  Hey there, I just installed the updated 2015.3. However, my question is what the engine Mercury Playback is better to use on MacOS, OpenCL or metal? I saw the option and I was wondering if metal gives better performance and faster export times? Can someone enlighten me?

  I noticed that mercury OpenCL worked better than 'software only' or metallic mercury. Metal was ok, but the OpenCL seems to be faster in the rendering and previews... I'm running on an iMac 2015 27 "5 k AE 2017 retina with AMD Radeon R295x 4 gb VRAM, 32 GB of RAM, 4.0 GHz quad core, the merger of 3 TB hard drive. I had problems with the update AE15.3 because it would use my GPU for rendering ray-tracing yet, it was still grayed out even if I got the updated drivers installed... but good Cuda? It works fast, once again, so Im happy! Laughing out loud

• Red screen in first/encoder MXF files

  I converted a bunch of MXF (C300) images in Adobe Media Encoder. All fine convert except files including audio 10 is correct, but the video is replaced by a RED SCREEN throughout the entire clip. Here are a few screenshots:

  

  I can open these original MXF files in VLC Media Player and they play perfectly. However, bringing these specific clips in the SOUL or first creates the same problem red screen.

  I looked all over the internet for an answer and found nothing. Is it possible to convert these files and import them into first correctly?

  Any any help would be greatly appreciated!

  Thanks for responding. I copied the overall structure of the file of the c300 images on my hard drive, and then dropped in the individual mxf files in the SOUL. So, it looks that I don't import correctly.

• Encoding format Blu - ray destroyed my black levels - that I'm going to hurt?

  I need to burn a short to Blu - ray for a future projection, but whenever first/encoder/still ends the disc, the levels of black look anything like what I saw in my project schedule OR even preview. Blacks are soft, gray, with way too many details in them. Research led me to believe that my question has something to do with the color of my project values is from 0 to 255, but that Adobe Media Encoder that will pass automatically to the 16-235. Or something. I don't know, this is all new to me in the last 12 hours.

  I've missed around with the effect levels in first just to test this hypothesis, and when I came out of 0 to 16 in the timeline panel black levels, he did reproduce the difference I saw in the finish of the blu.

  I scoured all the parameters in first and still a way to control the levels of black get in / out of encoder, but couldn't find anything. Someone please tell me what stupid thing I overlooked so that I can make this film to look right.

  For reference, my video source is:

  You were right about that. The settings in the graphics card drive (which apparently I put manually) had the card using its own settings for office and most applications (like the first), but default to the default settings of the program for some video players (that is, only Power DVD). I now see the contrast values constantly between PP and blu reading on the computer, but there is still a question (much more subtle) contrast and gamma when I burn on blu. Will try some of the suggestions above and after return. Thank you guys.

• First export bad vs after export own effects

  I encountered this problem many years ago, but since he come running in each version of Premiere Pro, it's time to find a solution.

  Especially what bothers me is that all the videos I export from Premiere CS4 is not as clean as if I exported it in After Effects.

  I had two situations:

  1. I did an animation in After Effects, export the video to loosles to see what it looks like and the video looked very good and very clean.

  I imported the aftereffects composition through dynamic link in Premiere CS4 and put some music on. That I exported the video out of Premiere CS4 with the Media Encoder in some versions of the HQ as DV Pal, .mov, .h264, Targa sequences... and the video was not as clean as that exported directly from After Effects.

  What's wrong? Y at - it a Permira encoder bug? I had this problem also with an earlier version of first.

  2 I shot a movie in HDV format for a company. I edited the material in Premiere CS4 and since I have exported it to 4:3, I reduced the video. So there was more than enough pixels to make the image clean. But after have exported them out of Premiere CS4 the DV PAL, image quality was not clean.

  I imported that the first sequence in After Effects and export the video from there and I had a great and clean looking for PAL DV video.

  Once again. Is there a bug in first encode?

  I like the first, but since I can't get a nice picture out of it as I am planing to go to FinalCut Pro.

  Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

  Jim, I exported the animation in the 1. scenario as a progressive video.

  EI Yes but if you use PAL presets and exports in first, you have the default interleaving.

• Creating a DVD with camera HDD as source - better items than first pro + yet?

  I recently received a request to transfer the video to a basic SD HDD camera that creates files encoded to mpeg - DVD and I leaned in some options to do so.

  There is one thing I need to clarify a bit of everything, and I hope someone here can help.

  In Premiere Elements the dvd creation and video editing is in the same program, and it seems to me that after mounting and press on create disc, there is a process of encoding taken to create vob files.

  In the Premiere Pro / again workflow, however, it seems that Premiere Pro first encodes mpeg compatible dvd, and then after importation do files again it is possible that again also transcodes the mpeg files to make them go up a dvd.

  Which if true, would make the worst material quality target in this workflow compared to first elements.

  If so far, I have concluded that given the source that I use for video, it seems I want to get the best output quality by using items first that

  Prempro/still.

  My observations are correct in this case?

  Now, I know I could probably set the encoder settings so that the files do not match a dvd disc, but I prefer the approach where I just say "4.7 GB dvd" to avoid transcoding in Encore and figures the encoder to what compression to use.

  I don't know where to stop, but I see that it should have been earlier. Still, if others have similar questions, they have a few comments to fall back on.

  What you describe, I think that PrE will work fine. However, still can do the same thing, if used correctly. Pre has just done the same behind the scenes and will actually run faster. It's like having a really good Adobe Dynamic Link built in. Account only, which might swing my vote to pre, with the description of your project. Now, done correctly, the resulting video DVD will have only a small difference - the burn speed is automatically configured in pre. This will NOT affect the quality, but could play a role in the gameplay on various set-top players.

  Regardless of your choice of authoring software, use better blank media you can. It boils down to Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden. There are other Virgin Media, Falcon, that gets good reviews from a respected here, contributor Jim Simon. I have yet to try it, but just on the REB.

  Make sure that you've seen on hidden files to look for this file...

  OK the file "Adobe Media Encoder" is not on my machine... It seems that the installation is FUBAR.

  I have check the CS3 Master Collection distribution - I do not see a module for Adobe Media Encoder reinstall.

  So my question is. How can I reinstall "Adobe Media Encoder" for the collection of CS3?

  Which event viewer had to say, particularly the Applications and System tab? Clues? If the program crashes, or suspended, there should be a track. You should see the right messages, when it launches, and then some kind of a warning or error message.

  I forgot which version of Vista you are running, 32 or 64? Did you install the CS3.0.2 update (I think you mentioned that you did)?

  Otherwise, I'm out of ideas. Many have had no problem in running CS3.0.2 on Vista-32. I remember no launch of SOUL with CS3, but my memory problems, it's not what it was once. SOUL just opened and worked for almost everyone.

  One last question: would it be possible that SOUL launch, but its window is being obscured in some way? Have you been double monitors unique? PrPro, you can reset your window > workspace to one of the default values?

  Man, I scrape "the bottom of the barrel" here, but trying to think of what could be wrong.

• Why do I get the yellow and red lines running through my images on pause?

  How is it that when I stop my images, it looks like this:

  

  and when I play it goes back to normal and it seems fine.  I normally wouldn't mind what happens but when I make it on these messed-up frames are coming in the rendering.  Any ideas? I tried the images in different formats.  I am running first on El Capitan Beta, but this has never been a problem.

  OpenCL is your problem.  I'm assuming that the integration of metal performance GPU has affected the functioning of first with OpenCL.  Reading CUDA mercury switch or software and it will get rid of these lines.

  However, I noticed a reading with OpenCL is very nice.  I can see the difference in speed during playback.  If you can get on the yellow & red lines annoying pause

  As noted above, PS was easy to fix by removing the sniffer.exe, but this driver is no longer...

  FYI, VMware ESX/ESXi is NOT your typical OS... It's a bare metal hypervisor. As such it needs to interact at a much deeper level than to any other operating system, hence the need for the material to be on the HCL... I've gotten to the point where if the material isn't on the VMware HCL, or something that turned out to have zero emissions made by many people test it successfully, I wouldn't even consider using it.

  I kind of got lucky with my current of ESXi host, while all the time I have dedicated to research before making the purchase was fortunate to part of the equation. I made sure that the speed control (hardware RAID) was on the list HCL as well as processors and practically everything I could check. In addition, I had several highly technical conversations with engineers from Dell BEFORE I made the purchase. I then provided feedback on the success of the installation, so that they would know that it would work (even if it is not 100% supported in this configuration).

  IF you really want to build a white box to run ESX/ESXi, then get a motherboard server, use the CPUs (Xeon, nothing else) server, with a material (with BBWC) RAID controller, SAS, ECC memory hard drives, etc... Before starting to invest in all of this, however, check the big manufacturers (and their release sites) to see if they offer any servers that ARE on the VMware HCL at a better price... You can pick up a Dell R710 server with one or two drives inside for a good rate... At this point, turn your current box in SAN and place the virtual machine is... You can even try the method of operation ESXi 4.x from a (2-8 GB in size) USB flash drive, since you'll be able to leave enabled on the host USB...

  Hi all. I really enjoyed to the tail upward exports in ME first, and then the batch code all at once. I do a weekly job where I will have one or two videos dozen finished in a sequence, so I need to put the entry points and and export each of them individually. With my old workflow in Final Cut Pro 7, I had to export each item one at a time. Just has them like ProRes and waited on them, and then took those compressor and I coded them in my final download YouTube format.

  With my new workflow, to keep good quality HD, I find that I can not queue for ME with what should be the right setting of h.264 720 p. So, I've been queues to ProRes and then taking these files to compressor for my final output of 720 p. Don't get me wrong, it is still faster than the old way I. But I want to make the tail just my code to ME with settings h.264 720 p in the first place and not make another encoding. So see if you can find something that I did it correctly.

  I'll post my ME and compressor settings I used. With compressor, videos come out looking really good. But with ME, it's really muddy. There are a few macroblocking and - I forgot the term for TI - where the gradient on a wall of a light will not have enough depth and a bad image. But the better term for what it looks like is just muddy.

  It comes to my Apple Compressor settings that work well for me:

File name shows who is who. Video is 36 seconds, and the files are approximately 22 MB and 16 MB. The file ME encoded is really great, even if it seems worse.

  You should be fine to get the right files looking for PP with the option to export H.264.

  I still get an output that is the same quality as the following. I am on a mac so if I exit same worms like seq I get an unplayable file. Because I'm .mts of cut that is not from snow leopard.

  I FCS2 (fcp6) but there is no connection other than xml. If I could the compressor output I would.

  SOUL hangs when I pulled out the TL to encode, so I have to use the first encoder. I don't know why SOUL hangs, but it always has. SOUL works as a stand alone, but not in the export chain.
