Fingerprint reader in my laptop HP Envy 15-j063 cl suddenly stopped working

In my HP Envy 15 laptop fingerprint reader - cl j063 suddenly stopped working after 3 months of good work in Windows 8 operating system.

I have tried all troubleshooting list Troubleshooting a (Windows 8) fingerprint reader

but it does not help.

I have updated the driver from the HP website and also using Recovery Manager, reinstalled SimplePass using Recovery Manager, update the BIOS...

My first step was was restore system to a previous date (when the fingerprint reader worked correctly). It did not help.

There is no list of"biometric devices" in Device Manager.

There is no unknown device in Device Manager.

Said control panel ' there is not connected to this computer... fingerprint readers '.»

But it WAS and worked correctly for several months!

Please help me solve this problem!

I wonder if it is software problem or hardware problem...

Hi SergeyPov,

I see that you are having problems with your fingerprint reader on your laptop. I'd love to help you.

You mentioned that you also updated the BIOS. After doing that you did that the fingerprint reader is always enabled in the BIOS?

Another option would be to possibly check the connections related to the fingerprint reader. It may have a bad contact, or it is also possible that the Board is defective. See the link below that can help checking the connection.

If you are still experiencing a problem, see the following link to download the driver and software from the OEM, but also take note of the limitations to functionality.

  • Audio suddenly stopped working on my laptop

My audio suddenly stopped working on my laptop. It runs on windows 8, and it's an acer. I tried restarting the computer and troubleshooting audio through the control panel. Netflix is said the problem is related to Silverlight, but it seems to work very well. I tried to uninstall and install again, but that has not worked. Also tried to install the audio drivers from the acer Web site... nothing. Also downloading windows 8.1 in case that is useful...

    OT: Audio does not

This occurred after the most recent Windows update? (around 7/10)? If so, the KB2962407 update may have been the origin of the problem. I fixed it by uninstalling this particular update. Details can be found here:

I can't open the PDF with Adobe Reader XI... get an error that "Adobe has stopped working" then it closes.  Is it a question of Adobe, Microsoft problem or security issue?

Since you talk about Microsoft, I guess you're on Windows.

Can you open Reader by itself?  If so, try to disable the Protected Mode [Edit |] Preferences | (Improved) security].

  • Want to fire green W701 fingerprint reader when the laptop is turned off

I realize the amount of electricity it uses is trivial, but unfortunately the accusation that carries the battery isn't much else. For the most part it's just because I don't have a use for the fingerprint reader. I completely uninstalled the software from the control panel. I thought that would get the light, but the "light on" survived the uninstaller not so complete.

I hope that there is a way to do it in the bios. If necessary I could re-download the software of fingerprint and do a from there, if possible.

It is possible to do anyway, please let me know. It's a minor thing, but I'm pretty annoyed that I'd make a sort.

When you turn on the computer (off-state), press F1 when you see the Lenovo logo (until the BONES start to load). "I think that you should find the fingerprints under security settings). It shouldn't be too hard to find.

Edit: Looks like that I don't remember it correctly. In the BIOS, you have the option to completely disable the fingerprint reader, but you do not have the option to turn off the green light only without disabling the fingerprint reader. If you want to disable the fingerprint reader completely turn off the computer, then turn on and press F1 when you see the Thinkpad logo (prior to the OS). When you enter BIOS click protection on the menu, and then select access to the Port of IO. In this list, you should have the ability to disable the fingerprint reader that I am sure that will also disable the go-ahead since the sensor is no longer in use. Press F10 to save and exit from BIOS.

To remove the green light only, or disable the option to turn on your computer by sliding the finger without completely disabling the fingerprint reader, in my view, you must reinstall the fingerprint reader software. Then, you must open the application after installation and type your password or by the finger scan enter enter parameters. Then click the settings button in the toolbar and you should have several tabs where you can turn off the green light or disable the use of fingerprint predesktop authentication.

  • Laptop Dell Studio 1537, my "WLAN card stopped working properly.

I'm not savvy material even when it comes to computers. The last few weeks I had a weak wifi signal and pages were loading very slow and not all the way, etc. I was not able to download anything really, either because of the connection. Earlier I had a pop up of Problem Reports and Solutions, saying "your WLAN card stopped working properly. There is a network adapter that allows your computer to connect to a wireless network. To find out if a version update of your wireless network card is available, contact the manufacturer of your device or computer. »

My laptop is a 2008 Dell Studio 1537 is no longer under warranty now (I had to pay almost $ 200 for a crack small cover courtesy of my dad dog last year so I'm not a joke). How would I go about fixing that would not cost a fortune? I read something about some people fixed by re-installing the drivers of some sort, but as I said, I'm not too savvy material etc. with comps so I'm a little confuzzled.

Thanks for any help in advance to all who tackle it. XX

    Hi @raynelle

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

I understand that you are having problems with your new laptop, and I'm happy to help you. Since you posted this a few days ago, it is possible that you have already solved, but otherwise, there are a few things you can try.

First of all, this icon is not immediately or after a certain time after the installation of other software? If it appears after a few updates, then you could try a system restore.

Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 8)

Sorry, but it's just a volunteer community support forum and we have no possibility for debugging problems with third parties (i.e., no HP) applications.

For help with COD4, yout best bet is to see if the game provider has a support forum and post your concerns there.  You are more likely to help in this way.

  • HP ENVY 15: Tap to click stops working

Tap to click stops working after the computer goes to sleep. It worked fine until about a week ago. Scrolling and swiping still work just fine, I just manually left click as it will not respond to tapping. If I restart the computer, it works perfectly again until I close the laptop and reopen, date on which it will no longer work. What can happen?

    Hello

As soon as you remove the Synaptics software, Windows will load a generic driver that will give you the basic functionality (pointer control, click right and left etc.) until you reinstall the other packet of synaptics.

  • My games suddenly stopped working on my laptop with vista SP 2 after a single pass?

Ideas: I use a Gateway laptop with vista Home premium sp 2, AMD turion x 2 dual core x 64 bit, fitted an ATI HD 3200 graphics card. (The card is built-in.) He is more than capable of handling the Dead Space, Bioshock, big chase and combat arms and run each of them perfectly at maximum quality, except for dead space, which had to be alleviated a little to improve the speed and responsiveness.

    • Programs: Borderlands, Dead Space, Bioshock, Grand Chase, Combat arms.
    • No error message. Games freeze just to the preloader or splash screen. The processes are still ongoing, but there is no game window or the game got stuck on splash screen. (I have to 'end of process' to stop smoking completely.)
    • Recent changes made to your computer: just closed, each of these games after their execution 1 time, and they would not work again. Problem occurred after a standard, so that could have linked somehow.
    • What you have already tried to solve the problem: compatibility, analysis antivirus, cleaning Mode, running in as long as administrator, disabling firewall, protection against viruses, disabling the registry Disabling UAC, each administrator, update drivers for graphics card, system update, reinstall everything THAT I can think of who could fix this problem.
    • NOTE: I ran these games on another computer and they work fine. A solution to this issue has completely escaped me.

Have you tried to reinstall or update your directX? or your visual c ++ Redistributable files? Sometimes, if this stuff is corrupted (and you won't know until you start a game generally because it stops working) and you need to reinstall such things.
