  I have Win 7 SP1 64 bit Home Premium. Recently, four external drives are not recognized in Windows Explorer, but show in disk device manager &. They all work well and are recognized in another PC. I have tried different methods to solve the problem without success. I unplugged all the USB ports and the power supply for the discs off the PC. After a reboot, one by one, I turned on the readers and attached to their USB cable. Plug & Play worked well and I could open the files in the first drive. The player showed in disk management, the Manager of devices and Windows.  As soon as I installed the second disc, one disappeared from the Windows folder but remained in Mgt of disc and Device Manager. It's the same thing when I installed the readers of 2nd, 3rd and 4th... After the shutdown of the PC and turn it back on, none of the drives show in Windows, but has shown in managing disks and Device Manager.

  I also tried Mr. Fixit. I uninstalled all the USB controllers. I activated turn on AutoPlay. Nothing has solved the problem!   The HARD disk controller is part of the motherboard and if you want to repair it, so the entire motherboard must be replaced.
