, things wear out over time, the mere fact of electronics.

Search through everything you have posted, all photos, pdf, all the text double checking. I am absolutely puzzled as to what happened. If you 100% does not reinstall the hard disk between the posts above where no HARD drive is detected in the menu boot options for the post below that where the HARD drive is detected in the same menu. I would say that you have a problem with either, the ssd, the computer motherboard laptop or the small connector on the sata port, I think on these is integrated on the motherboard, so it seems that your advice is doubtful.
If his works now, great... but be aware that your machine can fail at some point in the near future. And it looks like a defect of the motherboard, other things are probably waiting to fail.

There is no reason whatsoever your laptop must not have seen this ssd at first startup. A HARD drive is a HARD disk, if its compatible sata, then it will work, no doubt. When he is not on an older machine, its probably a sign of a faulty component.

Looking through your bios options, I recommend the following.

On startup options, get rid of internal nic pxe boot, that will only slow your machine at startup as it will seek for a network bootable device. This is the message that you get at startup saying Media Test Failure, this page is preventable with this option disabled.
Less built lan/wlan switching on enabled in the options of the terminal, also change. This means that if you use wifi at home for example and you decide to plug in a cable network directly to the router to speed up the connection, it will not pass if it is not defined, you will have to do it manually. I work in a large company and the number of people who have this option is unreal. They all assume when they are docked they will on the wired connection.

Because we are here too, if you ever have problems with a flickering screen, first thing to try, is disable the ambient light sensor which is just below this option of switching. Its fine on normally, but its quite common on 8560p for this causes a flickering screen.

Hope that helped. Good luck in what you decide to do with the machine

  • EliteBook 8740w: HP elitebook 8740w mobileworkstation

My HP elitebook 8740w mobileworkstation, continues to give me a message unknown device is not a driver & shows the problem with the PnP devices.  Trying to use my laptop to hook a projector, but it will not mirror or even appear on the screen.  Can anyone help?

    Hello:

I doubt that this missing driver is the cause of the video problem you are experiencing.

However, you need the driver for this device.

This package provides HP 3D DriveGuard to the notebook models and operating systems. HP 3D DriveGuard receives notifications of the built-in accelerometer and protects the hard drive (HDD) by automatically "the heads of parking" to reduce the risk of damage if the laptop is accidentally moved or deleted.

    FTP://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp53501-54000/sp53795.exe

As much on the PC do not project onto a screen, the only suggestion I can offer is make sure you have installed the driver of graphics for model graphics card that has your laptop.

There are pilots of 7 cards listed on the support page, so unfortunately, I don't know that you need.

A missing graphic driver is usually the cause of problems like this.

  • M.2 for the elitebook 745 g2 ssd

    Hello

I would like to know if the WWAN slot (I think it's a PCIE port) in the elitebook 745 g2 (see image) could be used to insert an ssd m2 as extra storage. The only information I have is this forum (http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/elitebook-700-series-elitebook-725-g2-elitebook-745-g2-and-e... where it says that this operation would be that the system recognizes not the module.) Can someone confirm that your experience?

It's a shame I can't use this location for that purpose. Is there a way around the problem?

Thanks in advance for your help

Please see HP EliteBook 745 G2 HP Notebook PC and PC portable G2 EliteBook 755 - Maintenance and Service of Guidefor more information on this model. Based on the MSG, it does not appear that the WWAN slot will support an SSD m2.

  • HP Elitebook 8470w/display screen does not

    Hello

We have a 8470w (XT908UT) computer laptop Elitebook with the screen on the laptop does not.

Do us get the display on an external monitor but not on the laptop to display itself.

Check the display settings of the control panel and Device Manager, the external screen is present while the computer screen is not.

We have unplugged every unnecessary internal element for display (same HDD, keyboard and trackpad)), problem persists

We changed 2 motherboards, 2 screens and card 1 gfx. Still the same problem persists.

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks in advance.

After some research in the service manual and hp partsurfer.

It seems that we have received a gfx NVIDIA instead of one card

Gfx ATI card. The service manual says its compatible but not. Partsufer mentions only the gfx ATI card when the laptop

    PartNumber is submitted.

    the display is now correct.

hope this helps future display troubleshooting.

    Dear support,

I have just bougth HP Elitebook 9480 m which has 180 GB of SSD. I want to upgrade to HDD 1 TB 9.5 mm (height). I have just replace SSD with my old HARD 80 GB drive.  But he can't close the back cover (disk, back cover). The system can detect my new HARD drive.

I was wondering, my laptop can support HDD normal 9.5 mm (height).

Can you give me a suggestion?

    Thank you.

    Hello

Page #39 his manual, looks ONLY 7 mm HDD suported. In theorey, it can support 9.5 mm HARD drive, BUT as you can see, 9.5 mm HARD drive will not fit.

  • Upgrading processors EliteBook?

    Hey guys' no lags.

    I recently bought a 8770p Elitebook.

    Specifications are

Chipset mobile Intel QM57 Express, 4 GB RAM, 500 gb HDD, i7 840QM clocked at 1.73 ghz, Intel HD Graphics (GMA) with Nvidia MVS 3100 M.

Here my question, I want to be able to play better games on this subject, because the processor is not enough powerful im all for the upgrade it but the graphics car is low incredilbly and is integrated (unfortunately). I was able to upgrade the processor and get a more powerful integrated graphics with her card, or am I stuck with it? The RAM can be upgraded to 8 GB so some decent graphics and that would be really sweet. Im not talking bf4 on ultra chart either, just good enough to play some mid level games as Outlast and Dayz.

    Thank you!

    He is a 8440p... 14-inch screen.

    Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

You already have the top processor and the laptop can come as a discrete or UMA. There is also a workstation with a slightly more powerful graphics card version. See Page 4-50. None has an MXM video card slot. You could theoretically install the card mother 8440w and have a 512 meg graphics card, Nvidia N10M-GLM, but if you already have the nVidia graphics, the difference between the discreet 8440p and the graphic workstation is negligible. These video cards are for works of civil engineering such as CAD and design in 3D and not for games even if they will be better than an Intel HD3000 game of course. I can't find the motherboard of 8440w on HP site or eBay but much advice discrete 8440p is available on eBay. If you actually have the UMA (Intel only) then your only way to improve video performance is to buy and install the motherboard dedicated graphics processor.

There is info on the graphics card from nVidia available on 8440 series:

    http://www.nvidia.com/object/product_quadro_fx_380_m_us.html

    http://www.notebookcheck.NET/NVIDIA-Quadro-FX-380M.24737.0.html

This is an entry level graphics card workstation. What they correspond to the Geforce 310 M, which is at the level of the very bottom of the discrete video cards. This article (above) indicates that the drivers used for the use of the workstation could actually hamper performance of game, so you can see if you can get a consumer game driver type to work for you.

  • Maximum supported size of HARD drive for HP Elitebook 8440p Windows 7 Pro 64 bit runing

Hello, I just bought a HP Elitebook 8440p "off lease" of Tigerdirect and seeks to upgrade the two memory (from 4 GB to 8 GB) and put in the eligible of the biggest HARD drive I can. Either a 512 GB SSD or a 1 TB WD hybrid WD BLACK2 (1 TB HDD / 120 GB SSD Combo drive in a single package!). I would like to see more large disk addressable by using Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit OS since I don't seem able to find this info on the web. HP offers only only a 256 GB SSD in its specifications. but I didn't know if it was do limitations of BIOS or availability at the time of production, even for the HARD drive to 512 GB.

Also, I would like to know if 9.5 mm compliant Bay that it needs to be for the WD drive. Can't find that either, and while the new laptop has not yet happen, all measure exactly the same way regarding what works and what simply cannot be "cheated".

Thank you for taking the time to read this and NO information to that effect would be Greatl appreciated!

Essentially the reason why you do not have a maximum size of hard drive is because there is not everything. Between SATA and 64-bit OS', worrying about maximum size of hard drive is a thing of the past. Are the biggest readers found in the manual, as you suspected him, just a function of the market at the time of manufacture. It was a few years ago now, it is so understandable that the offerings were "at the time" more thin than now.

    Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

Page 4-9 shows the procedure of the Bay and the replacement of the hard disk. The Bay is made for a 9.5 mm thickness 2.5-inch wide SATA hard but the new 7 mm readers also works. The black hybrid drive requires some software (included in the package) to treat the two drives in Windows and I read a modest amount of disappointment in the documentation about them. If you can afford the 512 GB SSD go in this direction and you will not be sorry. I use a Samsung 840 Evo and it has worked perfectly for me for almost 2 years and the most recent 850 I hear is even better.
