free upgrade path - XP to Windows 7

Is there a way of free upgrade from XP to Windows 7 that Microsoft offers? kindly help.

Hello

No, currently there is no free upgrade to XP > 7. However, it is of course possible to XP > 7 in general.

Before getting started, or before the upgrade, you'll want to go there and download the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor - http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=20

Essentially, what this software is that it scans your system / inserted to see if they will work properly with Windows 7. It also checks specifically your PC hardware to see if it meets the system requirements to install on your system.

Once you know everything will run OK and to be consistent, you'll want to read this to see how to start the upgrade process real - http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/help/upgrading-from-windows-xp-to-windows-7#T1=tab01

Kind regards

Patrick

  • Windows Vista free upgrade to Windows 7 - GONE - WRONG!

    Hello.

I bought this computer (HP Pavilion Dv61210 - his) coming 3 years ago now. I paid extra when I bought it to get the "free" upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 (which was not yet published).

Anyway, the laptop died a few weeks ago and comes back with a new hard drive and you guessed it, VISTA! I hate Vista! I'd rather have XP Vista any day - but I want my copy of 7 back. If someone can advise on how I can do this, I would really apprecaite it. I know that the download page has been foolishly removed the other everything on time and the old hard drive is completely dead.

I don't see why, after paying extra money on top (so the upgrade was not really free!), I can't have the operating system that I paid for. It is simply not good enough. I paid for the copy of windows 7 and I do not know that HP have documents who was eligeable / who downloaded the upgrade - which I am sure they can find me on as this is the same computer, series / product number, address recorded at etc - so I don't see why I can't get my copy , either to download or by mail on a disk for me.

And prior to the issuance of the; "Yes, but they do not give you the discs any cause you can put it on computer and then one more" comes when you buy a copy in the store, on a disk, you can do this - does not mean that we all do well! I have HP hard drive dead if need be prove my copy is lost. Hell, they can take my laptop and install the OEM version on it for all, I worry so it would certainly be installed only on a single computer!

THIS IS WHY PEOPLE NEED DISKS, HP!  IF YOUR PRODUCT FAILS, AS THIS ONE DID, WHY WE WOULD HAVE TO PAY MORE BECAUSE YOUR PRODUCTS ARE OF INFERIOR QUALITY? If I had the copy that I paid for a drive, I wouldn't even be here ranting about it, CAUSE I had HAVE RE-INSTALLED IT ALERADY!

I think his dispicable to delete the download page and prevent people to recover expensive software, in this case a BONE, they paid for (and the computer only on the condition that he would have to purchase Windows 7 when it is released). It's basically theft! When you pay for something and you don't get it, you don't accept it! No, you're saying "they stole my money!"...

It's not like HP is so tight on cash, they need to do these things, so that people who cannot afford having to buy new things all the time thanks to remove any kind of person to find their products! Absolutely disgusting!

I even remember that when I was downloading the upgrade and internet problems, I called HP and was told by the woman if I could not download it, I could not have the disk and there is no refund. So I said: 'it means you're telling me that I paid for a product you can't have and you don't give me my money back?' and she said 'yes' and hung up. Shows you how much HP cares about their customers! Disgusting!

Will not buy this brand again, definitely! The level of what is called 'customer service' is enough for you put off, never mind of waste like that!

you have your product key for windows 7?

If so, you can download windows 7 from the link below, it will be an ISO file which can be burned to DVD as an image. Be sure to download the correct version (Home or pro) and language.

  • Upgrade HP Sstream 13 Windows 10

I tried to install the Windows Technical Preview on my HP Stream 13 10 and he told me I had a compressed operating system and he could not continue the upgrade.  SOM research and I now knew more about the class WMI installed.  My question is with Microsoft ad Windows 10 will be a free upgrade for users running Windows 7 and newer that we will be able to upgrade our 13s Stream directly from Microsoft or will we have a special HP image?  If we need a special image HP how will effect the amount of time we will be able to upgrade our laptops laptop computers.  I'm an IT professional so I tend to jump in with both feet when I get to an upgrade of the OS, so I want to be able to upgrade when Microsoft publishes 10 window immediately.

Earlier versions of Windows 10 allowed an upgrade on Windows WIMBoot 8.1 System.  The error "Windows can not be installed because this PC uses a compressed operating system." was introduced with the latest versions so I hope later 9926 Windows 10 build and the final release will not have this restriction.

You may know this but if you wipe the disc clean rather that try to install on Windows 8.1, you can install Windows 10 build fresh 9926.  He would just have to reinstall the device drivers after installation.

    Hello

There is no free upgrade to Windows 7.

There was a special offer for this a couple of years back; but this offer has expired for a long time.

Before purchasing Windows 7, follow these steps:

Go to your computer / computer laptop manufacturer Web site and see if Windows 7 drivers are available for your make and model computer / laptop.

If this is not available, Windows 7 will not properly work for you.

Run the "Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor.

  • Legitimate request for a free upgrade to Windows 7

I am new to this forum and am revolted by the attitude of the staff of the Toshiba customer support to my legitimate request for a free upgrade to windows 7, here's an email I wrote in which I would appreciate your comments on:

    To the right.

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with your response to my legitimate request for a free upgrade to Windows 7 see I recently spent more than £1,000 of one of your products.

After having several problems with the Vista operating system, I telephoned your customer on December 4 and had a conversation with an employee who could not satisfy me as to why my machine was not entitled to an update free to Windows 7, as mentioned on your web site.

He offered to take me up to a supervisor I agreed and that was connected to a female member of staff who tried to explain that my model did not appear in the "promotion". I couldn't sense in explaining, in the context of facts that my machine was of the same age and from the same family as those seen offer "promotion."

This employee was still unable to respond or understand my question and said that it is not technical interested so I asked him to put me through to his supervisor and after 10 minutes on the line, I need to speak to Alistair Cook.

Mr. Cook explained 'promotion' for me, but could not explain why my model was not an option, so he said he'd call at the time where he discovered why. What he has made some time after and repeated her account earlier with no clarity. He said he would do more research on the issue and send me the results.

This contacting your customer support Office took a total of 48 minutes on the phone.

Vista is of all intentions, a failure, a fact that you accept your offer of free updates to your customers, so why discriminate against some consumers and not others.

I am a user of long-standing computers Toshiba, the Qosmio is my third laptop and I have always been satisfied customer support, not that it was greatly needed. So, I ask again that do you the right thing and give me my eligibility based on principles.

    Yours sincerely.

    Hi mate

    Very interesting point of view.
But the fact is that not all cell phones from Toshiba are checked for an upgrade to Windows 7.
    Why?

Well, I checked Toshiba European page
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-> Windows 7 upgrade

and there I was able to find a list of FAQS.

One of the FAQ provides this info:

_What requirements I must meet to participate in the program of upgrade? _

+ To participate in the upgrade program, you must meet the three following criteria: +.
    + 1. You purchased your Toshiba computer between June 26, 2009 and January 31, 2010. +
+ 2. Your Toshiba computer is one of the series of model to check on the Toshiba page. +
+ 3. With your Toshiba computer, you bought an operating system Windows Vista Home Premium Edition, Windows Vista® professional or Windows Vista® Ultimate Edition. +

It seems that several criteria must be met in order to participate in the Windows 7 upgrade program.

  • The free upgrade to Windows 10 for new or existing Windows 7 SP1, Windows Update 8.1 and Windows Phone 8.1 devices qualified that upgrade the first year

I had my laptop of HP 2000 for about 1 1/2 years, and had Windows 8 (not 8.1) preinstalled. The only problem: when you install the Technical Preview, my hard drive was completely wiped out and now I have no disk recovery plant. I would like to know if I can still qualify for the free upgrade offer for Windows 10.

    CJM

Microsoft did not say who yet, but if you have a legitimate win 8 key you are probably eligible, but you may have to reinstall 8.0 > 8.1 update > update from 1 to 10.  They just did not for sure yet

  • I bought a new computer with Windows 7 free upgrade. We also have another office.

I bought a new computer with Windows 7 free upgrade. We also have another desktop computer. My son has paid and downloaded Windows 7 Home Premium on this computer (Asus), not knowing that I had the free update. ASUS sent me free upgrade disks. Can I use these on another desktop computer? Or I can download Windows on another desktop computer and transfer my registration to it, and then use the Asus drives on this computer?

Your question has nothing to do with the functionality of Windows Update (vs Windows upgrade), Jan.

That being said, Asus only can answer your specific question. Good luck!
