• Annex Essbase Studio to the Unix server - can previously enter us command in the Maxl Shell deploy?

  I have essbase studio, where cubes are deployed manually on a regular basis to the EAS. Now, we intend to automate it, and our Essbase Studio and Essbase sitting on UNIX. I know that we can call the 'startMAXL.sh' of UNIX shell, but I was wondering, if I automate that, I pre-home/pre-store can do the command deploy somewhere in the script that calls startMAXL.sh and runs this command?

  My new shell script is:

  When I run this script, it takes directly to the MAXL > tab and waits for the deploy command to enter. But instead, can he take the deploy command directly starting from somewhere and run it automatically?

  You can save the command deploy the Deployment Wizard (or create it manually), then in your shell script that calls startMaxL.sh to add the path and name of your file MaxL after him.

  I have tried to do a POC in Essbase studio and followed the method of "parent/child" for my hierarchy of accounts. When I do a preview in Essbase studio I see the sketch as expected (according to the table of the source). However, when I deploy the cube... it fails with an error.
  
  'M1' member name already in use
  
  M1 is the parent company and has 5 children. I see the above error message 5 times. Same problem happens with the dimension scenario that I've defined a similar Parent/child hierarchy.

  Looks like a couple of things
  1 have you thought to make the recursive among Member parents and children join in the minischma (right click, then save it?)
  2 do you have a column in the source that uses the rows are returned in the correct order? Did you apply this sorting in the child member of metadata?

  I have a question to drill at EBS, excuse me if my question is not clear, since it is the first time that I use and am not familiar with the EBS.
  
  Say that load us data in planning with ERPI. Now when a user explores through a cell in a data form:
  
  (1) taken for real log entries that make up the number in the form of data? I ask this question because in documentation, gl_je_lines is not listed as a table used by ERPI. So, if gl_je_lines is not available, what table?
  
  (2) percables region: I understand percables region is a colleciton of intersections that I have to the configuration - and drill holes in will be on these intersections only. Is this correct? If Yes, where can I get more information on how these actually set up? If it's in the documentation, it seemed to escape me.

  ERPi does not use the specified table - it connects you to the application of eBS. Literally, you leave the suite EPM and go to eBS. From there, drilling down to journal entries is managed by eBS - not ERPi. Make sense?

  You do not have to implement the percables regions, FDM does it automatically. Simply activate the load via the integration of the adapter settings.

  Drill thru report Essbase studio produced the below error: impossible to retrieve the drill to the result.
  
  Error in the select statement. Line = 2466.
  Error in the execution of the query. Check the query and try again.
  Cannot execute an SQL query
  ORA-01791: not a SELECTed expression
  
  No idea I'm able to test some of the dimensions, but this error is coming up for a few dimensiosns... I checked all the joins between the dimensions and facts... all right.

  I suggest to look at the logs to see if you can find the generated SQL statements or to rent the values being passed. then you can start to debug the issue

  It seems that you use a member called Level0 to the dimension of the responsibility to a value of 3510.8365.0000000 and to represent the child of Member having a value of 60100 etc..
  Remember that you will have to put in the CP_number before the name based on the table alias. So if Timeperiods resembles join TimePeriods cp_101 then your $ $ColumnValue$ $ is replaced by cp_101.Months and bets of $$ $$ColumnValue replaced by 'MS '.

  Make these changes, and then run the query using a sql tool

  Hi, I come back to Essbase world after several years of working with other platforms (specifically, Business Objects) and I'm trying to understand how the LCM with cubes designed with Essbase Studio 11.1.2.2.
  My client works with 3 atmospheres, Dev, pre and Production. So, when I draw a cube from a relational database in Essbase Studio this cube uses a dev environment relacional database and now is when my doubts, if I use the LCM to promote the cube of Dev to pre, how to change the connection uses the database relacional of pre-production to load and forest - through actions?

  ^ ^ ^ It's a little confusing, isn't? As far as I understand the role of EPMA, it is a way to share dimensions and common data between several products Oracle EMP including Planning, Essbase and HFM. In fact, I don't know if other products live in EPMA. What is EPMA not have is a great way to supply or manipulate the dimension and fact tables (or files). Oh, there are tables of the interface, but you will write the code/use the utility of dimension EPMA to load dimensions. I must say that I never tried to load through EPMA data so that someone else will have to pronounce on it. Once the dimensions are built, you can deploy Essbase (and other products) of common and specific to the database dimensions.

  Studio is the tool you will use to go against a data warehouse, or something terribly close a data warehouse to build Essbase databases. Just for Essbase - HFM, planning, etc. are not the targets of the Studio release.

  What gets confusion / intriguing, is that when EPMA deploy Essbase apps, it uses Studio under the covers to do. So the interesting implementations where people use Studio (which is much more flexible than EPMA because it is a development tool as opposed to a dimension/data management application) to read the tables, EPMA interface (and as far as I know, the EPMA base tables) and create Essbase applications like that.

  If you think that there is overlap, I agree with you, but you can see that they are not the same.

  And a really need Essbase Studio?

  ^ ^ ^ Do not use Studio to build Essbase databases. You can go hog wild in EAS with loading SQL rules if you want, even if at some point it will be probably easier and simpler to build in the Studio. Although the Studio has been mentioned as the replacement of EAS for awhile, I suspect the effort required to build a database in Studio will keep around for quite a while EAS or Studio Lite will be out. There is a lot to say (sometimes) for the incredible flexibility EAS/Essbase-Studio requires a more methodical approach and EPMA has a very formal set of standards and methods.

  Phew, I'm sorry, I wrote a book on this subject and I bet you get a lot of differences of opinion on that.

  If you are interested in the Studio, you could do well to take a copy of 'Look smarter than you are with Oracle Essbase Studio 11' of Glenn Schwartzberg. I don't get a penny from the sale while I was among the writers of copy (Hey, I got a mention in the acknowledgements). It's a good book and an excellent introduction to the tool.

  In the study of environmental impact, we have 2 catalogs metadata with a few fact tables where the detailed data is loaded.
  
  Currently, EIS is used only for drill holes in the reports using Essbase Addin.
  
  We are planning the migration to Essbase Studio.

  And yes the cubes must be deployed Studio for the flange through the work. you could update from planning and then redeploy Studio to create connections

  You would use Essbase Studio to manage the planning, it really has nothing to do with the planning and studio for pure Essbase databases.

  I created a user DB ESSTBC with the following user privileges

  CREATE SESSION, CREATE TABLE, CREATE TRIGGER, CREATE TYPE, CREATE VIEW

  This is my first attempt on the Essbase Studio, so I executed the following scripts as the user ESSTBC to create the TBC tables and load the data

  tbc_create_oracle. SQL

  tbc_sampledata. SQL

  I am able to connect with ESSTBC and select the tables all loaded and made sure the data is loaded correctly

  Then in the Studio of Essbase, I created a data source, which I can list all the tables in the schema ESSTBC in 'Data Source Navigator'. I also managed to create a Minischema by joining the tables SALES, SCENARIO, and MEASURES.

  However, in "Data Source Navigator" when I select "SCENARIO", right click and select "View Sample Data", I am able to pull data from the table. that is the table with all the names of columns grid but no data. No error messages were shown in "Messages to the Console.

  Back to Developer SQL and connect the same DB as ESSTBC, I have no problem do a "SELECT * SCRIPT;" and recover all the data of the table without a problem.

  I proceed creating dimensions elements then a hierarchy of "SCENARIO". But again when I try to get a glimpse of the hierarchy has got an empty tree. Apparently, there's something wrong,

  No matter what mark on what I missed?

  Problem solved. The cause being my stupidity ruin a access DB. I can see examples of data without changing anything in Essbase Studio after you change the DB user rights.

  • If I watch the server.properties for Studio (E:\Oracle\Middleware\EPMSystem11R1\products\Essbase\EssbaseStudio\Server\server.properties) file then it is empty, except a headerline saying enties here are used to override the settings?
  • I rerun the EPM system configurator, but that made no difference.

  Anyone have any idea that I could do to fix this?

  In 11.1.2.3 the server.properties moved into the registry:

  11.1.2.3 version, Essbase Studio following server properties are stored in the registry of Oracle Hyperion Shared Services:

  • Catalog.DB
