External hard disk is NOT appear

My 2 TB WD Passport appear on my desktop. But when I open the Finder it is not. This causes many problems because I can target is no longer this drive when I save files or open files, or download files from that drive. I restarted my computer at least 3 times, verified and repaired the disk and still will not be displayed in the Finder. Help, please?

Have you checked the Finder preferences?

  • External hard disks do not appear in Windows Explorer

I have Win 7 SP1 64 bit Home Premium. Recently, four external drives are not recognized in Windows Explorer, but show in disk device manager &. They all work well and are recognized in another PC. I have tried different methods to solve the problem without success. I unplugged all the USB ports and the power supply for the discs off the PC. After a reboot, one by one, I turned on the readers and attached to their USB cable. Plug & Play worked well and I could open the files in the first drive. The player showed in disk management, the Manager of devices and Windows.  As soon as I installed the second disc, one disappeared from the Windows folder but remained in Mgt of disc and Device Manager. It's the same thing when I installed the readers of 2nd, 3rd and 4th... After the shutdown of the PC and turn it back on, none of the drives show in Windows, but has shown in managing disks and Device Manager.

I also tried Mr. Fixit. I uninstalled all the USB controllers. I activated turn on AutoPlay. Nothing has solved the problem! If she can be of any consequence or relevant to this problem, the internal drive in my PC now has been cloned from a smaller drive about a month ago. Any help to solve this frustrating problem would be greatly appreciated.

  • Drive external hard drive does not appear under "devices."

    Hello

I just updated my OS to Sierra of MacOS. I have connected my external hard drive (HDD) and it does not appear under "Devices" in my Finder window. It worked fine before the update.

I use a MacBook Pro (end of 2013), currently running MacOS Sierra (Version 10.12). My external HARD drive is a SeaGate Slim SL Media (500 GB).

The external HARD disk appears in disk utility application. He also appears on the about this Mac > system report > USB. I don't know what the problem is, the external HARD disk is identified but does not appear for use in the Finder window.

I read that it could possibly be in mode 'sleep' and putting the MacBook to sleep (while it is plugged into the external HARD drive) and it to wake up again should solve the problem. However, it did not work. No more restarting my MacBook. It was mentioned in another post that it may require extra power, so I attached power adapter and again, without success.

I do not want to clear the contents of the external HARD drive.

Is there a way to get my external HARD drive works as expected with my MacBook?

    Thank you much in advance.

    I also have this problem.

My camera is Macbook Pro 13 "retina 2015 and Seagate Backup more 1 TB (NTFS - Paragon NTFS)

    * Edit *.

My HDD show in report system > hardware > USB

but it does not show in Finder or Desktop.

    Hello

Spilled water on the keyboard. Laptop has stopped working.
Dried, but did not recognize the HDD start up and HDD does not Set - up.
Moved the HARD drive to another location of the HARD drive on the laptop and it appears at startup and boot OK.
Is there an easy way to find and repair the defective HARD drive slot?

    Thanks for any help.

    PK

    Hello

The HARD drive slot is not repairable. It s a HARD disk controller and I guess the HARD disk controller is dead.
The HARD disk controller is part of the motherboard and if you want to repair it, so the entire motherboard must be replaced.

New motherboard would cost a small fortune he of not good about market 350Euros
That's why I put t think it is s to replace the mobo only to get the HARD drive in the first location of work

    This is my personal opinion...

    Hi all
Please help me with my external hard drive connection for the new laptop with Win7 on it.
Password is disabled, but windows keep telling me it cannot recognize the device. Also, I have not found any drivers for win7.
    Thank you in advance!

    Hey,.

The external HARD drive is recognized in Windows disk management?
    -> http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB7101OB0006R01.htm

If the HARD drive is new, you must first format, and you must create a partition at least.

    Check it!

  • External hard disk is not recognized in my computer

My external Western Digital USB hard drive is not recognized in my computer.

I see it in Device Manager and computer management/disk management but not in my computer.

Update driver, a refreshed in disk management and several reboots.

The external hard drive is there but not recognized on my computer.

I need to restore from this external hard drive, but I can't access it.

most of the answers deals with reformatting... the original post says he wants recover from this drive to reformat does not help... the external usb drives, equipped with cables that have 2 ends of usb, connect the two in to; separated on the MB, separate usb hubs usb ports it is because power is causing problems (current rises to voltage drops) then sometimes access to the drive causes the voltage on a single falling down USB, think the os it's read-only / permission issues, with 2 connected to separate power sources the question goes... they were built that way...

I also recommend to never put a USB through a third party hub as more often which can cause problems with the unrecognized drive.

That said, yes I had to reformat to access a drive, if you cannot write to a disc rclick and observe the permissions, if you have formatted the drive on another pc and not changed the permissions for everyone, then under sercurity see you permissions set on a long number, it is because he is always set to original pc (or the id of this pc). Sometimes you can over the way these parameters by taking possession (in the s parameters) and reset to everyone on the local pc.

Something else I found on the disc is not recognized... Plug it into the usb port as described above and restart the pc, I got this job...

Note: I deal with almost all the avalible from different readers that my clients use them all.

  • 2nd partition on my external hard drive does not appear in windows 7

    Hello

I partitioned the standard hard drive of my system by partition magic. He managed. But this time my drive external hard was also plugged in the computer.

After you restart the system, I discovered that partition 1 my disk external drive of 500 GB is accessible but 2nd 500 GB partition is not displayed in my computer. In disk management it shows but have no details and no letter. I tried to rename the letter, but got an error on disk management.

I have seen other threads associated with this problem as using DISKPART or uninstall the driver but no help. Because after you have reinstalled the driver 1 partiton is visible but not another.

What should I do to access my 2nd partition?

    Hello Manu,

I found a temporary solution to this problem. I resized the partition unknown by reducing 1 GB

and he attributed the letter. It works fine now. But now that the partition of 1 GB is now displayed as unknown. My data was sure, my 2nd partition was not full.
