  Try to do a system restore: click on start, all programs, accessories, System Tools, System Restore.  Then choose the restore point from when itunes tried to install.  If this does not work, let me know and I can give you another way to do it.

  I was dual booting Vista and XP, 32 bit and my printer worked fine.  I got a new computer for Christmas, Windows 7 64-bit, then my printer could not communicate with my computer.  I deleted my computer Lexmark and even had to enter in the registry: "Run" - "Regedit."  Under "HKEY_CURRENT_USER" delete everything that said Lexmark.  After the reboot, I was able to install Lexmark X 2600 software for Windows 7 64-bit.   You can fine the software here: http://www.siliconguide.com/drivers/device/182/.

  Now my problem is that the Lexmark Productivity Studio does not work.  The 64-bit had only a skeleton program for working with documents.  Will try to get by, but at least I can print now.

  Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I would strongly advise AGAINST doing the downgrade.

  Laptops contain especially of specialized equipment for which, for these features, drivers are needed - and these are ONLY from the OEM, in this case, HP. Your PC is preinstalled with Windows 10. If you delete or overwrite the original Win10 on your PC with Win 7, you will encounter serious problems as there are no HP Win7 drivers for new hardware that comes with new machines.
  
  MS provides drivers that provide only the basic features.  This means that the functionality of the material is likely to NOT work if you force a downgrade.  Which includes functions such as the touchpad, WiFi, switchable graphics, USB ports - to name the functions commonly reported here.
  
  If you want all the features of the machine, you must keep the original version of OS preinstalled.

  1. Insert the CD in the drive and then cancel Setup

  2. open my computer and click right then on the CD from the drive and select open

  3 open the Util folder

  4 open the CCC folder

  5. If you have an HP computer, run the L3uninstall.exe. If you have a computer not HP, run the L4uninstall.exe

  6. once the uninstall is complete, restart the computer

  6310 all-in-One (bought in 2007) worked ok on old PC Windows XP/SP3.

  I bought the new PC Windows 7.

  Installed the new driver, etc. downloaded from the HP web site on all new Windows 7 PC.

  Seems to be successful.  Configured for the FAX.

  It will copy.

  It will print.

  But will not scan.  It crashes.

  Seems to be waiting for the loop, waiting for hpiscnapp.exe

  Finally... After some uninstalling labor, s/w and 6310 has been reinstalled and

  now, everything seems to work.

  SOLVED ASU has not installed the authentic hp driver. It was download and install a generic driver. So I downloaded the full package manually on the apple support site and installed. Work very well. Works works, photo printing, scanning and fax. I also have the leverage of available ink.
