ESXi does not recognize my virtual disks

I have a new server Dell Tower I'm installing ESXi 4.0 on. I used a hardware RAID card integrated with Raid 1 configured for 2 to 500 GB HD, but when I boot to my ESXi4.0 installation disc it wonder who my hard physics leads to install on... meaning he sees none of my VDisks (3) configured

any thoughts?

Thank you, DH

What model of controller RAID do you have?  What is HCL?  Sounds like you have a software RAID controller (alias: fake RAID.)  Many software RAID controller behaves like your place of observation; ESX cannot use the players individually.

  • Windows 2003 x 64 R2 ISO does not recognize the virtual disk

I managed to try to install a VM guest with w2k3 x 64 R2 ISO.  All the research that I did, ISO should have the 64-bit LSI SAS driver in the HCL.  When installing, I get "the installation program can't find not all hard drives.  I tried to use the most recent vmscsi .flp 1.2.0.4 and received an error that the vmscsi.sys is 64-bit capable not.  I am convinced that the LSI driver on my w2k3 x 64 R2 ISO cd is not compatible with controller LSI SAS of ESX 4.1.  There is a new download of the Microsoft Eopen site.

    Host Dell R710

    12 GB of ram

    2 x Quad Core Intel.

ESXi 4.1 (downloaded 12 hours ago)

I've got 3 VMs successful running, which is 2008 x 64 (which was installed without a hitch).

I guess the fix will be "slipstreaming" the correct 64 x driver for LSI SAS controller.  If you can point me in the right direction...  I would really appreciate it!

Also - Another strange thing that has is passed, then the creation of the virtual machine, I went into options and noticed he returned the base for 2008 x 64 statndard OS.  I had to change it back manually and click on apply.

As far as I know, the default controller for any edition of Windows 2003 is "LSI Logic", the "LSI Logic SAS" is the default value for Windows 2008. If you create a virtual Windows 2003 computer with the 'LSI Logic SAS' driver, you may need to add the driver during installation or inject it into the installation source. You can find the driver on http://www.lsi.com/storage_home/products_home/standard_product_ics/sas_ics/lsisas1068/index.html . You can also extract from the VMware Tools CD.

However, the easiest way is to use the 'LSI Logic' controller when you create the virtual machine.

  • S5-1060 casing dvd player does not recognize the Bluray disks after you restore windows 7

I have a s5-1060 casing with a HP DH12E3LH bluray player, recently the computer was so I took out the restore disks and just do a fresh install of windows 7, it works fine now, BUT the only thing I can't understand is why my bluray in unity player not to see, recognize or play blurays now.

The Device Manager shows the best drivers are already installed (21/06/2006 microsoft 6.1.7601.17514 driver), and he will play CD, DVD, just does not recognize a bluray disc.  I might say, we watched top of 25-30 movies on it so I 'hope' is not burned or something altogether.

It indicates that the device is working properly in Device Manager he calls it a cdrom drive (not sure if it matters), but with a bluray in the drive, it shows under properties / status / no media in the drive.

I'm not really sure where to start on this, drivers seem strange to be so old, is it a firmware I can update if so where can I get that info, I went to the hp site let it detect the computer saw the driver updated but nothing which was directly related to the cdrom drive.

Thanks for any help on this just stumped at this point, as it was working before the full restoration to the computer using the recovery disks, then there must be something simple.

    Hello FTLOSM,.

I understand that after making your computer your Blu - ray discs won't play in Windows 7. I'm you provide a document from HP support: solve the DVD and Blu-ray movie problems (Windows 7) that will guide you through the troubleshooting steps to resolve this problem. I would focus on the topic impossible to watch movies in Blu-ray 3D. I am also you provide the link to the Drivers of HP Pavilion Slimline s5-1060 desktop PC page.

I hope that I have answered your question to your satisfaction. Thanks for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • ESXi does not recognize the cd/dvd on HP DL380

I'm new to the hypervisor and really need some advice on a DL 380 I put up as a box QA. After installing ESXi 3.5, I created the virtual machine I need and proceeds to start a virtual machine, but was surprised to see that the server does not see the CD drive? I guess that would not as surprising, if it's a customized version white box, but a HP DL380, only one of the most common servers in the world?

Anyone has any advice or suggestions about what is a hotfix for this.

    Thank you

    Robert

In addition, once you can convert many of your applications and or OS installs in ISO format, you can just use your Infrastructure Manager client and connect an ISO to some VM you must have a 'CDROM' inserted in to.

For example, if you install Citrix and you have an ISO copy locally or on your network, you can simply start the virtual machine and then click 'connect/disconnect devices on CD' point to your ISO image. VMWare then moved the 'CD' for the virtual machine and it will be accessible as would a normal CDROM.

When you do that, your local CDROM in the ESX box really is not used for a lot more outside upgrades to ESX 3.5, and even what is done remotely today for ESX 4.

    Hope this helps

  • ESXi does not recognize the PCI network cards

    Good afternoon-

I am trying to add a few new ESXi hosts to my virtual machine environment and I want my NIC integrated with the PCI NICs for tolerance to failures of the team.  ESXi is not to see the PCI network cards.  I can't find a way on how to add them to the host.  Add network cards in VC shows just the cards integrated network, the same as the ESXi console (or what there is of it).  What I'm missing here?  Thanks in advance.

    Server = PowerEdge R710

Is what model of network interface cards?  You may need to install drivers for them - http://downloads.vmware.com/d/info/datacenter_downloads/vmware_vsphere_4/4#drivers_tools.

  • VM Windows does not recognize the additional disk allocation

I'm under Win XP Home in a virtual machine using Fusion v2.0.5 on a MacBook Pro (OS X 10.5.7).)  I had initially allocated 20 GB virtual machine, but now I need a little more space.  I stop the virtual machine, attributed to another 5 GB, and Fusion rebuilt the virtual machine.  I then started to Win XP, and it always reports 20 GB.  What gives?  I can see the VM files on the OS X side have been increased and merger indicates the size of the disc (25 GB) in its dialog box settings to the hard drive.  Any suggestions?

    Thank you

  • 5.1 ESXi does not recognize a RAID partition

    Hello

I try to install ESXi 5.1 on a machine with hardware RAID1 option.

However when the installer lists readers that I can install it on the system, he mentions both drives as if the RAID wasn't there at all. I did not say that it breaks RAID, since the installer then partitions the disk selected as seems it.

Is this a bug? I saw no other options that would allow me to reference the installer on a RAID configuration. As I said, it's a hardware RAID, powered by my motherboard ASUS Z77 - V LX (with an Intel chipset).

It is the first time I set up a virtual server - so please advise me what I am doing wrong.

    Thank you 1 million,

    Piotr

Your motherboard is not true hardware RAID functionality. It's a thing of fake-RAID of typical consumer that relies on specific drivers loaded in the BONE to pretend a RAID. See: https://ata.wiki.kernel.org/index.php/SATA_RAID_FAQ

  • family upgrade premium does not recognize my destination disk

I'm trying to upgrade Vista Home Basic to Home Premium.  When I get to the choice between a clean installation and upgrade, upgrade has been grayed out because of "not enough space on the installation target." and something you see is not the drive.  So, I'm going for the new installation (that I don't really want to do.)  Then Setup wants me to search for the driver because he can't find it.  So I navigate to C: (which is where I want to install scraping, 'my head') go to system32 etc and it is said that no driver is, so I'm going to where the driver is supported, same thing.  Now, according to Device Manager, my hard drive is generic and show the details of the car: disk.sys as pilot.  I have recently got rid of my eisa partition and now 31 MB unallocated space before my system partition.  So I don't know if this could be the culprit.
I don't know if something is damaged or what.  Ran, an analysis of the av and it came clean.  So, I'm out.  Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
