firefox reset appears

I run Fedora KDE to 18 and 20 of Firefox

Some Web sites does not at all, the icon just guard loading and finally it says failed. I did the following to solve the problems.

Tried the same Chrome site - with success in loading
Deleted Firefox history to the beginning of time
Go to the help-Troubshooting Information - but NO "Reset button or link' can be found on this page.
Hsat Google re the missing "Reset button firefox" - nothing found
Can you please help

Hi thanks for you response.
I started with your suggestion to check the profile and that's what I stuffed up.

(1) went to the "firefox Pei" Terminal and deleted the profile and created a new - this went well past and Firefox restarted, but the reset button in "Help-Troubleshooting" did not always appear.
(2) went to /home/***/.mozilla/firefox/ and open the file Profiles.ini and noticed that we still say 'Profile0' so this time I changed it to "Profile1".
(3) trouble... He didn't like that and rebooted like reset completely, but it would not connect to my Firefox login - do not know why as I restarted etc but it would not connect.
(4) uninstalled Firefox and deleted the users directory.
(5) I also noticed that I had installed "mozilla-https-everywhere" so I removed that.
(6) restarted and reinstalled Firefox with the extension of 5 and the whole load of websites according to normal.

I think it's the extension "mozilla-https-everywhere" and I want to report this in case others come on the same subject.

Thanks for your quick response

Note that your list of details of the system shows that you have a user.js file in the profile folder to initialize prefs each time you start Firefox.

The user.js file is present than if you or another software has created this file and normally it wouldn't be here.
You can check its contents with a text editor (right click: open with) If you do not create this file yourself.

The user.js file is read whenever Firefox is started and initializes the preferences to the specified value in this file, so the preferences set via user.js can be changed temporarily for the current session.

Delete a possible user.js file and files numbered prefs-# .js and rename (or delete) the file prefs.js to reset all the prefs by default, including the prefs set via user.js and pref which is no longer supported in the current version of Firefox.

Is the toolbar in the toolbar area? If you switch to full screen mode, this area will usually slide upward and out of sight. You can switch between normal view and full screen by pressing the F11 key.

Usually, an additional toolbar in the toolbar area is added by an extension. Oddly enough, your "more details of the system" does not show an obvious extension of Yahoo!:

    Name: Firebug
    Name: MeasureIt
    Name: Session Manager
    Name: AVG Security Toolbar
    Name: HP Smart Web Printing

    ???

If the toolbar is your home page (the page that is displayed when you create a new window using Ctrl + n), you can reset your default homepage using either:

  • Second firefox.exe appearing in the process in Windows Task Manager...

    Hi all!

I started facing this problem a few days ago and do not know what is the cause:

In my Windows Task Manager, there are two firefox.exe that appear under the process (under Applications, Firefox only appears once). I used to complete the process to close each of the firefox.exe that appear and the result was special. Depending on whether one I finish, either the window closes completely as well as all tabs or hangs the tab that is currently open and I get the message: "bad new first: this tab broke down."

I scanned my computer with AVG for viruses and everything was clean back. I've also scanned with ESET for malware and nothing was found.

Any idea what I can do to fix this? Any help would be appreciated.

You may see the new multiprocessue feature in Firefox.

Automatically disabled when too many installed extensions are detected and extensions that do not yet support e10s are detected.

Compatibility of the extension for the most popular extensions that are hosted on AMO are listed here: http://arewee10syet.com/

    To disable multiprocess:

Make sure the toolbars like the toolbar 'Navigation' and the 'personal bar' are visible.

    • Firefox menu button > Options
    • View > toolbars (press F10 to display the menu bar)
    • Right click on empty toolbar space

Use the toolbar (Customize) to open the Customize and set the toolbar to display items.

    • Make sure the "bookmarks toolbar items" are on the personal bar
    • If "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is not on the bookmarks toolbar, then FRY it in the palette of the toolbar in the window the bookmarks toolbar Customize
    • If the missing elements are in the toolbar palette then drag them from the window, customize the toolbar
    • If you do not see an item on a toolbar in the toolbar palette and then click the button "Restore default" to restore the default toolbar configuration
  • Can I delete the folder titled "Old data from Firefox" which appeared on my desk?

About the old folder of Firefox that strangely appeared on my desk - then - I delete it? I like a clean house. Didn't read where someone asked this question and got an answer. He has been there since March 10, according to the properties button. I just noticed it. But I don't want to delete something where I can lose the extensions or something else. If it is just a backup, can't just get rid of him. I don't know what to do with it anyway.

If you have not noticed any missing data after reset of your, you can delete this folder, but I think that it would be better to archive somewhere where it doesn't bother you. Perhaps to create a balance of things folder you will empty on new year if you don't need then.

  • Undo a Firefox 'reset to defaults' - change the order of toolbars

I used to have my toolbars in the order (from top to bottom): menu, navigation, tabs. Now, after having been reset Firefox, my toolbars are in a different order: menu, tabls, navigation. I want them back in the original order. I use Firefox 16.0.2.

Note: the add-on, DragMyToolbars, has not been updated to work on my version of Firefox. I have the "old data Firefox" file from reset.

Hello, at the moment you can always manually define "tabs at the bottom" - enter Subject: config in the address bar of firefox (confirmed the message information where it appears), search for the preference named browser.tabs.onTop & activate false by double-clicking it.

However this setting could lose its effect in a future version of the browser, for more information, see also www.ghacks.net/2012/07/26/mozilla-tabs-on-bottom-feature-needs-to-go/

  • Why Firefox resets whenever it starts?

Adblock Plus is also apparently disabled and I get a blank screen in the Add-ons Manager if I try to view any information about it, but the Add-ons manager says that it is enabled. I followed the instructions to http://mzl.la/Mt91fd, and when I try to delete the prefs.js file, a dialog box appears with the message "cannot delete the Pref: the file or directory is corrupted and unreadable."

You can do a check disk with the chkdsk.exe program.

If you run the chkdsk.exe from a cmd.exe command window program, then you can read the response of the chkdsk.exe program.

    Open a cmd.exe window:

    • Start > run: cmd.exe < press Enter >

At the command prompt (>) type or copy and paste it: chkdsk.exe/f/r < press Enter > (put a space before/f/r)

If you get something like: you want to schedule this volume to check the next time the system restarts? o/n then answer the question with "Y" and close all programs and restart the computer.

  • How can I find my ReminderFox data after Firefox reset?

Is it possible to retrieve all dates in ReminderFox, I had recorded after a reset of Firefox? I have the "Old Firefox Data" folder on my desktop that includes files of RF and, I believe, backups, but do not know how to use them. Thank you!

You will need to install the ReminderFox extension in the new current profile and copy the RF/folder/files in the folder "Old data Firefox" in the current profile folder.
You can also check the RF extension Options/preferences to see that there is an import function to import data.
