Error in the HARD drive test

Hello

I have run Long DST test and test HDD failed.

Failure of ID M4M5BW-6B879U-QFPK0K-61EC03

Product ID C5D27ES

The laptop is slow and HARD drive is slow. Can you tell me what is the problem?

Whenever the drive test hard short DST fails with 24 error Code numbers indicating that the hard drive has failed and that needs to be replaced to solve the problem

HP will offer a replacement HDD if the laptop warranty is Active, otherwise you can buy a SATA hard drive in a nearby retail store

Please make sure that you get at least equal as long as the original one in order to use recovery disks. If you need you can buy a bigger, but not smaller hard drive capacity. For example, if you have a 500 GB hard drive you can improve it to 750 GB hard drive, but not 320 GB hard drive

Please try the troubleshooting below indicated once the steps:

Step 01. Remove the battery and unplug the power adapter AC.

Step 02. Press and hold the power button for more than 30 seconds

Step 03. Plug the AC power adapter / (leave the battery for now)

Step 04. Press the power button and check if the unit is operating normally

If the steps listed above is not enough, then you can try reinstalling the hard disk on your laptop

If the problem persists again please Contact HP if your HP laptop is under warranty, HP could replace the hard drive and provide recovery media to restore the operating system to factory after the replacement (if you have not yet created recovery disks/USB support)

Note: Back up all personal data on an external drive if possible. Otherwise, you can connect the HDD defective via SATA USB adapter with another PC or a PC even after replacing the HARD drive & put in place of the operating system and try to copy / retrieve files.

Please be specific on what you mean by "far from many errors on the hard drive."  What kind of mistakes? Do you mean the drive read errors? Please quote the error message you get exact, verbatim.

How many mistakes is "too much"? How many times they do they happen? They occur only when doing certain things or anything?

If you really get a lot of the drive read errors, the drive is defective and must be replaced.

But if you're talking about freezing, slow, etc. This is another question entirely, and I wouldn't call it 'errors on the hard drive. The little info you provided the mind, it is difficult to know what this problem is, but one of the things these days plussusceptibles is malware infection. • HP mini 110 cannot use recovery discs - BIOS insists the hard drive test failed. Drive works on another computer.

My niece has a HP mini 110 that does not have a day. Do a check of the hard drive in the bios, it failed (7 on playback). I though I should get a new one so I ordered another. While waiting for that to happen, I had access to a usb SATA bridge and the opperating system was beyond repair and the unreadable disk from HP mini, I decided to try to repair the disk. So I reformatted the old disk using my desktop computer. Windows had no problem with the drive and it seems to work very well.

I also had to order the recovery disks (intro to windows 7).

In any case try to reinstall using the recovery via the DVD USB drive disks. It kept coming back with error 17 - I found a hard drive error. I also tried to install with a Windows XP installation disc and it was more explicit hard drive it said it had NOT installed it - or "it does not match the sheet material for unity" (or words to that effect)

To get the new hard drive - the same problem. Even if both of these drives operate as USB connected to my main desktop drives. SO my conclusion is that the BIOS start inspect the hard drive, check the configuration of the formatting. that is the size and the partitions etc. and when they do not correspond to the idea of BIOS of good care he rejects the hard drive and finds it is not installed.  Or maybe to do some files on the hard drive of base. Whatever it is, the bios concludes that there is no hard drive and will always return a "failed" to the hard drive of the bios test.

Any ideas on that? I need to know exactly which partitions are expected by the bios. Does anyone have these specs, or maybe you have a mini HP and can examine your hard disk and tell me the amounts of partition and the size?

Unless I can get the bios to recognize the hard drive, I don't see how I can reinstall the operating system on it. Any help is appreciated.

    Thank you

    HI David

Well, I hope this is my last post here. I had already printed a return address for the recovery disks, being returned to the Netherlands. Just for the beggar of cast iron, however, I decided to try just once more would like to think that now that there is a kind of operating system on the hard drive it might work. But unfortunately still; no joy.

All this time I would be considered may not be something wrong with the external hard drive because it was no problem to start the installation of XP. So I was just wondering maybe it does not receive enough power (it is a slimline portable DVD player that gets its power from a second usb) so I made a DVD player external adhock using an IDE hard drive enclosure (which has its own power supply and an old internal DVD burner I had put aside.

To my surprise and joy; the HP mini started the recovery process. I am now watching reformat the windows partition and copy the files needed to restore the hard disk.

So anyone with a similar problem to the HP mini not recognize the recovery disks is my advice; try an another external DVD drive, preferably one with its own supply of.

Thanks for all your help and patience David.

You will need to replace the hard drive with a new hard drive compatible. SSDS are also compatible with your laptop.  Source reference dm4 laptop maintenance & service guide

You will need the game of recovery disks or recovery media that you did after you set your laptop.  The recovery media to recover the operating system and applications provided with your laptop on a new hard drive.

  • How can I check all the errors on my hard drive?

I was awarded errors on my laptop which is running windows 7 that I might have an idea how to do to check and correct these errors. Thank you

    Hi Grandpa

Thanks for your posting in Microsoft Community

You can help solve some computer problems and improve the performance of your computer by making sure that your hard disk has no errors.

    1. Open the computer by clicking on the button start , and then clicking computer.

    2. Right click on the hard drive you want to check, and then click Properties.

    3. Click on the Tools tab and then, under error-checking, click check now. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

To automatically repair problems with files and folders that the scan detects, select automatically fix file system errors. Otherwise, the disk check will simply report a problem, but not to fix them.

To perform a full disk check, select search and attempt to recover bad sectors. This scan is trying to find and repair physical errors on the hard drive itself, and it may take much longer to complete.

To check for errors file and the physical errors, select both automatically fix errors in file system and search for and attempt recovery of bad sectors.

    4. Click Start.

Depending on the size of your hard disk, this may take several minutes. For best results, do not use your computer for any other tasks while it checks errors.

  • hard drive test failure

Hello, I receive the text next message when I swtich the laptop on:

"SMART hard drive control has detected an imminent failure. To ensure no loss of data, please save the content immediately and run Diagnostics in the Testin hard drive system.

    "Hard disk 1 (301).

When I run the hard drive test in the diagnostic system, this appears:

    "Road test: 1."

    HDD SMART Check: FAILURE

    FAILURE ID: PTR04C-6LD763-MFPWWJ-60VF03

    "Test drive: FAILED.

When I start the laptop works fine, internet and all other devices work, scanning local disk C: and D: Recovery detects any errors. I tried to update it, but the message still appears.

I wonder what may be the problem, any suggestions?

The laptop never gave me a prblem to date, I bought it a year ago, last week I had to change the DVD player, which was the only change I had to make. After that, I started to have problems with him, like blue screens, indicating "Critical process is dead" and "kernel data page mistakenly".

I also CD/DVD given to me at the time of the purchase, which I think are necessary for backup and recovery, but I don't know how they actually work.

    Thank you.

    Hello

Browse the following documents carefully & follow him.

Test a HDD in BIOS ; Laptops HP - how to run the hard drive Test

    Hard disk failure errors

Test the hard drive by using SMART

Normally the HP disk HARD Selft Test works well, but the information stored in S.M.A.R.T indicates that your HARD drive will fail.

It seems the automatic test crashes if there is a bad sector that has not yet been remapped. If you back up all your data before performing a full format on the disc it will fix the problem (assuming it's the same problem I had). In the meantime, I would check what are the SMART test results... you may have a faulty hard drive. (one or two bad sectors are not as bad as HP are affected because these will be remapped as soon as a write is attempted on them).

If it gets corrupted, go for another one again.

First of all trying to read the above documents and try to do it again.

  • Whistle sound from the hard drive

I have a HP Pavilion laptop dv6, and recently, when I did a hard drive error checking, the hard drive has begun to produce a similar whistle sound. Additionally, the error checking was insensitive. So I had no option, but turn off the laptop directly. After turning on, it showed that I had to install an operating system! I turned off again, and then later, it works. This time, he's walking normally. But I would like to know if all precautions should be taken, since the noise coming from the laptop earlier worries me. I would like if this is normal or dangerous.

    Akhil

    Hi Akhil,

The problem may occur if the hard disk is not connected correctly. I suggest you make sure that everything is connected and working properly. You can also see the article for the diagnosis of the hardware:

  • replace the 1rent hard drive test item

I have a laptop Compaq CQ50-139WM.  Unfortunately, I don't have back up discs.  It wouldn't start so I drive some tests to F11.  "Replace the disk hard 1rent test item" is what happens when you test the disc hard self-test.  And thought?

If the hard drive needs to be replace I can retrieve the content.  The problem is only these last photos added to the top of the Tower from the last photos back.

    Thank you

    Hello

First of all, regarding the disk error message hard, it sounds like the drive has failed and you need to replace.

About your existing data, there are a few options, I would say.

    1. one possible way to try to recover your files from a disk non-boot is to follow the process described in the link below.  The CD of the Ubuntu operating system you create can launched from the CD alone (IE it doesn't have to be installed on the hard drive) and I've often found to successfully extract data even a hard failure.  When you created the CD, follow the instructions and see if you can save your existing files.

    http://www.howtogeek.com/HOWTO/Windows-Vista/use-Ubuntu-Live-CD-to-backup-files-from-your-dead-Windo...

2 another option would be to remove the drive HARD, place it in an external enclosure - is an example of the link below - connect to another PC and see if you can access your files.

External 2.5 HARD drive caddy ".

Run the hard drive HD diagnosis extended CD scan manufacturer to know with certainty the State of the reader.  If your brand has no bootable diagnostics in the link, use Seagate Seatools burned onto CD or SeaTools for a USB key .  Follow this with a full check disk command from the installation media kicked prompt know with absolute certainty the State of the reader.  If he repeated the errors after you run the two tests twice, I replace it or at least keep everything backed up in real time.

If by chance the drive past diagnosis then compares the steps you've done with the best possible Clean install Windows 10 in the link, you can do more if it varied too - especially if the partitions were not deleted during install.  If you do then I additonally run own Diskpart command command line of the punt media accessible to the first screen after startup by pressing SHIFT + F10 keys, or through the repair your computer on the second screen.
