From Consiglio Aggiornamento 4.1 to 5.5 con nuovo material (stesso virtual center)

Buongiorno a tutti,

NEI mesi dovro'usare has the aggiornamento della mia infrastruttura vmware as dalla 4.1 went 5.5 o 5.1

  1. He Aggiorno from Virtual Center 4.1 to 5.5 (non mi è chiaro to sono obbligato ad installare it componente SSO), dopo aggiornamento I miei 3 esxi 4.1 host continuano ad essere are ed andare dalla nuova versione 5.5
  2. Ø new da zero sui tre nuovi host the new version 5.5 e faccio esxi him varies configurazioni di rete e storage
  3. Sposto o magnobeam the machine virtual sul primo host 4.1 che voglio auswechseln
  4. Rimuovo the spento dal Cluster host
  5. Firstly it will accommodate 5.5 tramite al Cluster Virtual Center
  6. Non potendo usare he vmotion (material different) magnobeam the first virtual machine ed effetto of beat.
  7. Sul nuovo host effetto registrazioni delle virtul machine just to - register

Grazie

  • How can I transfer a file from the operating system to a backup of the production running VM virtual machine?

Problem:  After I do a backup one using ghettoVCB on a local VMFS volume, I have a virtual machine that I can start something happened to that running.  However, sometimes I just need a file from the OS level, which means that I would need to start to get them, but then I have an IP address conflict.  I can't imagine a way to have the NICs turned off and still be able to move the file.  If I change the IP addresses, the software that I need to create the file that I need to transfer no longer works because, although there no need of constant connectivity to the seller, it is locked to the public IP address.http://communities.vmware.com/images/emoticons/sad.gif

Material:  I have two 4 ESXi hosts to work, each with local VMFS volumes.  They share a private vlan common and a vlan common public.  They each ssh, ftp, wput, wget, and rsync available.  I have a Windows 2003 Server VM which also hosts a NFS and the VI client and other VMWare tools.  It also has private and public interfaces as do virtual machines that would be to make and receive the OS files.

Question:  How can I transfer a file from the operating system to a backup of the production running VM virtual machine?

    Thank you!

Yes Mr President, make sure you set the network on this virtual machine to be connected to the 'Internal' vswitch, you set up before turning the power on to the virtual machine.

  • Check if host are connected to Virtual Center, not a cmdlet command, but from a file

Sometimes, I have to work on a list of hosts that are part of Virtual Center. But are are not organized in glomeruli or records or any cmdlet that I can call.

So sometimes I run scripts based on the list generated by the user below is an example of the code how I work against the list of hosts.

    $list = Get-Content "C:\Program Files\PowerGUI\goodhost1.txt".

    ForEach ($server in $list) {($luns = Get-ScsiLun -Server $vcs -VmHost $server)}

Sometimes these Listehotes can come from a database. The database sometimes misspells the hostname. So before working on the host I ping them and generate a list of capable host computer ping and not able ping.  Those who were not able to ping usually strike fault in the host name, and I would easily fix those and put them in a master host list.

So in essence, my script runs when I have a master host list. But when the host is not connected in Virtual Center my script breaks. So, I have to go change my master host list and get him out of the host that the script has run on including that which has not been connected and re-run the script. Kind of pain.

So what I'm looking for is a code example or idea on how to check if the list of my host against virtual center to see if its already connected.

When you work with the cmdlets I use something like this

    Get-vmhost | where {$_.} State - eq 'Connected'}

I could do something similar? With my own list.

    Thank you

    Oh sure!

    Get-VMHost | Where {((Get-Content "D:\scripts\hostsfile.txt") -contains $_.Name) -and ($_.State -eq "Connected")}

  • Deployment of a virtual machine from a store of data with less space, but enough for the virtual machine

I received this delicate task, and I can understand not just how to replace all parts.

I need to create a script that will be smartly decided what data store to deploy a virtual computer.  We do not want to deploy in a data store that has the most space, we want to deploy to the data store that has the least space but can still account for the space for the (vm + 5%) and still leave 50 GB free on the lun after the move.

Thus, for example, if the virtual machine is 40 GB, we want the script to select the data store that has a close to 90 GB available without being under.

So my thought for this approach is:

    • Create the query to get all the relevant LUNS.  This excludes all the LUNS with the 'local' name in it and excludes all LUN owners (who have a slightly different naming convention then our general shared storage LUNS)
      • This piece, which I partially understood
        • Get-datastore. WHERE-object {($_.)} Name: corresponds to "PAR0 [1-4] _ [edp] * disk *")- and ($_.) "." Name - notmatch 'local')}
      • Now, I need to get all of their total size and free space.  Perhaps export this list to a CSV, however if I have to.
      • Create a variable that contains: the size of the total virtual machine to the virtual machine that is deployed before its deployment.
      • Deduct vm size against each data store size and pull in some way that that also close to 50 GB free on the data store and still facilitates the deployment of the vm.

I have a few other scripts, I scrounged on the internet that I tried to restore... but I just don't calm not having all the pieces...

    • Get-Datastore. Where-Object {$_.} ParentFolder-match 'Internal'} ' | Select-Object - property data center, FreeSpaceMB, CapacityMB name, ' | Tri-objet-property FreeSpaceMB
    • Select-Object Name,@{n="CapacityGB";e={[math]::round (($_.)) {{(CapacityMB/1024))}}, @{n = "FreeSpaceGB"; e = {[math]: round (($_.))}} {{(FreeSpaceMB/1024))}}, @{n = "FreeSpacePercent"; e = {[math]: round (($_.))}} FreeSpaceMB / $_. {{(CapacityMB*100))}} | Sort-Object FreeSpaceGB

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    -Knotz

    Try something like this

    # Get all data warehouses

    $ds = get-Datastore. Where-Object {($_.)} Name: corresponds to "PAR0 [1-4] _ [edp] * disk *")- and ($_.) "." Name - notmatch 'local')} |

    Select-Object Name,

    @{n = "CapacityGB"; e = {[math]: round (($_.))}} {{(CapacityMB/1024))}}.

    @{n = "FreeSpaceGB"; e = {[math]: round (($_.))}} {{(FreeSpaceMB/1024))}}.

    @{n = "FreeSpacePercent"; e = {[math]: round (($_.))}} FreeSpaceMB / $_. {{(CapacityMB*100))}}

    {foreach ($vm in Get - VM)

    # Find possible candidates

    $candidates = $ds | where {($_.)} FreeSpaceGB - $vm. (UsedSpaceGB-50) - gt 0}

    # Find the best candidate

    $target = $candidates | Tri-objet-property FreeSpaceGB-descending | Select - 1 first

Write-Output "VM $($vm.). Name) can go to $($target.) (Name) ".

  • How to upgrade from Virtual Center 2.5 + SQL Server 2000 to vCenter 4.1 + SQL Server 2008 (R2)?

I plan the upgrade of an existing VMware Infrastructure 3 (Virtual Center 2.5 + ESX 3.5) to vSphere 4.1, and I'm stuck in the Virtual Center Server upgrade and its back-end database.

vSphere 4.1 is released only as a 64-bit software, so he needs a x 64 O.S.; This excludes an upgrade the existing server on-site.

The plan is to install a new Server Windows Server 2008 R2 with SQL Server 2008 (or 2008 R2 if taken in charge), migrate the database and install 4.1 on the server vCenter.

The question: How can I migrate the database?

When you perform an upgrade of Virtual Center vCenter 4.0 on-site, the database is automatically upgraded; but this isn't the case when you install a new server.

VMware provides a utility to clear the existing database and import it into a new server, but it works only for SQL Server Express (which according to VMware must not be used in medium/large production environments); If this is not an option.

I am unable to find a support procedure to perform this migration.

    Can someone please help?

    Massimo,

I just went through it and found it to be a little pain simply because I forgot to VMware document simplicity...

You are right, the 'migration' tool does support SQL Server Express, I don't know why and niether are the two VMware Tech Support Agents I spoke with.

To anyone reading this. NOTE If you perform the upgrade / migration SQL Server Express via the Migration tool you MUST check the registry DbServerType key FIRST! If it is set on Custom Migration tools will ignore simply stages of database! See this VMware KB article for more information:

    http://KB.VMware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalID=1024380

Yes, it is the States 'failure', what he does not say, it is that the Migration tool will be 'Silencieusement Skip' your database.

End of Migration tools do call a standard SQL Server T - SQL backup command. YAY! You don't have to upgrade your existing 32-bit vCenter Server, do first just in case backup/snapshot, then run through the upgrade as if you were going to use the 32-bit version in production. This step will apply to any database schema change.

Build your brilliant new 64-bit server, install all of the bits and then use SQL Server Management Studio to make a backup of SQL Server 32-bit database and then restore it on your new 64-bit server. NOTE: Make sure that all SQL and vCenter services are stopped before proceeding with the backup and restore of the measures.

After the restoration of the SQL on your new server it reboot and everything will come back to life just as it is only now with all 64 bit!

    Hope this Helps!

  • Move your VirtualCenter SQL Server without a network, SAN, HA or DRS

    Hi all!

I have several servers ESX w / their own storage, a VirtualCenter VM virtualized and a virtual SQL server server that contains its performance data.

I need to migrate from SQL server to a new host, and to make that (inside virtual center of) wo / SAN, HA and DRS, network I need to stop SQL server.  However, this brings me to the problem, when I stop the server SQL, VC, kicking me service accidents and impossible to migrate the virtual machine.

Is there an easy way to do this in VC?  If not, where can I find best practical instruction on the migration of a VM between ESX servers in VirtualCenter even manually?

    Thank you!

Stop your vCenter Server Service, use VMware Converter to do a V2V. Turn off the VM SQL and 'copy' in its new destination. Power on the "new VM" and start your vCenter Service again, and then delete the "old" VM

  • Boot from CD on Tecra M2

    Hello!

I have a big problem, I have recently purchased a 2nd hand Tecra M2 and now I can't boot from the CD. I had with installed "Windows XP Home Edition". Because it was full of craps (slow, full of pictures, documents... etc.) I wiped them immediately. To be more precise I reinstalled Windows XP. However! I do not have a restore CD with my laptop, so I used a CD of win we have at the office.

To boot from the CD, I scored just good thing in 'Start' > 'Toshiba' > 'Tools' > 'control center (or something similar). However! There is no such thing now here!

I don't know what to do. I downloaded all the drivers on the web, I installed it, but I don't know why I don't have this ability to change the boot device...

I'm used to Linux (pants on the desktop) and I wanted to try it on my laptop, that's why I posted this message here.

    Help, please!

    Concerning
    Tom

Sorry for my English, I'm not native.

Sorry for my question but what you are looking for?
You want to boot from the CD/DVD drive? If Yes, why you n t change the order of boot in the BIOS?
You can also boot from the disc by pressing the C key immediately after starting the laptop.

Ps: If you want to have an OS that works without any problem, you must install the drivers of Toshiba in the right order.
Now you ask-> how the hell is a good order?

On the Toshiba driver page I found an installation instruction. Just follow this guide line

  • How to make a call from CPO to vCO (vcenter orchestrator)?

How to make a call from CPO to vCO (vcenter orchestrator)?

    Hello

I am trying to create a workflow that would connect to a vCO.

    I was Expecting

    1. how to create targets for the vCO and

    2. how acess that target.

    Concerning

    Shiva

    1) there is no target for the vCO. We have a target/connection to Virtual Center (vCenter)

    (2) If you want to make vCO calls you could do, it all depends on how the API is structured. You can make calls via web services or CLI, etc.

If you give your use case it is perhaps more to discuss. If you need an ENH or put something in, you can open a case with the TAC.

  • Cannot print or scan from MacBook Pro to Officejet 6500 E709n after Firmware upgrade

    I have-

    MacBook Pro; OS X 10.5.8

JO HP 6500 E709n: Firmware RBP1FN0935AR connected by Ethernet to my network.

Also several XP and Vista machines machine.

I have most of my printing and scanning of MBP.  I've updated the firmware the week last version (above) found under the XP software and drivers for this printer.  I thought more recent firmware is always better.  In any case, after that, I can no longer print or scan from the MBP.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled the software on my MBP 2 times.  And I followed the instructions on this forum for posts with similar problems.

I can see the printer in the Systerm preferences > Print & Fax.  He is registered and has a green light.  I can navigate to the printer and connect.  I can not state of ink.

BUT when I run the Setup Wizard, the printer is not listed in the window "select the device".

When I do 'add devices by IP' and enter the IP, I get a message saying that it could not connect to the printer.

I can print from my XP and Vista machines.  The XP machine is a virtual machine on VMWare Fusion on my MBP.  So I now transfer that I want to print my XP VM just to print it.  Is NOT IDEAL, but that market.  Hoping to solve this problem.

    1. I try to downgrade the firmware to the previous version.  Is anyway to do this?  How can I get the previous version of firmware?

    2. I would like to know what ports are used to connect to the printer?  If anyone can let me know, I'll see if my MBP has those blocked or not.

    3. If anyone can offer a solution, I would appreciated it.

OK, I finally found this thing.  What happened was that my wireless connection does not (for reasons unknown at this point) my Mac to connect to the printer.  Even if I can get to the Web page.  Hello may not cross.

Anyway, on a whim, I disabled the airport and used an ethernet cable to connect to the same switch the 6500 was conducting and reinstalled the software.  And whaddaya know.  I was able to install the printer, then did a scan and printing and a jig around the room.

I disconnected the cable and turn on the wireless connection, once again, and wouldn't you know, HP Scan Pro can not connect to the 6500.  Is returned to the thread and it works.  Hmmm.

I am due for an in new wireless access point.  The DLink and my Verizon FIOS Actiontec router sometimes do strange things.

I'll still give you, PrintDoc, 1 kudo for loans to help.  And the uninstalling of 3 keys; It was new to me.

I may be the only one who has never fallen on this, but it may be useful to say, do NOT take your connection Wireless for granted.  Always test everything.

    Thank you

  • Colfusion 11 (from 9) updated, new server, need to run as well for compliance testing

    Hello

As I improve my two CF 9-11 and my server, from an individual hosted on premise to a cloud solution server based virtual machine.

Current server runs CF9 in production and I can't close it until the Cloud Computing environment is fully configured and tested.

Security audit will not be run on an edition of the trial/developer so that I need to have two server (on prem and cloud) simultaneously with a production version of the CF for a while (2 weeks for example).

Am I allowed (license terms) to do?

If I run the process of upgrading (from CF11 trial/dev edition) on the new server (cloud) using my CF9 series, it will deactivate the license on the other (on prem - CF 9)?

Is there a specific action, I can have 100% that current production server (on prem CF9) will not be affected?

No official response from Adobe is greatly appreciated, as the experience of users welcome!

    BR, thanks in advance

    Antoine.

This message was edited by: Antoine BAPST - reason: seems no level of ColdFusion is capable of answering this question in general Licensing based on the question, so I moved it (back) to the section "permit".

OK, so after this thread was moved back, I got an answer via twitter.

Seems that I am authorized to maintain the two server during the migration period.

Note that I'm not sure that this answer is 100% authentic but recognized Adobe by @AdobeCare so I'll take it as such.

  • Cannot boot/install VMs from ISO pictures

In this new host VMWare 5.1 server, I created 2 virtual machines - one for Win 2008 - R2 and one for 2003-R2. Or VM guest operating system can be installed. Virtual machines can not see the DVD drive. I have modified/checked boot options, so this CD-ROM takes precedence over the hard drive. Normally, I see the message - "Press any key to boot from CD", but on this host, this option is not presented for virtual machines. The time limit is 2000 ms.

The ISO images are located in the data store and DVD player is attributed to connect to power.

The HP ProLiant DL360 G6 server is and in the BIOS, "Local Bus IDE adapter" is set to both. Thanks for any help.
