  • Restore a FMS upgrade to the previous version?

I got an FMS that was to version 5.6.4 and tried to update to 5.6.7. It is having a problem connecting to database and cannot update the database currently. I wanted to know if it was even possible to return to 5.6.4? Is it as simple as running the 5.6.4 Installer and update option?

    Thank you

    Hello

If the database has been modified (even a little) then you cannot revert to a previous version. That's why the upgrade procedure requires a backup of database.

  • Upgrading from Flash Media Server

    Hello

I'm updating FMS 3.5 (that I found recently on updates)... my question is:

Do I have to perform upgrades one after another? or can I just get the last updated and it must include all the previous updates in it?

For example, is the latest update for FMS 3.5 version: 3.5.7. In the FMS 3.5.2 release notes it says he understands 3.5.1 in it... However, in older versions it does not mention anything in the notes on the inclusion of the previous updates in their. I'm not sure about this.

Finally, this applies also to other versions of FMS... If the answer is YES (the final upgrade includes all the previous) or NOT (I have to get them all and apply them one by one)... this answer apply to the FMS 4.0 and 4.5 FMS upgrades as well.

Sorry if this question was already asked before... and thanks for the help.

    Beauvois

Yes, it is actually an easy question, but involves a bit more than that too. The short answer is that you do a complete reinstall.

When you upgrade, you should back up your previous installation because NOTHING will get on. This includes all parameters in XML for FMS files and all of your applications and content for them.

To the XML settings, you must change all by hand as XML files have changed over versions, which means that you need to find the tags you already changed and manually change again.

Just something to keep in mind when upgrading to a new version.

  • Questions about the upgrade of FMS 4 to 5

    Hello
Two the questions I have have not found a response.
I Adobe Flash media Server 4 on a Windows Server 2003 32-bit et I'd do it upgrade to version standard 5
Is it possible to change since the version 4 to version 5 without using version 4.5 and with an upgrade key ?
It is absolutely essential to use Windows 2008 R2 to install version 5 as I've seen in the technical specifications ?

    Best regards.

The support for AMS 5 platform is Windows 2008 R2 and Cent OS 5.8.

In addition, you can directly install AMS5 with the key to upgrade on Windows 2008 R2. Just that you need to enter key FMS 4 series also during installation.

  • Question regarding the upgrade of the FMS

    Hey,.

We are modernizing our 5.6.2 to 5.6.3 FMS.  The manual recommended to make a backup of the FMS database.  Our UNIX based with a mysql db external system running on another machine.  Because I do not seem to have direct access to this external machine to login - I was wondering how many people bother to make this external db backup before upgrading their FMS.   I made the backup of the FMS itself, but can't seem to get connected to this computer today.

Since the "hot spot" of the country.

I recommend it, but it's your comfort level if you choose to do or not.  I only got 2 upgrades failed within 5 years, I've worked with Foglight.  One of them was due to lack of disk space for the upgrade and the other has permissions issues, in both cases we set the heart of the problem and have been able to get the upgrade to always try the work successfully on a future.  This is not to say that you will not encounter issues, but generally speaking, I have not seen much.

  • FMS 3.5 upgrades is not binding to ports 80, 1935

I installed and ran FMS Development Server 3.5 on my Fedora 15 x 32 for a long time now. Everything works fine. However, recently I discovered on the updates to the server. So I downloaded all the (3.5.2 - 3.5.7)... the latest version I have is 3.5.1... and it works very well. Installation of the new version on the server upgrade works great... and when from the server doesn't give any errors.

    It is said in/var/log/messages:

    Server from...

    Server started (/ opt/adobe/fms/conf/Server.xml).

However, don't check my IP address binding, it shows no connection to ports 80 and 1935. The server administrator runs successfully because I can see binding to port 1111.

Whenever I run my test application I used to run correctly on FMS 3.5.1 I can't get a connection.

So I was wondering whats wrong... why it is not more binding? is there something wrong with my upgrade process? I tried to uninstall some currenltly I have and install the new update... same result.

I need updates because they contain bug fixes I need to have on my server.

    Thank you

Thank you vibsgupta for pointing out the PROXY thing... I shouldn't have filled the PROXY value.

However, this is not the real reason for my problem. The ports are not binding and FMS is not working properly because I use Fedora. Once I switched to CentOS, everything worked like charm out of the box.

    Thank you

  • Installation in silent mode of the FMS?

Is it possible to do a silent install of the FMS on a Linux platform? Don't generally install us Xwindows libraries unless absolutely necessary. I don't see any information in theinstallation and Setup Guide for 5.6.10 i indicating there is a way to do it.

This is specified in edocs under silent mode

    http://eDOCS.quest.com/Foglight-storage/300/doc/core/installation-unixEmbedded/IG_Before_Installing.4.php

Although in this KB article "what is the syntax for a mode Setup silent FMS or upgrade on Unix / Linux?

    https://support.software.Dell.com/kb/sol78202

Please note that you don't have to have xwindows installed, you can also run Setup with-i console for a text mode install http://edocs.quest.com/foglight-storage/300/doc/Core/Installation-unixEmbedded/IG_Before_Installing.4.php

    Hope this helps

  • Update/modify Version Groovy on FMS

Is there a way taken in charge to change the version of the groovy used by the FMS for the script of the rule? Or is there the intention to do this in a future release? Groovy version 1.7.6 is relatively old...

Oh, and on Java 1.6... * cough * sorry, I digress...

    Thank you

I can't speak for the team of PM, but I know it was discussed and things are upgraded at any time.  You don't know when is the next major update.  That said, he would not have cared to upgrade these yourself and could cause problems on the system.

  • Problem with the rules after upgrade of the VM in foglight cartridge

    Hello

There is a small problem with the rules after that I updated the VM cartridge level.

In the default rules, I changed a few settings so that they will act as I need.

However, each time I upgrade VM cartridge my rules are off and marked as backup.

The question is: is there a way to upgrade the cartridge and keep my active rules after upgrading?

    Best regards

    • Title

Backup rules fill in the dashboard management rule after Foglight upgraded
    • Description

After that an upgrade of Foglight was conducted, several backup rules are created for rules that have been published before the upgrade. For example:

      Cluster VMW IO network
      Cluster VMW IO network (backup)

    • Resolution

During the upgrade procedure, the FMS has detected that some of the original rules have been changed in some way. It copies the rules previously upgraded in backups, before trying to merge the contents of the update rule in the former.

Assuming that the FMS works as expected, the rules of backup can be deleted. However, it is best to confirm this in the respect of the rules first before making deletions.

When editing rules, particularly rules OOTB (out of the box), it is recommended to copy the original rule, disable the original rule and edit the copied rule. This should reduce the risk of the problem described in this Article.

  • upgrade to media Server5

I have Adobe Flash media server3.5

Can I switch to media server 5?

What do you mean by upgrade? Do you mean... free update in this case I don't think upgrade to AMS 5 of FMS 3.5 is free.

If you mean upgrade with respect to configuration files and assets (and your custom applications)... I guess that once you install AMS 5, likely same applications and assets should work. However for the files of configuration, because there have been significant changes between AMS 3.5 and 5 of the AMS, I suggest you to manually transfer these changes... However, IMHO, in most cases, the transition from 3.5 to 5.0 AMS should be smooth... In addition to the fact that FMS 3.5 is not supported, you should also look at as to what are your specific mileages to move to AMS 5.0.Please look at the web page of the product for more details.

Side to this, I should also mention that the AMS is available in AWS market place.

  • Question about upgrading fglam on servers monitored for cart javaEE

    Hello

I just upgraded our FMS to 5.6.5 today and tonite, I tried to upgrade to the last agents JavaEE application servers.  Unfortunately when I try to deploy, it is said that our fglam is an intermediate version behind.  (from memory I think the fglams are on 5.6.2 and javaEE carts require 5.6.2.2 or something close to that).

Therefore, to upgrade the fglams - could I just do that on the application servers that will JavaEE agents?  If so, how an fglam upgrade is made to a selective set of servers?

    Thank you

    "mark".

Once you have installed the update FglAM cartridge, you can go to the ' Hosts/Agent/Agents of Directors' dashboard that shows that all the connected Agent Managers. This dashboard, you can selections several hosts, and then click "Upgrade".

  • I hope it's a matter of configuration base 4.5 FMS.

We bought the ball and all our servers upgraded to 4.5 FMS.  I am changing the IIS for Apache Web server and try to get the HLS to work (without much success).  I think it's a problem with my apache configuration... I hope that someone (perhaps someone from adobe?) can help.

the platform has been installed in the c:\program files\adobe\flash media server 4.5\etc default location...

all my video content is located at e:\fmsvids\localuser\fms-web\progressive\userid\file.f4v

the fms in the vhost xml app directory pointing to e:\fmsvids\localuser\

This is what I added to the httpd.conf file:

    Progressive alias E:/fmsvids/localuser/fms-web/progressive"."

    < directory "E:/fmsvids/localuser/fms-web/progressive" >

    True HLSHttpStreamingEnabled

    HLSMediaFileDuration 8000

    HttpStreamingContentPath E:/fmsvids/localuser/fms-web/progressive"."

    HLSFmsDirPath "..".

    # Uncomment the following to activate the encryption

    # to this place.

    # Server HLSEncryptionScope

    # HLSEncryptCipherKeyFile "... / phls/vodkey.bin.

    " # HLSEncryptKeyURI" https:// " < servername > /hls-key/vodkey.bin '

    Options - Indexes FollowSymLinks

    < / Book >

The alias is working as I can download the f4v smoothly via the url http://Server/progressive/userid/file.F4V , yet my tag of the video:

    " < video src = ' http://Server/progressive/userid/file.F4V "> "

    < / video >

only seems to work in chrome.  Adding the *.m3u8 to the file.f4v doesn't seem to work in safari (mac or iOS).  For the file.f4v record is the same video like sample1_1000kbps.f4v in the directory webroot/vod.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    figured it out. "<>

I can't google anything about them then please enlighten us on that. I will continue to dig into the FMS 4.5 to try to resolve this problem without a rewrite SSAS. For anyone interested I will report back to this subject when I solve this problem.

    Hello

I'm not techie and I wan't to make sure I don't do something wrong during an upgrade of our FMIS server. When I try to install the upgrade (3.5.7) I select 'upgrade to Adobe Media Server 3.5.7' > 'next', a popup warning:

"A previous version of Adobe Media Server is currently installed
"Notice * the installed version are uninstalled."

All files, including config files, meay deleted.

Do you want to continue? »

I have to stop here and save something? If 'Yes' – what?... .or am I just paranoid and ignore > continue

I'm afraid to do something wrong...

    Thank you

When you previously installed FMS, you did it to configuration changes? If so, you should update your current configurations and configuration files.

In addition, you check that the SGF services are running?
