    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/311504

For the second question, here are some suggestions:

Method 1: Uninstall & install Parallels tools

NOTE: we highly recommend you make a backup of the virtual machine before you continue.

    a. start your virtual machine and cancel the installation of Parallels Tools Wizard.

    b. Click Start--> Panel--> Add / Remove programs and remove the Parallels tools in the list of applications.

    c. restart Windows.

    d. install the Parallels tools by clicking on the Virtual Machine--> install the Parallels Tools.

    Method 2: Uninstall antivirus software

If the problem persists, try the following:

Temporarily uninstall all the antivirus software to the virtual machine and repeat steps of the "Uninstall & install Parallels Tools" section above.

Note: Don't forget to install the back antivirus software, once the problem is resolved.

Method 3: Uninstall, clean & install Parallels tools

Important: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. While restoring my Mini 1010NR with 8 GB SSD from the disk of XP SP3 operating system, everything fine until partially through the recovery an error message saying that it cannot find the i386\ASMS file.

I tried the options "install fresh copy" and "repair" and get this same error message in both directions.

I formatted the SDS with both regular and quick NTFS file system. My OSD software gives me the possibility of formatting of the SDS with fat? I have not tried. That I should?

I looked at the CD, and in the i386 subdirectory, I see a subdirectory called ASMS. I see several subdirectories in this directory.

I am booting from an external CD/DVD drive. This seems correct, as the installed much restoration program file until stopping in the message saying that it couldn't find the file ASMS.

This OSD provided with the computer when I bought it new at HP.

  • Windows error message "cannot find the Web site.

Whenever I have access to a Web site, I get this error message: "Windows cannot find (specific Web site).  Make sure you typed the name correctly and try again"

  • Windows error message "cannot find the file K:\$MFT or K:\System Volume Information.

Original title: Windows Error Message.  Cannot locate the file K:\$MFT

Periodically, I get an error message stating that Windows cannot locate the file K:\$MFT or K:\System Volume Information.   In this case my computer loses contact with K (my backup drive).  The only way I can get the command back up and running is to shut it down, restart windows and then reconnect the drive.  I have absolutely no idea where, why, or what this message is not irritating and a nuisance.  How can I stop this?

My problem is back and I guess that I does not after all.  It was suggested that more info on my system could help find answers.  I am running Windows XP. SP3.  My HD is 500 GB.  Intel Core 2 CPU.  6600 GHZ, 3 GB of Ram.

In addition the cannot locate the message file, it sometimes indicates that a "delayed write failed" and I should save the K:\$MFT file also.

As far as I can tell, I have solved my problem.  Windows 'Restore' was trying to save my disk backup for future use, and I think it's whence came the message.  I changed the settings to restore now ignores my backup disk and the problem has not happened since.  I hope it's the end of it.

  • error message "cannot find the c:\windows\amopifat.dll.

Anyone know how I can restore this file and what it does?

    Thank you

    Doug

Looking for errors like this by doing a search on Google for the name of the file.  Usually, they turn up without success.  Search for amopifat.dll had no success.

When a search in no hits or suspicious hits result, the answer is usually that the file in question is linked to the malicious software and your anti-malware application has deleted or quarantined file, but left to the Windows registry entry that tries to start the malicious software when you start your computer.

First of all, download, install, update and run full scans with two of these free analytical tools:

    MalwareBytes AntiMalware
    SUPERAntiSpyware

Do not run the scans at the same time.  They can take some time, so start an and then go for a non computer chore for awhile.

If the scans does not solve the problem (and they can't, because the actual malware file has already been processed), then download and run Autoruns.  Click on the "Connection" tab and look in the column 'Image path' for the dll named in your error message.  If it is not displayed in the connection tab, click the "all" tab and use the file > search tool.  A characteristic of the search of Autoruns tool is that you must move the selection under the element line "found" before you "Find Next."

Once you find the line with the file in question, either "delete" or (if you want to be safer) uncheck the box.  The latter prevents the line running, but you can reactivate it later by removing the check mark.

Since I tried Norton-specific registry, but the message still appears.

Don't do that again.  If no error has appeared after you run this tool, count you lucky.  Long MS MVP PA Bear:

  • Error message "Cannot find the point" when deleting a file

I'm deleting a file using two drag and drop for recycle bin and do a right-click with delete.  On several occasions, I get an error message "could not find the point".  I scanned by drive for errors, and it does not solve this problem.  Any ideas on how to get rid of this file?

For what it's worth, the item is in my favorites folder, and this is the URL for a web page.  I don't know if the extra fact is important or not.

    THX, David

What I did was to create a Notepad file that was empty and saved in the same location as the file that won't go away. Once registered. I click with the right button on the new file and rename the exact name as the file problem. Don't forget to change the file extension (ex: .doc)

    ex file problem: word.doc

    new file: word.doc

as long as they match eachother exactly you should see the file problem disappear and once that's gone, you can delete the new file created.

  • Whenever I start my computer I get an error message "" cannot find the file M3PLUGIN. "." DLL. How can I solve this. ___

This happened only after I deleted my temporary files, but does not see why this file would have been affected

The file is part of the malware MyWebSearch toolbar. Either you have uninstalled the malware program or your antivirus/antispyware program did. In all cases, a reference has been left in the boot file. You can remove the reference by managing your startup.

Because you had a piece of malware, the chances are too high you had others. It would be a good idea to scan. I recommend to download and install MalwareBytes' anti-malware (MBAM) from http://www.malwarebytes.org . The program is free. (There is a paid version, but you don't need to buy it to remove the malware).

    Manage startup:

(for XP) Start > run > msconfig [Enter]

This will open the System Configuration utility. Look under the Startup tab and find the likely culprit. Uncheck the box next to its name, apply and OK out. You don't need to restart immediately, but next time you do, you will get a dialog box saying that you have used the utility. Just check the box that says in effect, "don't mind to this subject again".

    Hi kenwgoff,

I suggest you put the computer to boot, to understand the program causing the problem.

Activate the clean boot, refer to step 1 in the link below:

Continue with the remaining steps to pin-point on the third party service.

Note: After find you the program that is causing the problem, you will have to perhaps to update or install a newer version of the program, if you rarely use that you should consider uninstalling the software.

Important: n ' forget not to put the computer to a normal startup follow step 7 in the link.
