Firefox 13 ThinApp

ThinApp 4.7.1

13 Firefox (latest version)

Windows XP (machine own capture)

I hope someone else has experienced this problem before, and came with the reason and the solution.

I packaged Firefox 13 on a Windows XP SP3 virtual computer. the process is completed without error. The thinapp works perfectly on Windows XP machine, however; When I run it on a virtual 64-bit Windows 7 machine, it runs from the home page, but whenever I try to go to another page it crashes just, no errors. Regardless of the web page, I try to visit after the initial launch, the behavior is the same.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Mario,

I tried packaging Mozilla Firefox 13.0.1, (which is the latest version) in a "Machine to capture clean" (Win_XP_x32 SP3) and it was the two works well in XP_x32 and Win7_x64. I got this package in the configuration = 4.7.0 ThinApp Version of Capture - 519532

I also try packaging this same "Mozilla Firefox 13.0.1" application, this time using the last configuration ThinApp Capture Version 4.7.2 = - 771812, and packed "Mozilla Firefox 13.0.1" is also the two works well in XP_x32 and Win7_x64 machines.

That being said, what can I suggest is to use the latest version of configuration Capture THinApp, try if it will work on your end. I just capture with the stages of normal capture (no additional/special stage made)

I don't have Version of Capture of configuration ThinApp = 4.7.1 here in my environment so I can't recreate your issue and help the resolution of the problem, which I'm willing to. But there is less point yet this troubleshooting with an earlier version because there is already a last. Please, first try this packaging with ThinApp worm 4.7.2 and informed me the result, given that in my end, if work well with me. This clearly indicates that it should work correctly on your end as well.

(But if you want just to continue troubleshooting to let the love of learning, try to go first to the "Event Viewer" from the computer where you run this package and see if there are errors returned, if nothig is useful, then go further by using log_monitor.exe)

I packaged Firefox 13 with 11.3 Flash as a single ThinApp and it seems to be common on Win7 64.

Happy to share the ThinApp project files, so that you can just run the build.bat file to generate the binary files, ThinApp.

Please PM your email for dropbox ThinApp project files.

  • Importer thinapp error package. No exe/dat file

    Hello
I have build a Horizon test lab.
    Horizon + connector is configured
Intended to test, I choose thinapp firefox with thinapp 4.7 checking the ticker for use of the Horizon.
When you import the application windows from the console of the connector, I get this:

    Category: import
: Error import thinapp package. None of the exe/dat files. : package ThinApp: Firefox
    Recommended actions:
Check at least que.exe/.dat there is a file in the bin folder of the package ThinApp.
Make sure that the package contains the file 'main data container.

However, there is no exe or / and dat (I tried both) in \\server\thinappsharehorizon$\firefox\bin

The law on this issue is read at all...

I tried to check the log on the connector box without finding additional information

No idea what I did wrong and what should I check?

    Thank you

Did you follow the instructions on how to create the share by using 'authenticated users' to perms and create a subfolder of the application?  As part of the process that you are in the computer in the domain needs (connector) right to talk to the computer part and the domain is a separate entity than anyone, hence the need for two computers in domain explicitly or authenticated users.

  • Upggrading an application but using the new version of ThinApp

I've caught up on recent assignments and I saw this: http://communities.vmware.com/thread/188674 and it made me wonder - what happens to a package, if you update using a more recent version of ThinApp. New patches or 4.0.1 features do not work or is it a single 'package' (which, per package, I mean the actual application, not the OS virtual Thinapp).

example: I have package firefox in 4.0.0 ThinApp 6 months ago, and today I want to deploy an update to Firefox using Thinapp 4.0.1. Is the basic version of Thinapp actually changes for users after this upgrade? It would be important to how I did the update, that is to say appsync against abandonment of the new file with a '. '. 1"in the name?

I am just curious and want to better understand what happens in this scenario.

    Thank you

First, just the Act of installing a new version of the ThinApp tools has no effect at all on existing packages. You can decide to rebuild your packages with the new version. If you do this, the new packages will contain the new YOUR so all of the patches taken the YOUR will be present in the new package. For the new features, it depends. For example, the support for the new parameter in Package.ini 'Protocols' would be available, but you do not have to add this parameter in Package.ini yourself, it will not appear as if by magic. No matter if you are using AppSync or 'on-site' updates (extension.1).

  • ThinReg deleted user of authorized groups

    Hi guys!

We will start by describing the situation:

    App name: Firefox

Groups permit = APP VIRTUAL FIREFOX

    ThinApp YOUR: 4.7.3

    Logon script: thinreg.exe \\foo\exe\firefox\firefox.exe

I have registered the application for users with thinreg (streaming delivery) with a defined logon script to the AD user object, so each time a user connects, logon script is run (well, obviously). But then I removed a user from the only authorized group, APP VIRTUAL FIREFOX.

The user still has the icon but it has no more to reach the anymove of the application, he receives a message from Inbox saying permission denied.

So here are a few questions for you guys:

-At the time of connection, if the application is already registered with thinreg, how thinreg will react? Will try to save, but stop because the application is already registered?

-In my case, the user has deleted groups, but the icon is still there. I thought that thinreg what unregister the application if the user has not authorized and more. So when you want to cancel the registration of the application, that you guys are doing?

This unregistring thing the application each time to login is a huge head in my opinion. I know thinreg loads itself into memory and then unload. I can't ignore the overhead created by this process (especially for the VDI environment) and I don't want to deploy the thinapp SDK on the workstations.

I'd be happy to hear about the solution, you guys, put in place in your business!

    Thanks for your replies!

    > In my case, the user has deleted groups, but the icon is still there. I thought that thinreg what unregister the application if the user has not authorized and more. So when you want to cancel the registration of the application, that you guys are doing?

You think well, thinreg must be cancelled at the request if the user is no longer a part of the any groups mentioned in the PermittedGroups parameter. The unregister will not happen if ThinReg is executed with the parameter /k or /keep or /keppunauthorized. The only reason why it may fail to do so, otherwise is that if the uninstall/unregister script is missing on the computer (this script is generated during the process of registration of ThinReg for the same application), the location of the script located at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Thinstall\ThinReg\%InventoryName%_SomeNumber, InventoryName package/ini and when SomeNumber is a value. or the path of the script is located at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\, the file is called Uninstall.vbs.

    Thank you.

  • Differences between the blend modes and WriteCopy?

    Hi all.

By reading the manual of ThinApp, I read:

"To allow the application read the resources on and write to the local computer, keep the default Merge isolation mode." This means that the application can change the elements outside of the virtual application package. Some applications depend on the dll and registry information in the image of the local system. VMware recommends this mode for applications that do not write in directories system, such as Firefox. ThinApp runs on the physical file system write operations, with the exception of the following directories and their subdirectories that redirect write operations to the sandbox:

    %AppData%\protector.exe

    Common %APPDATA%\protector.exe

    Local %APPDATA%\protector.exe

    %Program % common files

    _ % _ % ProgramFilesDir

    SystemRoot

    SystemSystem % %

To allow the application read the resources on the local computer and restrict most of the changes to the sandbox, select the isolation of the WriteCopy mode. ThinApp intercepts write on all directories operations and redirects them to the sandbox, with the exception of the following directories and their subdirectories that redirect write operations to the physical system:

    Office %

    % Of staff

    % SystemSystem%\Spool '.

Thus for example, in has two modes, writing of the files by the program bundled in ProgramFiles is redirected in sandbox.

I do not understand what the differences are. And on full mode?

    I thank in advance

    JP

Yes, it is not done it myself but can't see why not. Note that the value of the Isolationmode in package.ini is not systemwide. Computer desktop and my documents are exceptions. So to sandbox these directories, you need to copy a #Attributes.ini existing file in the captured file, place it in % office and modify it to ensure that its isolationmode is set to WriteCopy. (The default level is still merged) and then rebuild. It may be useful

  • deploy Firefox with localstore.rdf changed for all users

    Hi all
I'm trying to deploy Firefox 24.3 ESR. I have configured the original menu of the toolbar to be without downloading and the menu bookmarks, leaving only the home button, but I can't figure out how to put the localstore.rdf changed in the files\user install profile when FF is run for the first time for this user. It maintains overwhelming. I put a copy in the \core\browser\defaults\profile installation location {source}, the installation copies to the new user profile, but when FF opens, it crushes him. I can copy in the mod file and use it then, but don't want to do this installation script, as happens in a finished format Thinapp.
Everyone manages to force into a saved copy of localstore.rdf in a recent copy of FF
I tried to follow this (http://mike.kaply.com/2012/03/30/customizing-firefox-default-profiles/), but the onmi.ja turns out to be broken.

    Thanks in advance

    I worked, I Thinapp FF.
    -Open capture
    -pre-scan
    -modified FF installation
    -Open FF
    -close FF
-Copy of localstore.rdf in the user profile
    -After analysis
    -Save Thinapp

  • ThinApp Side by Side say it

    Hello

We run a work Horizon with thinapp environment set to local mode. I'm doing the update aside beside such as Firefox.dat.1 or Firefox.1. The issue I'm having is that everytime I have do this Horizon is not picking up the app as yet updated said 1.0 in the portal Admin Web Horizon. I used the "is this an update of another package" and stressed the good package and still no dice. It doesn't matter if I put the new .exe in the folder of the package or not. If I change .exe pour.1 to match the .dat file still can not make it work. I have googled and looked at the forums but nothing seems to help. I was wondering if anyone has any advice on this. I also tried just to the top update package and I still cannot do not get this to work unless I have remove the whole package delete the repo and let it rebuild with new package here and it will be just to clarify it is 1.0 not a 2.0.

Horizon workspace do not make use of the mechanism of updating on-site ThinApp, i.e. le.1 ou.2.

Horizon Workspace uses two package.ini parameters to identify a package of update...

I've set up a blog for VMware Application Manager, which is in fact the first version of the Horizon workspace so the same principles apply:

    Hello

This is due to the "downturn" bug introduced by VMware with 4.7.

It affects all VOIP applications and some other applications like Firefox.

As a solution, relink or resume the app with 4.6.2

I'm having a problem uninstalling Firefox 12.0 via SCCM because I can't file... Normally, I would run the "C:\Program Files (86) \Mozilla ' ms -, but since it's a thinapp there is no helper.exe and no uninstall file... Any suggestions? I got more than 1000 machines I need to run it on lol...

Uncomment MSIProductCode in the package.ini so that you can use the same GUID to uninstall the MSI file.

Hi, I recently created a new package of 12.0 Firefox, I have integrated flash in there, but the uninstall icon now flash instead of firefox, although the name image and the uninstall process is valid. Again, I have the build package, can I do to solve this isue of the icon to show the icon in Add/Remove programs? Thank you.

  • ThinApped Firefox 11 slow network performance

    Hi all

We have thinapped firefox 11 with thinapp version 4.7. However, we have serious network performance problems when using firefox. In the thinapp firefox on speedtest.net, we get 1000ms ping ~10mb/s download and 3 MB/s in upload.

On the native IE9, we get 100 ms ping ~95mb/s 39 MB/s in upload and download.

At first I thought it was a sandbox problem, as we have our sandbox in %APPDATA%\microsoft\windows\sendto that is redirected to a network drive. I changed this option to use the current directory of the thinapp, but this made no difference. I also tried to add the "DisableRegistryTransaction = 1" option, but it also made no difference.

The ThinApp was captured on a clean XP VM and I test it on our version of W7. I tried this on our XP build legacy and receive the same results.

Does anyone else have this problem? And are there any suggestions? For the moment, we are looking to put firefox in our basic build or delivery through SCCM.

  • Thinapped Firefox unable to update itself

    Hey guys,.

I tried thinapp version Nightly of Firefox that gets daily updates. However, I do not want to apply the update manually by sbmerge or something, but I want the thinapped Firefox version to download the update and apply it himself.

So far (using YOUR 4.7.0) Firefox download the update but fails to apply the next time it restarts. He said simply that "there could be another version of FF race" (which certainly isn't). It seems that there is a question about the sandbox. (regardless of the isolation mode you choose - I have tried all the)

So can you me if it is possible to create a FF thinapped version which is able to update itself? What changes you need to TA packaging?

    Thank you very much

    Hi supplier

The only way to get it is to apply from the portal of support directly from VMWare. It is not freely available for download, because there is no official support for it. If you want to help in the future, you will have to recompile all applications you virtualized with this corrected version with the new official version, in fact 4.7.2.x and one or two weeks version 4.7.3.x.

    Kind regards
