ENVY 17-j005tx BIOS CORRUPTION - URGENT

Hello

I have HP ENVY 17-j005tx and it showed the HP updates and let it install automatically. He invites restart me my laptop for the bios upgrade. The laptop was on the current and it restarts and I confirmed to install bios when it restarts to the UEFI bios update page. After all the blocks have been written he restarted, it self and gave me a blank screen. Then all of a sudden it turned off it self. I waited, but nothing happened. So I decided to turn on. And nothing appears on the screen (the screen is not turning on at all) and the WiFi led is on (orange). I realized the Caps Lock led flashes twices during startup. I read on the HP site and defines it as a corruption of BIOS. I also read in one of the HP help pages by pressing Win Key + B while turning on the laptop, it should bring up the BIOS recovery page, but it does not work.

It would be great if someone can help me with this problem. I have not guaranteed + insurance but I do not know there is a way to fix this problem before going to the store for a replacement. Also, if someone could please send me a partition of their Envy 17-j005tx HP_TOOLS (to get the bios such as 0xxxx.fd files, 0xxxx.) BIN, 0xxxx. BIN. DEC and 0xxxx. (GIS). This will help me to include these files in my HP Flash DRIVE recovery. (I install a HP UEFI environment [HP_TOOLS] on a USB key from another HP laptop I have - I need the files mentioned in order to Flash the bios)

Download the softpaq diagnosis on another PC. Connect a USB to the computer even. quevous use and double-click the softpaq. Choose to install the PC_Tools to the USB STICK. You can also download the versions earlierer of the BIOS the drivers download support web document and extract the softpaq to use as source for BIOS files you requested.

    Hi all

If the solution was done by a kind shop in Hungary, http://reballing.hu

and a specialist in firmware http://vinafix.vn

So apperently my BIOS has been corrupted that CAPS lock sign showed and it could have been rewritten with HP Diagnostics if HP could provide the RSA key for her...

In this case it is not provided, you don't have that one other solution, to find a nice (as reballing.hu) repair shop, where the guys are nice enough to disassemble your computer, take the chip and write the data without the requirement of RSA software HP Diag using a writer BIOS correctly. You can also buy writers of the bios and the tools, but he could be uite costly and risky for you to do...

So you have a repair guy, the only other thing that you might need to trust is the dump of the BIOS correct, please note that the supplied with the softpaqs .bin file is encrypted, so it must be decrypted, it is not an easy task, it worked for me too after awhile, but better to find a provider of bios (saves time for you as well and that is why HP is not willing to give it to you, you have two choices: make a work computer, and read the bios in this way (you must have the identical chip and content, so preferabily the same card mother or product)

Or go to www.vinafix.vn and ask them to provide you with, these people are kind enough to explain how the thing works and what you need to write your own return data.

So once that you set is not more than 30 minutes for a handy guy and as they work at the time, it is fairly cheap as well, it cost me 25 USD total (10 for bios) and 15 for the actual work done

It's a shame that yu can not really find information about this threat, and also that it can happen to your computer at any time it seems that, always in waiting to see what caused, and if she came back or not... but as of now, I am pleased that the computer is back on!

  • HP ENVY 17-j005tx Notebook Finger print reader questions

    Hi all

Already a few weeks or so, my fingerprint reading begins to play up - when I start the laptop, it seems do us somehing to the connection and logon fails permanently - when I try to open a session keyboard always fingerprint reader sends something and can not connect - it just cause connection to fail over and over in a loop.  I can just manage to turn off the laptop by clicking on the button turn off and select the off option.

I found a reason if I hit F10 to enter the BIOS setup, e and exit, reboot all goes well.  Then I can use the fingerprint reader to log in again. Then a few weeks can go and the same thing!

What gives?  Someone at - it suggestions? Is this a bug of material or something - it is possible to disable the fingerprint reader so that if in the future he sticks completely upward, I would at least have the ability to disable.

Hello, I'm recovering from the corruption of BIOS, hoping that it is not a failed mobo.

I downloaded the latest BIOS update for my system, but I can't this file to install on an external USB key using HP instructions to restore the BIOS.

To 1.11 step, I don't get the "HP system BIOS Update Utility" screen. Instead, I get this:

    My questions:

    1. is there an easy way to get this .exe on a USB? (I tried 3 computers and 3 cards USB, WTH then?)

    2. If not, can I just unzip and create a bootable USB in another program by copy/pasting the BIOS file?

    3. is there anything else I should try before flashing the BIOS?

Thanks in advance for your help. ^^

UPDATE: the "BIOS error" was in fact the video card that failed due to repeated overheating. The repair shop, replace the video card and repaired the overheating problem (I don't ask how), and my computer is like new.

For those who have a similar with their computer, my error "BIOS" problem (as it is coded by flashing lights of my computer) turns out to be a video card has failed.

The repair shop, said that what happens when computers overheat frequently, which mine did. Thus, they have changed the video card and solved the overheating problem, and my computer is in working condition.

  • Replace drive HARD system with Samsung EVO SSD 1 TB of HP ENVY 17 - j005tx laptop computer

    Hi all

Wanting just a few tips on how to migrate and replace the system drive without having to reinstall everything again.

The Migration of Samsung tool work?  When I check my HDD in the laptop there 5 partitions...

The HARD drive, I would like to replace a the following Partitions:

    400 MB (Recover Parition)

    260MO (EFI Partition)

    904 GB (drive c :) - NTFS)

    350 MB (recover Partition)

25.5 GB (drive D: Recover - NTFS drive)

According to the Samsung User Guide data Migration tool, he mentions the following:

    http://www.Samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/MZ-7TE1T0BW

6 recovery OEM partitions, at the plant by computer makers, cannot be replicated. However, if the PC is manufactured by Samsung and SRS (Samsung Recovery Solution) 5 or 6 is installed, the recovery partition is automatically cloned. (Not supported in versions prior to SRS 5)

How can I migrate all recovery OEM as well as partitions C: and D: partitions?

If you burn the recovery DVD, you don't need the recovery partition... they hold the same data. I try the clone on the new drive and see if it works. If it isn't then you still have the original drive and nothing has been lost. Reported problems with the migration of Samsung software. Personally, I use Acronis True Image Home for cloning, and it is not.

  • HP Envy 700-074 model BIOS corruption, or bug, etc.

    Hello

My name is Patrick Barker, and I'm an analyst of the blue screen of death core Dump. During the last week, I ran into two users having a HP Envy 700-074 computer and experience the same exact bug check. The first time I met such a bug check, I imagined that the user may have simply received a system with a bad BIOS, things like this happen in computers all the time. Well, the user contacted HP and replaced it with the exact same model course, and he had the same problem.

Right at that time, I discovered another user knows exactly the same problem as the previous user. With a consistency like this, I wonder if there is a corruption of the BIOS and/or the bug associated with this particular model?

What is happening is that there is a frequency of verification of bug ACPI_BIOS_ERROR (a5) .

This bug check indicates that the BIOS Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) computer is not fully compliant with the ACPI specification.

    Error checking A5, {1000, 0, 80001000, 25}

The 1st setting has always been far 1000.

    1000 = ACPI_BIOS_USING_OS_MEMORY.

ACPI has been a fatal error during the processing of a region of memory operation. The region of operation memory tried memory card which has been attributed to the use of the OS.

This bug check usually appears in these 2 scenarios:

1 BIOS bug / damaged and must be resolved with an update or go back to the manufacturer.

    2 Rootkit (not very common).

In our case, it is #1. Exactly, what is happening? I can't be quite too sure due to having to have a version controlled ACPI.sys to debug such a question and with what is happening on another system user, I won't use them as guinea pigs. However, this seems a general problem from what I can tell about this model BIOS. For reference, a BIOS update is not currently available for this specific model, so not quite sure that the end user can do, especially if their systems of replacement of the same model have the same question over and over again.

    -----------------

Two threads where it occurs, I will update if I see anymore:

    1. Windows 8 crashes after being in the mode 'sleep' - Microsoft Community

    2. brand new computer under Windows 8 - 2 accidents in first day - Microsoft Community

Why I write this here? Well, on the one hand, I can't find a place to contact HP and / r supports directly without really own a HP machine. So, with that said, two questions:

    1. is there a way to contact HP directly on this issue?

    2. is it and/or any other person with this specific model of HP's have this problem?

    Kind regards

    Patrick

    Hi Patrick,

This forum is mainly of volunteers, and HP has no official presence here.    I ask that your question is raised.  In the meantime, you or your client should open an official ticket with HP support.  These PC is still covered by the warranty.

  • HP ENVY 15-j140na: BIOS Version F.67 Rev.A, update July 7

I tried to start the portable Envy above today (July 8) and the BIOS has been corrupted. If I got flashed via USB with the latest version, just published yesterday on July 7.

It may have been pure chance around the date but there was a vulnerability in the previous BIOS?

("- Provides improved UEFI code and variable security.") Or is it more likely to be my machine?

(I have not used the machine in a week or more, it was in hibernation).

    Is there a changelog anywhere?

Sorry, there is no change log. Under patches and unavailability in the BIOS on the software details, updates to the BIOS of the past all three indicate "Provides a security enhanced code of UEFI and variable" or similar.

  • HP Envy 17 "touchscreen: BIOS update failure

Today I went to the page for my desire to get updated for network drivers.  While there, I saw an update of the bios date 03/08/16 (today) and went ahead and installed it.  He said in a box she had to restart my laptop and that was the last time that my cell phone worked.  I now have a black screen and the cap lock key blinks twice, then paused and then flashes twice.  Over and over again.

The system does not recognize HD, DVD, or USB drives.

  • Satellite A200 - 1 CG PSAE3E: BIOS corrupted - solved with the crisis recovery disk

    Hi all

I would like to report on the success of the recovery of corrupted bios on my Satellite A200 - 1 CG (PSAE3E).
Like many others I downloaded a latest bios update for my laptop and it started under Windows 7 64-bit.

In fact I only needs of some practical information from the bios update tool, but the update started automatically
without a question. :( After several blocks has been updated the progress bar stuck a heterocycle.
In 2 minutes, I got only the system completely frozen. I turned off the system manually, it works again, and...
my laptop was completely dead: screen etc black and of course, I wasn't able to boot in Windows 7.

So for those who only plans to update the bios: DO NOT update the BIOS ON the SATELLITE UNDER WINDOWS! THE UPDATE MAY BE STUCK!

I searched on the web has found a solution. With a specially created disk and external usb floppy drive, the problem can be solved then

I tried the recovery procedure described here, but it did not help. Earlier versions of tool phlash16.exe
where it is not able to restore the bios. I heard that the disk was read constantly for about 2 minutes. After the recommended 5 min break, I changed the power of and then turned back on it and... I had the same darkness of the screen as before :(

The strange thing is that the latest version of the tool phlash16.exe also did not work, but it was different from the earlier version. If I used the older version of the tool, the disk has been read for about 2 min, if used the latest version of the disk was read for about 10 seconds. It was for me, as the bios was not simply read by the tool.

So I searched and searched again. Then I found it: it takes phlash.ini to the phlash16.exe!
I downloaded an old bios (something from 2007) for an unknown Toshiba laptop to the Toshiba site. I renamed both the archive and found a phlash.ini inside. I changed only the second line in the ini file of... = 0 to... = 1 (I guess).

Then I formatted the diskette under dos, copied the minidos.sys he phlash16.exe (latest version), a new bios for my laptop in BIOS. WPH (I guess) and after a phlash.ini has been fixed. After that, I started the crisis recovery makeboot.exe utility (found on the site, which I mentioned earlier). After that, I have the phone in recovery mode (Fn + B) bootet and... It worked like a charm. So, the important thing was the phlash.ini!

So for those who has the same problem with corrupt bios, I've had: it's phlash.ini and the latest version of the tool phlash16.exe.
All other information can be retrieved on the web site, which I mentioned earlier. The described method works with the phoenix bios!

    So good Look

    Kind regards
    Igor

    Thanks for the friend information
But to be honest, the procedure of BIOS is always a sensitive issue and I would be always careful in using such things.

When even good to know that your device is running again!
