Hi PaulEich,

Welcome to the HP forums!

I see your message you have a Photosmart B109n you need to connect wirelessly to your Mac running 10.9. Absolutely, I'll do my best to help you with this!

I think that the software fails is because it has not provided be used with OS 10.9. At this time, HP does not have software complete features, you will need to install it via the Apple updates. Which leads to the next question, how do I connect the printer to your wireless network. To do this, we need to connect the Mac to the printer to get setup things correctly

Please follow this post that I did, that has worked for others, to get the printer connected to your wireless network. To restore the default settings of your printer network, please press the configuration option, then network, then restore default network, followed by Yes. So to print the Network Configuration page on your printer please follow the steps below:

  1. On the Control Panel, press the button ( ) next to Scan . The Scan/Wireless menu.

  • Photosmart C4780 wireless Mac connection failure

I, like some others I've seen messages on, will have exactly the same problem with my HP Photosmart C4780 of wireless connection to my MacBook.  I just bought this printer a couple of days with a new iMac (which I have not yet unpacked, yet).  I decided to see if I could go ahead and get the printer works with my Macbook.  Here is a breakdown of the specs, measures and tests.

    1 MacBook OS X 10.5.8 (Leopard) running.

    2. software is installed.

    3. to set up a wireless connection, the "Device unavailable" error appears in a dialog box.  This is the same error that others have had.  He continues with... "The network configuration has been correctly transferred to the device.  However, to continue the configuration of the device in the network, your Mac must have access to the device... ».

    4. I can load the page HTTP for my router (a Qwest Actiontec M1000) and see the IP address of the printer.

    5. I can successfully ping the the IP address Mac printers.

    6. I cannot correctly load the HTTP page to the printer via the IP address and the view that it is different pages.  I can even change some of the settings, however, apparently never really complete updates.

    7. After talking with HP support for more than 90 minutes (after waiting on hold for nearly 45 minutes, not a joke), we arrived at the conclusion that the modem/router must be the cause of the problem.  So, I was told to contact Qwest to get help.  Furthermore, technical support had me through many of the same steps I've seen on other items (for example, reset the printing system, uninstalling and reinstalling the software, reset my router, etc.).

8 next, before calling Qwest, I decided to see if I could get the printer runs on Windows.  Under WinXP SP2 on a platform completely separate (but), I was able to install the software correctly and successfully a wireless connection to the printer.  I rebooted the machine Windows several times and disconnected the power to the printer just to make the connection is when it was re-powered and rebooted.  And Yes, everything works perfectly on the Windows machine.  It tells me there is nothing wrong with the router (with a possible exception, which I will speak in a moment).

    9. given that the installation worked in the windows box, I decided to call HP.  This time I isn't that hold it for about 20 min.  I told them what the results were in the Windows world, and we proceeded to work on this issue with the Mac for about an hour.  We have made some of the same things, as for the first phone call, in addition to a few other checks.  It simply seems that software on Mac just cannot see the printer, which means that the HP software will be unable to see it as well.  It's very weird because I can still ping and also set up its Web page (on the Mac and Windows machines).  Now technology seems to think that this is a problem with Mac OS because it certainly works with a different OS with the same router.  I'm leaning toward the same conclusion as well.

    10. now for the question of the possible router I mentioned earlier.  I saw in another post where someone says hello.  Something the Actiontec only modems no routing of packets used by Hello.  I have absolutely no idea what the Hello devil is.  I tried to do a little research on this and am still confused as to what it is and what it does.  However, if Hello is something specific to the Mac and has nothing to do with the router itself, then it seems to me that the router had no knowledge of Hello (and certainly would not care).  Therefore, the ability of routers delivers packages for different platforms should not be affected by this Hello thing.  However, this does not mean the packets are not getting lost once they arrive at the Mac because of Hello (again, not knowing what it is).  Now if that's the case, then it seems to me that the problem would be with the Mac (in conjunction with this thing Hello), not the router.

    11. other positions reported this same problem wireless with this same printer using OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard).  If this is true, then when I finally unpack my new iMac, I expect to have the same problem... we'll see when I am near to it.  If he did not have this same problem, so maybe there is hope if I upgrade my MacBook to Snow Leopard.

If anyone has any other light to this problem, please let me know what might be the underlying issue, and how can I fix this (if someone already has).  Thank you.

Finally, problem solved!  Here is the solution, if someone else is facing a similar problem.

Since I found the IP address of the printer on the Web page of my router, I went in "Print and Fax" system preferences.  From there, I clicked on the sign "+" to add a printer.  Nothing appears in the default tab.  So, I went to the IP tab.  From there, I selected the Protocol for the "HP Jetdirect - Socket".  In the address field, I entered the IP address of the printer.  After a few moments, the printer was found and the field "Print using" is automatically filled with the print driver.  I clicked on "Add", and low and here's the printer now appears in my list of printers.

The second representative of HP I was working with me had to go through this same series of steps with one exception.  Never, we put the Protocol field.  He was left as default "Line Printer Daemon - LPD".  When this was done, nothing ever appeared.  So, I think that the trick was to change the field Protocol, as shown here.

I hope this helps those who have a similar problem.  Good luck.

  • Strange problem with wireless MAC

I think I have a rather unusual question.

The problem is that my Macbook Pro (osx Lion) is not able to access my Photosmart B109n wireless. I can only connect via the usb cable. I share the printer with two other laptop users (windows), but they are able to connect wirelessly. I have reinstalled the driver several times and tried to install the network configuration again and again but nothing works. This problem exists already for a long time, also until I upgraded to Lion.

I am convinced that the problem is not due to my router. At school, I'm not able to use the HP color LaserJet as well and I can only print via ethernet. In other words, there is something wrong with my mac. Seriously, I don't know what it could be.

Our "home network" is called "Fitz". Whenever I try to install the network printer configuration, the printer asks the key network and attempts to connect to "Fitz". Whenever the printer is able to connect to the network. After that, the config. Assistant told me that I can remove the usb cable to continue the installation. Then the problem happens. At the moment I have remove the usb cable, the laptop immediately tells me that it is not able to connect to the printer, because I am not connected to "Fitz" (I'm always) and I can only use the wireless printer if I am connected to "Fitz".

Reset the print/fax list no longer works!

Please please can someone help me? Thank you!

Nevermind, I was able to solve the problem today!

All I had to do was pick "Shared printer on the network" check box in the printer preferences. Gosh, if I had known this before... I was not able to print wireless for 5 months. Makes me so stupid.

It could take up to 3 minutes, depending on the speed of your computer and connection. Thank you for your patience. "and not going anywhere.

I saw a recent request for the driver to a different printer for someone who was having the same problem as me with the HP Web site.  The problem was solved by a direct link to the download.

  • How to install Photosmart B109n-z on a DHCP network wireless

I'm trying to install a HP Photosmart B109n-z on a wireless network.

There is no DHCP server on the network.

I can install and print using a USB cable.

When I try to reconfigure the display of the USB wireless I get a message that says printer

use the IP 169.254.95.189 which is not compatible with the address IP of the PC 10.1.9.1.

    HP documentation * recommends * using a DHCP server. So I guess it's * possible * for

do without. But I have found no instruction to do so.

There is a related announcement with the following title:

    > Resolved: Photosmart B109n-z - setting a static IP address on the printer on an active DHCP server router
    > 04/01/2010-11:24

    That the display shows:

    > Type the IP address in a browser.  You will see the internal settings of the printer.

But when I go to http://169.254.95.189 I have a connection delay.

169.254.95.189 ping succeeds. When I run a tool of command ' arp - a', I can see the printer.

The above has been done using a Windows Vista-based computer. To get a second opinion, I started a Linux machine

and did a ping 169.254.95.189. Which failed. Then I did a

    > Add a route - host 169.254.95.189 gw 10.1.6.1

10.1.6.1 where is my wireless router. Then ping succeeds but looking upward of http://169.254.95.189

    still gives a timeout.

So my main question is: how to set up printing on a DHCP-less network wireless.

And a second question: the printer is supposed to listen on TCP port 80 (http) or a magic

    necessary to turn on.

IP STATIC ASSIGNMENT HOWTO FOR HP PHOTOSMART B109n-z

The following instructions allow to assign a static IP address on an HP Photosmart
Printer B109n-z without using a DHCP server, and without using a router. The
statements can also be used for other types of printer setup.

    Necessary equipment:
    -A HP Photosmart B109n-z printer
-A computer with a wireless network card

Laptops usually have a wireless network card. Stationary computers
    usually not.

    1 BACKGROUND

B109n-z has four ways to communicate with others:
    (1) there are buttons and a small screen on his forehead.
    (2) it can print and scan pages
    (3) there is a USB connection
    (4) it has wireless capabilities.

We will use (1), (2) and (4) to set a static IP address.

    2 BUTTONS AND DISPLAY

If you're reading this, chances are that you tried to install the B109n-z and that
the installation failed. The installation may have left the B109n-z partially
set up, so the first step is to bring the B109n-z to its initial settings.

On the front of the B109n-z there is a small screen. To the left of the
It is a column of three buttons. To the right of the screen, it
is a column in addition to three buttons.

In fact, the buttons are just touching sensitive areas next to the screen. Each
button's background light that the printer can turn on and off. During the
light behind a button is disabled, the button is invisible.

The buttons in the left column are labeled with an arrow to the rear, an 'X' and
a symbol "OK." The buttons on the right hand column are all labelled with dashes.
To the market, the screen displays something like this:
    Scan
    Photo
    Copy

The background light of all three buttons in the right-hand column are on. Now press
the button to the right of "Scan", i.e. the highest button in the right column.
Now, the screen displays something like this:
    Wireless menu
    The scan to PC
    Scan to memory card

Now, press the button to the left of the menu "wireless" to get this:
    Turn off wireless
    Wireless configuration
    WPS

This option enables the radio into the printer. The screen comes down to this:
    Turn off wireless
    Wireless configuration
    WPS

Now press the button next to "Wireless Setup", then press
the lower right button until something like 'restore wireless settings' is
selected. Then press 'OK' (the button at the bottom left) and answer 'Yes' to 'are '.
"ensure that" issues. Now, it comes down to this:
    Enable wireless
    Wireless configuration
    WPS

Finally, if the wireless radio is turned off, turn on the radio wireless with the help of the
    button at the top right.

Now, the radio of the printer is on, the printer has an IP address of 0.0.0.0, as well as the
printer Wireless Announces that he runs a computer-to-computer wireless
(ad hoc) network without security. The SSID of the network is "hpsetup".

    3. CONNECT TO THE PRINTER, STEP 1

Now, you need a computer with a wireless interface card. Ensure that the computer is
on. If the computer runs windows, ask for a list of available wireless
networks. If she runs something else, do something similar.

In the list of available wireless networks, you should find a named
"hpsetup". Connect you to it. Ignore the warning that the network "hpsetup" is
    situation of insecurity.

If there is more than one network named "hpsetup", one of them will be your
printer and the others can be printers in your neighborhood. Those of other
could also be the work of airborne viruses that have infected your neighbors
    computer.

    4. PRINTING CONFIGURATION

If you followed the instructions above, the display will show this:
    Enable wireless
    Wireless configuration
    WPS

Select "Wireless configuration", let "print the network configuration page.
selected, then press OK. The printer now prints a page that says things like
    this:
    IP address: 169.254.95.189
    Subnet mask: 255.255.0.0

    5. CONNECTION TO THE PRINTER, STEP 2

Now assign the same subnet mask and IP address similar to laptop you such that:
    IP address: 169.254.95.190
    Subnet mask: 255.255.0.0

The operation of bitwise AND of IP address and subnet mask of the printer must be equal to the operator AND the IP address and mask subnet of the laptop.

You need to know how to set the IP address and mask of the subnet on your laptop. If you have struggling to survive on a network without a DHCP server. But if you need an update: go to the 'properties' of the network connection and choose the TCP/IP settings.

Now open a web browser such as Internet Explorer, Firefox or whatever and look for http://169.254.95.189

Now you can set up the printer using the web browser as an interface. To set a static IP address, do the following for example:

    -Click on the Networking tab
-Choose wireless along the left side
    -Choose the IPv4 tab
-Click on the manual button IP
    -Enter the desired IP address
-Enter your subnet mask (255.255.255.0 unless you know otherwise)
-Optionally enter an IP of the appropriate gateway (see INFRASTRUCTURE NETWORK below)
    -DNS leave empty
    -Click 'apply '.

When you click 'Apply' you of course lose the connection to the printer.

Now close the web browser, set IP address and the subnet of the laptop to what it was and try to connect to the printer using any IP you assigned.

    6. CHANGE NETWORK INFRASTRUCTURE

If you want to change an ad hoc connection to aid in making a
network infrastructure, you need a wireless router. Ensure that the
The gateway of the printer IP is the IP address of the router in Section 5 above.

You can now install the software on the CD supplied with the printer. If you have previously installed the printer simply to connect a USB printer,
the USB cable, insert the CD and reconfigure to wireless technology.

During the reconfiguration, you will be asked which network to use. Select your
own network (that of the router to use). Do not select the
    ad - hoc hpsetup network.

Last week I bought a new printer, photosmart B109n-z, installed wireless on my PC and installed with the USB on my desk. All good works, earlier, I often lose my internet connection on my deskto. Have to unplug/plug the internet cable again in the assessment and to reset the router, then works again... But before the installation of the printer I never lost connection with the internet. Is there a solution for this? With the laptop, no problems...

(router: US Robotics; operating system: Windows xp sp 3)

OK, the US Robotics router is a DSL modem/router?  What is your or your ISP?

We will set an IP address of the printer:

-Print a the front of the printer Network Setup Page. Note the IP address of the printer.
-Enter the IP address in a browser to reveal the internal settings of the printer.
-Choose the network tab, then wireless along the left side, then on the IPv4 tab.
-On this screen, you want to set a manual IP address. You must assign an IP address outside the range that the router sets automatically (called the DHCP range). Yours is 192.168.1.100 a.199 we will use 192.168.1.220
-Apply the subnet 255.255.255.0 (unless you know it's different, if so, use it)
-Let the gateway and DNS white.

    -Click 'apply '.

Now, stop the router and printer, start the router, wait, and then start printing.

After that, you will have to redo 'Add printer' using the new IP address.

  • E3200 and wireless MAC filter will not accept the recent MAC formats

When I go on the web interface for my Linksys E3200, Wireless > Wireless MAC Filter and try to add the MAC to my new laptop computer to work, the user interface returns an error which is the MAC address in the wrong format. I have triple checked the address and I tried adding several times without success.

Looking at the address, I'm guessing that the beach is not what the user interface has been programmed to accept because it starts at a much higher range. The first 3 bytes of the MAC address is: 1 c: 3E:84:xx:xx:xx

My wireless router is E3200 with Firmware Version: 1.0.04)is

Is there any place on the site Web of Linksys I can drop a ticket?

Never thought it would be a browser problem. I'll have to keep that in mind.

The computer I was access to the admin of the router UI wasn't in the wireless MAC filter - highlights the filtering MAC wireless had a list of authorized Mac not refused.

I think that the problem was because I have 6rd IPv6 configured. Some time after the validation, I needed to update the PPPoE password and got the same error. Disabling (cancellation of the configuration) IPv6 6 Dr allowed me to update the PPPoE password successfully. I've not yet returned and re-activated the MAC filter.

    Thanks for the suggestions!

Reset password on photosmart more B210A-Mac. How are you?

    Good,

If you have changed the password for your wireless network and you must reconnect the printer to the network, is that OK?  If so, then restore the default settings is remove the printer from the network and allow to run the Wireless Setup Wizard again.  This will allow to connect to the network again, but with the new password that was setup.

  • Photosmart C4380 - wireless connection stops my wi fi connection

    Hello

I have a problem with my Photosmart C4380 wireless. In recent weeks, I have a new router from fi wi for internet connection. The problem starts if I want to print a document: if I connect to the printer my Internet stops. In addition, if the document to print is a picture it is all purple but I don't know if it's a question of color or if it is because the problem of connection. When I put the memory card directly into the printer, I could see a picture printed even if had still some purple color in it.

Anyway, my first problem to resolve is the connection problem. How can I make two connections (PC to the printer) and PC to the router work together?

-Operating system: Vista Edition Home Premium - Service pack 2

-Wireless (PC to the printer) and PC to the router

-Do not get the error message. Just to lose internet connection

I hope you can help me because I don't really know what to do.

    Thank you in advance,

    Good bye

    Fabio

You said you have a connection Printer to PC and PC to Router. That is not how this printer should be connected. There are two types of home network connectivity No.1 Wired network is ethernet cable from printer to router. You should also have an ethernet connection from the router to the pc. In this type of connection the router is called the access point which enables communication wireless from a wireless capable device like a Laptop. The printer is now on a wired network No.2 Then there is purely wireless - no wires involved. By the way, a USB connection is not a wired connection. USB is independant and has nothing to do with home networking. As far as I know, this printer uses a usb cable for wireless installation only. While installing the printer select wireless and continue. The printer will not be found, click continue and you should be prompted to temporarily connect a USB cable. When device discovery is complete you will be prompted to remove the USB cable. Then the installation will test the wireless connection and that should complete the installation. I would suggest a complete uninstall using level 3 uninstall found on cd or download files Util\CCC\uninstall L_3, Do Not use L_4. This doc c01122127 found at HP.com has a video showing screen shots during the install process I have described above.

    Good Luck

  • Photosmart 6520: Wireless does not work for HP Photosmart 6520 on 5G, but works on 2.4

my all-in-one photosmart 6520 connects wireless network 2.4, but does not recognize nor can I manually get to recognize the 5 G wireless. I have 2.4 to print. This printer not 5 G is compatible? or is there a way to force it to recognize and work with 5G?

The Photosmart 6520 wireless works on 2.4 GHz channels, it does not support 5 GHz. If your router supports both it should be possible to set up to allow communication between the computer on the 5 GHz access point and the printer on the 2.4 GHz band.

I would try to print from other programs to check. Again, please try to print something just to see if the printer prints Notepad or Internet Explorer. If so, then we will know with certainty whether or not the problem is with Google Chrome.

I hope hear from you soon!
