Finder in El Capitan

Hello

I've just upgraded to El Capitan. Previously in the Finder there is a folder on the left, under the blows of heart, for the photos. This has now disappeared and the only way to see my photos in Finder is under all my files, where they are scattered among all of the other files.

Does anyone know why this is, or how do I add a folder of images under Favorites in the Finder?

Thank you very much

Tom

Activate the pictures again folder in Finder preferences.

Click on the desktop to the Finder, then go to the main menu bar "Finder > Preferences. In the Finder preferences, click the tab of the sidebar and allow all the items you want to see in the sidebar.

  • Can't reboot iMac issues Finder in El Capitan

I had some problems with an iMac running El Capitan. The question seems to be Finder, specifically. I can't stop it. I tried to let it stop by itself from one day to the next without result.

Occasionally, I get this message: the screenshot below is Dutch but said something along the lines of:

Your Mac is off not because Finder could not be stopped. Please leave Finder to continue.

    I tried many things

    • I tried shutting it down with a hard reset (button / stop and a shutdown of the terminal command) and reboot.
    • I tried to drive in recovery mode repair,
    • I tried to reset the NVRAM.
    • I tried to stop Finder with the usual suspects: Force Quit, killall Finder .

The latter does something, but certainly not what I expect:

It seems that Finder left, is no longer in the list activity monitor. He raises with terminal command open . user's home folder gives the error:

    LSOpenURLsWithRole() failed with error -600...

It is reproducible in the sense that it always happens on an iMac. I don't know how to fix it. Any suggestions?

Outdated software for a Tablet Wacom can prevent the closing. If you no longer use the device, please remove the software. Otherwise, update the latest version of the Web site of the manufacturer.

After following the instructions on the removal link above, you may also need to open the users and groups in system preferences, select the login items tab and remove all Wacom related items. It is because the uninstall program is defective.

  • Finder Bug El Capitan - rename files

Behavior: Rename a file in a Finder window, while the file is renamed, is always in peak mode (but now has a new name) click on the following to rename file. Finder changes the current selected file of this second return to the file you previously renamed (and moves it to the new position in the Finder window according to the sorting option).

Expected: Rename a file in a Finder window, while the file is renamed is always climax with its new name mode, click on an adjacent to rename file. This file must be selected although Finder/Apple IOS runs in the background to rename the previously selected file and put it in its correct position in the window.  This should result is the way in which previous versions of OSX worked. He always behave this way IF you change the name of the file in a search window that results.

As someone who renames the files frequently, this "jump" of the file highlighted is tedious and boring. I thought that it would have been fixed a long time ago when El Capitan is out - pretty sure I did mention to him at the time, too. As I am not a programmer, I can't access system to report bugs to Apple.

Users which rename files quickly (where batch renaming is not applicable) should not experience the selection of active file exchange once they click on the next file to be renamed - the first file renamed should run in the background to reposition themselves in the Finder window.

10.11.4 version (still has this glitch)

If the files are sorted in the order of alpha this is normal behavior as far as I remember, unless the new name does not change the file command in the sort list. In addition, if you rename a file, then the file is more in highlight mode. You may need to try a renommeur files instead. This is feasible if you similar changes in each file as a sequence of numbers or changing one extension to the other as a photographer can. Or just use a sort column where the order will not change when you change the file name, size of the kind.

  • Several accidents of Finder in El Capitan

Since I installed El Capitan on my Mac mini (late 2012, i7), I've known several newspapers freezes Finder and accidents. Sometimes the Finder raise on its own, but most of the time, I have to take care of it manually. I'll paste the last report of crash below, but first some notes:

~ I have two internal HARD - a drive and a FW800, both of which are partitioned into two (for a total of four partitions).

~ I generally keep a Finder window open all the time, with four or five tabs showing the records I look in on a regular basis.

~ I am running 10.11.2. Under 10.11.1, I had experienced a strange bug in the Finder, where the contents of Finder tabs would be badly redesigned, often shortly before Finder would become unresponsive. I found finally put the viewfinder mode full screen would require a refresh; the fix worked even after the removal of full-screen.

~ I haven't tried to use another user account. It comes to my work machine, and it would be really disruptive to have to spend a day connected as someone else.

Thank you in advance for your help! This is the last report of the accident, copied from Console:

As well as a work machine, I'm sure you appreciate the need for a backup.  So did a clone before installing El Capitan?   Installation of software not tested on a machine is never wise without a backup.

It is possible that the graphics chip or RAM is bad, and El Capitan is located be more sensitive to this issue.   I would be the hardware test came with your Mac to see if a problem is detected, hold the D key at startup, and track in extended mode.  If none is found, it is more likely that the RAM is in question.

You can use Etrecheck to see if there might be some software that you have installed it's not El Capitan compatible or contribute to the problem.   Copy/paste its results here for us to know what you find.   And protect your data if you do not already have: *

  • Permissions problem

    Hello world

I have a problem with permissions to write and read my hard drive on airport Time Capsule.

I can't change the privilege, he tell me that: the operation cannot be performed because you don't have the required permissions.

But I'm the only one using this time Capsule so I am the admin.

What can I do to change the permissions?

    Thank you.

The permissions are a lot more of a problem with El Capitan. You have a computer that still use older BONES?

I recommend that you create the folder from the finder in El Capitan... then use the old computer to move the files to the new folder that you created.

No luck so talk to me... but you cannot fix the permissions on the network drive on El Capo. And it's powerful fussy.

I guess the only way then is to archive the files on USB... so you can plug the drive into your computer, access files, then copy backup.

  • Yet another partition Boot Camp damaged

I've initially was trying to shrink my partition Mac utility disc (in El Capitan) and then planned on using Win7 to extend the Windows partition. From what I can tell and have read here, the empty space was not left not allocated, but was created as a fifth partition that messed up the MBR and unable to start Windows.

I followed with the fix of Eversclever similar problem earlier today, but I can't get the MacBook boot recovery with ⌘R at startup. I just download El Capitan once again to make a bootable USB installation to enter the terminal and remove protection SIP in the morning. I wanted the details of my system because I'm a little concerned just making it worse until it will be unrecoverable. As it is now, I always have access to the files from the Boot Camp partition in the Finder in El Capitan. It will support during the night.

Thank you in advance for lonely T and anyone who spends their time to help out us. I really wish that disk utility would not allow editing of the partition because it seems to be in difficulty. Of course there is always risk when playing with partitions, but what is the "safest" way to do it without backup and start over?

If you are comfortable fixing the MBR issue, convert the partition without title to space and use GParted to merge windows and free space and run the Startup Repair tool, then Yes, it is possible to extend Windows using these tools.

You can also use tools like Winclone or Camptune for resize/backup/restore Windows.

Model Mac after end of 2013 supports Windows EFI, which removes the limits of use and to manipulate the MBR that allows resizing much more easily.

  • El Capitan: Conflict of file Finder? Suddenly deleted files

It happened now on three different occasions: I did nothing in particular on my Macbook Pro (El Capitan 10.11.5; 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5, 8 GB RAM, SSD 256 GB DDR) in collaboration with some files in a folder, when suddenly the folder containing these files was empty.

For example once I was renaming a folder and then open it and print a pdf in this folder. After successfully printing file, I closed and switched back to Finder - to meet the folder above to be empty and the file printed pdf just disappeared, as well as all the other files which are used to be in this folder. Then I noticed that the folder was suddenly his previous name (one than what it used to be before I changed it). I found the files missing in the trash and lost in the folder files superior (to the strange abnormal behavior) with 'conflict' and a long series of numbers preceding its actual file name.

More tips: the first two times it happened, was when I had open Parallels running Windows 10. The third time, Parallels did NOT work.

I couldn't find someone who described such behavior, the web or on Apple's site to research. What is wrong and, above all, how can I stop this behavior?

Your car could be at fault. Avoid any race condition that you can induce the wise software you use that would result in the disappearance of files.
