Explorer Windows crashing when browsing some folders.

Hi all. I use Windows 7 x 64 and I have a very annoying problem for some time. What I read on various sources, it is a common problem, but I found a permanent solution for it.
Windows Explorer crash (and I have to restart it) when I'm on some folders that have video files in their navigation. What happens at random, from what I've seen. If I turn off the "Show thumbnails" option in Folder Options, everything is fine, but I do like it.
I'm not really sure, but I think that this problem happened a few times when browsing folders with images too.

Is that what I can do except disabling the thumbnail option?

Thank you.

Hi, this means a video codec DLL is the cause of the crash. Have you installed a package of Code? If so, upgrade to the latest version or uninstall it completely.

The MpegSplitter.ax is a codec file. If you have recently downloaded/installed a codec pack (or a program which included this codec), uninstall it. A quick Google for "MpegSplitter.ax" brought a lot of links, but this one has very detailed troubleshooting steps:

  • Explore Windows crashes when using creative Cloud

I also encounter this problem after using creative cloud Packager, install the following applications.

    Bridge

    Acrobat

    Photoshop

    Illustrator

    InDesign

English (United States) as the language

    Windows 7 Pro x 64

When I run the package install, about 5 min in the install explorer.exe stops working (i.e. the desktop background and the icons have disappeared).

I don't get a crash of windows error, because explorer.exe broke down... as if it was not quite clear.

However, when I restore explorer.exe Taskmanager > new task > explorer.exe I see software installation, there are no errors, and software work.

something in this installation package is to kill explorer.exe.

Let me know if you have need for a newspaper or something.

    @bigdog3766 - my work around

    (1) wait for about 1-2 minutes of deployment, then ctrl + alt + delete when the icons disappear on your desktop

    (2) Taskmanager > new task > explorer.exe > ok - at this stage all the icons are back

    (3) computer > Add Remove Programs > uninstall Acrobat Pro

    (4) log on to the account of creative cloud on the computer, and then click on install for Acrobat Pro

Uninstallation of Acrobat pro is very fast, depending on your download speed, installation may take a little.

It is perhaps not a solution, but will work until the deployment tool is updated and the problem is solved.

    I hope this helps!

    Good luck.

  • Yoga Pro 3 with 10 Windows crashes when moved

A couple of weeks ago, I did a clean install of Windows 10, and it has worked smoothly since then.

The last day, Windows 10 has been freezing constantly. After som dig, I realized Windows froze when I moved the laptop (not to shut down or anything like that, just pick up my knees was enough). I tested my theory several times, and whenever I get the laptop to the surface it freezes.

It only happens in Windows, tried to launch the application of recovery (outside), and I can move the laptop freely without him never freeze.

    Clues?

Edit: oddly enough, this behavior occurs when the wireless card is enabled in the Device Manager. I can add that yesterday, after the system froze, the wifi adapter missing from Device Manager all together. Had to enable/disable in the BIOS to get it back.

Not sure if you are happy to hear my answer, but I'm done then try to restore the computer to its factory with Windows 8.1 configuration. Surprisingly, after restoring Windows 8.1, everything worked fine again. No gel, WiFi works fine, everything back to normal.

After that, I did a clean install of Windows 10, and it now works fine with Windows 10.

I guess a clean install of Windows 10 would do the trick as well, but I too far on the road that I considered as returned it for repairs. As it's a PC that I use for work, I had to wipe everything before sending it anyway, so I thought that the factory reset could do this job.

    Hi Shubham,

I imagine the inconvenience that you are experiencing. I'll certainly try and help you in the matter of fixing.

To help you to propose measures to solve the problem, I would appreciate if you could answer the following questions:

    1. Since when are you facing the issue?

    2. the problem occur only while trying to connect to the internet?

    3. do you have a security program installed on the computer?

    4. are you aware of any changes made to the computer before the show?

Search for the exact error message you get to do this in the Event Viewer:

Event Viewer is a tool that displays detailed information on the events important (for example, programs that don't start as expected or updates are downloaded automatically) on your computer. The event viewer can be useful when troubleshooting problems and errors with Windows and other programs.

You can run a full scan using the Microsoft Safety Scanner and check for infections.

  • Windows crashed when switching from Windows 10

    Original title: Windows 10

    This is my story, gang...

A few months ago my Office worked on Windows 7.  Then, the free update of Windows 10 has been offered.  So, I did the upgrade.

After a week or two, I decided that Windows 10 just wasn't for me and opted to return to Windows 7.  I followed the quick screens (to make the transition) and during the process, Windows "crashed" and mucked up throughout the system.  This glitch has left me WITHOUT Windows operating system, be it...

Oh and the kicker is, I had to replace the hard drive (in my desktop Dell) at least twice since I bought it.  There is therefore no way I can reinstall my old Windows 7 (because of problems product keys).  And believe me, I tried.  Having to buy a new copy of Windows is out of the question, at this time.

    Suggestions?  Everyone... ?

    Thanks for your time!

    Hello

Do not understand what you mean by PK issues.

    But your relocation options.

The only legal Windows 7 download available is now Microsoft, as Microsoft has stopped DigitalRiver Windows 7 ISO downloads.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-us/software-recovery

But Microsoft only provides these downloads for Windows 7 keys to selling product at retail, not preinstalled OEM product keys (Dell, HP, etc.).

As you have licensed preinstalled OEM (Dell, HP, etc.), contact the manufacturer of your computer to order recovery media that they need to provide for a fee, IF they still have them available.

Or you can also borrow the same exact retail edition DVD of Windows 7 and use your product key to reinstall.

    See you soon.

  • Windows Explorer crashes when you open folders that contain pictures.

From this point, I'm exasperated!  Whenever I try to open a folder containing images, windows Explorer crashes.

I did a thorough check of the spyware.  I jumped through hoops attempting to clean the cache thumb and no joy.

When it first started happening, I thought it was too many files in a folder.  That does not seem to resolve things for a while, but the problem is back.

There may be too much data in the folder or the display on the screen.  You have pictures instead of icons in these records?  Go to start / Control Panel / folder Options / view and check the box for display icons instead of thumbnails.  See if that solves the problem.

If this isn't the case, create a single image and save the file.  Create a folder in Windows Explorer and save the file to this folder.  Try to open this file.  You have the same problem or does it work?  If this works, there may be something true in what you said about the size of the files.  If she has the same problem, then you must do some serious troubleshooting to try to find the cause and fix.

I hope this helps. Keep me informed.

    Good luck!

  • Windows Explorer stops working when you view folders disk hard ext with videos

Please help with this question that I reinstalled vista windows 3 times so far and the problem persists.

When I view the files in certain folders of video vignettes of medium or large size, Explorer stops working and restarts. • 1: 0x80042318__2 system restore error: Windows Media Player 11 will not work open__3: Internet Explorer 8 crashes when opening.

I have these three questions of program after reinstallation of Windows Vista and tried (mostly unsuccessful) using Windows Easy Transfer to move and reinstall my programs and files. My computer had some problems before start, (it would be almost always gives me the blue screen at startup and go into Startup Repair). The Startup Repair wouldn't fix anything and just lose about 20 minutes of my time. Finally, he wouldn't even load at all and the Startup Repair did not help so I decided to reinstall Windows Vista. It worked perfectly until what stupidly, I decided to try and use Windows easy transfer if everything goes well "to" my programs this new copy of Windows Vista.

So now my questions are: Windows Media Player 11 does not open. I don't see a thumbnails of videos that would open with Windows Vista either. Oddly, although I can use Windows Media Center very well. I also installed Quicktime player and it seems to work perfectly.
It was not catastrophic but especially a gene. I use VLC player to manage most of my videos very well, but love using WMP before.

Second: I can't create restore points at all. Once I try, I get this error message:
"The restore point could not be created for the following reason:
An error was detected in the copy Service VSS (Volume Shadow). The problem occurred while trying to connect with the VSS writers. Please check the event system service and the VSS service are running and look for errors related to event logs. (Ox80042318) Please try again. »

Finally, for some reason any after the transfer, eventually after Internet Explorer automatically updated it will completely freeze when I open it. This is for me the prompt to open the session previously was crushed, and if I try that or close the dialog to open just the home page, it will freeze completely, even the blue circle next to the name of the tab to load.
Fortunately, I have Firefox and Google Chrome installed, both work very well.

Any help is greatly appreciated. I'm not entirely fretting on IE8 and WMP 11 but I feel really that less stressed if I know that I have a System Restore Point in case my previous numbers start to happen again.

Here are my system specs, in case that dans le cas ou c' est is somehow useful.

    Dell Studio 1535 laptop
Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit
    Service Pack 2 recently reinstalled
Intel Core 2 Duo 4 Ghz processor
    3 GB Ram
    4.0 Windows Experience Index/Rating

Big thanks in advance to anyone who can give a glimmer of assistance. I tried searching on these issues online and found no help. My next step is the Dell technical support (.. don't looking forward not to y).

Do you have these problems if you for testing purposes create a new user?

Other things you can try after trying the suggestions "Sreenkanth T" is to run the ChkDsk program.

Try running ChkDsk to check your drive for errors. Right click on your drive icon / properties / tools / error checking.  Try first by checking do not each box (that it will run in read-only mode) to see if it reports any problems file or hard drive.  If so, restart it by checking both boxes and restart to allow him to attempt to fix any problems found

Windows Easy Transfer moves not installed third-party programs on the whole, he does that move their settings, your files and settings Windows.

As you have just reinstalled Vista, where were your old programs and files (on which machine) when you used Windows Easy Transfer, you still have access to them?

You have to maybe do the reinstall once more but forget your settings and just manually copy all of your data?  This way you will give you restart with no old parameters of any other machine?

You can also consult the third-party program (costs a little money), but he can move everything, including the programs installed.
