flashing screen unable to do anything else apart from CTRL + ALT + DELETE 8.1 windows

This morning, Toshiba Satellite C55 - starts ok. signs to ok. but the next screen blinks and the hourglass is NOT (circle thing) swirling around. Stops flashing for about 15 seconds and start again. The only thing I can do is CTRL ALT DEL any help or ideas would be welcome.

In response to my post from 08:13 today. Have tried various ways one seen on the web many points. It is a common problem caused by many things according to what I read on the web. So I took my laptop to PC World and they told me that the flashing is caused by Norton. Basically, a clash of downloads from Microsoft that was huge yesterday evening and Norton do not receive the patch of security right in place beforehand. I know the result when I pick up my laptop. If I was more computer savvy I couldn't do it myself. I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else?

Hello. I made a stupid mistake and installed an add-on or extension (do not know which) that I was hoping would allow me to display YouTube videos in full screen. Unfortunately I don't remember the name of the add-on/extension.

The problem is, now everytime I open Firefox, it opens in the mode "full screen" and ANYTHING (including F11) will allow me to access the taskbar, the address bar or an other controls Firefox. I can nothing at all, but display the homepage fullscreen! The only option I have is to hit CTRL-alt-del and close Firefox.

I tried to uninstall and reinstall Firefox and this does not solve the problem. Help, please. Thank you!

P.S. I write this in Internet Explorer as I can't currently use Firefox.

Try to rename (or delete) the file xulstore.json in the Firefox profile folder.

You can check if you can start Firefox in Safe Mode by holding down the shift/Options key.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem.

    • Put yourself in the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance
    • Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode safe
  • CTRL-ALT-DELETE screen on reconnect

When my users reconnect point of view they are CTRL-ALT-DELETE screen (see picture). Can someone of you think of a setting I can set who would do that? I don't remember what I changed, but it wasn't always like that. It seems that a CAD is sent when they reconnect because sometimes you can actually see the requests for a brief fraction of a second before it changes to the CAD screen. We use PCoIP and view 5.1.

I've seen this before and was able to solve by making sure users have permissions to lock virtual desktops.  Mainly in my environment, at some point, some of our users had the habit of locking of workstations shared under their account and leave for the day, leaving the computer virtually unusable for regular, unless users they turn it off, or call the assistance service.  The 'solution' to the problem was explicitly deny users the ability to lock the computer via group policy using DisableLockWorkstation strategy.  Fast forward a few years when we have implemented VDI and users who had been prevented from locking computers received the same symptoms you see.  When we got rid of DisableLockWorkstation policy, everything worked very well.  Keep in mind that we use XP and a mixed domain 2003.2008 so politics is maybe a bit different for the domain Windows 7 2008.

Other things to check are that if you are using any type of unique signature or anything else that affects the Windows GINA, you have to play with what order you install these applications compared to the Agent of the view.  Sometimes the GINA chaining can get screwed upward.  Uninstall/reinstall also ultimately see Agent and VMware Tools.

    Hope that helps

  • Nothing of opening + Ctrl Alt Delete black screen

After about an hour of the execution of my office main (sometimes even less), it will stop completely anything, anything, closed opening and if I tap Ctrl + Alt + Delete, I get a black screen saying that it can not display logon, and security options etc.

I searched and tried different advice to reset the winsock to the damaged user account to clean start and closing off the coast of third-party services. Absolutely to squat. I also scanned for viruses, malware, spyware, etc. in normal and safe mode and nothing turned upward.

Please try to avoid of telling me to reformat or system restore, because the last system restore point I have is 2011 when we built the computer and it's basically like reformatting and I think I'll start to cry.

    Hi, Crimson,

First of all, I suggest you to restart the system and keep it idle for more than an hour and check if the problem occurs.

As you've already tried several troubleshooting steps, and even the question persists in safe mode, I suggest you to use the tool (sfc) System File Checker in safe mode to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files in Windows. This will help us determine if any system files are causing the problem:

I had to do a full system recovery on my computer with Vista. Towards the end of installation screen is frozen on a blue screen which says that it was a single configuration screen and to ignore the messages etc. other than those who might ask you to restart.  This form has remained for more than 1 hour and a half before I dared to think that there might be frozen by pressing Ctrl-alt-delete and then cancel I could get the desktop to appear how I was responsible for approving some updates, more than 90 more.  Half of these updates failed, but future attempts had succeeded re installation. Now everytime I restart the computer, it goes back to the original blue single please wait screen.  I can go out with Ctrl-alt-delete. We have recently upgraded to Windows 7 Enterprise and have some problems with some of our laptops.

  • Shortcuts on the screen of welcome (Ctrl + Alt + Delete)

    Hi all

First of all, I hope this is the right subforum - otherwise, feel free to suggest better alternatives or move (Mods/Admins).

    So here's the deal:

My company has recently updated from XP Pro to Windows 7.

Since then, I had a big problem: I used to press Ctrl + Alt + Delete to open the Welcome screen (at least I was told it's called like that) and had a variety of shortcuts at hand to lock the computer, users of contactor, open Manager tasks etc.

On Win7, they seem to have disappeared - the buttons are still there and clickable, but just by pressing "T" will not open the task more for example Manager. (Pressing enter still works to lock the computer, but simply because it's the default selection).

I used these shortcuts a lot and would like to have them back.

Please do not try to suggest alternatives (Windows + L to lock, Ctrl + SHIFT + ESC key to taskmanager etc) - I know, but hate to use 5 different ones for simple tasks. I just want my old standards of return...

    See you soon,.

  • X201T tablet - cannot lock the computer or press ctrl + alt + delete to the Security screen

    Hi guys.

Sometimes, when the X201T is in the mood not close correctly (and having the light of HARD drive shuts down for an infinite period of time), I find that I can't lock my computer with windows-L.  Also, I can't hit ctrl-alt-del to bring up the Task Manager.  Finally, I can't run any software which shows a UAC prompt, as consent.exe will be backgrounded and I am never offered the chance to hit Yes.

I believe that it is related to the central issue-that, for one reason or another, the machine won't let something to support the display.  Consent.exe would require half black machine out for the guest screen.  Lock would send you to the lock screen, and Ctrl-Alt-Del displays the Security Menu of Windows.

    I run Windows 7 x 64.

I installed the operating system from scratch, and I took care to follow the instructions in "installing OS from scratch" Lenovo on their Web site.  Entirely, I realize that the order of the driver and the software install issues with Thinkvantage stuff.

I do IT doesn't work and I have deployed a lot of laptops Lenovo to employees over the years.  I don't think it's something I am doing wrong, but you never know!

Just to see if it was a problem with my windows install, I reinstalled Windows yesterday, and I get the same behavior.

Sorry for all the posts, everyone.  As you can see, I have many questions.

    Finally solved this problem.

You must make sure that the following Windows 7 hotfix is applied:

Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit) update Module KB976755 (WW) - ThinkPad X 200, X 201 tablet.  You can get this information from the Lenovo support and download site.

Although the writing on this hotfix does not refer to this problem, this eliminated the problem for me.  I found that Lenovo System Update didn't install the fix.

My assistance spent a little time with the support of Lenovo to identify this problem.  My understanding is that the fix is included in the preload image Lenvo the camera comes with, so you will get this problem if you do a clean installation of Windows 7 and Lenovo system update does not install the fix.

install a new motherboard in my computer, I need the recovery cd to start the computer, I have Windows xp?

Assuming that you are XP is already installed (you do not specify) and the old IDE hard drive, you may need to enable the IDE in the BIOS of the motherboard.  Sometimes on systems more recent IDE is disabled for SATA.  Other than that, I don't know.  Find a friend who has an XP Pro CD.  How is that you have it installed but do not have the CD?  If it was a computer OEM like HP, Dell, etc, then you should contact the manufacturer for a restore CD, but since you have changed the motherboard, it is possible that they won't support you more, unless it is a replacement of the factory.
