Example: Pavilion dv6: after starting the laptop it is showing a request for sgm.exe error crash

My computer starts up and I am able to work on it, but showing the sgm.exe error

Hello

Thanks for posting in the Forum from HP Support.

The error occurs because there is a problem with this application.

I did some research and I am unable to find such a program with this name that is popular and reputable.

Having said that, I also found some virus/malware that uses this name.

Search your computer for threats/viruses using these free tools:

  • Cannot start the laptop

Hi, I currently have a serious problem with my Pavilion g4 laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

Last night after I finish using my laptop, I closed the lid as I normally do and we both fell asleep.

But this morning when I opened it again, instead of start normally, I got this error: Oxc00000e9 and I was unable to start Windows. I had not any attached USB devices so I'm afraid it might be a problem with the hard drive.

I tried in Safe Mode, but after loading of the files it has stopped working and I was given a Startup Repair option.

After that the laptop has been blocked for a few minutes in a gray with slider Windows screen until the repair window appears. He work and asked me to reboot to see if it worked or not.

He took a little everything restart, the Windows loading icon came but then instead of booting the system I was sent again to a screen that looks like the Startup Repair, with the cursor above but nothing else.

He was blocked for half an hour on this screen, then this window will appear:

    Windows Script Host
    Script: X:/Rita-tool/Start.vbs
    Line: 93
    Tank: 14
Error: The system cannot find the specified file.
    Code: 80070002
    Source: (null)

    Then I got another window:
    HP restore
    Create file Fail

    A click on OK

    Got another window:
    HP Recovery Manager
    Contact HP customer care
Recovery not taken in charge to the title of the current configuration, please turn on the option for the Intel Smart Response Technology, and try again.

After that the laptop turns itself off.

I'm out of warranty of two months, but would like to know if there is anything I can try before you take it to a technician.

    Help, please!

    Thank you

  • I was somehow infected and after restarting the laptop, it goes to a white screen.

    Original title: Virus

I have an old HP Pavilion 2008. I was somehow infected and after restarting the laptop, it goes to a white screen. Not even the HP logo lights up. I can't access installation even though I know which key press.

I created a bootable windows DVD 7 and a USB port. I can not even boot from one of them. With the DVD, it sounds like it wants to read, but there is something else wrong.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If the HP logo comes and you can't access BIOS, the problem is more likely to be at a lower level. A failed HARD drive should not prevent you from access to the configuration.

Several things can cause the logo appears at the top (I write from a HP Pavillion 2008). I've dealt with many laptops such as yours and have seen many causes. Faulty RAM memory is a. A problem with the video chip is another. In fact several kinds of tokens (two bridges, video..). A virus is more unlikely but not impossible (if he messed with your BIOS, it is possible).

If you don't see movement in your DVD or HARD drive, something I'm leaning more towards the video chip. Especially if it's Nvidia or Radeon - it would be a miracle if you use an HP laptop of 9 years with a powerful video (so that there is time) without having had any problems with it until now (mine is Intel). They overheat easily.

What I would do in your case:

    1. remove the battery and unplug the unit. Give it 10 minutes and see what happens. Small chance, it would be useful, but it's easier to test.

    2. If you are reluctant to remove anything yourself proceed to 4. Otherwise, open the case and look for a reset (might want to read in the manual how to do it), remove the internal battery.

3 try to remove the first (try to run) then the other of your plates to RAM (assuming you have two). During the race, all the tests remove the drive HARD and DVD just to eliminate the possibility of interference. If you manage to get started and get the logo and enter BIOS start adding parts back one by one and you will find the faulty one.

    4. If it at a gas station. Now you can do anything, if you can not enter BIOS so it must be a hardware change.

  • Satellite P200-1AE (PSPBOE) - error Winpeshl.exe if I start the laptop

When try to start in safe mode or repair (F8), I get a window named winpeshl.exe and black screen.

    Help, please?

    Hello

Winpeshl.exe file seems to have something to do with the Windows PE (protected environment).

Here is an information on Windows PE (protected environment).
    http://en.Wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Preinstallation_Environment

Windows preinstallation environment (Windows PE) 2.0 is a minimal operating system Win32 with limited services, built on the Windows Vista kernel. It is used to prepare a computer for Windows installation, to copy images from a network file server disk and start the installation of Windows.
In my opinion, you should try to restart the operating system in safe mode.
After that the laptop has been turned on, press F8 and choose some options.

In the worst case, you might choose the first option called repair my computer and could start the Toshiba HDD recovery that would reinstall the whole OS.
But this would format the HARD drive and you will lose all files stored on the HARD drive.

  • Satellite A210 - 1 4 - failed to start the laptop computer just orange light

OK, so this is what happened:

While my friend was working on his laptop computer that she had his charger plugged but it did not load. I discovered that the lead from the Charger AC/DC had frayed and should resolidering. After that the laptop was working fine, I looked inside the laptop to check the AC plug connector before I fixed the cable.

I noticed that the WiFi card was broke, so I changed it to a WiFi card in my other laptop used. After back the laptop together and put the battery in, the lights on the front flash blue only and the power light stays orange as if the laptop is in stand-by mode. I can hear the hard drive turns and the CPU heats more CD-ROM drive works, but I can't start that the laptop just sits there with the Orange.

I tried out the CMOS battery, I took out the main battery and just used the AC/DC adapter, but the same thing happens.

    ANY IDEAS?

    Hello!

I'm not sure, but what happens if you remove the WiFi card you created in? The new card is may be defective or not compatible with the laptop.
You can start without WiFi card?

To me, it looks like a hardware problem and your laptop should be checked by a technician of the laptop. Maybe the motherboard needs to be replaced or something else

There is a bug that has this pop-up message in Outlook Express, the same when you're not using it, but I've never heard of what happens in Windows Mail.

This saint, especially as you don't use Winmail, it won't hurt a thing to click OK and accept the compaction. If the problem arises in the future, open WinMail and in tools | Options | Advanced | Maintenance, uncheck the box for compact the database on shutdown every xx runs.

  • HP pavilion dv6-6198sp: using the right charger for hp dv6? 90 or 120 w? Which one? Help!

Hi guys, currently im using a charger for my hp dv6-6153sa, but I need to cut this short story, so you'll understand.

First, I changed the motherboard in this laptop, the motherboard is the HP pavilion dv6-6198sp however, the battery is a HP dv6-6b60sa.

    The charger I use is a HP dv6-6153sa, which is a 90w charger. 19V 4. 74A

So am I right in thinking I would be better off using a 120 Watt charger?

Any advice would be much appreciated! Thank you

The specifications I've seen shows that a 120 Watt power adapter is required for both. So yes, you must use a power adapter 120 Watt.

    Hello

-Were there any changes made to the computer before the show?

-What is the brand and model of your computer?

I would suggest trying the following steps and check if it helps.

    Method 1:

To help resolve the error message, you can start Windows Vista or Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Please note: After troubleshooting, be sure to start your computer in normal mode by following step 7.

    Method 2:

I suggest you run Microsoft Safety Scanner to make sure that your computer is virus-free.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Safety Scanner WARNING: There could be a loss of data while performing an analysis using the Microsoft safety scanner to eliminate viruses as appropriate.

  • Blue Screen stop Codes, failed to start the laptop at all the

I have an Inspiron running XP Media Center edition.  Something strange happened last night where the power was interrupted during the closing down and the laptop has become something weird Media Center Genuine Advantage. I don't know what it was, I was half asleep at the time.

In any case, this morning, I can't start the laptop.  It brings me to a screen where I have the option of waiting for Windows to start, start Windows normally or start in safe mode.  None of these work.  They bring me straight to a blue screen with stop code: 0 x 00000024.  Then, in parentheses, there these: 0 x 00190203, Ox8651F288, 0xC000102, 0 x 000000000.

I searched a bit, and seems the only solution that I found the recovery utility, but I have a few questions about it.  One, I lose my data? Two, it says it's for advanced users, and I'm not an advanced user.  I'll be able to use it?  Three, you need a CD of the OS to run it, and I don't have a CD when I bought my Dell laptop.  I don't think I even offered to pay extra to get a copy (it was awhile I bought it).  Can I get a CD of the OS through Dell?  I know that you can burn a backup copy of Windows, but I only learned after the beginning of this problem.

Any other maybe solutions?  Thank you.

    Hi @Vishalwagh123,

Welcome to HP's Forums a great way to get help. It's a great place to find answers and advice! Thanks for the post.

I understand you have questions turn on/off the device and you must press the power button several times for him to start. I'll be happy to help you.

Please try these steps first. Perform a hard reset.

    • Steps to do:
    • Turn off the computer and unplug the charger. Then remove the battery.
    • Press and hold the power button on the unit for 15 seconds to carry out the static electrical charges inside the machine.
    • Replace the battery and the charger plug it back. Try to turn on the computer.

If it fires up immediately the issue is resolved. Otherwise, try to turn on the computer without the battery and check that it works immediately.

In your message, you said that it works very well with the charger. However, I need more clarity here to help you better.

It works immediately when the adapter is connected and the power button is pushed only once?

If you again press the power button several times, it may be a faulty power button, and you will need to contact the hotline at the service of the unit.

Let me know what happens when you try to turn on the unit without the charger?

Hope the problem is solved without hassle. Please keep me in the loop.

While trying to reinstall Windows 7 on my Dell Inspiron 1545 of the reinstall DVD after you have installed a hard drive again, I got this message: error message "the computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error" after starting the system on Windows 7 Recovery. Tried F10, SHIFT F10 and nothing happened. Then I tried a suggestion of virtual Agent to press F8 to get to advance Boot Options, but this option does not appear! Help!

For Dell cptrs, you will need to press F12 to access the unique Boot Order Menu(= a temporary setting), little after the Dell logo appears on the desktop. U hv only 5 seconds to do, b4 the cptr will automatically initialize to top with the internal HARD disk.

....... F12 is usually used to start the cptr since the DVD player or a plugged in USB-flash drive with a Win 7 install or recovery media.

To permanently change the boot order, you must similarly press F2 to access the full Boot configuration Menu. The default boot device is the internal HARD drive, but this can be changed to DVD player, USB, disk, network drive, etc. F2 is usually used to start the cptr of an external hard drive(= USB HDD) that contains a bootable Linux operating system.
