  All,

  We have been a customer of vSAN VMware 6.0 for the last 6 months of our environment entirely on servers of Cisco C240 M4SX with the Cisco 12 G SAS integrated Raid Controller.   Everything in the environment was working well until we started to bring in data warehouse loads in the environment and began to notice performance around latency of disk and most important issues still outstanding IO high.  After that ESXtop and ESXCFG examination we found that the length of the queue announced to the adapter ESXi has been only 234 however the VMware HCL Announces 895; 234 is below minimum spec of 256 to correctly implement vSAN.  We have worked diligently with VMware on it to try different versions certified and non certified driver async for this raid controller in addition to the most recent firmware for the raid controller.  Regardless of the change of the depth of the queue remained 234.  The presence of FBWC affect the depth of queue announced to the operating system?  VMware support has indicated that it is clearly a problem "hardware".  Any ideas as to what may be causing this?

  Had the chance to spend some time in the laboratory and removed the cache module.

  After that, I now get "207", so I would say it's confirmed that 1,2,4 GB cache modules are used to increase the depth/length of the queue for these controllers.

  I installed the last VIB for 2 m from NVIDIA (304.76) GRID, and it installs without problem:

  Of course, I have it works very well, but with a Quadro2k and a Quadro4k.

  Take a look in this whitepaper for instructions, be aware that it is not fully supported yet and you might have to tinker a bit to make it work.

  I think that MMIC does nothing with your ESXi installation... it is OoB management for servers of the UCS.

  Check your config MMIC inside the BIOS again.

  Cisco and other hardware providers offer ESXi images customized to support their equipment. However, the customization is made by adding/replacement drivers and tools. The base is still the same original VMware image. There is no specific license provider.

• ESXi 5.1 update 1 crashing randomly with Exception 14 purple #PF screen

  We have occasional crashes on our VMware ESXi 5.1 hosts update 1.

  The host will break and then all the vm is turned on on the hosts of the survivors

  Hi guys, we have received information of VMware this morning just to update everyone.

  The cause of our accident is limiting the flow of port groups. He has been identified in our crash and newspapers with the debug version of ESXi running.

  The fix will be included in the following updates:

  ESXi 5.1 Patch 04 - should be available by the end of April 2014.

  ESXi 5.5 Patch 02 - should be available by the end of June 2014.

  
  

  In the meantime the work around is to disable the limitation of the flow on port-groups
  

• Help, please!  Configuration of ESXi to get Cisco Surv. Multimedia for work software.

  Quick overview of what I do:

  I am running VMWare ESXi on a Dell Poweredge R710 server.  My virtual machine is Linux SuSE 10, Service Pack 1, the recommended Cisco media platform video software Surveuillance.  .  I try to get my Cisco software to run on the computer, but it requires an IP address from a remote location to access the software.  My IP address that I attributed to VMware is assigned, but when I use the same address and have the x.x.x.x/cisco.vsm.html there is a conflict with the original address assigned to the address that is using VMware to access the server itself.  I'm a newbie and it's all very confusing to me, so I apprecaite little help.

  Is this a problem IP routing or a problem of port assignment?  The Cisco software is supposed to load when I type http:/x.x.x.x/vsms.html in a browser window on the same network.

  Any suggestions?  I did research this for days trying to figure out how to get a simple program to work.

  Try the URL localhost directly on SuSE http://127.0.0.1/vsmc.html machine if that gets refused then you have configuration problems in the software.

  Hi, I'm having a little trouble to create a trunk to a crowd of v4.1 ESXi.

  ESXi side VLAN ID has been set to all (4095) - side switch and host configurations is passed to the host of vCentre.

  Defining the interface of switching on an access on VLAN100 port, the host will stand fine. Problem is that I need another network to be consulted (VLAN300)

  For me, looks like the vmkernel interface used for the management network is not be marked, as the host responds when you define the physical switch as an access port port in the VLAN 100. So either mark the vmkernel with VLAN ID 100 port or VLAN 100 native VLAN on the switchport physical... (switchport trunk vlan 100 native)

  I just brought a new laptop Satellite Pro C660-2JR and a few hours after getting it I noticed he has a purple cast/tint on any gray tones and is especially noticeable if a B & W image is seen because it has tones of purple, white and black with grey wire no real!

• Purple reading screen "he's dead, Jim."

  I have twice been signing my laptop Dell Inspiron 1710 with Windows 7 Professional, and when a purple reading "he's dead jim" screen for just a millisecond.  It scared me out of my socks.

  Anyone know what it is? What is it associated with?  Who/what/why it happens?  I immediately ran my articles to spy, my anti-virus, my anti-malware, etc. and silently thank my lucky stars that I backed everything up.
  I find a lot of references to purple screens and "he's dead, jim" (apparently from Star Trek), even within the same reference, but nothing that tells me that all more than just that.

Have tried various bios without success, including a reset settings to default values (and then only allowing virtualization of intel).  Especially I was wondering if someone else has installed ESXi on this Board sucessfully, or if I'm wasting my time.

  The question that you see is very probably due to ACPI incompatibility where the Setup program does not recognize the keyboard properly. If you have a keyboard USB, unplug / plug it at this stage. This usually allows.
