  I've been running Simple pass Windows 8.1 on my HP Pavilion DV6 6053ea for a while now and only in the last few days it has stopped working properly.  It won't let me through the lock screen.

I am aware that this laptop is old and out of warranty, but it was perfectly fine until recently. So, what reason is there that HP would lock my Windows 7 product activation key and how would I be able to use it?

  First of all, you can NOT use an OEM Key Code to activate a retail installation. You need the OEM of Windows version. In this case, you can contact HP in your country to order a set of recovery.

• Pavilion dv6 - 7013cl - black screen with caps lock led flashes constantly at startup.

  The laptop was running hot. I cleaned the dust from the fan area. The battery is bad. I checked the voltage on the charger that was 43v - bought a new charger is 18.5 v. I wiped the ram and started with one and moved to different positions. I have now a black screen with the cap lock key blinks blue continuously and the f12 key led light ceases to orange. Any suggestions what I should try next and which snaps the seeing Cap continuously flashes means - that is a code or have a meaning?

  I have a HP Pavilion dv63090si running Windows 7 x 64. I use a number of diacritical signs and diphthongs and usually use the ASCII or ANSI of these characters values. I do not have an obvious Num Lock key on this keyboard, and are not of letter keys designated as keys to use with the fn key (which I have used in previous laptops).  How the hell can I get these characters in text documents?  There is a lock (requires a password or your finger scan to continue) key but it doesn't seem to be a Scroll Lock / Num Lock key is.

  Thank you for the information on your laptop. I just wanted to be sure that you did not have this key on the keyboard.

  There is another solution to your problem. You can remap any of the keys on ' num lk ' key.

  I recommend SharpKeys 3.0, because it is free and very easy to use software.

  How you will be able to come back to this key used to do?

  You need only to remove the entry from the list in the main window of SharpKeys and restart the machine.

  My dv6 specifications say that it handles 72 and 144 Mbps on 802.11n (2.4 Ghz). I know that my Linksys E3000 is tranmitting correctly because I have an Acer laptop sitting next to dv6 and it is humming to 144.

  I missed a setting?

  Try substituting a different, and possibly on a different channel strip.  Powering the Acer while you do your tests.

  I see. You will need to take the PC to a specialist to a computer repair shop. He could give you close to your problem.  He will take the chip from the BIOS of the laptop and write a new BIOS on the chip and then soldered to the motherboard.

  I use my HP Pavilion DV6 7023tx laptop. It is 1 year 3 months older (warrenty expired). It was working fine, but one evening that I found it start with black screen and caps lock blink twich all the 2/3 seconds and after some times it gets hot.

  I tried to solve the problem on the following link accoroding

  It looks like failure of corruption BIOS. but it will not automatically recover as mentioned in the post.

  So, what should I do now?

  Thanks for your reply.

  The last thing I did, remove the CMOS battery and after a few minutes I plugged it.

  Then plug in the power adapter and press the power button / stop.
  Laptop starts but gives an error message

  'The CMOS checksum is not valid, the BIOS will be reset to the default configuration and will be rebooted.'

  

  Finally, laptop starts normally. It works very well...

  But same problem when I restart

  "Caps lock shift white blink screen 2 times all 3/4 sec.
  

  So finally

  1 remove the CMOS battery and after a few minutes I plugged it again

  2. connect the power adapter and press the power button / stop

  3. laptop starts normally (with one identical to the previous error msg)

  4. upgrade the bios to F.29 (previously I had F.24)

  5 Everythings works very well (start/stop have no effect)
