  I took my laptop Acer in a shop repair to fix a broken power button and since then Windows 8 has been asking me to activate. I don't know how it happened as the repair guy was not supposed to make software changes and as far as I know he didn't.

  Have you contacted Dell for the product key?

  The product key sticker is usually stuck to the tower that provides to the customer of the OEM (Original equipment manufacturer).
