By trial and error, I found that (although not documented) a specific version of the TPFanControl (http://www.staff.uni-marburg.de/~schmitzr/tpfc.html) does not work with my laptop. Opt for the 0.62e version. It is a cool utility, has several conditions of default security in standard BIOS procedures if something is still wrong. Temperature to the fan speed mappings are user adjustible, so you must refine your laptop (default values are designed for Edge E520, so don't not necesserily ideal).
