Uninstall a ThinApp icon

Hi, I recently created a new package of 12.0 Firefox, I have integrated flash in there, but the uninstall icon now flash instead of firefox, although the name image and the uninstall process is valid. Again, I have the build package, can I do to solve this isue of the icon to show the icon in Add/Remove programs? Thank you.

Also, I saw that you added MSIArpProductIcon under general-purpose parameter. I have modified your package.ini and attached the same.

Please use the attached Package.ini and rebuild the ThinApp.

  • Size ThinApp icons?

    Hi all

I have a small but weird question.

I use a .ico file that its resolution is 21 x 21. This file icon is also used as a header of an hta file.

Outside the Thinapp, everything works fine and dandy.

After compilation, however, the icon does not show, on the file and in the hta in its header...

Is there a specific standard for sizes of icons in order for Thinapp use?

    Thank you!!

Hello, after some tinkering around, I found that the icon file was indeed not standard.

I converted to a more standard resolution, 32 x 32, and now it works perfectly.

Looks like Thinapp can be a bit picky about the non-standard icons.

  • ThinApp uninstall

It says unknown Publisher when I uninstall the thinapp, how do I fix it? Acrobat Pro, which works very well, is an Adobe product, but for some reason it is not recognized in Add/Remove programs. Should be an easy fix, I guess...

  • PDF files now have a firefox icon

WIN XP. Have you checked the settings of binding files and pdf files are oriented toward using Adobe reader. Finished uninstalling FFox31 and icons back to Adobe. Cleaned computer and clean up the completed installation. Icons remained as pdf two reboots and then changed back to FFox icons. Everything works normally, but the icons are like FFox. Have defined FFox application options to "always ask" temporarily.
I have a second WinXP machine that has updated to 31 FFox without this problem. Strange!

Hi CMBANA. I got exactly the same problem as you, and after much research could not find an answer that worked.

But I have now solved the problem of appearing in the form of documents HTML Firefox pdf files. Maybe you can try this, and hopefully it should work for you.

First, it was not quite a Firefox problem. The solution is also in Adobe Reader itself.

    1. open Adobe Reader
    2 edit - > Preferences
    3. in the categories column, click "General".
    4. at the bottom of the page, click on the button marked «Select default PDF Handler»
5 in the dialog box, select 'Adobe Reader XI' and click 'apply '.
    6. a screen Configuration of Windows. Let him do his thing (takes a few minutes), and then restart your computer when you are prompted.

After the reboot, you should find that all your PDF documents are returned to being the Documents Adobe Acrobat and have the appropriate icon. I also noticed that in Firefox options request the option 'use Adobe Reader (default)' had appeared. Then, you can change the options of Firefox application as described in the earlier messages depending on how you want that Firefox to manage the document, for example whether to display the preview, download or open it directly with Adobe Reader.

Took a lot to sort out, but it works now. Hope it does the same for you.

Above is autoruns to loadup questions

If you still can't find the entry in the registry, download Autoruns.  Let it finish the scanning, then click the Services tab.  Find the name of the service 'wrong' in the left column ("Autorun entry").  Right click and select ' go to '.  You will go straight to the appropriate entry in the registry for editing.

I would like to examine what you load at startup. You should see if you have any programs from loading during the startup process, which can be changed on request. The best tool for this is Autoruns from Microsoft (freeware).
With Autoruns, you can deselect an item which disables startup, or you can click with the right button on an item, then remove it. If you clear the check box that you can check back for re - activate the element. It is an approach much safer than editing the registry and better than using msconfig.
Another useful feature of the program is that you can click with the right button on an item and select search online to get information about the selected item.

  • thinreg.exe/u vs uninstall.vbs

    Hi all

I'm trying to understand how registration/deregistration of ThinApps work best.

Today, we use 'thinreg.exe' to record a ThinApp during logon with the help of a PowerShell script that uses the user's group membership.

    ----------------------------

    Start-Process - FilePath \\server\thinapplibraryshare\thinreg.exe - ArgumentList "/ q" "\\server\thinapplibraryshare\funnythinapp.exe'"«-attendez. "

    ----------------------------

So, the part of logon works quite nice.

When it comes to logoff unsubscribe us just all thinapps during logoff using "thinreg/u".

    ----------------------------

    Start-Process - FilePath \\server\thinapplibraryshare\thinreg.exe - ArgumentList "/ q/u '" \\server\thinapplibraryshare\funnythinapp.exe'"'-wait.

    ----------------------------

That works as well in most cases.

But I recognized that over time some apps don't get uninstalled correctly.

The difficulty that we always ran '% AppData%\Thinstall\Unregister\funnythinappfolder\uninstall.vbs' from inside the users session.

Over time and after some testing I find that by using the 'uninstall.vbs' seems to be more reliable.

So I decided to simply trigger all the "uninstall.vbs" at the close of session by using the following script.

    ----------------------------

    $thinapps = get-ChildItem-Path $env: appdata\thinstall\unregister-Recurse - include uninstall.vbs

    foreach ($uninstall in $thinapps) {Start-Process $uninstall - wait}

    ----------------------------

This is not implemented if far cause there is one left issue I'm trying to understand.

    ----------------------------

What is the difference between doing the unreg with "thinreg/u" and trigger the 'uninstall.vbs '?

Thanks a lot for helping me to understand this.

    Best regards

    Simon

Thinreg.exe/u need to run uninstall.vbs. Why is not as stable as execution of uninstall.vbs I do not know. In order to understand that we need more investigation... But in course of execution uninstall.vbs should be OK...

  • CC of Adobe icon in the menu bar does not open

The icon of Adobe CC swirly in the menu bar will not be open. I use Mac OS 10 Yosemite.

As a side note, I figured out that clicking Applications > utilities > Adobe Installers gets allows you to access programs to uninstall for older versions of Adobe CS (I want to delete older versions of CS on my laptop because they take place and I only need the latest version of CC). And when you click an uninstall program, the icon of Adobe CC swirly in the menu bar opens to the old version of Adobe Application Manager. I suspect, it attempts to open an older version that is not there. And if this is the case, I need to run the new version of Adobe Application Manager to get the icon in the menu bar to join in the latest version. But I don't know where he is.

    Clues?

Well, I got it fixed me.

I uninstalled older versions of CS, restarted the computer and went to: Applications > utilities > Adobe Creative Cloud > VAC > CreativeCloud and manually launch the application manager.

  • I can't get Firefox on my MacBookPro, my user profile is not available. Help!

I got a message at the bottom of my screen telling me that my navigation could be faster if I "refreshed" Firefox, so I refreshed. I lost my favorites and a few other things (I forgot it would happen) and the thought restart my MacBookPro could receive a "restart". When it was time for Firefox restart, it said that I had two profiles, so I chose one of them... apparently not the right one. Firefox wouldn't load or install, and now I don't have it at all. I tried to uninstall Firefox (moving icons to the trash) and all over again with a brand new installation, as a new customer, but... now it says my user profile is not accessible and cannot be found. I dug this file to the trash and put it back on the desktop, but apparently it does not either. I don't know what to do. I NEED Firefox for my browser, even if I didn't have a bookmarks etc. I can redo those, find a new etc. I don't like using Safari, I miss my Firefox like crazy. ANY help or advice on how I can get back Firefox would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Katy

You must locate the profiles.ini file or use the Profile Manager to create a new profile.

    See:

This is usually caused by a problem with the file profiles.ini.

You can use one of them to reuse an existing profile or create a new default profile for Firefox:

    • Remove the profiles.ini file to force Firefox to create a new default profile
    • Use the Profile Manager to create a new profile
If you still have an existing profile, and then click "Choose a folder" in the MP and select the location of a lost profile and recover this profile.

You should find the file profiles.ini in this hidden place:

    • Windows: %AppData%\Mozilla\Firefox\
      * C:\Users\ < user > \AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\
    • Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Firefox /.
    • Linux: ~/.mozilla/firefox/

If the file profiles.ini compensation does not work then also check the location of the cache files.

    • Windows: * C:\Users\ < user > < profile > \AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\.
    • Mac: ~/Library/Caches/Firefox/Profiles/
    • Linux:~/.cache/Mozilla/Firefox/

  • My cd rom seems to have a driver problem

    Hello

My cd rom seems to have been corrupted and I have a message from code 39. How can I use my recovery disks when the cd rom is not working. I have an old computer that has XP loaded, I can load my inside recovery disks & copy on an external hard drive and then copy it on my laptop which is a HP Pavilion dv - 7 3111ea.

    Hello

Unfortunately, it is not possible to do what you suggest.

However, the CD/DVD drive should still work with your recovery disks (unless there is a hardware problem with the drive), because when you start the laptop computer, the drive is controlled by the Bios, no windows - code 39 refers to a driver problem Windows.

You may be able to correct the error of the Windows driver as follows.
