Hi all

I have an early version of ESXi 5.5 in a pole of development will does not, the process spend seems to be breaking with the next thing of last entry connected:

I think maybe a fix or a reconstruction could solve this, ideas?

Thanks Jim

Hello

can you please share more information about the deployment of your?

What is your question exactly in this case? Virtual machines are affected or is the entire network management based on?

You are able to establish a Session Shell?

  • ESXi 6.0 U1 host high CPU (climbing slowly) but VM idle

I have ESXi 6.0 Update 1 (Build 3029758) installed on new equipment (Atom C2750, 16 GB of RAM).

VM is Solaris 11.0 with 1 vCPU and 4 GB of RAM.  Solaris was installed from floor-11-1111-text - x 86 .iso without any additional configuration except to install VMware Tools.

After you start the VM the CPU host shows inactive (12 MHz), but he's slowly climbing 10% per day (240 MHz per day) until she reaches about 95%, while the virtual machine itself becomes unresponsive, however said ESXi virtual machine still works fine.  At each stage the VM reports always that it is inactive.  Restart the virtual machine makes the host CPU to idle (12 MHz) and the slow rise begins again.

In case anyone is wondering, I use Solaris 11.0 because we want to use ZFS with physical RDM to create a NAS for this virtual machine.  Unfortunately, Solaris 11.1 (and above) + physical RDM = purple ESXi screen (see Bug report: 11.1 Solaris + RDM = screen ESXi 5.1 violet).  Apparently, this problem was supposed to be fixed in ESXi 5.5 but still there in ESXi 6.0U1.  I tested (physical RDM + ESXi 6.0U1 + 11.1 Solaris) and (ESXi 6.0U1 11.3 Solaris + physical RDM).  The two combinations result in purple screen.

It is interesting however, Solaris 11.1 (and above) without physical RDMs does NOT suffer from the slow rise of above host CPU utilization.  So, either I cope with a rise in CPU host weird or purple screens :-(

In case anyone has the same problem, I solved this superuser.com class.

    http://superuser.com/questions/1024292/ESXi-6-0-U1-Solaris-11-0-VM-host-CPU-high-slowly-climbing-but-VM-idle

In summary, the root cause was a storm of interruption in my Solaris 11.0 VM due to an incompatibility between ESXi and Solaris 11.0 interrupt timing mode.  Add the following line to/etc/System on the Solaris VM solved the problem.

    Set pcplusmp:apic_timer_preferred_mode = 0x0

  • 6.0 ESXi hosts are no longer

    Hello world!

I have a problem with VMware ESXi 6.0.

I have a VMware Cluster with 3 6.0 ESXi host. Last night 2 ESXi host has become unresponsive. ESXi hosts concerned, responds to the ping, but unplug vCenter, unable to connect directly to the client host with vSphere and unresponsive on DCUI. The VMs - running concerned guests - became unresponsive (VMware HA cannot restart VMs, because the host has locked the VMs file). Only solution: reset the hosts. After hard reset hosts, HA restart VM on another host and host affected normal work. The problem occurd when high e / s (backup, at the level of the files inside the virtual machine) on HBA.

In the /var/log/vmkernel.log , I see a lot of messages both "crash":

    WARNING: lpfc: lpfc_sli_issue_abort:9956: 1:3169 Abort failed: Abort INP: data: x 0 xcd0 x 8 x 98

    The configuration of the hosts:

    Host type: IBM x 3850 X 5

VMware version: Lenovo ESXi 6.0 custom + VMware ESXi 6.0 Express Patch 2

CF: 2 * Emulex LightPulse FC SCSI 10.4.236.0 IBM 0494 42 8 GB 2-port PCIe FC HBA for System x Emulex firmware version: 2.02X11 version of the Emulex driver: 10.4.236.0 - 1OEM.600.0.0.2159203

The host firmware versions are later.

VMware installed on a USB stick (clean install, not upgraded), LOG dir on the CF data store.

The storage and the side FC switches have no error/warning message.

I see the VMware KB 2086025 and 2125904. In this KB article the symptoms are very similar to our situation, but our guests have the most recent version of the Emulex driver (KB articles: version prior to 10.2.340.18, our 10.4.236.0 version)

I tried the latest Emulex firmware (version: 10.6.126.0, install and reboot host) but the host crash again and the same newspaper as above.

Today a new problem, when I collect information on diagnosis (registers of export) of the host:

    • first of all welcome: unplug vCenter for seconds 3 times (State of heartbeat), and download of the newspaper failed, when the host disconnect, virtual machines (which run on this host) does not not on LAN
    • second host: connect download start, after the 10-minute purple screen:

    purple_screen.png

    I have found no solution.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks for your help!

Have you seen the question of host unresponse before 6.0 updated. If not, I suspect strongly this is due to "VMware KB: ESXi 6.0 the network connectivity is lost with the NETDEV WATCHDOG timeouts in the vmkernel.log". Try upgrading to the latest version 6.0 that contains the fix for this.

The purple screen could be a different product bug and I doubt that it does not always happen. Based on the screenshot, it looks like collection Journal (vm-support) was going through some of the nodes of the VSI and failed at this point. So this issue could happen specifically only during some invocation of vm-support. Good to raise a complaint with the help of VMware.

  • Locking ESXi 4.1 mode access confirmation no access to the vCenter Server

    Hello

ESXi 4.1.  I see options in conflict with access to a crowd that had lockdown normal mode activated via a server vCenter VM on a host in the cluster.  The vCenter server that sits on one of the hosts in the cluster lockeddown then became inaccessible or unresponsive connectivity wise.  So no connectivity between vCenter VM or VM vCenter and hosts.  Is someone can confirm if you can connect to this host lockedown by DCUI with root and disable lockdown configuration to allow the vSphere client to then connect to the host with root and troubleshoot the server vCenter VM?

I read in some messages that this is only possible if the vCenter VM is in place and the communication to the host.  I also read that it is possible no matter what the State of the vCenter server once Total lockdown (disabling DCUI) is not enabled.

I have this reference of the 'The new lock in ESXi 4.1 Mode' blog http://blogs.vmware.com/vsphere/2010/09/the-new-lockdown-mode-in-esxi-41.html

"With active locking Mode, the only direct access to the host that remains open is through the DCUI. This allows to perform administrative tasks limited outside vCenter Server, such as restarting the management agents and the display of the log files. In addition, you can also disable Mode of Lockdown since the DCUI. This can be useful if vCenter Server is down or unavailable, and you want to return to a direct management of the host. Normally, without locking Mode, any user to the Administrator role can open a session in the DCUI.  However, in lock Mode, the root password is necessary; no other user can connect.

    Can anyone confirm.

Any other person who may not be sure these questions, I can confirm that with root credentials, you can connect to the host directly and disable the lock mode regardless of the availability of vCenter.  Only if the Total lock mode turned on, or should I say DCUI is disabled, then you have no choice but to go through vCenter or reinstall and reconfigure the network.  VM would be always available if local or have to be reassembled and re inventoried etc.

  • ESXi 5 crucial question

I have 20 stand-alone ESXi 5 servers in vmware farm. For some reason any we did not put the cluster & SAN is not attached. all 20 esxi servers 5 have only their local storage. I am facing a lot of problem with them... as

    1 network connectivity lost

    2. the host disconnected

    3. the host is not responding

    4. the host does not

When these alerts triggered ESXi server would become gray and unresponsive. We are not able to connect the host for a while... but after a while... ESXi server turns green again and start working like nothing happened.

Could you please help me to understand the reason for this.

  • Network connection lost to ESXi 4.1

We have 2 guests ESXi 4.1 which randomly (about once a month), completely drop off the network.  All guests are inaccessible and the management network is not accessible.  Can not ping any IP address or log in no matter what.  When you access the console, everything looks OK.  Using the tools of the console, ping the network also fails.  After the restart, all is well until the next mistake.  The two boxes do not reach the same way.

Both are HP Proliant DL360p Gen8 servers.

I have some difficulty troubleshooting this as well as the points of VMWare documentation for log files that I can't on my system for troubleshooting.  I exported the vSphere client log files and all seems to be based on the last restart, is not much help.

Any help in diagnosing (or if you already know this problem) would be greatly appreciated.

I just find the article about it.

  • Non-responding ESXI

    Hello

Recently our esxi host stopped responding leaving a hard reboot needed. It's not so bad, but it would be nice to receive notifications about the esxi unresponsive instead of coming to work and being shouted at.

Y at - it software or anything that can keep an eye on the esxi and send reports by e-mail when it stops responding?

    See you soon.

Hello and welcome to the communities.

Do you have monitoring tools already in your environment? They might be usable for basic ping and connectivity tests, but if not check http://www.veeam.com/virtual-server-management-one-free.html?ad=menu and/or http://www.solarwinds.com/products/freetools/vm_monitor.aspx

  • ESXi Datastore update host for 30 minutes

Hey guys, I hope that someone here has a suggestion for this.

We have a host of ESXi 3.5 of Dell. It will run 2 virtual servers on two separate data stores. A data store becomes very low on free space (I'm coming to the low below 3 GB now). When I tried to update the data store to display the freespace, the virtual server AND the host server became unresponsive for about 20-30 minutes. After the 20-30 minute wait, they came online and will continue to work until I tried to update the data store, which then causes the State does more than 20-30 minutes.

If the virtual machines are available through the Vmware infrastructure client, we see VMS as usual. No sign of if crash/reboot during the State does not.

    Any ideas on that?

Someone ' one/everyone for any help thanks in advance!

    -Alistair

I would use VMware standalone converter http://vmware.com/go/converter to clone the virtual machine to the another data store. I would probably close the virtual machine in order to avoid running out of room. Miss is a very bad thing.

You have a BUNCH of stuff installed can be attributed to your problem. One that stands out particularly is CleanMyMac. He has a very bad reputation here to cause problems with the Mac otherwise in good health. It is often mentioned that his routines to "clean up" (neither of which is required) can be too enthusiastic and can remove critical system files.

The list of third-party stuff - that has the potential to destabilize your Mac - including SIMBL (a change of system, is really too long to solve the problems. BlackberryRIM stuff occurs also on here as potentially cause problems.

You may need to consider to make a backup complete and up-to-date (of preferably at least two copies) and then erase the HD, reinstall the OS and then just to restore your data.

Re-installing fresh copies of your third-party applications and only install applications that you really need. Always avoid the stuff that is 'clean', pushed, enhance, optimize, etc. your Mac. All a waste of time money. The Mac will look after itself without the need for third-party applications.

  • Repeatable Finder is unresponsive

I've been finding recently that finder will become unresponsive in strange ways. some of the ways this is manifested is that folder or files will become unselectable, or a file that is open will not close or a closed folder won't open etc.

I have a mac 2012 pro with OS 32 GB disk and 4 TB with data.

I make a stop and in the past this has disappeared for a while, but this week I stop and must be done within a period of one day.

    suggestions?

    Thank you

    May be a corrupt .plist.

Make a backup, preferably 2 backups on 2 separate drives.

Go to Finder and select your user folder. With this Finder window as the windshield, select Finder/display/display options for presenting or order - J.  When the display options opens, check "show the library folder. This should make your visible user library folder in your user folder.  Select the library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist.  Move the .plist on your desktop.

Relaunch the Finder by restarting the computer and test. If it works fine, delete the plist for the office.

If the same, return the .plist to where you have it since, by crushing the latest.

  • My phone I 6 more screen unresponsive? No cracks on the screen

Sometimes, my phone is unresponsive and sometimes it isn't. I tried restarting and have restarted the settings. Should I replace the screen? Help! Any advice would be appreciated

Try to perform a factory reset on the device, if you have not already. I recommend bringing it to an Apple Store and have them look at the device. Looks like it may be a hardware problem.

  • Responds very slowly. I get an error no longer - unresponsive Script / Message CAUSE: McAfee

In the last week or so, my Thunderbird account began to go very slowly and displays a message at the top - is unresponsive.
The program then hangs or I have to stop him going out.
It worked well for the first two months, but for some reason that it started his.
I'm not very computer and to my knowledge have not changed the settings on the computer.
I used Mozilla since Netscape has been abandoned and did not have this kind of problem before. Firefox seems to work very well.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a lot of McAfee antivirus

  • Firefox has becomes slow and unresponsive after that I tried to install the addons (not installed)?

I recently format my computer and reinstall windows 7, since it was the only way I know of to solve the problem with Firefox (I already had this problem too). I download the latest version of firefox 33.0.2 and install it. This version was super fast. But becomes slow and unresponsive when I tried to install the Add-ons. I visited the official site of firefox and searching for addons, when I tried to install addons, Firefox crashed. Therefore, it has becomes quite slow and cannot restore previous sessions. Even to type my email address, it takes more than 5 minutes and reacts more frequently (after typing each letter).
I want to know if this is due to some viruses, or this version of firefox is not "stable".

    Hey there,

We are sorry to hear that Firefox crashes. To better help you, please follow the steps below to provide us with crash IDs to help us learn more about your accident.

    1. Enter Subject: hangs in the Firefox address bar and press ENTER. A list of submitted Crash reports will appear, similar to the one shown below.
    2. Copy the 5 most recent report ID begins with bp - and then back to your forum question but that stick in the box of "Post a response. (Please do not take a screenshot of your plant, just copy and paste the ID image below is just an example of what your Firefox screen should look like)

Once you have done so, you could try the Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode that disables certain parameters, disables most Add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart Firefox Safe mode in the Help menu:

    • In Firefox 29,0 and above, click on the menu button

      click Help

then select restart with disabled modules.

    • In previous versions of Firefox, click on the Firefox button in the upper left of the Firefox window and click help (or click on help in the Menu bar, if you do not have a Firefox button) and click on restart with disabled modules.

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Mode safe mode as follows:

    • On Windows: Hold down the SHIFT key when you open the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
    • On Mac: Hold the option key during the startup of Firefox.
    • On Linux: Exit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox-safe-mode
(you may need to specify the installation path of Firefox for example/usr/lib/firefox)

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "start mode safe."

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to understand that one. Please follow the section Troubleshooting extensions, themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common Firefox problems to find the cause.

To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before you open Firefox for normal use again.

    I hope this helps!
