I'm trying to convert a physical Windows 2008 std server in a virtual machine, using the vCenter Standalone Converter, but I always get an error to 96% of the conversion process. The error that I see on the "Log highliths" part of the window that says "error: an error during reconfiguration.» ".

I tried to convert the machine with vSphere Standalond converter from several machines (running just the customer, not the converter itself). I use version 5.0.0 build-470252 of the stand-alone converter and I am trying to host it on a 5.0.0 ESXi hypervisor 469512.

Any help would be really appreciated...

It took me almost a week, but the problem is finally solved!

In the meantime, I did several tests which I want to mention in order to help others.

I used a nice backup/cloning tool, called EaseUS ToDo Backup. Who created images of two readers, I have so been able to get back them in the VM to boot with the rescue disk (the CD iso file) EaseUS. Unfortunatelly even that did not help, because I was getting the message "BOOTMGR is missing" at the start of the system.

So I tried to restore these images to the bare metal on a HP DL380 server. It took several hours to complete that, comparing with the previous trial on the virtual environment, but when it finished I got the same problems. BOOTMGR missing.

On these two options, I tried to start with support for Windows Server 2008, but I couldn't "see" the disc. Also, it not there no other options repair that might help. I've tried everything. No luck with the Windows Server CD.

Then I tried to see if I can fix it from the command prompt using the DISKPART command. Unfortunately I could not fix again.

I was thinking about giving up, but I remembered my motto, that said 'Everything is possible', so I started to think about another way. I thought it might be a good idea to try to search for the problem that I see and not what I believe. I mean the problem started because the conversion went well, but the virtual machine was there. It was migrated into the virtual environment at the end, and finally he just was not able to start. Also, I restored "images" of the physical machine, created with another way, but I always got the same message. So it should not be the conversion itself, but something else that was causing the problem with the trunk.

After spending some time searching the web for a solution I found here: BOOTMGR is missing in Windows Server 2008 R2

Start with an image of the DVD Windows 7 x 64 Pro and try to automatically fix problems twice, gave me a c. bootable disk and an operating system of Windows 2008...

I hope that helps someone else who will be the face of similar problems with a migration/conversion which will give after an error "BOOTMGR is missing".

vCenter Converter 4.2, which came with vCenter 4.1 and 4.3 Standalone converter added support for Windows 2008 R2 and Windows 7 sources. See the release notes:

Windows 7 Local - error during Reconfiguration Converstion

I've been through the Google results for this question but that you have not found the magic bullet yet, so I figure it's time to let someone with experience look at my logs.
I have a pair of new laptops (Asus N53SN-SV1 - quad core i5 improved to 8 MB of RAM, Win 7 Home Premium). The goal is to install Ubuntu desktop on them Windows under Vmware Workstation 7.0. I use a converter standalone 4.3 installed on the machines being converted. Each attempt has so far resuled "FAILED: could not find the system volume, reconfiguration is not possible."
The disks are partitioned with OEM, System C: drive recovery partition and a vacuum for the most part D: partition. I told you the converter to convert only C:, which is marked as active and boot partition. There is no current mirroring I can say of the window settings. I tried to adjust the disk controller to IDE instead of the default "preserve the source." Win 7 don't use Boot.ini. Conversion for workstation necicitates that the number of processors virtual capped at 2 and the machine virtual RAM has been set at 2 GB. For fun, I tried to start the virtual machine that the converter created under my computer: Windows starts at startup then bluescreens, then on the next attempt complains that the Starter is broken (and cannot be repaired). Try to repair from the Windows CD that we will fail. Safe mode no longer works.
If I missed something, ask here.

I want to switch to Chrome, Firefox, but I have a problem with the synchronization feature.
It always displays the following error message: ' Sync has encountered an error during synchronization: unknown error. " Synchronize automatically retrying this action. »

I already tried this work around, but it did not work: remove my account from syncing, completely reset my Firefox profile, import my favorites of Chrome (using an HTML file), set up a new sync account (using the same e-mail address then that previously deleted).
But I still get the error message.

I saw in other threads that could be a problem with the story, so I also tried to delete, but it doesn't work anymore.

Hi, I started recently a problem with the sync on my desk. My partner Android and Mac laptop no problems when you attempt to synchronize, but office always gives the same error. I tried to disconnect from the desktop computer, erase all files, restart and then adding the Office to synchronize once more, but the error persists.

All bookmarks on the desktop disappeared, but are still in my sync data and have no problem being viewed on other connected devices. It also tells me that the issue is not the sync server and that there is something unique to the desktop machine.

I hope that this will not require a reinstall, but if all else fails, it's an option. I'll try to attach a log file once I put the question.

I think the error message is in the title of the thread:

Try creating a new profile as a test to check whether your profile is the source of the problems.

unknown error during the synchronization of large amount of bookmarks

I have thousands of bookmarks, but has not been able to sync. I always get the error message: ' Sync has encountered an error during synchronization: unknown error. " Synchronize automatically retrying this action. »

In order to solve the problem several times I reset the remote data, but always the same error after a retry.

I also export bookmarks and re-imported (which replaced the existing bookmarks). Still the same problem.

Any ideas how to fix?

Generally the bookmarks are not the majority of the data synchronized (story takes a big piece of storage).

Solution for Power Saver error during installation

Hmm you ve you have a problem with the Vista boot! :|

Usually, this message appears because the BIOS can not find a source of start-up as ODD or HARD drive and then try to boot from LAN.

Perhaps the BIOS can not find HARD drive due to a hardware problem.

Hmmm. First of all, you should try to change the boot order in the BIOS. Put the HARD drive as first boot device.
Save the settings and try to restart the laptop. If it is not possible to start the Windows Vista I guess that HARD drive is dead!

Have you tried to reinstall Windows Vista using the Toshiba Recovery CD? Check this box!

If all this procedures don't help I recommend you contact the ASP in your country.
The technician must check the laptop and if necessary, it should replace the HARD drive.
Your warranty is valid so that everything should be done for free.

Satellite P305D - different error during the startup sequence

Hi I have a constant problem I have no idea how fix it. I have Windows Vista Home premium loaded and it works very well when it is running. I can restart the laptop several times and it starts perfectly, if I turn it off for an hour or two and go to start it always happens with a different error during the startup sequence. Most of the time I just go to start Windows normally and it loads, other times I have to go to the ERD.

I uninstalled Vista and wipe the system well before reloading (using another drive) and the same thing happens. Would it be more likely to be hardware related? I know the battery charges well and I ran all the tools that Vista has to check the hard drive, so I don't know where to go next.

Any help would be appreciated.

Can you please post what errors you get during the boot process?

In my opinion it could be a hardware problem, because you have already tried to reinstall Vista, so I doubt that the error is software related.
Strange, but it might be a problem of RAM or HARD disk. The two parties, you can test it with Memtest86 and Drive Fitness Test. Google is your friend to find these two tools.

In the worst cases, you must go to an authorized service provider. Technicians can check the entire notebook.

I have a problem with my HP 6280 All in One Printer. There are a few problems and it's really annoying, I wonder if anyone can prove useful please?

I uninstalled the software and drivers for the Photosmart series C6200 of the site, and when re installation, the software starts uninstalling itself and gives the following message:

"Error - wstub 197370'

"Fatal error during Installation"

And then starts to uninstall the entire software package and then request to restart to uninstall complete.

Once restarted, the whole scenario goes in a loop that is the uninstall process? Very confusing indeed and have never experienced this kind of problem before!

Defective JavaScript and cannot be removed or reinstalled, get «fatal error during installation»

As a result of an error indicating that javascript has not been installed (Internet options/security/scripting is set correctly) I tried to remove the Javascript (before a new installation) but which have resulted in a message: fatal error during installation (probably installshield). I'm so stuck without Javascript and cannot update or delete it.

I have version 6 update 27 Javascript, Windows XP and Internet explorer 8
