  I installed the whole EPM 11.1.1.3 on Windows x 64 platform. When I try to connect the server essbase through the Regional service console, I get the following error:
  
  Essbase Server: localhost com.essbase.eas.essbase.defs.ServerCommands.Connect December 28, 2010 17:39:08 IST
  Error: 1042006: error network [10061]: unable to connect to [localhost:1423].
  The customer has expired waiting to connect to Essbase Agent using the TCP/IP protocol.
  Check your network connections.
  Also, make sure that the values for server and port are correct
  
  I checked the CFG file, which shows the correct port as well. I can connect to the Administration of Essbase server located on the same machine, but do not know why I get this error message. Below I have pasted the contents of the CFG file, in case where someone wants to cross check it out.

  There is a clue in the error message and the CFG file you posted.

  The error message:
  ...
  Unable to connect to [localhost:1423].
  ...

  CFG file indicates:

  ...
  ; AGENTPORT 1423
  ...
  AGENTPORT 1424
  ...

  The port default (1423) is commented out and changed in 1424. Your EAS connection must use port 1424 and not default to 1423.

  Try to use "localhost:1424" (without the quotes) in the Essbase server field when you add the Essbase server to EAS.

  My company's system worked fine until June 1, 2011. Since then, they have upgraded the Hyperion x version to version 11.1.1.3. After the upgrade, they get an error.
  
  Context of the error: -.
  
  1 - are able to open a session on workspace and they are also able to run reports in small quantities and they get positive results
  2 - once, they try to run the report for the books, containing approximately between 160 and 180 reports, then they get under given error

Check your network connections. Make sure also that the values of server and port are correct]
  
  Procedure: -.
  
  1. I tested all hyperion services are running fine and able to connect to essbase using Excel Add-In
  2 - I checked all network configurations and port which are correctly entered
  3. registry changes following on all servers of financial reports and the Web of Financial Reporting, Essbase server servers and servers of planning.
  
  In regedit, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE: System: CurrentControlSet: Services: TCPIP: settings. If the settings keywasn t, it has created.
  
  1 added new value DWORD, TcpTimedWaitDelay. Do a right click and update the selected. Select decimal, value 30.

  A number of things:

  When you specify the size of the heap for a Java virtual machine, I usually set it to max amount only unless I have very specific knowledge on the performance impact to create a segment of memory minimum, then consider leaving out the Xms option. Also, don't forget your units (K, M, G) at the end of your values

  Your sentence is a bit difficult to understand about the PDF, but what I think that you might say, you can view the report in the workspace as html, but not in PDF? If this is the problem then you must take a look at the configuration of your PostScript engine (for example GhostScript) and look in the logs for errors.

  I agree with Dan.  It seems that you have a dimension attribute member in your POV and the size of the attribute's base in the grid.  Remove the size of the query attribute or remove the size of the application database.

  Hit a panic button little this morning, all of a sudden, I got the following error when recovering from essbase (11.1.2.4) using Smart View and go to the EA to connect to the database, I can not really do any operations on this database, the other application and its databases are very good.

  Essbase error (1006078): invalid block, illegal block type - header please restore backup

  I was wondering if I can get some tips for the reason and fix on that.

  Is it possible that your function @MEMBER returns never really what anyone. You assumed that it works, but maybe it never works and it is only when you add the cross-dimensional operator, the question becomes obvious.

  for example if this does not work:

  I'm not sure but maybe above returns something like #missing * (("Sales"->"Month1+"Sales"->"Month2"+"Sales"->"Month3")/3)

  With Lacrosse dim:

  Which I suppose would fail.

  You are certainly JPY exists in essbase application, go in eas and open the contour and check.
  There may be in the planning, but if it is not defined as a reporting currency, then there is in essbase.

  For business rules, I am using a macro that I declared a variable (VAR SS_Room_alloc);. When I do a validation on the Macro it validates without problem. When I go to run the commercial rule I get the error message 'cannot calculate. "Essbase Error (1012010): name of Variable Redeclare [SS_Room_alloc].
  
  You need to declare the variable (VAR SS_Room_alloc ;) in the rule of business or you put it in the macro using the variable? I've declared the variable and used in the calculations of the macro.
  
  Or y at - it known issues using the VAR command in macros?
  
  Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

  I don't understand this error with any other rule. I checked the solution provided in this link

  The reason why it works when you hard code and why it does not use when the UDA is simply that you should never have a multiple responses in a dimensional cross. Function @UDA returns multiple responses. Although in your case he brings only one I think it fires the calculation. Worse if you are actually bring multiple responses for @UDA that certainly isn't going to work.

  I understand all your corrections above the calcultion to recommend the best possible solution. But at least you understand why you get the error and you have difficulty

• Essbase error 1130001

  I'm trying to recover an ad hoc report and getting Essbase error 1130001. I did understand what is the cause of error but not able to find a solution for this. There is a sparse dimension "HP", which has total 823 members and 549 stored
  
  members. The top level of the dimension member is stored and the descendants of rememing are marked as dynamic Calc.
  
  (Name of the Dimension) HP (stored) (Gen 1)
  
  A_1000 (Dynamic Calc) (Descendant of HP) (Gen 2) (sign of Consolidation +)
  
  B_2000 (Dynamic Calc) (Descendant of CV) (Gen 2) (Consolidation sign ~)
  
  So, there is much more to his descendants to Gen 2 so until he starts at level 0. If I recover the spreadhseet to the "HP" Member, I am able to reteive it but if I Reteive to A_1000 I get this error Essbase. My guess is it is error of memory and is there a way I
  
  can get rid of this error by increased cache size dynamic calc? If yes what cache settings should I increase and by how much?
  
  All my users are assigned security to A_1000 and I can't assign security to "HP" because it is the dimension name itself would be to assign administrator rights to access this member in Hyperion planning.

  Can you not some members change dynamic calc to stored and aggregate the data, it should at least address the issues of memory.
