    Hello

Implimentation SNMP in vSphere 4.0 differs from ESX 3.5.x.

You need to download a zip file containing all of the SMIv2 (RFC2578/STD58)

compliant MIB modules for use with ESX/ESXi and vCenter with

related application notes. These MIB modules support all ESX, ESXi

  • Behavior of the expected multiple SNMP server host?

    Hi all

I'm working on a network by which our client has a SNMP existing system on the control switches.

I add our own SNMP device to the environment, but I want to make sure it does not replace or remove their existing configuration.

My thoughts are, that if I enable snmp-server host x.x.x.x communitystring

Will it overwrite their existing snmp server host configuration

Can anyone confirm this? Especially for 3750's and 2960 x. #.

    Thank you

    Nick

Hi, no it will not overwrite the existing configuration of snmp.

  • Enable SNMP to send blocked due to the loop network interface

    Dear community,

We had a customer who has created a loop on his layer access and STP blocked some interfaces in order to protect the network.

Normal behaviour until now, but we would like to receive the device, when these events occur, usually when an interface is set to err - disable or close (I guess it's more err - disable).

We noticed that somehow the concerned interface was sometimes stay down without checking back and maybe change her status.

I tried a few commands such as:

Server enable SNMP traps stpx root-incompatibility incompatibility loop-inconsistent

Enable SNMP-Server intercepts the port security (this is probably more for quantity of excess on the interface MAC)

I also found a nice MIB called Cisco-Err-disable

But I have the feeling that I missed something on the side of the device,

Any help in setting this up would be greatly appreciated,

  • Why is the snmp Server user must be added to the configuration

I find that when I download a new configuration of a router with tftp which I then go back and add the following lines

Server SNMP user sxxi-sxxs_SNMP = sxxxxxQ SXBI v3 auth md5 TaXXXXXXEsp & home

    AND

    Enable SSH

    generate encryption rsa key

    768

And when you do a show start or run the command you do not see the snmp-server user configuration.

Is there a better way that I am I missing?

An SNMP user shouldn't show in the running-config. Use 'display the snmp user '.

For SSH, it is more difficult to know the reason. Maybe nothing is done in the right order. As the domain name must be written before "generate the rsa encryption key", etc.

  • Adding host snmp-server error

I install new software to version 8.03 running ASA5510 and using ASDM-603.

The ASDM to add host computers using snmp-server, most of the ip addresses in the subnet works very well. However, I have two addresses that always display an error "conflict of IP address with the broadcast interface address.

One of the addresses is 192.168.100.79 and the management of the ip interface is 192.168.100.252 with a 24 bit mask. It's weird because I can add 192.168.100.78 or 80 simply not the 79. BTW, 88 is a second, I tried and got the same error. I have several in the same subnet that works wonders.

Someone knows what may cause this?

    Thanks in advance.

This is bug CSCsm15806, where if you have any interface on the ASA configured with a 255.255.255.252 mask, ASDM raise an error when you try add a snmp server with an address of the host that would be a broadcast with this mask address. The interface is not serious, this is just if you have any interface with a 255.255.255.252 mask on it.

The bug was fixed only 4 days ago so is not yet in an official statement. For now, just add the snmp via the CLI server and you will be OK, but proceed to 6.0 (4) when you see it on the website.

  • Enable syslog server behind the PIX

Could someone tell me a config that allows a server syslog (Kiwi syslog) to get behind the PIX syslogs. I have a 2K with the KIWI syslog server behind a PIX 501.

I have the static command, the access group and the access-list:

    public static 192.104.109.92 (Interior, exterior) 192.168.15.200 netmask 255.255.255.255 0 0

    Access-group local_server in external interface

local_server list access permit udp any host 192.104.109.92 eq syslog

    Man, I can't understand it.

    Thanks for any help

    You could:

    1. make a capture of port syslog traffic directed to the syslog server.

2 Terminal monitor - deny traffic showed clearly when I had not set up the firewall to forward the traffic. (Note: attention on busy firewall)

3 netstat - a on the syslog server

    4. If you allow, you should be able to portscan the server on port of syslog by your firewall.

    5. is your syslog capture created file? It is not created if the service never started.

6 - is the service running in the system context or perhaps another account that doesn't have the correct rights?

The answers seem to indicate a service not started that seemed likely. What you describe happened to me when I had the demon also version; I went to service version and the problem has been resolved (once I opened the port.)

I love the kiwi syslog. I use with Snare and BacklogIIS and receive alerts within 60 seconds to my mailbox when something bad happens. It always fools of my end users out when I call them with the problem solved when they seek always my number report the problem.

Don't know if there are other settings of snmp that must be put in place or I missed something

    Thank you for your help

    Hello

Can you try to set up OMNM like this http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/network-switches/f/866/t/19535001.aspx

Set up two profiles of authentication in OMNM. ((1) SNMP v1/v2c and used the SNMP community string, I put on the Force 10 switch 2) Telnet/SSH using the switches telnet user ID, password and the password 'Enable' leaving him activate ID empty.

  • Discovery of switch Dell OMNM 5.3

    Hello

We have two switches in the lab and try to play with OMNM however I'm unable to the discovery process. Default SNMP seems successful but telnet/ssh or ssh2 works. Any help would be much appreciated...

Depends on the type of connection I get different error.

SSHv1 (force10): closed device connection prematurely

    (powerconnect) sshv1: closed java.io.ioexception.stream

    SSHv2: wrong ssh credentials provided...

Telnet:failed to connect to the device...

With respect to authentication; I've added the username and password in the 'user id', 'user password' and 'enable password '.

No firewall is installed on vm 2008R2 with no UAC 5.3 OMNM. Server can ping and access to the swithces without any problem. After you can see force10 partial config below...

It seems that IE (version 8) and the problem of compatibility of java causing problem to the discovery stage, so I have found a workaround using the browser (chrome) different. Not sure if this is relevant or not, but I also lowered the java security setting in the middle.
