File Pagefile.sys is more and more on Windows 2008R2

Hello

The virtual Center Server is currently a size to 40 GB with a virtual disk that is located on the SAN.  Is memory size to 4 GB currently.  The problem is that we have more disk space (currently 7 GB on drive C :) and I noticed that the pagefile.sys file is 10 GB last week and it is 11 GB this week so it is more.)   What is the method appropriate to deal with the size of this file and the situation - delete it, move, 8 GB memory, resize the disk, etc. ?   It resides on the Windows Server is Windows 2008 R2.

Thanks for the help!

Reezie

best practices say the size of your pagefile to 1 1/2 times the amount of RAM configured.  Having said that, let us Windows manage our page file.  As noted, if you go to the file, you don't have enough RAM assigned.  If it is a virtual machine, it is easy to increase the RAM, but also to expand on the C: drive.  You'll need to reboot for the assignment of the RAM, but not the increase in the C: drive.

I recommend leaving it alone and let windows decide for himself,

    Hi MarcSatz,

-Did you change on your computer before this problem?

This problem occurs when one or more of the following conditions are met:
    • The registry values that are associated with the file name extension are corrupted or missing values.
    • The computer is infected with a virus.

Here is an article that will guide you in the process of fixing the issue:

Important: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. • Cannot burn files to CD/DVD more? (Windows 7)

This problem is everywhere on the internet but I have yet to see a solution that is tailored for someone else to do a system restore that is not an option. I burned the files on my internal drive by dragging and dropping them in the folder to the blank disc, then click on burn. A few months ago I went through the process as usual (insert a blank disc, he asks what I want to do and I choose to burn cd, it opens the folder to the blank disc) but when I went to drag and drop the files in the folder to the blank disc, nothing happened. I dragged and when I released in fall, they do not appear in the burn list.

    (1) I tried to use Windows Media Player instead, and I couldn't also do drag or drop files in the burn list here.
    (2) I tried selecting the files, then click on burn instead of drag, and they still do not appear in the burn list.
    (3) I got our admin check user for burning strategies and burning has been activated. We disabled and then enabled again just in case and still no difference.
    (4) I have not download or install something new on the computer or bring other changes to this computer before what is happening and neither did my admin, there may be something that we did it. The only changes that the computer would be crossed before that happens are automatic updates of windows.
    (5) it is not the disks. It does not work with the same discs I have always used so I tried six different other, different brands, and the behavior is the same only they are all burned fine on other computers. It also does not matter if I am on CD or DVD.
    (6) it is not the drive. When my admin logged into his account on my computer, he was able to drag and drop and burn as usual it seems there is something to do with my profile specifically.
    Any suggestions?

  • The files show in the folder AND subfolder in Windows Explorer library

QUESTION: How can I configure this library so that are not files in subfolders in the folder next-level-up?

I created a library to a folder in one of our (security) Server readers.  There are several levels of subfolders in the folder 'security '.  It looks like this:

In any case, I store older versions of ESP in folder under the 'history of ESP.  The problem is that they also show in the folder next-level-up ("ESP").  I thought they were duplicate files, and when I removed them from the folder of the "ESP", they have been removed from the folder under the 'history of ESP.  To make things worse, they don't go in the trash, but it disappeared completely.

Libraries are the aggregation of search systems - it is intended to launch a search and returns the results of what it finds from this location and all the children locations.

What you want to do, you probably don't want to use a library.

My pagefile.sys has completely disappeared. This all started when the power failed and my computer crashed.

I was told when re-boots WinXP it creates the new file pagefile.sys and I should delete the pagefile.sys file may be corrupted on the C drive.
So I put the folders to show hidden files and delete pagefile.sys. I have re-set and tried to recover with no success.
There is now absolutely no pagefile.sys on my C drive. Anyone know how I can get back my pagefile.sys?
I want to get my virtual memory works again?
Thank you very much in advance!

I'd start first with the chkdsk/r.

Don't forget - if you have a factory installed recovery Partition, fixmbr will scan it as the Master Boot Record that written XP will equal not the MBR installed by the factory, so first run chkdsk /r (did I say that already)?

    Here are some instructions:

    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/SS/RCONSOLE.htm

Where people have no XP bootable media, here are my instructions:

If you have no XP bootable media (or aren't sure you have) create a bootable XP Recovery CD of Console and do not forget.

This is not the same as recovery disks that might have come with the acquisition of the system store.

You can make a bootable Recovery Console CD by downloading an ISO file and burn it to a CD.

The ISO bootable image file you need to download is called:

    xp_rec_con. ISO

    Download the ISO from here:

    http://www.mediafire.com/?ueyyzfymmig

Use a new CD and this simple and free program to burn your ISO file and create your bootable CD:

    http://www.ImgBurn.com/

When you install ImgBurn, DO NOT install the Ask toolbar.

Here are some instructions for ImgBurn:

    http://Forum.ImgBurn.com/index.php?showtopic=61

It would be a good idea to test your bootable CD on a computer running.

You may need to adjust the computer BIOS settings to use the CD-ROM drive as the first device to boot instead of the hard drive.  These adjustments are made before Windows tries to load.  If you miss it, you will need to restart the system again.

When you start on the CD, follow the instructions:

Press any key to boot from CD...

    Installing Windows... going to pronounce.

Press 'R' to enter the Recovery Console.

Select the installation that you want to access (usually 1: C:\WINDOWS)

You may be asked to enter the password (usually empty).

You should be in the folder C:\WINDOWS.  It's the same as the

C:\Windows folder that you see in Solution Explorer.

The Recovery Console allows base as file commands: copy, rename, replace, delete, chkdsk, fixboot, fixmbr, cd, etc.

For a list of the commands in the Recovery Console, type help at the prompt of commands or read on here XP Recovery Console:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/resources/documentation/Windows/XP/all/proddocs/en-us/recovery_console_cmds.mspx?mfr=true

A good idea before you start things must first verify the integrity of your file system by using the chkdsk command.

In the command prompt window, run the chkdsk command on the drive where Windows is installed to try to fix any problems on the afflicted player.

Running chkdsk is fine, even if he finds no problem.  It won't hurt anything to run it.

Assuming your boot drive is C, run the following command:

    CHKDSK C: /r

Let chkdsk finish to correct the problems, he could find.

It may take a long time for chkdsk complete or they seem to be "stuck".  Be patient.  If the HARD drive led blinks always, chkdsk is something.  Keep an eye on the amount of the percentage to be sure that it is still making progress.  It may even seem to go back sometime.

You must run chkdsk/r again until it finds no error to correct.

Remove the CD, and then type "exit" to exit the RC and restart the computer.

You have not to set the BIOS to boot the disk HARD since the CD won't be.

  • Pagefile.sys running on a faster drive

My drive C drive where Windows XP Professional is installed is slower than my USB: I have a 8 GB 2.0 USB where I can put in place the pagefile.sys: it worked very well in Windows 2000 Professional.

How do in Windows XP because it's a dynamic o/s?

Several points to keep in mind:

1 - USB is not faster than internal drives.

2 - Windows does not allow for the placement of the swap file on removable drives.

3 - stack USB drivers (who have a start value 0 x 3) are initialized well after that the Session Manager creates the pagefile.

To create a swap file on a USB drive you Windows trick him into believing that the USB key is a fixed drive and you need to change the USB stack drivers of start-service type zero in order to have the loading Ntldr then so that the kernel can initialize until the Session Manager creates the pagefile.  It is possible, OEMS who sell embedded devices put the USB in the basis of critical data from the device and as a fixed device list and they change battery USB service entrances for the drivers to be loaded until the Session Manager starts.

So, how did you manage to make this happen under Windows 2000?  It was on a desktop / laptop ordinary or was it on an embedded device or computer of type EEEpc?

  • Satellite A200-1DY - file iastor.sys damaged when installing XP

    Hello Toshiba users.

I bought a Satellite A200-1DY and I want to install Windows XP 32-bit. I used nLite to integrate controllers Manager storage, but when I boot the CD of Windows XP sudenlly it says that its corrupt iastor.sys (damaged in Spanish).

I wonder if its because only the file storage manager has two options the ICH7M and ICH8M and I don't know which to incorporate (I joined the ICH7M) or maybe the Windows XP that I use is the problem, but I tried diferent ones. Should I replace the file iastor.sys in the CD with the one I downloaded from the Toshibas Web page? If this is the case, where can I find this file on a Windows XP CD, I mean what dir?

If I'm not good as I say again once the problem is that the file iastor.sys is corrupted and it won't let me format my c drive to install Windows XP. Hope you can help me please, I would be very happy I'll be cheking the forum every day for today

    cyaa

    Hey Buddy,

Satellite A200-1DY is equipped with Intel ICH8M chipset so I think that s the problem because you only integrated drivers SATA ICH7M

You should try to create the disc using nLite and then include only files ICH8M.

You can download the Intel Storage Manager driver on the official website of Toshiba. It contains the correct and pre-tested driver for your model of laptop.

  • my c drive shows low disk space, so I searched for the program that holds more memory on drive c. I got to know that this pagefile.sys has 3 GB in the c drive

Hi, my c drive shows low disk space, so I searched for the program that holds more memory on the c drive. I came to know that pagefile.sys has 3 GB in the c drive, kindly guide me to move the pagefile.sys to another drive.

    Hi jafrin.michel,

Thanks for posting in the Microsoft community.

Before you start the troubleshooting steps, I need the information required.

What version of the windows operating system do you use?

    Method 1:

If you are using windows 7, I suggest to perform a disk cleanup and verify.

    Delete files using disk cleanup

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/delete-files-using-disk-cleanup

    Method 2:

If you want to move the pagefile.sys to another drive, follow the steps and check out them.

Follow these steps to move the pagefile.sys to C: drive on D: drive (if you have the drive D :).

1, write click on my computer and select Properties.

2, click on the Advanced tab.

3, click settings under performance menu.

4, click on the Advanced tab and click on change.

5, select letter (C :) and "BOLD" No pagefile then click on Set. )

6, if you want to configure pagefile.sys in, select drive D: drive letter D: and "BOLD" in the custom size or the size of the system managed , then click on Set. It displays a pop-up message click OK.

7, again click apply and OK OK.

8, the system you will be asked to reboot, click on Yes.

9, after rebooting the system, you can see the pagefile.sys will be moved to D:

Can in some cases use default values to restore or customize/customize options to bring things to the way they were. And, in some cases an extension or a plugin can cause changes. For more information look at

    I have windows 7

HI - are you familiar with the need to extract images from the compressed file? (Select, right click and select 'Extract all'...) PNG images are high quality images, but cannot be changed in the photo gallery... If you prefer you can open PNG images extracted using 'Paint', then click on "save under" (top left) and you will be able to save a jpeg copy.
