erasure of the computer to start again

I received a computer from a member of the family with the installation cd (microsoft windows xp home edition with the cd of use) I want to erase all data currently on the computer and start new, how do I do this?  The former owner has save and recovered all the data they want, I would like to erase and start again,

I agree with the post of Jeeped formatting the drive will be enough for what you want.

Make sure you have the 25 character product key to activate before the start. If the machine is an office look at the back of the COA that will have the product key; the COA on a laptop is usually on the bottom. The product key may be also in the case of CDs, the installation discs are in or in any documentation you received. If you are not able to find, Jeeped of Belarc or Magical Jelly Bean suggestion will help.

You should be able to install Windows XP Home Edition on your disks for installation without any problem. See method 1: perform a clean installation of Windows XP in the Knowledge Base article below:

How to install or upgrade to Windows XP
 http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/978307

After Windows Setup don't forget to install drivers for all your hardware, i.e., motherboard (chipset), audio, video, LAN (network adapter), etc. Check the support site of the manufacturer of the computer for the latest Windows XP drivers for your specific model of the system. Depending on your specific hardware, you may need to visit the support site of the manufacturer for the latest drivers. Belarc Advisor helps you identify the hardware of the machine.

Note: Your Windows XP Home Edition is 32-bit (it was not available in 64 - bit).

Your system has onboard video (the graphics card is integrated on the motherboard) there is a high probability that its Intel, the link below may help:

If your system have a dedicated video (graphics) card, it's probably a nVidia or AMD (formerly ATI) adapt:

In addition, once you have all the drivers installed, you will need update Windows XP Home Edition with Service Pack 3 (SP3) Windows XP without SP3 only is not officially supported (support for Windows XP SP2 ended July 13, 2010).

To install SP3, you must first have Windows XP Service Pack 1 (SP1a) or Service Pack 2 (SP2) is installed, see the page linked below for more details:

Learn how to install Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3)
 http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/help/learn-how-to-install-Windows-XP-Service-Pack-3-SP3

To determine the level of service your Windows XP Home Edition pack, check the installation diskettes or after installation click Start then right click on my computer, in the context menu, select Properties. In the System Properties window, under settings , you should see a service pack level, but it is possible, there is no service pack not included in your installation disc. If it indicates that you have Service Pack 2, you need to only install Service Pack 3.

You can download SP2 and SP3 from the links below:

When you have finished installing the service packs, you should run Windows Update as often as updates will create additional updates conditions (especially some the Service Packs .NET Framework). Run Windows Update, until the message no update is necessary.

It manages and implements Volume Shadow copies used for backup purposes and others. If this service is stopped, shadow copies will be unavailable for backup and the backup may fail. I have two versions of the same book on my iphone and ipad, which are not synchronized with the other.  I want the same book on each device, so I can study on one or the other.  I tried to remove the books on my phone, ipad & itunes and start again.  It does not work.  Help.

    Hello david.hogan87,

Thanks for posting about what is happening. If I understand you correctly, you have a book you want on your iPhone and iPad, but neither is synchronizing correctly to have both.

Have you checked every device to confirm that the same identifier Apple is signed all three?

iPhone and iPad: head to settings > iTunes and App Store

iTunes: on a Mac, it's under account or installed depending on the version of iTunes store.  On a PC, it is also under account, and if you don't see the menu bar, click on the triangle in the upper left corner to view the Bar Menu or CTRL + B on the keyboard.

If all 3 have the same signed Apple ID, post the version of iOS and iTunes for all three devices here, please.

    Best regards.

Try to rename or delete the file prefs.js and possible prefs - numbered # .js and a user.js file possible to restore the values all default prefs.

Create a new profile as a test to see if your profile is the source of the problems.

    See "create a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a profile in the new profile, but make sure not to copy corrupted files.

Try to start the computer in safe mode Windows with network support (on the startup screen, press F8) as a test to see if that helps.
