Error 8024402f Windows

Windows update error 8024402f

I'm on Windows 7 Starter on a Netbook Asus which has worked very well since purchased new several months ago.

I installed Microsoft Security Essentials on turn on the netbook and no other anti-virus software is installed.

The above error message appears in the last week or two. I can also update security software virus definitions or receive automatic updates of Windows.

I worked through the main troubleshooting steps for the error message above, the site of microsoft.com without success.

Any suggestions please?

    Hello

Often we see weird behavior as the result of a program of loading during the startup process.

To solve these, we use the clean boot troubleshooting.

The following article describes this process:

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

Please note that after refine us the cause, it is important that we return to a normal startup and manually delete the startup program.

We'll do this before uninstalling Service Pack 2.

If the behavior persists, then we can clean boot, uninstall and reinstall Service Pack 2.

    Hello

Check if the date and time is correctly set on the PC.

Also, suggest you temporarily disable the security software and check if you are able to install the updates.
Important: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

  • 2012 Server R2 Windows Update error 8024402F Essentials

    Hi all

I have a newly installed Win 2 k 12 R2 Essentials server. Windows updates worked for the first time in court (first update etc.) but now when I go to check the updates manually, I get error 8024402F. I tried ALL the troubleshooting on various Internet sites without success. This includes CISD, sfc.exe, disabling firewall/scannow, etc..

I am at my wits end now with what I can't work out where it is a failure. To confirm, there is no firewall or proxy between this server and the internet.

Your advice and your support would be much appreciated!

    Thank you

  • Vista - Windows Update - Code error 8024402F

    Hello world

Desperately looking for advice on fixing my Windows Update; using Vista Home Premium, 64-bit. The problem has been consistent since about 10 days to have eliminated the possibility that it is related to the connection.  I completely many system restores.  I turned off Norton 360, even uninstalled and reinstalled.

Have included a few lines in the Windows Update log this evening to see if this will help you to point me in the right direction.

Thanks a lot for your help!

    Hello

I suggest you follow the link to the below error code.

Code error Windows Update 80244016, 8024402f, or c80003fa

  • MS Windows Update error: 8024402F Code

The machine in question is a VAIO running factory installed 32-bit Vista version 6.00 build 6000 who refuses to install updates through the Microsoft Update service returning the error code 8024402F "Windows Update has encountered an unknown error.

The history of the update shows that the automatic updates started defaulting in December 2008, when he was 6 months and never succeed after that. The first failures were actually for Windows Defender, which also failed since then. When I check each element failed the displayed error code is 80090006.

Online, I verified that Windows Vista is a recognized licensed copy.
I uninstalled the Microsoft AV Software installed at the beginning of 2010.
My internet connection works fine on this machine.
There is no installation of software suspicious around the time of December 2008.
I ran cCleaner to fix any registry problems.
I added that the MS update fixes in IE which is IE8.
I have two XP machines and a Windows 7 computer on the same network that update very well.

None of this has made all the difference and am now in desperation whereas the full version Download Vista SP1 and SP2 and install them locally. Does anyone have experience of these problems? I feel that they are not so rare, but I have tried most of the suggestions that non-specialist can do.

  • Windows 8024402F Windows Update error code encountered an unknown error

original title: Windows Update always in error Code 8024402F Windows Update encountered an unknown error even after freshly installed (Win7 Professional x 32 and x 64)

    Hello

I recently installed Windows 7 (new installation). Previously, I was using Windows Vista and everything worked OK.

I've upgraded to Windows 7 Pro 32 bit x (using the downloadable version), installed various software and every time I tried to update via Windows update, I get the error Windows could not search for new updates: an error occurred when the new updates for your computer. Error (s) found: Code 8024402F Windows Update encountered an unknown error.

I clicked on "Get help with this error" and used the Troubleshoot Utility "Windows Update", but could not find the error.

A week later, the problem still persisted and decided to re-download the whole windows 7 but this time by downloading the ISO version and installing the x 64 one. As soon as he performed the installation (no other software installed same antivirus), I immediately tried run Windows Update. I had the same error message. Tried to do the 'Windows Update troubleshooting"without success.

It also could be related. In both facilities, I tried to configure Windows Media Center. When he tried to install PlayReady, it gave me the error: an error occurred when downloading the installation package (error code: 0 x 80240022). When I ignore that, the next step (downloading TV setup data) stops with a a small point in the progress bar - even after half an hour.

Yet once, I used to use Windows Vista and it updated fine without any problem. In my installation of Windows 7, I am able to connect to the network, surf the internet, download files and use various software (for example, Yahoo Messenger, Skype, Kaspersky Antivirus that updates very well).

    Hope you can help.

    Thank you!

    Kind regards
    Jay

    @Uma R - technical support from Microsoft.

    Thank you for your information.

In fact, I was about to inform of a work around that worked for me, all that was necessary was to disable the Windows Firewall.

Of course that's not a definitive solution because it is obviously not a good idea to disable the firewall when downloading, also after I turn it back on I guess that automatic updates will be blocked again. A message indicating that the automatic updates were blocked was what first caught my attention on the problem.

I would say that someone on this forum who is in contact with the appropriate Microsoft group must pass this correction to be organized information. Now that I can download updates, I should be able to install it.  :-)

  • Clean install of Windows 7 SP1 (64-bit) error 8024402F

    * Edit - I've redirected to the Windows Update team.* network

After you perform a new installation of Windows 7 using the SP1 64 bit DVD, I get the error 8024402F.

I did this same setup on 2 computers last week and had the same error on both computers.
Things I've tried that don't work:
    • Tried to wear this laptop to my home network to install the updates
    • I tried to run the Microsoft Fix It tool
    • Automatic updates disabled with all the boxes
    • Changing DNS settings
    • Firewall disabled
    • TinyWall installed
    • Installed using .net 4 web install
    • Upgrade to IE9 using offline Installer
    • Tried to run a Bat file that disables and enables services
    • Delete / rename the folder C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution
    • System analysis tool
    Things to Note:
    • I am able to use Windows Update correctly on other computers very well. Just not those freshly installed SP1
    • Yes, I am able to connect and browse the internet
    • All the drivers seem to be working properly
    • I checked my router and nothing seems out of the ordinary

I don't know there is more that I don't remember.

I did this same process probably a hundred times without any problem using this DVD and goes directly from SP1 to install updates windows 100 +. Only in the last week or two, something has changed on the Windows Update site that doesn't allow me more start installing Windows updates since a disc newly formatted with W7SP1.
Were there changes in Windows updates in September/October? Is there a patch for this?

    SUCCESS!

Here's what I found out, see if it works for you as well.

Apparently, my ISP (mediacom) blocked the traffic for Windows Update. I installed a VPN client free to go around them and all updates installed. Now that the machine is updated, I have need the VPN client to the optional updates.

Since version original SP1 was not updated and managed Windows 7 32 bit, I can only assume that update server or the type of traffic for Windows 7 64 SP1 is different. I did not have a capture of packets, so I can't say with certainty.
