Hello

Error code 24 characters for short drive Self Test (DST) would indicate that hard is defective and must be replaced.

If you are out of warranty and would like a guide to replacing the hard drive yourself, please let me know - include the full model number and your g56 series book Nr - see here for an explanation.

Kind regards

I ran the F12 diagnostics, he said:

    -Start the test short dst.

MSG: Unit 0: dst log contains previous error

  • My laptop has been tested for Windows 8?

You can always consider the upgrade of Windows 8 and are unsure if it has been tested for Windows 8 or if it will receive all the drivers Windows 8.

This site of HP is expected to know what to expect during the upgrade to Windows 8.

Click on more information to get the opportunity to enter your product number to see if it has been tested for Windows 8, and if she can get drivers Windows 8 or not.

I hope this information is useful.

  • HP touchsmart tm2 laptop: DST short hard drive failed

Because my laptop was not start (only a blank screen to come), I ran the advanced diagnostic by pressing F2 while bootung.

After you run the disk hard test the short DST failed with the ID PLVLWC-4G24HG-XD6VSG-60TP03 failure.  The laptop is out of warranty. I did the hard reset by removing the battery power button & pressing it showing positive results. The hard drive is repairable or do I replace it? Pls advice

No repair of hard drives; they must be replaced.

See page 41 manual Service here:

    Manual

It can use any hard drive portable thick 9.5 mm standard 2.5 inch wide and I recommend that you get at least a disk 7200 RPM like this:

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=9SIA2W014M8024

You have made the recovery disc? If this isn't the case, post back for help in reinstalling the software.

  • DST short hard drive failed, code 64XTPH - 00078 M-X87SXG-60RW03

I experienced detention and the system freezes on my Compaq CQ2909EO desktop. Guarantee was completed two weeks ago, and unsurprisingly the problems started almost immediately after that. He went so far, that I was forced to do a check disk onto another computer with Freecom Dock. Quite a few errors have been resolved, so I installed the drive in my Compaq and method to rearm the system settings and reinstall Win 8. I was able to do the reinstall without problem, but when running Windows updates the system froze again. It crashes every time, the first thing that can happen is the HARD drive light on the front turns off. I knew what to look for in the event log and found half a dozen events like this:

Event ID 129 - storachi - Reset device, \Device\RaidPort0, has been published

So I installed the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI and he ran. Everything seems to be ok, but short drive self test (DST) fails with code 64XTPH - 00078 M-X87SXG-60RW03. Does that mean I have a defective hard drive, or possibly a faulty controller? I need to know whether to buy a new player or a whole new non-HP-rendering (more under warranty, please) computer.

A hard drive DST error usually indicates that the hard disk has failed or is subject to fail and will have to replaced. After replacing the hard drive, please use the support of HP recovery, you created earlier to return the computer to a factory State.

If you create your HP recovery media when you first set up your computer, please contact the official support of HP in your region / country, via the HP portal to support all over the world, to see if the HP recovery support is available for your computer.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

  • HP 6730 s, short dst failed

    Hello

I have a laptop HP 6730 s with windows 7 install. The last time, I have a few freezing problems. When I start the diagnostic tool, she came back with abstract DST failed, ID 60CC5K-GFX61B-XD6W3F-60RQ03.

    How should I do?

    Help, please

    Thank you.

    Hello

Failing drive short self-test would indicate that the hard disk is defective and must be replaced - it is also compatible with the issue of freezing you describe.

If your laptop is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange for the disc replaced.

If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

If you are in another part of the world, begin here.

If you are out of warranty and would like a guide to replacing the hard drive yourself, let me know - include size (IE 500 Gb) of your existing HARD drive.

  • has ran sfc/scannow __message: req for Win to run successfully the files must be copied into the DLL cache. Insert the win xp pro sp3 cd. I do not have a CD. How to fix?

Having problems starting and IE7 display problems (missing buttons on web pages or text overlay and cannot respond to the answers in this forum. AE)  has ran scannow and received the message in my question.  How can I fix?

If you are interested, you can see my other problems that I posted another question about 'black screen at startup... '. »

It is unlikely for sfc/scannow to run slowly unless the Service Pack to your real XP bootable installation CD matches the Service Pack installed on the computer.  This usually isn't the way things are in the real world.

You have a true bootable XP installation CD (it is not the same as any recovery CD provided with your system)?

Sfc/scannow will not help running.  You can not worry it run in the future.

Let's see what you have right now.

Please provide additional information on your system:

Click Start, run and enter in the box:

    Msinfo32

Click on OK and when the system info summary appears, click on Edition, select all, copy, and then paste the information here.

For information about video drivers, expand components, click view, click on edit, select all, copy and then paste the information here.

There will be some personal information (such as the user name and the name of the system), and anything that turns information private for you, simply delete the pasted information.

This will minimize back Q & A and eliminate guesswork.

It seems that the video drivers were considered suspects and since you have NVIDIA, I let NVIDIA look at your system and see what their online scanner has to say about your system.

I use the NVIDIA site and let scan them online take a look at your video system and see what he suggests for drivers and consider their analysis if they offer a new driver.

It is recommended to run the scan NVIDIA with Internet Explorer.

Here is the address of the NVIDIA page:

    http://www.nvidia.com/download/Prescan.aspx?lang=en-us

Read the instructions, and then click the DRIVERS GRAPHICS button to start scan and see what they have to say about your graphics card and if you need to update your video drivers.

If you have an NVIDIA card installed, you might think to replace it too (later).

You can also consider ditching Norton - at least for now...  Maybe just uninstall Norton temporarily using their special uninstall program and get your system stabilized and then when things are stable, reinstall your Norton again if you are forced to keep.   If you have installed Norton 'out of the box' it really installs a bunch of stuff that can thwart the troubleshooting.  You can save time by simplifying your configuration by getting rid of Norton and do it out of the picture entirely until things settle down.

Let's see what that your msinfo32 and NVIDIA has to say first.

Do, or do not. There is no test.

  • Operating system on my laptop has been tampered

Laptop has been restarting randomly, I had checked it by a technician at Staples and I was told there is no hardware problems and run the system recovery disk.  I ran the system recovery disk and got the message that it could not be recovered because the operating system (Vista 32 bit) has been altered. I hope that a full installation of a new operating system will solve the problem because it's the same thing to my XP desktop.

    Hello

    Thanks for the above information.

    1. what type of recovery you try using the recovery discs?

I suggest you to try the steps below and check if it helps.

Method 1: Try to boot in safe mode and check if the same problem occurs.

Method 2: If the problem does not exist in Mode without failure, then try to put your computer in a clean boot state.

By setting your boot system minimum state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or Windows 7:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: After the boot minimum troubleshooting step, follow step 7 in the link provided to return the computer to a Normal startup mode.

For your reference: ways to improve your computer's performance

Optimize Windows Vista for better performance

If issues exist with the recovery dvd, then I suggest you to contact the manufacturer of the computer.

    Hope this information is useful.
  • Can I use my Win 7 Upgrade disk to do a clean install on my desktop that my old laptop has now been destroyed. ?

Ok.. I bought a laptop with Vista pre installed Sony.

Then, I bought a copy of Win 7 Upgrade to upgrade, I did.
Shortly after, my laptop broke and I got a new laptop through my insurance company which had Win 7 pre installed. I just got a new desktop PC and was wondering if I could use my Win 7 Upgrade disk to do a clean install on my desktop that my old laptop has now been destroyed. ?

As long as the original computer disappeared, I think you can use the upgrade on another computer...

  • My Satellite laptop has been freezing randomly

    Hello

I've seen a lot of posts on the subject, but no solution. So my laptop has been freezing at random the day I bought it. Today it happens much more often, this becomes ridiculously boring.

Is there a way to fix this?

    > Once again, there was a notification that emerged after one of those who freeze soemthing mean in the sense of "there was a problem with amd (graphics card)?"but it was resovled."" It's all updated however.

This notification comes from the graphics card driver. It might be possible that there is a problem with the graphics driver or with the graphics chip.
Try to install the latest driver for Toshiba page. In case this doesn't help, recommend you to contact the service agents to check the hardware parts

But the previous user's right, its really hard to talk about issues that put t always appear or are difficult to reproduce

  • my laptop has deleted a file in the trash without telling me what he

my laptop has deleted a file in the trash without telling me it and now I can't get more than 200 documents

Any ideas on how to get one of my documents back, I tried to search in the finder on the mac, I tried to retrieve it from word and it still does not

    General file recovery

If you stop using the drive, it is possible to recover files that have not been overwritten by using the recovery software such as MAC Data Recovery, Data Rescue II, recovering files or TechTool Prodeleted.  Each of the previous ones come on a bootable CD for use without risk of writing, more data on the hard drive.  Two free alternatives are disc drill and TestDisk.  Look for them and demos to MacUpdate or CNET downloads. Recovery software generally provide trial versions that allows you to determine if the software would help before actually paying for it. Beyond that, or if the drive has completely failed, you must send the drive to a recovery service which is very expensive.

The hard drive remains the most widely used and the data are recorded, the greater the chance that your deleted files will be overwritten.

Also, visit The FAQ XLab and read the FAQ on data recovery.

  • What is the order of the removal of the songs to an iPod Classic syncing > somehow my laptop has started the process of synchronization without my knowledge and removed approximately 2,000 songs of my iPod classic.  How can I identify which were delete

What is the order of the removal of the songs to an iPod Classic syncing > somehow my laptop has started the process of synchronization without my knowledge and removed approximately 2,000 songs of my iPod classic.  How can I identify which were deleted songs?  I always manually move files to prevent this.  I'm on Windows 10.

Has no way to know that...

If your library iTunes music fits on the storage space of 160 GB of your iPod classic, you just set to automatically sync your entire library of music.  Then, it won't matter which has been removed and which do not get deleted, because your iPod music library is the same as your library iTunes music.  And iTunes it keeps this way, every time your iPod connection (or click sync , if already connected).

If you don't want "everything" in your iTunes library on your iPod (understandable), you can create a playlist in your iTunes library with all the songs you want on the iPod.  Then, set to automatically synchronize the playlist to iPod.  Instead of manually managing iPod, you manually manage playlist in your iTunes library.  The iPod has no need to be connected.  The next time you connect the iPod (or click sync , if already connected), iTunes will update the iPod with the same changes.  The big advantage is, if something happens like what you describe, or needs to restore iPod (erased) or even if break you your iPod (and get a new), need you a few mouse clicks to solve the problem.  Just set it up to sync the same playlist once again, which exists in your library iTunes (not only on the iPod).

You can post back for more information about how to use automatic synchronization to do what you want more easily, go ahead.
