FXL ePub book file doesn't generate table of contents

The navigation of the table of contents in the iBook reader lists all pages of the fixed Indesign layout, any Option Export eBook, I chose, with the exception of no 'none '.Screenshot 2014-10-30 20.21.23.png

Hello

You will need to define it in the source document style of the book. Also please see if your table of contents works in single document itself to check the table of contents style is correctly set.

Thank you

  • FrameMaker 2015 is no longer generate tables of contents (TOC)

All of a sudden, some people in our team cannot generate tables of contents in FrameMaker 2015, while others may still. We could all generate TOCs without problem until this week (at least, this week is when we noticed the problem). Are there known issues with the 3.1 update that was released in April (I think)?

When we select Add > > create Standalone TOC, FrameMaker creates a TOC file and adds it to the book, but the file is completely empty. When we try to update the TOC file, nothing happens. When we try to create/update fakes with other books and models, same thing.

Other people are able to create/update TOCs with these same files. We have not been able to determine what is the difference which is causing the problem.

Those of us with the problem all seem to have 2015 FrameMaker version 13.0.3.495 installed. But at least a person who has the same version of hotfix can create/update TOCs. (We are all on Windows 7, 64-bit).

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance,

    Jason,

We have introduced an OCD related bug in update Fm 13.0.3 where in unstructured books OCD is not generated in structured mode.

As a solution, he is requested to work in unstructured for unstructured books Mode:

    1. edit > Preferences > Interface product > select FrameMaker > restart FM

    2. open the book > Update > should work

We work for a quick update for the same thing.

  • Generated table of contents contains errors in the sections

I'm working on a large document that was created by someone else. When I try to update the table of contents, there are a few spelling mistakes that are not in the headings in the body of the document (I corrected, but the table of contents are acting as errors are still there).

    For example:

In my paper on page 32, there is a section "Fieldbus Protocol" (he was previously misspelled, such as ' Protochasl ' and I fixed it)

It shows in the generated table of contents: 32 Fieldbus Protochasthe < < so this is to show the 'old' spelling, even though I've updated the table of contents with the page layout > Update Table of contents command.

Is there a code behind (like HTML) for InDesign text which is perceived by the TOC generator? It acts like it is looking 'old' versions of these positions.

    Thank you!

are you sure that this section of paragraph style is used to build the table of contents?

There may be some invisible paragraph style which is then used to generate a theTOC

You should check the exact name of the paragraph style that was used in your table of contents

  • Can I hide a book or entry in the table of contents, based on a parameter?

Hi all. I am currently using RH 11.  Is there a way in which I can hide a book or entry in the table of contents, based on a parameter passed in the URL?

Rh10 introduced dynamic content to the user, otherwise known as categories of content-centric. In an SSL, you can create different outputs. The idea is that aid is open with a drop down menu where the user can select a category. If you look in the output folder, there is a folder for each category and you can open this assistance to a specific category. However, the user can then select other categories.

The method is described in the HR visit to my site and the projects in the sample have a SSL showing the method.

To open a specific category, point you to the start page for the category, the name of the category. So the TypeA category can be open from TypeA.htm.

  • Creating hyperlink in the generated table of contents

    Hello

I use InDesign CS4 and the difficulty to create hyperlinks in my automatically generated by Table of contents. I can create the destination in the document, but then the opportunity to create the new hyperlink (from Interactive menu drop-down) in the table of contents has disappeared. Option is not visible anywhere elsewhere in the document, or if I create manually the table of contents, just doesn't seem to work with generated automatically a.  Does anyone know if this is a known problem in CS4?

Have you tried checking the "Hyperlink" box on the PDF export?

  • Entry entry not added to the automatically generated table of contents

    Using RoboHelp HTML 11.

I'm linking a Word document into my project and have it automatically create the Table of contents. I create new pages from the Word title 1 and title 2.

As a general rule, a section in Word will be like this:

    Heading 1

    Body

    Section 1.1

    Body

    Section 1.2

    Body

In the table of contents, it will create a book labeled "Heading 1" and pages for 1.1 and 1.2 position position. There is no page for heading 1 or the body of the text that goes there.

I can manually add the title page 1 of the book, but I suspect that I don't have to. Y at - it a setting I use wrong? Or a tip or solution?

    Thank you.

    -Shawn

If you click on the book for heading 1, it go to the right place and show the body of the text?

Separate headings are created for heading 1, section 1.1. etc., or is - this a topic with the table of contents goes to the required place?

  • Page numbering and the Table of contents

I have a book containing 23 document files. Document files contain the page numbers in the footer.

One of the document file is a generated table of contents (TOC). Unfortunately, the generated page

the number in the table of contents do not match the numbering of the pages in the files. Here are the details:

    • The title page, in a file by itself, is not numbered
    • The frontmatter, distributed in five cases use lowercase Roman (i - xvi)
    • The body of the text in the remaining 17 files is digital (1-243)
    • The generated TOC uses cardinal numbers of the book as a whole. For example,.
Chapter I is numbered correctly in the footer from page 1. However, he is listed in the table of contents
as starting on page 19, because this is the file real 19th in the book. I put the document numbering
This file from 1 properties and properties of Page numbering for the book as a whole to
      be "continue."
    • The style of the table of contents entries is correct. In other words, the frontmatter uses a tiny Roman and the
      chapters use Numeric

I tried to regenerate the table of contents, but this did not help.

Does anyone have suggestions on what is the way prescribed to do?

OK, I continued to read and this is what I found:

Set the numbering style in the document, and not in the book that we told you. Format > Document > numbering. Choose Arabic or digital. Repeat for the various chapters.

Save and close the chapters. In the book file, click with the right button on each chapter and choose Configure XXX. This is where tell you the book to continue the page numbering or restart at the 1.

Once this is done, update your address. From there, if there are issues, we rely on the logic of the Fm we use every day, and each of us can help you solve.

  • How hide the table of contents in the body of an e-book?

Hey people, I'm kind of a weird request. Do not forget that everything I know about InDesign, I taught myself for a month, so I can miss major somethng.

As an intern, I am creating ebooks and I have to make sure that those I create the same look as the ebooks previously created for my employer (better yet, I had to do it from scratch!). In their previous ebooks (EPUB file format) the table of contents posted by the ereader clearly indicates a specific style of OCD was used to create (he titles and subtitles, so it is not just the default style that draws from the file names), BUT there is NO table of contents anywhere in the body of the ebook itself. There is also no blank page where a table of contents can be hidden with a hidden layer.

I created a table of contents to match style to them, but I can't it appears in the drop-down menu Styles TOC when I go to export EPUB book file unless the document of the table of contents is also included in the book file, and as I said, I can't get the table of contents in the body of the ebook itself just in the menu that is displayed by an ereader.

    Any advice?

Did you use dialogue style of content Table to create a new style of table of contents? If so, then the new table of contents style must appear in the drop-down list TOC Style selected in the dialog box in the Navigation options to export EPUB.

    Kind regards

  • Paragraph numbering does not appear in the table of contents

I'm working on a book with several chapters. Within each chapter, I have heading styles that use autodial (position 1 watch 1.1, 1.2, etc.;) Heading 2 is 1.1.1 1.1.2 etc. ; Heading 3 is 1.1.1.1, 1.1.1.2, etc.). These figures show in chapters, but I can't to the appear in the generated table of contents. I tried to add < $chapnum >. < $sectionnum >. < $subsectionnum > to reference the table of contents page, but that only seems to show the chapter TOC number, rather than the chapter title is actually in. I tried auto numbering in the table of contents, but that no longer works. Is it possible to show the numbering of the chapters in the TOC?

  • Include graphs of the icon in the table of contents (TOC)?

    Question

Is it possible to have icons (i.e. frameworks anchored inline) automatically appear in the table of contents?

(We translate into 15 languages, so manually add graphics to the table of contents, after its creation isn't really a viable option).

    Scenario of

In our books, we include a troubleshooting section explaining her mean different icons of warning symbol. (Kind of like engine lights check various you see in cars). It would be nice to show the actual icons in the table of contents, do I hope this a little easier to find info.

We do not include the icons in actual positions in the book using anchored frames "Shrink Wrap", but each anchored picture is replaced with a space in the auto-generated table of contents. (This is what we want in most cases, just not this particular case).

We work in unstructured FM 11.

    Thanks in advance,

    Jason Nichols

If you are ready to have a paragraph format separate for each variation of the icon, you may be able to use the image above each corresponding to xxxTOC tag property to its icon, using negative space Frame - over hack Arnis described lately to:

The numbered steps circled are possible?

This will pollute the paragraph of course catalog.

I'm rather tempted to use a rendering of the font tool to convert your icons of character glyphs in Unicode E000-F8FF private use area *. Then, the icons are just text introduced in each topic. Note: in a position of switching character Formats breaks automatic hypertext in the table of contents. See:
Color of the page number in the table of contents

The problem of termination of the link could be avoided by using a Unicode open license text font which is similar to your favorite title font and adding glyphs to icon for private use. Then there is no change of character format in the relevant TOC entries. Of course, turning your icons in glyph police presume you have vector art for them which is easily converted to outlines, otherwise it will be a great effort.

    * I should avoid areas of private use A or B, because the scope on planes 15 and 16 (more than 32-bit code points).

  • Table of contents: sequence of elements of evil

In my paper (no service book used), each section begins with two sections: first paragraph Style 1, then 2 of paragraph Style. In the table of contents, I need the setting, conversely: Style of paragraph 2 above, followed by paragraph 1 below Style.

However, in the generated table of contents, headers appear in the same order as in each section. Has anyone an idea what goes wrong?TOC sequence.png

In a case like this, you may need to 'wrong' ID by doing what you want. You can do this by adding some kind of nonprintable framework (put it on a nonprinting layer, set attributes for non-printing or make the invisible text by setting fill on [none], the last being the worst choice) with one of the titles. If it is on the same layer, it can be hung in the text stream is moved during the edition with the rest of the text. Add the title that you want the list in no particular order to this framework by using a unique style, not the one used in running text and indclude this style in the TOC instead of the running text. This will allow you to position managers correctly compared to them to get your titles in the correct order, but it's a pain.

When I do the non-printing of stuff like what I like to make it really obvious mode layout, so I usually use red text. It can be easy to forget that there is something invisible if you don't see it, and the next guy makes mounting it will also appreciate if you don't hide things.

  • Indented in the table of contents is not retained in the table of contents of the document

    Hi all

I use RH7 on a Windows XP Professional platform.

I am generating documentation and indentation in the table of contents generated in the document is not the same, not even close, as the project.

I tried to use HTML heading levels maintain checkbox, but while titles fonts are better, indentation in the table of contents for the document is getting worse.

When I disable this checkbox, it will give me a decent indentation in the table of contents, however the fonts used for headings in the document are sometimes more small then one used for normal text.

Does anyone has an idea how I could fix it? I don't want to do too much formatting in the Word document either, because it takes a long time.

    Thank you

Thus in the document that you want to book either title 1 and 2 book 2 and in the table of contents you want this?

As you can see, this is what I have in the TOC and the body is as described above.

If you select HTML to maintain levels, you will always get the above with the titles of books but third topic will become a heading 1, as it should with this option checked.

I maps to a Word template where the TOC styles are defined to be indented as above. Maybe you have to match to a Word template, or if you are, you just need to tweek styles in it.
